## NPC / Bystander Mood and Attitude ##### Mood (inward feeling) | 1d12 | Mood | Description | |:----:|:-------|:------------| | 1 | Ornery | This person has had a rough day, is generally bristly, hate certain aspects of the party i.e one member’s race, or is an asshole for any other reason. | | 2 | Busy | This person is busy doing something - tending a field, off to work, studying a text, etc. | | 3 | Groggy | This person didn’t get enough sleep last night, is hungover, coming down from a long day, just woke up, etc. | | 4 | Sickly | This person is ill, hungover, injured or otherwise incapacitated. | | 5 | Mad | This person is unhinged, perhaps paranoid, confused, irrational, etc. | | 6 | Bored | This person is engaged in a task they find not so engaging such as guard duty, washing dishes, etc. | | 7 | Wired | For whatever reason, this person has a lot of energy. Perhaps they’ve just heard good news, had copious amounts of caffeine, is generally an energetic person, or any other reason one might be wired. | | 8 | Idle | This person really has nothing to do at the moment. | | 9 | Intoxicated | This person has had a bit too much to drink, smoked a bit too much of the local vegetation, is under some variety of mind altering spell or otherwise intoxicated. | | 10 | Eager | This person really wants to do something. Like the Bored or Idle person, they have nothing to do, but the Eager person desperately wants to fill their time. | | 11 | Happy | This person is generally in an amicable mood. Perhaps they’re simply content with life, perhaps they’ve received good news, perhaps they’ve simply had a good day - who knows? | | 12 | Kind | By nature or by mood, this person is looking for an excuse to exact a random act of kindness. | ##### Attitude (outward behavior) | 1d12 | Attitude | Description | |:----:|:------------|:------------| | 1 | Distrustful | This person wants nothing to do with anyone. They could be fearful, reserved, paranoid, or any other mindset that would draw them inwards and feel compelled not to trust others. They may deliberately hide things from the players, refuse to speak to them, or behave in a flat out hostile manner. | | 2 | Annoyed | This person is on their last straw. Perhaps the players have angered them, perhaps their mood is frustrating them, or any other reason one might be ornery, and damn are they ornery. | | 3 | Impatient | This person wants to be somewhere else, do something else, or have something they don’t have. Generally, they won’t tolerate a long conversation and remain singleminded. | | 4 | Needy | This person wants something from the players, and doesn’t really care much for what the players want from them. In fact, their need - be it a drug, a spare part or simple cash - will be just about the only thing they’re willing to discuss. | | 5 | Mad | As seen in the other Mad entry, this person is not in their right mind. Their conversation will be difficult to decipher, nonsensical, prone to change in tone, or other such reflections of a broken psyche. | | 6 | Slick | This person is a liar, braggart, or conman, and for one reason or another they’re interested in testing their trade on the players. | | 7 | Wishy-washy | This person is in a very malleable mood, perhaps after a long day their emotional state could go either way. Reroll as soon as they interact with someone, with an appropriate modifier reflecting the nature of the interaction. | | 8 | Humble | This person doesn’t want much from other people, and won’t expect much of the players. Similarly, however, they also just aren’t that aware of anything and prefer minding their own business. | | 9 | Humorous | This person wants to crack a joke or laugh. They conduct themselves with humour and nonseriousness for any number of reasons, but will generally approach the player looking for uplifting conversation. | | 10 | Flirty | This person is feeling a bit permiscuous. They may not be expressing it toward the player, perhaps they’re simply feeling a tad lovelorn. Generally, though, they’re at the very least wanting to talk to the player be it about their lost love or the paladin’s gorgeous hair. | | 11 | Excited | This person is excited about something and it is reflected in their interactions with the players. They might be happy to see someone after a long trip and eager to talk, or eager to tell a great story they have from work. | | 12 | Friendly | This person is comfortable speaking to people at the moment. Generally they will be happy to see players and ready to speak to them. Perhaps they even are feeling like good Samaritans. |

The effects then wear off. | d20 | Effect | |:---:|:-------| | 1 | The player has a bad feeling... (Bad luck! The GM can force the player to reroll 3 dice before the next morning.) | | 2 | Shrink! | | 3 | Weak. (STR to 6) | | 4 | Ghost! (Player goes ethereal. Can possess people with a CHA check.) | 5 | Turn into frog. | | 6 | Feebleminded. | | 7 | Butterflies follow the character. | | 8 | Hands perpetually create fire. 1d4 extra fire damage on unarmed melee, but light on fire anything they touch. | | 9 | Amnesia! | | 10 | Character becomes a random race. | | 11 | Epiphany! (Player can ask the GM a question and get an answer, but the answer may be cryptic.) | | 12 | Enlarge! | | 13 | Strong! (STR to 19) | | 14 | Resistant. (add 2 hitpoints per level to HP and max HP.) | | 15 | Good luck! The player may reroll 3 dice before the next morning.) | | 16 | Third eye grows from forehead. The character can see magic and emotions. | | 17 | See in darkness. Disadvantage in daylight. | | 18 | Stench. Bad smell. Disadvantage on CHA checks. No other effects. | | 19 | A helpful spirit follows the character. | | 20 | Change into a magical creature (e.g. dragon or unicorn). |
