Arcane Ward Specialist

Through study and dedication to the arcane you've unlocked unique properties of the Arcane Ward feature.

  • Increase your Inteligence by 1, up to a maximum of 20

  • As an action You may choose one willing creature and touch them to magically etch an arcane school symbol on their skin. The arcane mark acts as a beacon for the Arcane Ward feature, allowing you to gift it to the creature until the Arcane Backlash is triggered, you create a new one or until you finish a long rest.

  • When the Arcane Ward reaches 0 HP one of the following Arcane Backlash effects is triggered, based on the type of mark you chose:
Arcane Backlash
Spell Schoool Effect
Enchantment The creature which broke the ward must succeed on a Wisdom Saving throw or be Charmed by the Mark Bearer until the end of the bearer's next turn
Evocation All creatures within 10 feet of the mark bearer must succeed on a Strength Saving Throw or be Knocked back 15 feet
Illusion The mark bearer becomes invisible until the end of their next turn unless they attack or cast a spell
Necromancy The creature which broke the ward must succeed at a Constitution saving throw or have it's melee attack damage Halved until the start of their next turn
Divination The marked creature receives a glimpse into it's own future, it gains a 1d6 bonus which can be applied once to either an attack roll, saving throw or ability check after seeing the roll but not before the result is determined. This bonus lasts until the end of the creature's next turn.
Abjuration The Arcane Ward becomes dense with abjuration magic which bursts forth to cover the marked creature. Until the end of it's next turn, the creature gains a damage reduction equal to the caster's Inteligence modifier.

The DC of the Arcane Backlash effects are equal to the Abjurer's spell casting DC.

Once the ward is triggered, the extra effect cannot be triggered until you finish a long rest.

Using the Project Ward ability can move the mark as well as the ward onto the target creature if desired, making them the mark bearer until the ward reaches 0 HP or is moved again.
