\page {{pageNumber,auto}} # Introduction Planetouched are the descendants (near or far) of a pairing between an elemental, fiend, celestial, or other entity native to a plane other than the Prime Material. Such creatures are collectively referred to as **outsiders**. As many of these beings are barely comprehensible to the minds of natives to the Prime Material Plane (called **Primes**), let alone possessing bodies capable of reproducing biologically, planetouched are relatively rare. However, planetouched blood may lie dormant for generations, only appearing under unpredictable circumstances. The members of short-lived races are often entirely unaware that their ancestors had dalliances with outsiders, and planetouched children can be born to what appear to be completely mundane parents. Some planetouched are also created when exposed to planar energies in the womb. A pregnant mage may unintentionally cause their child to become a genasi by traveling extensively through the Elemental Planes, while the survivor of a fiendish incursion may find themselves further cursed with a tiefling child. In more rare cases, adults exposed to concentrated planar energies may be transformed as well. Sometimes, powerful outsiders or deities will transform mortals into planetouched, though whether this transformation is viewed as a blessing or a curse may differ between the gifter and the recipient. Regardless of a specific origin, being planetouched is almost entirely random. Those who try to attain such status for themselves or their children are likely to end up dying horribly, obliterated by the raw energy of an elemental plane or tortured by an unfriendly outsider. And once the change has been made, it is generally irreversable outside of divine intervention. Natural-born planetouched who find themselves the target of societal hate often spend years searching in vain for a "cure". ### Humanity's Loose Standards A combination of bravery, foolishness, and extreme fertility means that humans are willing and able to reproduce with most anything they put their minds to. As such, humans reproduce with outsiders more often than most other races. They are considered to be the default race of a planetouched person's Prime parent(s) unless stated otherwise. However, it is not impossible for other Prime races to interact with outsiders. Should their Prime parent be from a non-human race, a given planetouched might have some features reminiscent of the Prime parent (pointed ears from an elf, a stockier frame and thick hair from a dwarf, exceedingly large eyes from a gnome, etc.). **Planetouched with non-human bloodlines do not gain the racial traits of that race, but can access feats available to them.** ### Rectangles Are Not Squares Some of the races here would seem to be superficially similar to others you may already be aware of. For \column example, fey'ri would appear to simply be elven tieflings, with celadrin being the elven equivalent to an aasimar. However, these races generally have certain traits that set them apart, listed below: * Most are a specific combination of a Prime race and an outsider. An elven aasimar could be the descendent of any kind of celestial and any subrace of elf, or could even have simply been exposed to concentrated energy from one of the Upper Planes. Celadrin, however are almost exclusively the descendants of firre eladrin celestials and high/sun elves. As such, a celadrin could be considered a type of aasimar, but not all elven aasimar are celadrin. * They are often a good deal closer in the family tree to their extraplanar ancestor and were created by intent rather than random chance. Tieflings can be removed from their fiendish forefather by thousands of years and a hundred generations, but a fey'ri is generally only one or two generations removed from the original pairing between a succubus and an elf. * Unlike many planetouched, these races have often formed their own culture, or at the very least a subculture within the greater society of their Prime relations. While a genasi may not meet another genasi throughout their entire life, azerbloods are generally raised by other azerbloods in stable communities with their own traditions and history. * The traits of these races breed true more often than those of other planetouched. This is generally directly related to the fact that they are so closely related to their extraplanar ancestor. Should a worghest take an goblin as a mate, their children are still extremely likely to be worghests as well, since their blood still has a strong planar influence on it. However, it is also due to the fact that they can find love with others of their kind and raise children within accepting societies. ## Shared Traits While they come from extremely different origins, there are a few traits that planetouched share that distingusih them from other races native to the worlds of the Prime. These are additional features that can be added to each planetouched races. They are generally niche abilities that won't come up often in gameplay, but were not included while balancing these races. As almost all of these races are on the extremely high end of balanced, these features are entirely **optional** and should be added individually at the DM's discretion. However, they are mostly for flavor and will add certain roleplaying options without unbalancing combat. ### Astral Cords The Astral Sea fills the planar space between the Prime Material and Outer Planes such as the Nine Hells, Elysium, and Limbo. When creatures native to the Prime sends their consciousness into the Astral Plane through \page {{pageNumber,auto}} magics such as the *astral projection* spell, a silver cord extends from their astral body back to their physical body. The severing of this cord results in instantaneous death for one's physical form and their soul is set adrift in the Astral. Many spiritual entities and creatures native to the Astral Plane have the ability to sever silver cords, making traveling to other planes via this method risky. However, even if a planetouched is born on the Prime, they do not have a silver cord while they move through the Astral Plane. They can innately find their way back to their physical bodies, and any disruption of the magic allowing them to project into the Astral (such as a *dispel magic* spell or either form being reduced to 0 hit points) results in the two forms being reunited as usual. ### Homeland You have advantage on rolls to resist the effects caused by spending time on the plane your outsider ancestor is from, as described in Chapter 2 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. ### Inhuman Your planetouched nature makes you both more and less than human. **You have a second creature type in addition to being a humanoid, as shown in the table below.** Spells or effects that affect either type will affect you. As an action, you can open your awareness to magically detect creatures that have the same type as you (as listed in the Planetouched Creature Types table above). This ability does not work on creatures that only have the humanoid creature type. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any such creatures within 60 feet of you that isn't behind total cover and that isn't protected from divination magic. This sense doesn't tell you anything about a creature's capabilities or identity. ### Portal Sense Planetouched always feel slightly disjointed when on a plane other than the one their outsider parent is native to, and within a limited range can sense where energy similar to their own is leaking into the plane they are on. You can sense portals to other planes. Within a radius of 5 miles, you know the exact location of any portals to the plane your outsider ancestor originated from (your "home plane"). Within a radius of 1 mile of you, you know of the existence, general direction, and the destination of any \column planar portals on the same planar level as your home plane (such as the Outer Planes, the Inner Planes, the Transitive Planes, or the Parallel Planes). Within 60 feet, you know of the existence and general direction of portals to any plane other than the one you are on. 1. Your DM may limit your ability to sense elemental creatures to the types related to your elemental manifestation (i.e. an ice genasi may be able to sense both water and air elementals, or only ice elementals). Additionally, your planar level might also only include elemental planes you are connected to (i.e. an ooze genasi couldn't sense portals to the plane Fire unless it was within 60 feet, but a portal to the Planes of Ooze, Water, and Earth within a mile).

2. While many races published by Wizards of the Coast are not planetouched in the technical sense, they have been strongly influenced by another plane. You can optionally apply these rules to them as well where relevant. The races include: centaurs (Feywild), changelings (Feywild), eladrin (Feywild), fairies (Feywild), githyanki (Astral), githzerai (Limbo), harengons (Feywild), satyrs (Feywild), shadar-kai (Shadowfell) and tritons (Water).

3. This ability and table are based on the Great Wheel cosmology presented in the Dungeon Master's Guide. Be sure to discuss with your DM how this ability may or may not fit into their cosmology.

4. As there are seventeen Outer Planes, you or your DM may decide to divide them into the smaller planar levels of the Upper Planes, Boundary Planes, and Lower Planes.

: Aasimar bear within their souls the light of the heavens. They are descended from humanoids with a touch of the power of the Upper Planes, the divine realms of many good deities. They are a people of otherworldly visages, with luminous features that reveal their celestial heritage. ### Celestial Champions Aasimar are placed in the world to serve as guardians of the forces their celestial ancestors follow. From an early age, an aasimar receives visions and guidance from celestial entities via dreams. These dreams help shape an aasimar, granting a sense of destiny and a desire for righteousness.Their patrons expect them to strike at evil, lead by example, and further the cause of justice. Each aasimar can count a specific celestial agent of the gods as a guide. For many, this entity is a deva, an angel who acts as a messenger to the Prime Material. However, there are many different kinds of celestials and the powers they serve are similarly diverse. Angels, einherjar, couatls, and many other celestials make the will of their masters felt in the Prime through aasimar children. ### Hidden Wanderers While aasimar are strident foes of evil, they typically prefer to keep a low profile. An aasimar inevitably draws the attention of evil cultists, fiends, and other enemies of \column

good, all of whom would be eager to strike down a celestial champion if they had the chance. Even the attention of those who hold them in awe and would shower them in praise and gifts can become grating after a time, and quiet anonymity is often preferred. When traveling, aasimar generally prefer hoods, closed helms, and other gear that allows them to conceal their identities. They nevertheless have no compunction about striking openly at evil. The secrecy they desire is never worth endangering the innocent. ### Celestial Guides An aasimar, except for one who has turned to evil, has a link to an celestial being. That being - usually a deva - provides guidance to the aasimar, though there are strict limits to how much the Upper Planes can directly influence the Prime Material and its inhabitants free will. As such, the guidance is rarely a direct command or a simple spoken word. Instead, the aasimar receives visions, prophecies, and feelings. Celestials are also far from omniscient. Their guidance is based on their own understandings of the tenets of law and good, and while they might have extremely useful insight, their analysis of a situation may not match that of their charge. ### Conflicted Souls Despite their celestial origin, an aasimar is mortal and possesses free will. Most aasimar follow their ordained path, but some grow to see their abilities as a curse. These disaffected aasimar are typically content to turn away from the world, but a few become agents of evil. In their minds, their exposure to celestial powers amounted to little more than brainwashing. Evil aasimar make deadly foes. The radiant power they once commanded becomes corrupted into a horrid, draining magic and their celestial guides often abandon them. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

