Deep Dragonborn

"In the corners of the deep caverns you might stumble upon a creature that seems to blend with the very darkness that surrounds them ."

— Zepulchure, Adventurer's diary

Physical Description

The Deep Dragonborn are slimmer than their cousins born under an open skye, a bulky form does not help movements in the caverns.

The colour of their scales range from both rich and pale shades of grey, blue, red and purple.

Their features have a wide range of horn placements and bone structure, brother and sister often looking widely different, however they all have glosse, pale white eyes with a thin black slit down the middle

Place in the World

The deep Dragonborn often work together in smaller clans in servitude of a deep dragon, and through that dragons bonds they can find themselves working for the Drow.

The relationship between theese two humanoid societies are strained, as most drow see the dragonborn as nothing more than beasts of labour,

However the deep dragonborn love studies, and they guard their deep dragons libraries till the bitter end if it is needed.

Their relationship and servitude to the deep dragons are of their own choice in most cases, not all are happy with their position, but nothing is forcing them to stay, except lack of options

Deep Dragonborn's Society

The Deep Dragonborn can seem like they are plotting your downfall, but in most cases their minds have wandered to the pages of the latest book or scroll that they read, they rarely seek the destruction of others, unless their chosen enemy has destroyed a particular wealth of knowledge.

There is no particular ruler or leader, outside of their chosen Dragon perhaps, however this is a relationship that serves both races, and rarely ends in bloodshed, unless two clans are fighting over wealth or territory, although in most cases even these disputes would have had many attemps at solving it without violence, typically without the dragon itself realising or knowing of these attempts.

You must not take these Dragonborn as cowardly or weak due to this unothodox methos of problem solving in comparison to their cousins born under open skye, if you anger them, they will spend decades if needed before striking their target.

Relations with other races

Humans. "The few that venture onto the surface and meet humans, find them lacking in bost physical and mental capacity, however they make up for this wit htheir wild imaginations ."

Elves. "Their dealings with the Drow has made them suspicious and untrusting of any elven creature."

Dwarves. "They find these small creatures curious but dangerously unknown as they make a lot of noise digging into the deep"

Race as Adventurers

Everry now and then, a select few of each clan will be sent to the surface, either to reclaim lost treasure and knowledge, or to exact revenge upon the unlucky fools that have angered them, often a single member will have missions for several individuals.

Even fewer venture up in the light due to personal reasons, or not wanting to stay in the comfort of darkness, these are will often not return to their clans and will find some way to sustain themselves, often as scholars or mercenaries.

When they return to their clan they will be welcomed only if they bring back new collections of knowledge, either in physical form or as things they can teach, however once they return they will not leave again, as their purpose is to teach all they have learned to the next generations
