\page ### Oath of the Eclipse The Oath of the Eclipse is an oath taken by paladins who tread a fine line between light and dark.
- Adapted from: [Oath of the Eclipse](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/63zr1j/subclass5e_oath_of_the_eclipse_tdc/) #### Tenets of the Eclipse Although many paladins may have their own specific reasons for taking this oath, the tenets of the eclipse embody the duality of the path they walk. **Spead the Light.** I will not allow the darkness to envelop me, the land, or the innocent. **Embrace the Shadow.** In the darkest of times, I will do what must be done for the greater good. **Find Balance.** I seek tranquility, but know that conflict is sometimes needed to provide peace. **Be a Beacon.** Darkness lies within us all; in some more than others. I will be the sun or moon that lights the way. #### Oath Spells You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed. ##### Oath of the Eclipse Spells |Paladin Level|Spells| |:-----------:|:-----| |3rd|*absorb elements, hellish rebuke*| |5th|*darkness, moonbeam*| |9th|*beacon of hope, fear*| |13th|*banishment, blight*| |17th|*dominate person, hold monster*| #### Channel Divinity When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. **Blinding Radiance.** As a bonus action, you present your holy symbol and speak a word of power which causes it to radiate with blinding light. All creatures within 10ft of you must make a dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of your next turn. Creatures that are immune to the blinded condition automatically succeed on this saving throw. Fiends and undead that fail this saving throw are stunned instead of blinded. **Dark Defiance.** As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a word of power which causes it to draw in all the light which surrounds you. All creatures within 5ft must succeed on a charisma saving throw or take necrotic damage equal to your paladin level, or half on a successful save. You gain temporary hit points equal to half of the total damage dealt, and impose disadvantage on all attack rolls made against you until the start of your next turn. ``` ``` #### Dual Nature Starting at 7th level, you are able to harness the strength of your duality. You gain resistance to radiant and necrotic damage. Additionally, when you use Divine Smite against a creature that is not undead, the damage type changes so that half of the damage remains radiant damage and half is necrotic damage. #### Gaze of the Sun and Moons Starting at 15th level, you are able to reveal the true nature of any creature. When you use divine sense, you can also designate one creature within 30ft of you that you can see. You determine the designated creature's type, as well as any vulnerabilities, resistances or immunities it has. If the creature is disguised as something else, you see through this illusion and are able to see its true form. Additionally, divine sense becomes a bonus action for you. #### Eclipse At 20th level, your become so attuned to the sun and moon, that you have a special command of their power. Once per day, as an action, you can cause the illusion of a solar or lunar eclipse which is visible to all creatures within a 1/2 mile of you. This feature may have different visual effects in other planes of existence where there might not be a sun or moon, but the effects of using this feature are the same. Whilst the eclipse persists, you gain the following benefits: - The damage that you deal with your divine smite is increased by 2d8. - You are immune to the incapcitated and charmed conditions. - At the start of each of your turns, you gain hit points and temporary hit points equal to your charisma modifier. In addition, you are able to see auras around any creature stood under the eclipse which reveals if they are of good or evil alignment, as long as they have line of sight to the sky. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until you fall unconcious or you choose to end it as a bonus action. When this effect ends, even if you fall unconcious, you can choose a number of creatures within 60ft of you to make a charisma saving throw or take 8d8 radiant damage. Creatures that pass this saving throw take half damage.