Even aasimar wholly dedicated to good sometimes feel torn between two worlds. The celestials that guide them see the world from a distant perch. An aasimar who wishes to stop and help a town recover from a drought might be told by an angelic guide to push forward on a greater quest. To a distant angel, saving a few commoners might pale in comparison to defeating a cult of Orcus. An aasimar's guide is wise but not infallible. ### Aasimar Names Most aasimar are born from human parents, and they use the same naming conventions as their native culture. ### Aasimar Traits Your aasimar character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2. **Age.** Aasimar mature at the same rate as their Prime parents, but can live up to twice as long. **Alignment.** Imbued with celestial power, most aasimar are good. Outcast aasimar are most often neutral or evil. **Size.** Aasimar have the same range of height and weight as their Prime parents. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial. **Darkvision.** Your vision can easily cut through the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Celestial Resistance.** You have resistance to necrotic damage and radiant damage. **Healing Hands.** As an action, you can touch a creature and cause it to regain a number of hit points equal to your level. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

The celestial is your chance to add special roleplaying opportunities to the game, primarily by deciding what kind of advice or omens to send in dreams. Remember, celestials live in realms that utterly embody a given alignment. For example, a deva is an angel from Mount Celestia, a plane of lawfulness and good. The deva might not understand the compromises and hard choices that mortals must grapple with in the world. A celestial from a more chaotic plane might be more accepting of alternative ideas, but their information and plans may be risky. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it. **Subrace.** There are a number of aasimar subraces, primarily based on the type of celestial they are descended from or which plane their celestial ancestor hailed from. #### Protector Aasimar From a young age, protector aasimar are charged by the powers of good to guard the weak, to strike at evil wherever it arises, and to stand vigilant against the shadows. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 1. **Radiant Soul.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing your entire body to shine with crystalline light that blazes in defiance of the dark. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. Bright light shines from you in a 20-foot radius, and a dim light shines for 20 feet beyond that. The bright light is considered difficult terrain for hostile creatures, and magical darkness within the area is dispelled if created by spells of a level less than or equal to half your own (rounded down. Additionally, ranged attacks against you have disadvantage. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. #### Scourge Aasimar Scourge aasimar are imbued with a divine energy that blazes intensely within them. It feeds a powerful desire to destroy evil - a desire that is, at its best, unflinching and, at its worst, all-consuming. Many scourge aasimar wear masks to block out the world and focus on containing this power, unmasking themselves only in battle. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1. **Radiant Consumption.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing a searing light to radiate from you. It pours out of your eyes and mouth, and its power threatens to burn you from the inside out. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. During it, you shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet, and at the end of each of your turns, you and each creature within 10 feet of you take radiant damage equal to half your level (rounded up). In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra radiant damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra radiant damage equals your level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. #### Fallen Aasimar An aasimar who was touched by dark powers as a youth or who turns to evil in early adulthood can become one of the fallen-a group of aasimar whose inner light has been replaced by shadow. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength score increases by 1. **Necrotic Shroud.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing your eyes to turn into pools of darkness and two skeletal, ghostly, flightless wings to sprout from your back. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. The instant you transform, other creatures within 10 feet of you that can see you must each succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn. In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra necrotic damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra necrotic damage equals your level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again.

#### Balance Aasimar Some aasimar are born of celestial entities that are less concerned with rigid order or chaotic freedom, instead working to find a middle ground between the two. Originating from the plane of Elysium, their offspring are healers and warriors, leaders unafraid of either welcoming a friend with open arms or taking war to a foe. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1. This replaces the base Ability Score Increase of other aasimar. **Alignment.** Balance aasimar, unsurprisingly, are more aligned with neutrality than other aasimar, but most are still forces of good in the world. **Trance.** You don't need to sleep. Instead, you meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefits that most people do from 8 hours of sleep. This replaces your *healing hands* racial trait. **Cosmic Shape.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing a number of powerful magical arms to unfold from your back. With these arms you can counteract the harm in a creature's past and guard it from pain in the future. Each point a creature receives grants them an equal number of hit points and an equal number of temporary hit points. Once the energy from this pool has been spent, it is not regained until you use this feature again. Points left unspent when your transformation ends are lost. In addition, each of your hands holds an incorporeal weapon or strikes with metaphysical force. Once on each of your turns, you can deal extra force damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. Each pair of arms does 4 points of force damage. Your magical arms are incorporeal and cannot be used to physically interact with objects or do anything else that would require any kind of action. They provide no bonus to any ability scores or checks. Your natural arms do not count towards the total when calculating healing, temporary hit points, or damage. Blade aasimar tend to be rowdier than most other kinds of aasimar, delighting in raucous festivities. However, when the time comes for battle, anyone would be happy to have a blade aasimar at their side. They can (as the name suggests) cut through a battlefield like a scythe through wheat, combining strength with a natural skill that few can match. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1. This replaces the base Ability Score Increase of other aasimar. **Alignment.** Blade aasimar tend towards chaotic alignments more than other aasimar. **Blade Soul.** You know the *sword burst ^(TCoE)* cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it. This replaces your *light bearer* racial trait. **Divine Assault.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to attune yourself to the warrior's heart within you, calling out for glorious battle. Your arms and armor gleam with light and your movements become fluid as spirits of warriors past join with you to defeat your foes. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you use a bonus action to end it. For the duration, you ignore the effects of any levels of Exhaustion you currently have and gain a +2 bonus to your AC and weapon attack rolls. In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra force damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra force damage equals your level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ## Racial Feats ### Army of One *Prerequisite: Aasimar (Blade), 8th level* ___ You are an unstoppable force in battle, taking on hordes of enemies with the help of ethereal blades that mimic your own strikes. Primal guides are less concerned with law and good and more with survival and guarding what is yours. }} \column #### Primal Aasimar While most people think of angels or perhaps other humanoid beings when they hear the word "celestials," the Upper Planes are also home to innumerable celestial entities that take the form of animals, particularly in the wild environments of the Beastlands. Some would be familiar to visitors from the Material Plane, while others are unique to the plane they are found on or are even singular entities within the multiverse. Their descendants are fierce defenders of nature, protecting the flora and fauna of their homelands to the death. While no less beautiful than other aasimar, they are somewhat less charming and take on many bestial features. Most have claws and eyes similar to a cat or other predator, but they can also have antennae, spines, fur, scales, antlers, fangs, or feathers. In this case, it is perhaps best not to ask how their Prime ancestors combined their bloodline with that of a celestial.... **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1. This replaces the base Ability Score Increase of other aasimar. **Alignment.** Primal aasimar tend toward chaotic and neutral alignments more than most other aasimar (embodying the fierce and uncaring force of Nature and its beasts) but are still rarely evil. **Claws.** You have claws that are natural weapons with the *finesse* property, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to ld6 + your Strength/Dexterity modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. At 6th level, your claw attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. This replaces your *healing hands* racial trait. **Wildspeech.** You have the ability to communicate in a limited manner with beasts. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return. This replaces your *light bearer* racial trait. **Sacred Beast.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the beast within yourself. Your claws and eyes glow, and you move with inhuman speed. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you use a bonus action to end it. For the duration, your speed is increased by 15 feet. You gain temporary hit points equal to your level which last until your transformation ends. #### Shimmer Aasimar Shimmer aasimar are almost exclusively descended from couatls from Mount Celestia. Nearly as vibrant as their ancestors, most have a crown of iridescent feathers mixed into or in place of their hair, and they are remarkably beautiful even for aasimar. Despite this, they are also incredibly shy. They spend much of their time alone, wandering forgotten places until they find one that speaks to their soul. From then on, they are a hidden guardian of that place. Intruders hear entrancing voices in both their ears and minds, but any attempt to find the source fails. A fallen shimmer aasimar is an absolute terror to all who come upon them or their self-declared holy site. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 1. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write Draconic. **Mind Walker.** You can speak telepathically to any number of creatures within 10 feet of you, or a single creature that is within 30 feet of you. Your telepathic utterances are in a language you know, and the creature understands you only if it knows that language. Your communication doesn't give the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically. Additionally, creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it. This replaces your *light bearer* racial trait. **Seraphic Veil.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to veil your beauty from the world and become a deadly avatar of psionic energy. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you use a bonus action to end it. For the duration, you become invisible at the start of each of your turns. You remain invisible until you attack, make a damage roll, or force someone to make a saving throw. In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra psychic damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra psychic damage equals your level. ## Azerblood *"You may not wish to admit it, Lord Steelhold, but we do not have the manpower to fight a dragon, let alone drive out two."* *He ground his teeth. "You would rather we flee? The dwarves of Yazdigol are not cowards. If we die reclaiming the tunnels our forefathers carved with their own hands, then so be it."* *The door to the council chamber boomed open, and for a moment Vadrik nearly lost his temper, raging at the interruption during such a crucial meeting and spinning to vent that rage on whatever fool walked in. He stopped when he saw the troop of red-headed dwarves that stood in the doorway. At first, he thought they were clad entirely in bronze armor, but in truth they were near naked and their very skin seemed to be made of metal. A moment later he noticed the odd flickering nature of their hair and beards. He realized who they were at the same time that Tomrin blurted out "Azerbloods!"* *Ignoring the outburst, the lead azerblood spoke. "I 'preciate a good honor-bound suicide mission as much as the next dwarf, but you won't be needing all that today. Clan Flamerust'll help you slay those damned ice lizards, and crisp 'em up to serve at the victory feast to boot!"* : The true origins of azers have been lost even to the azers themselves, but the fact that they can so easily create azerblood children with dwarves does lend credence to the tale that they used to be dwarves as well, slowly warped by their time on the Elemental Plane of Fire and their enslavement by both fire giants and efreeti. While azerbloods are not particularly common, they are embraced by dwarven communities in a way that most other planetouched could only dream of. ### Blood, Bronze, and Flame While azers could almost be considered constructs, each one being forged by their kin out of brass and elemental fire, azerbloods are flesh and blood. However, their skin is still reinforced with metal, and many retain the azer tradition of charging into battle only lightly clad in armor. Many wear nothing more than a metal kilt. Their extraplanar heritage is also apparent in their hair. While red or orange hair is not uncommon among dwarves, few azerbloods are born with any other color. The curls and waves of their hair and beards flicker like flame, occasionally even becoming flame in truth when they become excited or upset. ### Dwarven Ideal While most planetouched deviate from the principles of their Prime kin or simply view the world in such a different way that they can't possible relate, azerbloods are often viewed as the pinnacle of dwarven cultural ideals. They are orderly, lawful people and have inherited the skill of azers when it comes to crafting and blacksmithing. This skill is enhanced by their natural \column resilience to heat, and the greatest dwarven smiths turn green with envy watching an azerblood hammer a blade in the very heart of a forge. Dwarves are not prone to effusive praise or idol worship, but they'll make exceptions for azerbloods. Despite this, most azerbloods live separate from the dwarves they were born to. They don't enjoy fawning sycophants, and while they are perfectly happy fulfilling their duty, most quickly realize that they will be shoved into positions of leadership they don't actually desire by dwarves who view them as perfect for the job. Azerblood communities are tight-knit and largely closed to outsiders, though they show no reluctance to help defend the larger dwarven community. ### Ferocious Skill While not bloodthirsty, azerbloods delight in battle. They are not only powerful fighters, wielding weapons heavy enough to make even a giant take pause, they are often master tacticians. A unit of azerbloods is impeccably coordinated, and they serve as the cornerstone in any larger force, holding the line no matter what. Their metallic skin means that all but the sharpest blades bounce off them and they can conjure flame to wreathe their weapons. Some can even kindle the elemental fire within them, causing their skin to glow cherry red and letting them burn through the enemy like a hot knife through butter.

