Warlock Patron: The Primordial

Your patron hails from an elemental plane, an existence fueled by raw natural power and instinct. A great Dao eager to extended their reach beyond their elemental palaces or a giant king seeking to return the empires of old, an elemental lord securing safety against their enemies or an archomental seeking to return, primordials are unusually direct in telling patrons their goals - so long as you can contact them.

Primordial patrons include Akadi, the Queen of the Air; Bwimb, the archomental of ooze; Dendar the Night Serpent; Maegara the Inferno; and powerful genies.

Expanded Spell List

The Primordial lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Primordial Expanded Spells
Spell Level Spells
1st chromatic orb, absorb elements
2nd gust of wind, enhance ability
3rd fireball, elemental weapon
4th stoneskin, conjure minor elementals
5th cone of cold, conjure elemental

Bonus Cantrips

Starting at 1st level, you gain one evocation cantrip from any class. It counts as a warlock cantrip for you, but does not count against your number of cantrips known.

Elemental Resistance

At 1st level, your exposure to the elemental planes has given you a degree of adaptation against them. Choose a type of damage: cold, fire, lightning, or thunder. You gain resistance to this damage.

Channel Elements

Starting at 6th level, you have dealt closely enough with the planes that their powers occasionally lend themselves to you. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to cause one of the following to occur. The target makes a constitution saving throw; on a success, it takes half damage and ignores other effects from this feature.

• The creature that damaged you is momentarily surrounded by flames. The creature takes fire damage equal to your warlock level.

• The earth beneath the creature that damaged you begins to shake. The creature takes bludgeoning damage equal to half your warlock level and is knocked prone.

• The air around you begins to focus in the direction you guide it. The creature that damaged you is pushed back 15 feet and knocked prone.

• Ice begins to course through the veins of the creature who damaged you. The creature takes cold damage equal to half your warlock level and its movement is halved until the start of your next turn.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Planetouch

At 10th level, your familiarity with the elements has reached new heights. You are now immune to the damage type you chose in Elemental Resistance.

As an action, you can choose one creature within 60 feet. The creature must make a constitution saving throw. On a failure, it becomes vulnerable to the damage type chosen in Elemental Resistance for the next minute. If it is resistant, you instead cancel the resistance. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Elemental Savant

At 14th level, your elemental damage has reached a new height of effectiveness. When you hit a creature with a spell attack or weapon attack that deals damage of the same type that you chose in Elemental Resistance, you can choose for the attack to automatically deal maximum damage. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
