Some feel blessed, some feel cursed. Whether they are the child of a dragon or the unfortunate sailor struck by the lightning of a powerful air elemental, the deciding factor is an abundance of magic. For the Arcane Champion, their combative talent can influence the manifestation of their nascent sorcery during childhood development, or perhaps there is a mundane person who happens to become exposed to a powerful and volatile magical weapon, where the magic is absorbed and grants them magical talent... provided they don't die from shock. Whatever the case, the Arcane Champion is a manefestation of magic which sets itself apart from other origins in toughness and martial or magical combat prowess. The path of sorcerery this origin takes focuses more on the blending of sword and sorcerery, leaning more towards what is less powerful and inexhaustable as opposed to the more powerful, but more exhaustable. Ultimately, this origin culminates in the destinies of the Arcane Champion. The destiny of; The Martial Champion, in which their martial prowess is further bolstered by the loss of ultimate magic. The destiny of the Magic Champion, where their magical prowess is further expanded upon, becoming naturally attuned to their favorite metamagic and one of their spells in addition to the capacity to know more spells than the average sorcerer. Finally, the destiny of the Origin of Source, where the Arcane Champion is focused neither specifically in magic nor might... but the origin of their sorcery instead, expanding their soul ocean and learning to actively rejuvenate their source. ### Martial Talent The Arcane Champion has a specific mark of sorcerery that is manifested not as only a physical characteristic, but also the ability to shrug off pain and understand and apply the art of weapon combat. Like Bard are able to seemingly play their intruments as if it were apart of their body, so too does this innate talent allow the Arcane Champion to use a weapon as if it were apart of their body. This talent extends to their innate magical potential as well. * **Magic Versatility**, You are able to use your innate magical power to aid in your ability with a weapon. You can use your Charisma modifier for attack and damage rolls with your weapons. Additionally, you may use your weapon as a spell casting focus. * **Arcane Vitality**, As magic flows through your body, it reinforces your vitality. At 1st level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class. ### Extra Attack (2) Beginning at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

### Martial Arcana At 6th level, you have an intimate familiarity with both magic and might. You are able to blend magic with the martial arts. Choose a single cantrip you know that requires an attack or spell attack roll. You may substitute that cantrip as an attack when you take the attack action, as opposed to using your full action to cast that cantrip. Additionally, you are able to adopt a style of casting similar to how there are styles of fighting. Choose one of the following casting styles. #### **Brutal Spell** Your spells manifest with an oppressive and brutal pressure. You gain a +2 to your spell save DC. #### **Defensive Caster** You are adept at defensive stances and can utilize defense while casting a spell. If you take the cast a spell action, you can use your bonus action to take the dodge action. #### **Potent Spell** The damage of other caster's spells pales in comparison to yours. When you roll a 1 or 2 on the damage die for a spell you cast, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the roll is a 1 or a 2. #### **Precise Spell** Your spells are as accurate as the arrow of a bowfighter. You gain a +2 to spell attack rolls. ### Raw Magic Beginning at 14th level, the magic running through your veins condenses--its potency vastly increased. So much so that, if you will it, the raw magical power coursing through you can be used to damage your enemies. When you hit with a melee or spell attack, you may expend an amount of sorcery points you have to deal extra damage (to a single target if your attack targets multiple). The extra damage is equal to 1d6 force damage per sorcery point spent, and if you spend more than 5 sorcery points on an attack using this ability, the designated target must make a strength saving throw equal to your spell save DC or be knocked prone. *The extra damage granted by this ability cannot be affected by metamagic or the Potent Spell casting style.* \page ### Destiny of the Arcane Champion At 18th level, your magical and martial prowess is approaching its peak. You become aware of three paths that represent the pinnacle of sword and sorcery, however you may only realize one destiny. #### **Destiny of the Magic Arcane Champion** Your destiny favors that of magic. You gain the following benefits as you walk the path of the magic Arcane Champion. * **Signature Metamagic**, Choose one metamagic option you know. You may use that metamagic at no sorcery point cost. * **Spell-Like Ability**, The Arcane Champion can use one of their 6th level or lower Sorcerer spell slots to permanently gain one of their spells as a spell-like ability that they can use three times per long rest. The chosen spell does not count against the number of Sorcerer spells known. Additonally, the chosen spell cannot be a ritual spell or any spell with a casting time of longer than 1 hour. If the chosen spell requires concentration originally, the spell-like ability of it does not. The Arcane Champion does not use any material components when casting the spell (unless they have a specific gold value). The chosen spell can be upcasted, but the slot eliminated must reflect that upcast. For example, if an Arcane Champion wishes to have *Fireball* as a spell-like ability, but as a 6th level spell, they would permanently eliminate the 6th level spell slot and associated spell points if applicable. *Cost: permanent elimination of the spell slot of the spell-like ability and associated spell points*. * **Spell Capacitance**, The Arcane Champion gains an additional number of spells known equal to their Charisma modifier. #### **Destiny of the Martial Champion** Your destiny favors that of martial arts. You permanently lose the ability to cast 9th level spells, but in return your martial combat prowess is bolstered greatly. You gain the following benefits as you walk the path of the martial Arcane Champion. * **Arcanic Ward**, you are protected by your magic. When unarmored, you can now calculate your AC as 15 + your Charisma modifier. If you are wearing armor, your AC equals the armor's AC + your Charisma modifier. You may still use a shield and gain this benefit regardless if you are wearing armor or not. * **Battle Hardened**, you have taken many blows from weapons, your magic has become expectant. You gain resistance to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage. * **Extra Attack (3)**, you can attack three times, instead of twice, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. * **Keen**, your melee or spell attacks score a critical hit on a 19-20.