### Azerblood Names Azerbloods consider themselves dwarves and as such use dwarven naming conventions. ### Azerblood Traits Your azerblood character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength and Constitution scores increase by 2. **Age.** Azerbloods mature at about the same rate as dwarves, reaching adulthood around fifty. They can live longer than their dwarven kin, with some living upwards of 500 years. **Alignment.** Despite the chaotic nature of fire, azerbloods are generally lawful, desiring honor and order within their communities. While they are less morally strict than dwarves due to their elemental nature, they do still tend towards goodness. **Size.** Azerbloods stand between 4 and 5 feet tall and average about 300 pounds, though this is due to the metallic nature of their flesh rather than being fatter or more muscular than dwarves. Your size is Medium. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 25 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Dwarven, Ignan, and Common.

You become a hollow vessel for this flame, causing your hair to ignite, fire to flare from your mouth and eyes, and your metallic flesh to glow red hot. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. For the duration, you shed bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for 20 feet beyond that. At the end of each of your turns, each creature within 10 feet of you takes fire damage equal to your level. Fire damage from this feature ignores resistance. However, you are not a true azer and your body is damaged by this channeling. You take fire damage equal to half your level at the same time, and you lose the effects of your *cast in bronze* racial trait until the effect ends. : Celadrin are the celestially planetouched descendants of firre eladrin and sun elves. Brilliant, beautiful, and fierce, they are the jewel of elvenkind. ### Elven Epitome Celadrin are most often purposely conceived at fertility rites during the summer solstice. Like both their celestial and elven kin, they revel in freedom and song. They are extremely beautiful, even by elven standards, with an inner warmth that makes them seem almost to glow. Most have hair of burnished copper or varying shades of red, and their eyes glow like burnings coals. They enhance this natural beauty by adorning themselves with garments of luxurious fabrics accented by exquisite jewelry. But what truly defines a celadrin is a trait they inherit from the firre: they love to travel above all else. Their greatest desire is to see and experience the full breadth of the world. ### Burning Bright Many celadrin become traveling bards, wandering the roads for several centuries before even considering settling down. They are adored nearly anywhere they go, and they're clever enough to talk their way out of any situation where they are not so beloved. Despite their charms, one would be wise not to let a celadrin's beauty lure them into the belief that he is harmless. Celadrin are just as likely to become deadly warriors as they are to be bards, with centuries to perfect their talents, and no celadrin is ever defenseless when they can wield their inner fire. Their carefree natures give way to terrifying, all-consuming wrath when they are roused. ### Eternal Flame Elves already live for a very long time, and with the addition of celestial blood, celadrin can count their lifespans in millenia. While some would consider this a blessing, most celadrin would not agree. Even among elves, at a certain point everyone is a child in their eyes, though elves are more understanding of this experience than others. Eventually, all the people they love leave \column

them over and over again. While they may enjoy the journey in and of itself, many travel simply so that they can avoid developing ties to anyone. Still, a person who earns the love and affection of a celadrin should know they will have that love for the rest of their days and beyond. ### Celadrin Names Most celadrin have elven names. However, as time passes and the people who knew them pass on, they may take on new names in any number of other languages depending on who they spend their time with.

