``` ``` ## The Ka'kari Literally the "Stones of Stones" or colloqually the stones of greatest power, the Ka'kari are seven of the most powerful magical items ever created. Granting immortality and absolute control of an element, few wielders of these artifacts of immense power have failed to achieve the status of legends. ### Alone In The Shadows *The hand of the wicked shall rise against him But it shall not prevail. The bearer of the Black Ka'kari acts as the secret agent of fate, granting justice, mercy, and vengeance in equal measure. He is the face of Retribution. He is also the only true Immortal Man.

\page ### Leveling Your Bond Unlike multiclassing, where you choose to gain a level in a separate class, your bond with the Ka'kari grows as you grow in power. If you bond your Ka'kari at 1st level, the bond will grow as you do. But if you are already an adventurer of great power in your own right, the bonding will grow faster to match you. Once your bonding level catches up to your character level, the bonding slows to the growth rate of your character level. ##### Bonding Speed | Character Level at Bonding | Bonding Levels Gained | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | 1 per character level | | 2nd—5th | 2 per character level | | 6th—9th | 3 per character level | | 10th—13th | 4 per character level | | 14th—18th | 5 per character level | | 17th—20th | DM's Discretion | ## Bonding Features ### Spellcasting The Ka'kari are powerful magical artifacts that allow you to unleash hidden power that lies dormant within you. When you bond the Ka'kari, latent magical ability expresses itself through the bond. #### Cantrips At your 1st level of bonding, you learn all available cantrips from the Black Ka'kari's spell list. #### Spell Slots The Ka'kari table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level or higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest. Unlike multiclassing, Ka'kari spell slots are in addition to whatever other spell slots you may have. For instance, a level 3 Wizard with a level 3 bond will have a total of 8 1st level spell slots and 4 2nd level spell slots. A level 7 Wizard with a level 5 bond will have a total of 8 1st level spll slots, 6 2nd level spell slots, 5 3rd level spell slots, and 1 4th level spell slot. The Ka'kari represents a separate well of magical energy from the bearer—a reserve which allows the Ka'karifers to continue far after a caster of otherwise equal strength would be fully tapped. #### Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher When you gain a level of bonding, you learn all the spells granted to you by the Ka'kari for the appropriate spellcasting level (as shown at the end of this document in the Black Ka'Kari Spell List). These known spells do not count against the number of spells you can prepare from a class spellcasting feature. You cannot learn spells from the Ka'kari for a level higher than you have spell slots. For instance, at bonding level 3, you know all 1st and 2nd level spells from the Black Ka'kari list. #### Spellcasting Ability Your spellcasting ability is Charisma. The Ka'kari each draw their magical power from an attument to a piece of your personality. As the bearer of the Black Ka'kari, your magic stems from your ability to love. You use your Charisma whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Ka'kari spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

#### Spellcasting Focus While other methods of casting require a separate focus, the Ka'kari *is* your spellcasting focus for all Ka'kari spells. You still need the appropriate focus for casting other spells as detailed in the appropriate class description. ### The Sustainer Your body heals at an accelerated rate. Starting at your 1st level of bonding, you are resistant to poison, and all effects of poisons with a duration end ten times as quickly. In addition, at the end of each of your turns, if you are below your maximum health and alive, you regain 1d10 hit points. The amount of hit points you regain increases by 1d10 at 6th, 11th, and 16th levels of bonding as shown in the Regeneration column of the Black Ka'kari table. When you take a long rest and have consumed Hit Dice, you regain all expended Hit Dice at the end of the long rest. In addition, if you die, you return to life wherever your corpse happens to be after 1d4+1 days. This power has a cost, however: someone you love must die in your place in the near future. This person is chosen by the DM. The only known artifact that can end this effect (and destroy the Ka'kari in the process) is Curoch, The Sword of Power. ### The Devourer The Black Ka'kari consumes almost anything. Beginning at your 1st level of bonding, as a reaction when targeted with a spell, you can make yourself immune to all magical damage until the end of your next turn. While this ability is active, you absorb spells to gain spell points. For a spell that does damage or an AoE ability like a Red Dragon's fiery breath, you earn 1 spell point for every 10 points of damage, rounded down (minimum 1 spell point). A spell which does not do damage gives spell points equal in number to the level of the spell slot consumed by the caster. A magical ability that does no damage (such as a Brass Dragon's *Sleep Breath*) earns spell points at the DM's discretion. For spells or abilities with a saving throw, you absorb the effect regardless of whether you would succeed on the saving throw. When this effect ends, you can convert spell points to spell slots based on the conversion rate in the Spell Points Conversion table. This ability can allow you to have more spell slots than your maximum, but not slots of a level higher than you can already cast through the Ka'kari or your class. Starting at your 7th level of bonding, you can use this ability four times between rests. At your 12th level of bonding, you can use this ability six times between rests. At your 20th level of bonding, you can use this ability an unlimited number of times. ### The Coranti Part of the magic of the Black Ka'kari is the ability to see and weigh souls at a glance. Beginning at your 1st level of bonding, you gain the ability to see the *Coranti*, or the "Unclean"—people who have done something immoral like murder, torture, rape, or even simply lie to hurt someone. It appears as a stain on their soul, visible to you in their eyes. ### Empowered Mind Your bond with the Ka'kari affects not just your soul, but your mind as well. When you reach your 3rd level of bonding, and again at 7th, 11th, 15th, and 19th bond level, your Charisma score increases by 2, as does your maximum for that score. ### Shadowstrider The Black Ka'kari can devour almost anything - even the light that touches you. Beginning at your 3rd level of bonding, you gain the ability to cast *Invisibility* on yourself at will without expending a spell slot. Beginning at 7th level, you gain the ability to cast *Greater Invisibility* on yourself at will without expending a spell slot. ### Devouring Blade The Black Ka'kari can cut through anything. Starting at 4th level, you can coat a slashing weapon with the Ka'kari. When you do so, it gains the following effects: * This weapon ignores all damage resistance and immunity granted by any effect or spell * This weapon ignores all armor, including Natural Armor (this does not negate abilities like Unarmored Defense) * When this weapon deals damage, it causes additional necrotic damage equal to 2 × your bonding level ``` ``` >##### Note: >The Black Ka'kari bonding description was written intended to be used with a character of the Rogue class, the class with which it is the most effective. However, it can be used effectively with any class desired. ### Body Magic You have begun to understand how your body is put together, and how you can change the instructions. Starting at your 5th level of bonding, when you cast the spell *Alter Self*, you can choose to make the spell permanent. ### One With the Shadows You have mastered the art of invisibility. Beginning at your 9th level of bonding, when you cast *Greater Invisibility* on yourself, the maximum duration of the spell is 1 hour. ### Faceless Your mastery of body magics continues to grow. At your 13th level of bonding, you gain the ability to cast *Alter Self* at will without expending a spell slot, including with your Body Magic ability. ### Bestial Form Having grown more comfortable with switching between humanoid forms, you have begun to experiment with more beast-like shapes. Beginning at 17th level, when you cast the spell *Shapechange* on yourself, you can choose to make the change permanent. When you do this, you cannot use the feature of the spell that allows you to shift between forms without casting again. ### Formless Your mastery of body magics has gone beyond the point that any other mage could hope to match.
