Divine Domain: Speed

Greek messenger Pheidippides ran to Athens with the news of the great victory his people had over the Persians at Marathon, a distance of more than 26 miles. Driven to exhaustion, after he delivered his message - “Rejoice we conquer” - Pheidippides died.

The deities of speed are known for their swiftness and exult in competition. For them, running, not combat, is considered the ultimate in physical prowess. The gods of speed crossover into many areas, such as travel, luck, wind, and even death. Horses, stags, and big cats are considered sacred animals. Deities who grant this domain include Hermes, Zoran, Mefdet, Akadi, and Shaundakul.

Tips for roleplaying speed clerics

Clerics of speed do not shy away from combat. They can often be found on battlefields in a support role speeding aid where it is needed most. Generals value them as battlefield medics and messengers.