### Celadrin Traits Your celadrin character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1. **Age.** Celadrin can live upwards of 2500 years. **Alignment.** Celadrin are usually chaotic good. **Size.** Celadrin are usually between 5 and 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write the Common, Elven, and Celestial languages. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Everything you see in darkness is in shades of red and orange. **Fey Ancestry.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep. **Trance.** Celadrin don't need to sleep. Instead, they enter a semiconscious trance for 4 hours a day. This trance is the equivalent of 8 hours of sleep for most other races. **Melodius Voice.** Your voice borders upon the divine. You are proficient in your choice of one of the following skills: Deception, Performance, or Persuasion. **Fiery Nature.** You have resistance to fire damage. You can also ignite flammable object that aren't being worn or carried with your touch. \column **Burning Gaze.** Your heritage burns brightest in your eyes. If a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of you and the two of you can see each other, as a bonus action you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). A creature that isn't surprised can avert its eyes to avoid making the saving throw. If it does so, it can't see you until the start of its next turn. If it looks at you in the meantime, it must immediately make the save. On a failed save, the creature is blinded for 1 minute and takes 3d6 fire damage. It can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns to end the blinded effect. The effect also ends if the creature starts its turn more than 30 feet away from you or if you do not use your bonus action each turn to maintain the effect. You can use this ability once, after which you must complete a long rest before doing so again. If a creature averts its eyes, you do not lose this use. ## Racial Feats As a celadrin, you have access to feats available to high elves as well as those listed here. ### Fire Dancer *Prerequisite: Celadrin, 8th level* ___ Your control over flame grows, as does your power to charm. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * You learn the *sacred flame* and *control flames* cantrip. You can cast the *faerie fire* and *continual flames* spells once each with this trait. When you cast a spell using this feature, it requires no material components. You regain the ability to cast a spell this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level or higher. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. * When you cast a spell of 1st-level or higher that involves the creation of any kind of fire, you can attempt to charm a creature within 30 feet of you that can see you as a bonus action. The creature must succeed a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be charmed by you for 1 minute. They can repeat the saving throw if you or your allies do any harm to them. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. {{note While not as common, some celadrin have celestial guides much like aasimar. Eladrin celestial guides are generally rather carefree, and will check in on their charges only occasionally when they randomly remember or are struck by a whim. Two big blue bastards came at me, and one broke my leg. I thought I was done for, but he'd only done that so I wouldn't run away, to make sure I watched as the two of them tore each other apart.* *The noises were unbearable. Some of them made this noise that made me want to throw up, and run, and pass out. But even worse was the giggling. I don't even know if half of them knew what they were doing. * : Chaonds are the descendants of slaadi. How this is even possible considering slaadi don't breed in the conventional sense is unknown, but as manifestions of the pure chaos of Limbo, no one really questions it. Even tieflings are more welcomed in most societies than chaonds, no matter what kind of slaadi they are descended from. ### Body of Chaos While they are almost all humanoid, chaonds have very little in the way of consistent features. The chaos of their extraplanar ancestors has amplified the diversity of humanoids to unnatural degrees. Most look like their toad-like slaadi kin. Bulging muscles are as common as scrawny runts. Body parts often don't match the size of the rest of the body, and extremities and orifices are often optional. Even the color of their skin is inconsistent, despite them generally being categorized by which color slaad was their ancestor. Never assume you know what a chaond can do or what one should look like. ### Wild Minds Like slaadi, chaonds aren't necessarily mad. They simply have such an odd way of viewing the world that it's difficult to predict what will motivate them. While this effect is slightly tempered by their Prime blood, Primes on the whole aren't exactly the most predictable people themselves. Conversations can often seem nonsensical, though that doesn't mean that they actually are. Being kind or helpful to a chaond isn't necessarily going to engender what most would consider a positive reaction, and not necessarily because they disdain the help, but because they might not *view it* as help. Alternatively, a response others might consider violent and ungrateful might be a chaond's attempt at affection. \column ### Societal Struggle Even in chaotic societies, chaonds are unlikely to engender much love for themselves. Their seemingly random response to *everything* frustrates even the most lawless of people, and they often end up either living on the fringes or outside of society. While they may struggle to express it, few chaonds are happy with this rejection. Still, with love and care from others, chaonds can learn how to make themselves understood and to understand non-chaonds. Some who manage to achieve this work to help other do the same. ### Chaond Names Chaonds generally have names from the cultures of their Prime parents, though they are just as likely to come up with their own name at any point in their life. ### Chaond Traits Your chaond character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1. **Age.** Chaonds very rarely stay in the company of the same people long enough for their lifespans to be accurately measured and often live dangerous lives. It's possible that they live longer lives than their Prime kin, or significantly shorter ones. Each one could even be unique. **Alignment.** Unsurprisingly, chaonds are almost always chaotic. Most people would consider a lawful chaond to be a creature out of a fairy tale. They also tend towards neutrality when it comes to the debate between good and evil, primarily focused on their own inscrutable goals, but any moral alignment is possible. **Size.** In general, chaonds are the same size as their Prime parents, though they can be much larger or smaller. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write Common. You can speak the Slaad language, though it has no written form. Once a day, you can roll a d8 when you would like to speak a language you don't know. If you roll a 1, you read, speak, and write that language for 1 hour. **Blood of Chaos.** When you complete a long rest, you must roll a d10. Your result determines the type of resistance you have until the end of your next long rest, as shown on the chart below. **Subrace.** While chaonds by their very nature aren't well standardized, in general they have variations based on the type of slaadi they are descended from. Choose one of these subraces. #### Blood Chaond Descended from red slaadi, blood chaonds tend to be short and quick. Notably, they are powerful jumpers, and those who fight them are often shocked to see them flying across the battlefield to slam into their targets. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2. **Croak.** When you reach 3rd level, you can let out a mind-warping croak as a bonus action. All creatures within 15 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, a target is stunned until the end of its next turn. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Leaper.** You can make a long jump up to 25 feet and a high jump up to 15 feet, with or without a running start. Additionally, if a large or smaller creature is at least 10 feet away from you but still within your jump distance, you can pounce on it as part of your movement, forcing it to make a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone. If the target is knocked prone, you can make one melee weapon attack against it as a bonus action. #### Talon Chaond Descended from blue slaadi, talon chaonds are hulking folk who are happy to throw their weight around. \column Additionally, they have two razor sharp blades that shoot out of each wrist, formed from a material unknown to either magic or science. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1. **Powerful Build.** You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift. **Brawler.** You can grapple or shove creatures up to two sizes larger than you. Additionally, when you successfully shove a creature, you can move them up to 15 feet away. **Wrist Blades.** You have retractable blades in your wrists that you can use as natural melee weapons that you are proficient with. These blades do 1d4 + your Strength or Dexterity modifier slashing damage, and have the *finesse* and *light* properties. While you use your blades, your hands cannot precisely manipulate anything, perform the somatic component of spells, or use other weapons, magic items, or other specialized equipment. The blades do not require an action to extend or retract. #### Curse Chaond Curse chaonds are descended from green slaadi and have retained their talent for magic. Most are tall and thin, and often have bulbous eyes. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 2. **Mask.** At 3rd level, you can physically transform yourself for up to 1 hour. Doing so requires concentration as if concentrating on a spell. You can change your height, weight, coloration, hair length, and sex. You can make yourself appear as another race. Your size, statistics, and basic arrangement of limbs do not change. Your clothing and equipment aren't changed by this trait. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Limbo Leak.** Also at 3rd level, you learn the *chaos bolt ^(XGtE)* spell. You can cast the spell using any spell slots you have of 1st level or higher and count it as being on the spell list of any class that provides those spell slots. Additionally, you can cast this spell once without expending a spell slot, regaining the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for this. When you gain this feature, you can cast it as a 2nd-level spell. At 6th level and every two levels after that, you can increase the spell level by 1, up to a 6th level spell at 12th level. #### Rift Chaond Like curse chaonds, rift chaonds are also skilled magic users, being descended from the gray slaadi that greens eventually evolve into. However, they are more resiliant and enjoy the creation and collection of magical items. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 2. **Tool Proficiency.** You gain proficiency with two of the following artisan's tools of your choice: alchemist's supplies, calligrapher's supplies, jeweler's tools, leatherworker's tools, smith's tools, weaver's tools, or woodcarver's tools. \page

**Noncompliance.** As a reaction when you have the blinded, deafened, paralyzed, poisoned, or stunned conditions imposed on you, you can instead attempt to transfer that condition to another creature within 15 feet of you. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failure, the creature takes on the effects of the condition, with the same duration and opportunities to negate it as you would have had. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Mayhem Magic.** When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the *shatter* and *blink* spells once each with this trait. When you cast a spell using this trait, it requires no material components. You regain the ability to cast a spell this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast them using spell slots you have of the spell's level or higher. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these. #### Chrono Chaond White slaadi and their descendants are even more uncommon than others. Chrono chaonds have the limited talent for manipulating time itself and are the only kind to inherit the telepathic abilities of their slaadi ancestors. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2. **Speed.** Your base movement speed is increased to 35 feet. **Rapid Recovery.** Rather than slowing down when you sleep, your body moves through the time stream even more rapidly than usual. You require only 4 hours of sleep to gain the benefits that most gain from 8 hours of rest. **Paradox.** You cause projections of yourself from slightly different timelines to appear around you, mimicking the effects of the *mirror image* spell. You can use this feature twice times, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Mind Walker.** You can speak telepathically to any number of creatures within 10 feet of you, or a single creature that is within 30 feet of you. Your telepathic utterances are in a language you know, and the creature understands you only if it knows that language. Your communication doesn't give the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically. #### Void Chaond Black slaadi are incredibly rare, having survived several centuries and rivaling ancient dragons in power. Their planetouched offspring are even rarer, because a black slaad is likely to destroy everything in the immediate area. The touch of nearly pure chaos on void chaonds' minds has revealed secrets unimagined by the sane. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 2. **Limbosight.** Darkness and light are aspects of order and reality that have little meaning to you. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can see in magical darkness within 10 feet of you as if it were dim light. \column **Entropic Truth.** As an action, you speak a horrible, incomprehensible truth directly into the mind of a creature within 30 feet of you. The creature must make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). On failure, the creature takes 2d6 psychic damage and is blinded and deafened until the end of the target's next turn. The damage increases to 3d6 at 5th level, 4d6 at 10th level, and 5d6 at 15th level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ## Racial Feats ### Chaos Incarnate *Prerequisite: Chaond, 8th level* ___ You gain some control over your own chaotic influence on the world. You gain the following benefits: * When you complete a long rest and roll to determine what resistance you have as part of your Blood of Chaos feature, roll twice. You gain the results of both. * Once per long rest, you can choose to reroll all the damage dice for an attack roll. You must use the new results. * Once per long rest as a bonus action, you can throw a battlefield into chaos. Every creature that is currently part of the initiative order (including yourself) must reroll their initiative. You can add your usual modifiers to the initiative roll, but all other creatures must roll a d20 with no modifiers. Combat continues as if a new round had started.

