## Elemental Rats These seemingly normal creatures are the result of the experiments of a young wizard known as Kang, infused with elemental magic that slightly altered their physiognomy and being an arcane explosion waiting to happen by nature of their creation, are not dangerous on their own but, as with any rat, there’s never only one of them. ***Living trap.*** These were, as many magical creatures before, the end product of an experiment where a wizard tried using living creatures as vessels for magical traps. You could say he succeeded… to a certain degree, he certainly was not expecting his creations to live more than a couple of minutes or to be able to breed for that matter but what was meant to be a living grenade ended up being a new species altogether. ***Magical blood.*** The rats that managed to survive the infusing process ended up absorbing the magical energy of the wards they were meant to carry, changing them forever with new characteristics and abilities that can be passed down from generation to generation of Elemental Rat. ***The devil is in the details.*** Although they look pretty much exactly like a normal rat at first sight there’s always a tiny detail that gives them away to the careful adventurer. Be it a hint of sulfur scent or the tiny amount of fire in the breath of an angry Fire Rat, the smoky breath or ice crystals in the fur of an Ice Rat or even the static electricity that keeps the fur of Lighting Rats straight. These are hints that wise adventurers know to look for because you don’t wanna be careless when clearing a nest of Elemental Rats. ***Lab animals.*** Even when found in the wild (from the great escape from Kang’s laboratory 3 years ago where many magical creations found their way into the outter world) the elemental rats legacy as lab animals is prevalent. Issue is, they are never on their own, elemental rats are social creatures by nature and they naturaly build nest and attack in swarms. ##### Neutralizing elemental rat swarms You can stop the magic explosions from happening if you manage to deal the finishing blow to the swarm using their vulnerable damage type. This will neutralize the magical energy and prevent the explosion from happening.

If you ever come across a nest of giant elemental rats of any kind the wiser response is to run if you are not ready to face the dangerous vermin. ***Elemental appearance.*** The giant variety of elemental rat was originally made by *"overcharging"* a regular elemental rat.
