Make a ranged spell attack against a creature you can see. On a hit, the target takes 1d12 lightning damage, and on your turn, you can use your bonus action to deal 1d4 lightning damage to the target so long as it is within range. The spell does not end as soon as the target leaves range but does end if the target is outside the spell's range at the end of your turn. The spell also ends if you can't see the target at the end of your turn.

At Higher Levels: The initial damage increases by 1d12 for each slot level above 1st. The incremental damage increases by 1d4 for each slot level above the 1st.