## Draegloth *The beast before him was a massive knot of heaving muscle, bloody saliva dripping from its maw as it rooted around in the guts of the slain ogre. Rowan remained perfectly still, terrified to attract the attention of whatever could so easily dispatch an enemy that was thrice his own small size. Beside him, he heard K'zaldim breathe "draegloth". The whispered word was soaked with fear and respect.* *The creature looked up and bared its fangs in a terrible smile, an expression that nearly caused Rowan to pass out even when not directed at him. Still grinning, it said in a deep voice, "Hello, little cousin. Have you brought me this little surface morsel for dessert? The ogre was already so tasty."* : While half-fiends are not as uncommon as many would wish, draegloths are some of the only half-fiends whose Prime parents intentionally seek out their creation. The result of congress between a drow and a glabrezu demon, draegloth are hulking and powerful beings whose very presence strikes fear into the hearts of others.

\column ### Unholy Countenance Draegloth are massive creatures, with some being upwards of 8 feet tall and weighing over 400 pounds, most of which is muscle. While they have the flawless dark skin and entrancing eyes of the drow, little else of the dark elven beauty remains, overwhelmed by demonic features. A shaggy mane of white, silver, or pale yellow hair runs down their backs, with a light coating of similar fur covering most of the remainder of their thick hides. They have the snarling hound faces of their demonic parents, as well as digitigrade clawed feet. However, the truly defining features of these beings are their four arms: the upper two are as heavily muscled as an ogre's and end in distended fingers with razor sharp claws, while the lower pair sport the delicate, dexterous hands of a drow. Male draegloth form the overwhelming majority of this race, with females only being around 1% of the population, though there is little physical difference between genders and they do not breed. ### Brutal Icons Among the more violent drow cultures, the birth of a draegloth is actively sought out, with priestesses summoning glabrezu demons in unholy rituals in hopes of bearing their spawn. Such children are seen as a great blessing from the dark gods of the drow, and families who have a draegloth member gain an immediate boost in status and respect. Draegloth do not remain children for long however, attaining their full growth within a few short years. In that time, most are trained as savage fighters, taught to revel in bloodshed and suffering. Within matriarchal drow societies, female draegloth are the sole responsibility of the temple, and many become dark clerics of significant power. While few draegloth become true leaders, they are generally at the front of any attack by their house's forces. Some become counselors to their house leaders, and it is considered unwise to ignore their advice, though it is often very direct compared to the usual drow instinct for intrigue. A leader should always remain wary of their half-demonic kin, however, as both demons and evil drow espouse the belief that a weak leader deserves to be removed. Draegloth will serve with utter, unquestioning loyalty...right up to the point they believe that the person they serve no longer deserves it. ### Escaping Dark Heritage Some draegloth find themselves outside the spheres of evil influence. They may have been trapped on the surface following the defeat of a drow raiding party, captured by worshippers of kinder gods, or been the result of a terrible attack against good drow rather than a purposeful ritual. Regardless of how they came to be, these draegloth can (with work) throw off the oppressive shackles of their demonic blood. They become devoted guardians of their homes and families, but avoid the unnecessary violence and bloodshed that is encouraged by evil groups. \page {{pageNumber,auto}} ### Draegloth Names Draegloth generally retain drow names, though Abyssal names are not uncommon. Some who are embraced by non-drow groups will choose new names from the languages of their found families.

### Draegloth Traits Your draegloth character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength and Dexterity scores increase by 2. **Age.** Ironically considering their long-lived forebears, draegloth only have a maximum lifespan of about 300 years. However, due to their tendency be at the heart of violent conflict, most don't live longer than a century. Physically, draegloth reach maturity before the age of 10, but their emotional maturity does not match their rapid growth, and most continue to act like incredibly powerful children for the majority of their lives. **Alignment.** Since draegloths are almost exclusively the result of evil drow consorting with even more vile demons, a large percentage of them are chaotic evil. However, it is not unknown for a draegloth who spends time away from darker influences to be of neutral or even (in rare cases) good alignment, though they likely retain a chaotic bent. **Size.** Draegloth are tall and musclebound, standing between 7 and 8 feet tall and weighing between 300 and 400 pounds. Your size is Medium. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write Elvish (Drow), Abyssal, and Undercommon. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 40 feet. **Darkvision.** Draegloth can see quite well in the dark, though not quite so well as their drow kin. This is offset by the fact that they have no weakness to sunlight. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Powerful Build.** You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift, and you can grapple or shove creatures up to two sizes larger than you. **Extra Arms.** Above your normal arms, you have an additional large pair of muscular arms ending in twisted claws. As an action, you can use one of them to grapple a creature. Each one is also a natural weapon, which you can use to make an unarmed strike with. If you hit them, they do 1D6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage. Your malformed hands are not dexterous enough to use weapons, magic items, or other specialized equipment. **Natural Armor.** You have the thick demonic hide. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Strength modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would result in a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor. **Drow Magic.** When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the *darkness* spell once with this trait, requiring no material components or concentration. You regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. \column

***Note:** Several of the runes originally written here have been removed for the safety of the reader and perhaps the very multiverse itself.* : Farspawn have been touched by the madness inducing unreality of the Far Realm, that non-universe outside our own where aberrations such as aboleths, beholders, and mind flayers are some of the tamest things you're likely to run across. ### Outside the Outside Whether outer, inner, transitive, or parallel, the planes are dangerous by their very nature, and any is likely to have inhabitants hostile to mortals from the Prime. But all of them are still a part of the same multiverse, and while they might conflict at times, even the most chaotic are part of a structured whole. The same cannot be said of the Far Realm. To even call it a plane is technically incorrect. It is the polar opposite of whatever makes up our reality, and the essence of that place is utterly inimical to that of our own multiverse. Few people survive even minimal exposure to the Far Realm without being driven mad at the very least. Heavier exposure is more likely to outright kill. Additionally, the clearest goal of most of the Far Realm's inhabitants is the complete annihilation of anything from our reality down to the last particle. As such, farspawn are incredibly rare, even for planetouched. ### Nightmare Children Most farspawn are killed at birth, being seen as horrible monsters. There is no way to predict what a farspawn will look like, but it is rarely anything that could be described \column

as pleasant. Protusions of unidentifiable material and unnatural sharpness can jut out of their bodies, many have tentacles or clawlike appendages in addition to or in place of what is standard for most humanoids, and extra sensory organs sprout across their skin. The biological symmetry of a standard humanoid is often strained at best, with limbs and features appearing seemingly at random. The one trait they all share is their telepthic abilities. Most farspawn who survive infancy do so because they have been unconsciously affecting the minds of those around them from within the womb. Even as they grow older, they use their abilities mostly on instinct, often having a poor concept of boundaries when it comes to entering the minds of others. People generally suffer both physical and psychic discomfort in the presence of farspawn. The feelings may fade in time, but whether that is due to eventual acceptance or telepathic meddling is always unclear. ### Irrational Rationale Considering their rarity, farspawn do not have much in the way of their own culture. Even if they did gather together, it is unlikely that most Primes (or *any* entity not originating from the Far Realm) would be able to understand much of farspawn society, and the lack of understanding is mutual. No matter how much time they spend among the people of the Prime, no matter how different those people might be, farspawn struggle to understand their motivations and morals. rarely equals four in the mind of a farspawn, and the concepts most Primes consider to be basic and immutable simply do not compute. ### Farspawn Names Farspawn use names common to the culture of their Prime parents. Most feel no strong connection to these names, but also feel no need for a replacement. However, some do find that names in Deep Speech (augmented by telepathic impressions) can capture their identity better than their given names and will use those instead. Such names are prone to change at a moment's notice and are extremely difficult to pronounce or understand. ### Farspawn Traits Your farspawn character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution, Wisdom and Charisma scores increase by 1. **Age.** It's unknown how long farspawn can live. Most vanish or are slain before dying of natural causes. Their rate of aging is also inconsistent between individuals, with some reaching maturity in a few short years and others remaining eternal children. It may be that each farspawn has a completely different lifespan. **Alignment.** Farspawn tend to be chaotic neutral, caring little for rules they will never understand. While others might consider them to be evil, they rarely cause harm for its own sake, simply not caring one way or the other how their actions affect others. **Size.** Farspawn have no standard size, regardless of their Prime parents. Your size is either Small or Medium. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write Common and Deep Speech. You can also speak telepathically to any number of creatures within 10 feet of you, or a single creature that is within 30 feet of you. Your telepathic \column