#### **Origin of the Source** The third destiny of the Arcane Champion, focused on balance between sword and sorcery, walks the path of the origin of sorcery. You gain the following benefits. * **One Source**, your magic pools into a single resevoir. The ratio for Sorcery Point--Spell Slot conversion is now 1:1 both ways. * **Soul Expansion**, your soul, the seed of your sorcerery, blossoms. Your Charisma score and Sorcery Points increase by 4 up to a maximum of 24. * **Source Regeneration**, your blossoming soul bears many fruits. If you are below your Sorcery Point maximum, you may spend your action to regenerate 1d4 Sorcery Points. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier. You regain all expended uses upon the completion of a long rest. \page ## New Cantrips

#### Arcane Strike *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** Self (5-foot radius) - **Components:** V, S - **Duration:** Instantaneous You coat your arms and legs in magical energy and strike a target exactly like you would engaging in unarmed combat. However, the force of the strike lies in the disharge of magic upon impact. Make a melee spell attack against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the creature takes 1d6 + your spell casting modifier in force damage. This spell's damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6). #### Ice Hammer *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** Self (5-foot radius) - **Components:** S, M (a melee weapon worth at least 1 sp) - **Duration:** Instantaneous You brandish the weapon used in the spell's casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack's normal effects and then becomes slammed with icy energy. The target takes 1d8 cold damage and the target must make a strength saving throw against your Spell Save DC or be knocked prone (if large or smaller). This spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8). #### Thundering Arrow *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** Self (120-foot radius) - **Components:** S, M (a ranged weapon worth at least 1 sp) - **Duration:** Instantaneous You brandish the weapon used in the spell's casting and make a ranged attack with it against one creature within 120 feet of you. *Note that this range may exceed the range of your weapon, in which case the spell's range does not extend the range of the weapon*. Upon a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack's normal effects and then takes 1d8 thunder damage as a bolt of thunderous energy explodes upon impact. This explosion can be heard up to 100 feet away. If the damage roll for this spell contains at least one instance of the highest number possible (8), the target must make a Constitution saving throw against your Spell Save DC or be stunned until the end of their next turn. This spell's damage increase by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8). ``` ``` ## New Spell(s)

#### Shield of Retribution *2nd level Abjuration* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** Self - **Components:** V, S - **Duration:** Concentration, up to 1 minute. An invisible barrier of volatile magical force appears and protects you. Until this spell ends, you have a +2 bonus to AC. Upon taking damage, you can use your reaction to shatter the shield and any creature you designate within 5 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Spell Save DC. A creature takes 3d6 force damage upon a failed save, or half as much upon a success. **At Higher Levels.** When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd. \page ## Feats to Consider

When attacking with this weapon, you gain a +2 weapon focus bonus on attack rolls. ### Weapon Specialization *Prerequisite: Weapon Focus (Weapon for this feat), 3rd level* You have become quite adept at wielding your weapon of choice. You gain a +2 weapon specialization bonus to the damage rolls with your specialized weapon.
