### Student of Death After the discovery of the music of life, some Bards began to wonder. If there is a song of life, so too must there be a song of death. Students of death devote their lives to unraveling the secrets of this deathsong. Philosophers and scholars, their passion is typically fueled by a morbid curiosity rather than any malign interest. A handful delve into the study of undeath, though this practice is generally frowned upon within the college. ##### College of Mortality Features | Bard Level | Feature | |:----:|:-------------| | 3rd | Reaper's Tongue, Mortal Magic | | 6th | Gift of the Veil | | 14th | Final Ballad | #### Reaper's Tongue When you join the College of Mortality at 3rd level, you gain a modest insight into the nature of death, enough to wield it against your enemies. You learn the *Vicious Mockery* cantrip. For you the spell can deal necrotic or psychic damage (you choose when you cast the spell) and its damage die is equal to your Bardic Inspiration die. Additionally, while holding a bardic spellcasting focus you can add your charisma modifier to the damage dealt by the spell. #### Placeholder Also at 3rd level, You do cool thing. Once per turn when you cast *Vicious Mockery*, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration to empower it in one of the following ways: - **Dire Resonance.** Roll a Bardic Inspiration die and subtract the number rolled from your target's saving throw. - **Fleeting Resonance.** This casting of the spell becomes a bonus action. - **Sweeping Resonance.** Choose a point you can see within 60 feet of you. Whenever you empower *Vicious Mockery* in this way, roll a Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to the spell's damage. #### Gift of the Veil By 6th level, you can draw inspiration from the veil that seperates life and death. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you dies or makes a death saving throw, you can use your reaction to regain a use of your Bardic Inspiration. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. #### Final Ballad At 14th level, you have unlocked the true power of death's melody. As an action you can begin a harrowing performance that exudes a magical aura of mortiferous energy in a 30 foot radius, centered on you. (Need to rework this)