utterances are in a language you know, and the creature understands you only if it knows that language. Your communication doesn't give the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically. **Horror.** You have proficiency in the Intimidation skill. **Fear Parasite.** Frightened creatures within 60 feet of you are considered to be frightened by you as well, regardless of the source of the effect. **Unreal Mind.** When a creature attempts to read your thoughts or influence your mind (such as with a charm or fear effect) against your wishes, you can deal 2d6 psychic damage to the creature as a reaction. This damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. **Abberant Physiology.** Your internal organs are in different positions than most people would expect them to be. As such, when an enemy rolls a critical hit with an attack roll or makes a sneak attack against you, they must confirm the additional damage by rolling a d4. On a roll of 1, any additional damage from the sneak attack or critical hit is negated. Additionally, at 5th level, you can select one of the following mutations: * *Acid Spit.* As an action, you can spray acid from glands in your mouth, targeting one creature or object you can see or hear within 30 feet of you. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + you proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). The target takes 2d10 acid damage if they fail. The damage increases to 3d10 at 11th level and 4d10 at 16th level. As an action, you can use one of them to grapple a creature. Each one is also a natural weapon that you can use to make unarmed attacks. If you hit, they do 1d6 + your Strength modifier bludgeoning damage. Immediately after hitting, you can try to grapple the target as a bonus action. ## Fey'ri *Maxis had taken the man before him to be an elf, but as the glamour fell from his eyes he could not believe he had missed the delicate horns upon his brow, the black claws on his hands, or the whip-like tail that flickered behind him. His beauty was even greater than that of the elf he had pretended to be, but it was a terrible beauty. The light reflected off his oiled skin in way that made you want to bite it, bite till you tasted blood. The sheer black silk of his garment begged to be ripped away in shreds, the spun gold chains hungry to cut into his flesh as they pulled tight. And his eyes, beautiful eyes, captivating eyes, eyes like a summer sky....they were mad as a rabid hound's....and hungry...and focused directly on Maxis.* : Fey'ri are elven planetouched very similar to tieflings, but their fiendish ancestor is not nearly so far removed. The power of the Abyss runs strongly through them. Rage, jealousy, pride, and vengeance drive fey'ri society to commit terrible acts against those they deem to be lesser. Unfortunately, that generally includes every other creature in existence. \column ### The Glory of Hell Born of elves and demons, fey'ri have a dark beauty unrivaled by most other mortals. They generally stand taller than their elven kin, with most being at least 6 feet tall, although some bloodlines have been bred to be smaller. Like tieflings, the mark of the Lower Planes lies upon them. Nearly all fey'ri have horns and tails (though generally smaller and thinner than a tiefling's) as well as unusual skin, hair, or eye colors. However, because their demonic ancestor is usually only a few generations removed at most, they often also manifest minor supernatural effects around them. This can range from milk souring in their presence to causing blood to leak from the eyes of paintings or statues nearby. Some fey'ri with a particularly strong demonic influence even have small wings. Most have the ability to change their form or use illusion to masquerade as elves. ### Pride Goeth Before The Fall The majority of fey'ri are descended from high elves who defied the gods and bred with demons to strengthen their bloodlines, taking them to new heights of power. This first generation were cast out by their elven kin, and they secretly spread to other kingdoms where their numbers grew and began to take control. When their conspiracy was revealed, the elves came together to slaughter most of them and imprison the rest in hidden vaults for more than 5000 years. Only a few escaped, and while they have been working to reestablish themselves, the majority of the fey'ri are still trapped and comatose. ### Fiendish Breeding Most commonly descended from an incubus or succubus, fey'ri are naturally rather charismatic. However, even those raised outside their own brutal society struggle with the combination of elven pride and the demonic contempt for life, which is not helped by the distrust many people have for them. Most elves feel compelled to slay these outsiders on sight, as do fey'ri raised by others of their kind, and other races often see nothing more than their obviously unnatural features. Demons and fey'ri choose those who sire or carry their spawn based on the Prime’s superior ability in a field so as to make the resulting offspring a powerful and worthy servant. As such, fey’ri often have strong natural talents, but also tend to have certain weaknesses enhanced by the selective breeding programs. ### Fey'ri Names Fey'ri view themselves as the ultimate evolution of elves, and therefore continue to use elven names. These names also stand out less when infiltrating elven society. However, Abyssal names are also occasionally used. ### Fey'ri Traits Your fey'ri character has the following racial traits. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

**Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 1. You may increase two other ability scores of your choice by 1, or increase one ability score by 2. **Age.** Descended from elves and immortal beings, Fey'ri have long lifespans of around 1,200 years, living centuries longer than their elven kin when given the opportunity. However, they are forced to mature emotionally much more rapidly than most elves due to their harsh upbringing, and are expected to act as adults by the age of 60 at the latest. It is also very rare for fey'ri to live out the full extent of their lifespan. **Alignment.** Fey'ri society was created by a pact between demons and corrupted elves greedy for power, and as such is entirely evil. Any fey’ri born from the original bloodlines and raised amongst them will almost certainly be chaotic evil. However, some try to embrace goodness, particularly those raised by non-fey'ri (although this is incredibly rare). As both elves and demons tend towards chaotic expressions of alignment, fey'ri are rarely lawful. **Size.** Fey'ri are bred to range from a wispy 5 feet tall to hulking 7 foot tall brutes. Your size is Medium. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write Common, Elvish, and Abyssal. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You cannot discern color in darkness, only shades of grey. **Fey Ancestry.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed. Magic cannot put you to sleep. **Irresistable.** When you use a magical effect to attempt to charm a creature, the DC for any saving throw involved is increased by 1. **Trance.** Like elves, fey'ri don't need to sleep. Instead, they enter a semiconscious trance for 4 hours a day that allows them to perform mental exercises and relive

This trance is the equivalent of 8 hours of sleep for most other races. **Powerful Voice** Choose one of the following skills: Persuasion, Deception, or Intimidation. You are proficient in the chosen skill and can add twice your proficiency to checks with it. **Hidden in Plain Sight.** You know the *freshen up* cantrip, which is described below. Additionally, by concentrating as you would when casting a spell, you can suppress your demonic features through an effort of will. You appear as an elf with identical facial features to your own, but your horns, tail, unnatural colorations, and any supernatural effects vanish. When you are forced to make a concentration check for this feature, you make a Charisma saving throw instead of a Constitution saving throw. Truesight or other magic that reveals the true form of a shapechanger will negate this ability, but it is not detectable by a *detect magic* spell or other similar effect, nor is it an illusion to be dispelled. ## Racial Feats As a fey'ri, you have access to feats available to high elves and tieflings as well as those listed here. ### Specialized Breeding *Prerequisite: Fey'ri, 8th level* ___ You were bred for purpose, and specific traits reveal themselves as your power grows. You may increase one ability score of your choice by 1, or increase an ability score of your choice by 2 at the cost of reducing your Constitution by 1. For example, you may choose +2 Strength and -1 Constitution, or +1 Dexterity with no penalty. You cannot increase an ability score beyond 20. Additionally, your body physically transforms. Choose one of the following benefits: \page

* You grow wings that give you a fly speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you cannot be wearing heavy armor. * Your teeth become razor-sharp. Your bite is a natural weapon you are proficient with which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d8 + your Strength modifier. The target must also make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be charmed by you until the end of its next turn. * Your skin toughens, grows scales, or becomes chitinous. You gain a +1 bonus to AC. ### Succubus Spawn *Prerequisite: Fey'ri* ___ Your abilities particularly mimic those of the succubus or incubus who tainted your bloodline. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * You learn the *vicious mockery* cantrip. I was at the Odemic's Chasm, when our own Arcanium of Tylensis defended the army against the Yedomai Magestum, the two greatest collections of mages in the world pitted against each other. Even that was nothing compared to what I saw when the genasi army swept down on us. Never have I seen such elemental fury, such primal power. You couldn't hear over the roaring of flames and lightning and wind. Men were consumed by the cataclysm, and genasi walked through it like it was nothing. And that was the least of it. The dried corpses of men drained of every drop of liquid after one of them walked by, intent on the book it was reading. Men who died pox-scarred with blood streaming from their eyes after coughing up their own lungs, consumed by disease in minutes. Silent holes in the universe that simply swallowed up whole cadres and left nothing behind. And not a thing any of us mages could do. Oh, I knocked a few out of the sky, but it's not like fighting other mages. They run out of magic just like you. Genasi just.....their magic goes on forever, the Elemental Planes we are so proud of stealing spells from pouring into the Prime through their chosen children. And an army of them? We never stood a chance.* : Of all the planetouched, few are so prolific as the genasi, and none so diverse. Every cell of their being is filled with the primal power of the elements, a power they are happy to wield. ### Heirs to Elemental Power Seen in silhouette, a genasi can usually pass as a standard humanoid, but inherits a very obvious tell of their nature. Those of earth or water descent tend to be heavier than they look, while those of air or fire tend to be lighter. They may have have unusual skin colors, as well as stranger elemental manifestations such as flaming hair, a coating of frost, or gemstone eyes. The elemental blood flowing through their veins manifests differently, but almost all of them have powerful magical abilities. It is extremely rare that any given genasi will have a completely identical manifestation as another, even if they are of the same type or in the rare cases where they are closely related. Some genasi live as outcasts, driven into exile for their unsettling appearances. Others gain positions of influence or assume leadership of weird cults, especially where elemental beings are revered. A few genasi leave the Prime for the households of their elemental parents. In general, however, genasi rarely have contact with their non-Prime parents. Elementals seldom have a great interest in mortal offspring, seeing them as accidents. Many feel nothing for their genasi children at all. ### Wild and Confident Genasi rarely lack confidence, seeing themselves as equal to almost any challenge in their path. This certainty might \column manifest as graceful self-assurance in one genasi and as arrogance in another. Such self-confidence can sometimes blind genasi to risk, and their great plans often get them and others into trouble. To avoid failure that could chip away at even a genasi’s strong sense of self, they constantly push themselves to improve, honing their talents and perfecting their craft. However, they also have tendency to reject things they are not immediately good at. A genasi who finds they have a talent for art will pursue an education in all art forms with an unheard of passion, right up until the point they find out they are a terrible potter. They will then abandon the pursuit almost immediately and retreat to the things they know they will be praised for. ### Farflung Kin Despite being "common" for a planetouched race, genasi might go their entire lives without encountering another one of their kind. Even then, the genasi touched by the multitude of para-elemental and quasi-elemental planes are even rarer than those touched by the base elements of fire, water, earth, or air, and they are unlikely to come across other genasi that are truly like them. Genasi seldom have communities of their own, and across the multiverse there are only a few genasi kingdoms or empires. Instead, individuals typically adopt the cultures and societies into which they are born. The more strange their appearance, the harder time they have. Many genasi lose themselves in teeming cities, where their distinctiveness hardly raises an eyebrow in places accustomed to a variety of different people. Those living on the frontier, though, have a much harder time. People there tend to be less accepting of differences. Sometimes a cold shoulder and a suspicious glare are the best genasi can hope for; in more backward places, they face ostracism and even violence from people who mistake them for fiends. It is not uncommon for these genasi to seek isolation in the wilds, making their homes in mountains or forests, near lakes, or underground. They often feel they are more at peace than others of their kind, being closer to the heart of their nature by enduring the hardships of the wilds. Ironically, those who wander in search of these isolated homes are more likely to encounter others of their kind. ### Genasi Names Genasi use the naming conventions of the people among whom they were raised. They might later assume distinctive names to capture their heritage, such as Flame, Ember, Wave, or Onyx. ### Genasi Traits Your genasi character has the following traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1. **Age.** Genasi mature at about the same rate as humans and reach adulthood in their late teens. towards neutral or chaotic alignments. **Size.** Genasi are as varied as their Prime parents but are generally built like humans, standing anywhere from 4.5 feet to over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and the dialect(s) of Primordial related to your elemental manifestation. Primordial is a guttural language, filled with harsh syllables and hard consonants. **Subrace.** Four major types of genasi are found among the worlds of the multiverse: air, earth, fire, and water genasi. Additionally, there are genasi who are touched by the para-elemental and quasi-elemental planes, corrupted elements, and several elemental planes from alternate cosmologies. Choose one of these subraces. #### Base Elements These genasi manifest one of the four primary elements and are the most common types. ##### Air Genasi Most air genasi are descended from the djinn. As changeable as the weather, your moods shift from calm to wild and back again with little warning. You are intimately aware of the world around you, and you revel in this, traveling far and wide to experience as much as you can. Air genasi typically have pale skin, hair, and eyes. A faint but constant breeze accompanies them, tousling the hair and stirring the clothing. Some air genasi speak with breathy voices, marked by a faint echo. A few display odd patterns or crystals in their flesh. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity and Wisdom scores increase by 1. **Unending Breath.** You can hold your breath indefinitely while you are not incapacitated. If you take damage while holding your breath, you must pass a Constitution saving throw (DC 10 or half the damage you take, whichever is higher) to continue doing so. **Windflow.** You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours. **Light as a Feather** When you are not incapacitated, you cannot fall at a rate greater than 60 feet per round, take no damage when you land, and always land on your feet. You can extend this effect to two Small or Medium creatures or one Large creature you are touching. When falling alone and not wearing heavy armor, you can move up to 3 feet horizontally for every foot you descend. **Becalming Presence.** You do not suffer disadvantage on hearing-based perception checks and ranged attack rolls due to strong winds (magical or mundane), as described on page 110 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide. **Mingle With Wind.** You can cast the *dust devil ^(XGtE)* and *gust of wind* spells once each with this trait, requiring no material components and regaining the ability to cast them this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level or higher. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. \column ##### Earth Genasi As an earth genasi, you are likely descended from the dao genies. You have inherited some measure of control overearth, as well as a steady nature backed by solid confidence. You tend to avoid rash decisions, pausing to consider all your options before taking action. Elemental earth manifests differently from one individual to the next. Some earth genasi always have bits of dust falling from their bodies and mud clinging to their clothes, never getting clean no matter how often they bathe. Others are studded with gemstones, with skin tones of deep brown or black, eyes sparkling like agates. Earth genasi can also have smooth metallic flesh, dull iron skin spotted with rust, or a rough, pebbled hide. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution and Dexterity scores increase by 1. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. **Stone's Constitution.** You have advantage on saving throws against being petrified. **Earthworker.** You know the *mold earth ^(XGtE)* cantrip. **Natural Armor.** Your skin has a coating of stone or hardened earth. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your

natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal if you use your natural armor. **Shadow of the Cavern.** The quiet darkness of the underground radiates from you, and you leave no tracks in the dirt you walk on. While you are not incapacitated, you and creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you gain a bonus to Stealth checks equal to one-fourth your level (rounded up). **Tunneler.** You have a burrowing speed of 20 feet, which you can use to move through dirt, mud, and sand. Burrowing through solid stone halves this speed. At the GM's discretion, you may choose to leave a hole large enough for Medium or smaller creatures to follow unhindered by reducing your burrowing speed by half. ##### Fire Genasi As a fire genasi, you have inherited the volatile mood and keen mind of an efreet or some other native of the Elemental Plane of Fire. You tend toward impatience and making snap judgments. Rather than hide your distinctive appearance, you exult in it. Nearly all fire genasi are feverishly hot as if burning inside, an impression reinforced by flaming red, coal black, or ash-gray skin tones. The more human-looking have fiery red hair that writhes under extreme emotion, while exotic specimens sport actual flames dancing on their heads. Fire genasi voices might sound like crackling flames, and their eyes flare when angered. Some are accompanied by the faint scent of brimstone. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution and Intelligence scores increase by 1. \column **Fiery Nature.** You have resistance to fire damage. You can also ignite flammable object that aren't being worn or carried with your touch as an object interaction. **Hearthflame.** While you are not incapacitated, creatures of your choosing within 10 feet of you (including yourself) have advantage on saving throws against effects caused by extreme cold, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. **Infusion of Warmth.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use an action to give creatures of your choosing within 10 feet of you a number temporary hit points equal to 3 x your Constitution modifier. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before doing so again. **Reach the Blaze.** You know the *produce flame* and *control flames ^(XGtE)* cantrips. You can cast the *flaming sphere* spell once with this trait, requiring no material components and regaining the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of 2nd level or higher. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. ##### Water Genasi The lapping of waves, the spray of sea foam on the wind, the ocean depths — all of these things call to your heart as the descendant of a water elemental such as a marid. You wander freely and take pride in your independence, though others might consider you selfish. Most water genasi look as if they just finished bathing, with moisture collecting on their skin and hair. They smell of fresh rain and clean water. Blue or green skin is common, and most have overlarge eyes, blue-black in color. A water genasi’s hair might float freely, swaying and waving as if underwater, and their voices have undertones reminiscent of whale song or trickling streams. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution and Wisdom scores increase by 1. **Aquavision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Your range of vision is doubled underwater compared to those without aquavision, as determined by the table on page 117 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Amphibious.** You have a swimming speed of 30 feet, and you can breathe both air and water. **Shared Breath.** You can extend your ability to breathe both air and water to creatures of your choosing within 10 feet of you. If a creature leaves the area or you are incapacitated, the effect ends and they must hold their breath as normal at the start of their next turn. **Call the Wave.** You know the *shape water* cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the *create or destroy water* spell once with this trait. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the *moonbeam* and *wall of water ^(XGtE)* spells once each with this trait. When you reach 7th level, you can cast the *watery sphere ^(XGtE)* spell once with this trait. When you cast a spell using this trait, it requires no material components. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. #### Para-elements These genasi have been touched by the energy of the para-elemental planes, where one base element blends with another. Additionally, this group includes storm genasi, who are touched by the chaos where all elements blend. ##### Ice Genasi As a child of the Plane of Ice, you are coldly rational, analyzing every situation to find the perfect outcome. You may not have a full understanding of the emotions of other people, which can make you seem cruel, and many ice genasi are detached and distant to spare themselves the pain of rejections stemming from this misunderstanding. Despite this, you still have a core of strong emotion. You are more likely than other genasi to have a lawful alignment, disliking change or chaos. Ice genasi have sharp, delicate features even when their Prime parents do not. They may have a blue tint to their skin or be unusually pale, with hair and eyes in matching colors. Frost sometimes forms on things they touch, and many breathe frosty plumes even in warm weather. Even slight amounts of heat are uncomfortable to them, and they rarely wear heavy clothes. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1 and your Intelligence score increases by 2. **Analysis.** You are proficient in the Investigation skill. **Glacial Resistance.** You have resistance to cold damage. However, you are poorly suited to hotter climes, and the DC for Constitution saving throws against exhaustion in extreme heat increases by 2 every hour instead of by 1. **Ice Floe.** You can move across difficult terrain created by ice or snow without expending extra movement. Additionally, you can freeze a thin layer of ice under your feet as you walk, allowing you to move across water as if it were a solid surface. This requires you to maintain concentration as if concentrating on a spell. The ice melts as soon as your foot leaves its surface, and can support no more than your own weight plus additional weight up to five times your Strength score. **Cold Snap.** Starting at 3rd level, as a reaction when a creature hits you with a weapon attack, you can cause the temperature around you to drop drastically just before the attack connects, forming a thin layer of ice. You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your level + your Constitution modifier. If the triggering attack consumes these temporary hit points, the ice shatters, doing 1d6 cold damage and 1d6 magical slashing damage to the attacking creature if it is within 5 feet. The cold damage increases to 2d6 at 6th level, 3d6 at 11th level, and 4d6 at 16th level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. **Arctic Magic.** You know the *ray of frost* and *frostbite ^(XGtE)* cantrips. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. \column ##### Magma Genasi Magma is the union of earth and flame, the most stable element combined with the most chaotic. You have a serene countenance that masks a wild heart, surviving your mad plans through the simple fact that you were too tough for them to kill you. You are quick to laugh and are beloved for the joy you bring to those around you, but you are an equally terrible and implacable foe to those who upset you. Magma genasi are generally rather stocky and not particularly tall. Their rough, rocky skin is uncomfortably hot to the touch, and when they bleed, it appears more orange than red and will scald those who touch it. Even those born to wealth wear relatively poor quality clothes, since their wearers don't expect the fabrics to long survive whatever antics they might get into. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1. **Natural Armor.** Your skin has a coating of igenous rock such as pumice, scoria, obsidian, or basalt. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a

lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal if you use your natural armor. **Earth's Blood.** You have resistance to fire damage. Additionally, you can treat lava and magma as if it were water for ten minutes per long rest, taking no damage while moving through it. Your resilience extends to items you are wearing or carrying. You have a swim speed of 30 feet when moving through lava or magma. **Pyroclastic Blast.** As an action, you can shatter your rocky carapace and release a cloud of blisteringly hot magma, ash, and stone around you. You temporarily lose your *natural armor* trait. Every creature within ten feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 fire damage + 1d6 bludgeoning damage. Regardless of the result, if a creature in the area is of size Large or smaller, it is knocked prone. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again or gain the benefits of your *natural armor* racial trait.

\column ##### Ooze Genasi After a lifetime of people being repulsed by their appearance, many ooze genasi are quite jaded towards other people. You prefer your own company or that of other outcasts, and are often unwilling to help others without seeing some benefit to yourself. On the other hand, you are susceptible to blind loyalty towards those who treat you kindly, ignoring some of the flaws you would normally be quick to spot. Ooze genasi can range from those who look nearly human beyond a sickly tint to their eyes or skin to amorphous yet humanoid shapes that look like melted wax. Rarely are they accounted beautiful by the standards of most other races. Their skin is often coated with a slime that ruins any clothes they wear, and many who flee to isolated homes in the wild go without to save themselves the pointless exertion of trying to clean them. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1 and your Wisdom score increases by 1. **Outcast's Instinct.** You are quick to determine the true thoughts and intentions of the people around you. You have proficiency in the Insight skill. **Swamp Thing.** You have advantage on saving throws against the poisoned condition, as well as resistance to poison and acid damage. **Abnormal Anatomy.** Your internal organs are in different positions than most people would expect them to be. As such, when an enemy rolls a critical hit with an attack roll or makes a sneak attack against you, they must confirm the additional damage by rolling a d4. On a roll of 1, any additional damage from the sneak attack or critical hit is negated. **Cutaneous Respiration.** You can breathe both air and water, and you do so by taking in oxygen through your skin. As such, you can breathe effectively as long as some portion of your skin is still exposed to viable air or water. However, you have disadvantage on saving throws against spells and effects that are based on breathing (such as *stinking cloud* or inhaled poisons). **Slime Wave.** Starting at 3rd level, as an action you can cause the slippery ooze that coats you to erupt outward. The area in a 15-foot radius around you becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute. Excluding yourself, each creature standing in the area when it is activated, enter the area, or end their turn in the area must succeed a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or fall prone. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before doing so again. ##### Smoke Genasi As the manifestation of a para-elemental plane born from the finality of flame carried on the roiling rise of air, you have little in the way of motivation, simply drifting where the universe may take you. While you are not hedonistic, many likely consider you lazy. Despite this, you always seem to rise through the ranks of wherever you end up (be it through luck or skill), high enough that others envy you but not so high that you might miss out on your nap. \page {{pageNumber,auto}} Unsurprisingly, most smoke genasi have a lingering scent of their namesake around them, with the scent growing stronger on the rare occasions they grow irritated or excited. Quite often their hair billows in a cloud-like fashion, becoming wispy and immaterial near the ends. All their features generally have a dark cast to them, though their eyes may occasionally flare with fiery light. They tend to wear clothes in similar colors, and these clothes are always well-made, practical, and comfortable. There is no point in fancy clothes if you can't breathe or stretch in them. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity and Charisma scores increase by 1. **Lazy Man's Luck.** When you fail an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check by 1, you instead succeed. **Black Lung.** You can breathe normally inside any area covered in nonmagical poisonous gas, smoke, or other gaseous substance. If the substance is magical, you have advantage on saving throws against its effects. Additionally, you may use an action to inhale such substances, clearing a 10-foot radius centered on you. **Hazy Outline.** You can hide when only lightly obscured by cloudy substances like fog, smoke, and mist. Your vision is less impaired in areas that are similarly obscured, treating heavy obscurement as light obscurement and ignoring light obscurement. **Miasma.** Starting at 3rd level, you can choose a point within 60 feet. Black smoke spreads out from the target in a 10-foot radius, moving around corners. The area is heavily obscured. The smoke persists for 1 minute or until a strong wind disperses it. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Dissipate.** As a reaction when you would take nonmagical damage or fire damage, you can momentarily turn into smoke. You gain resistance to the triggering damage and all other nonmagical or fire damage until the start of your next turn, and you have advantage on Dexterity and Constitution saving throws. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. ##### Storm Genasi Storm genasi are a rare variant, not a distinct element but rather a tempestuous whirl of traits that encompasses all base elements. You are in turns nurturing and destructive, obstinate and mercurial. You are not quick to anger, but when you do reach your breaking point your fury cannot be stopped until it has run its course, sustained by the deep well of emotion and magic within you. Touching a storm genasi almost guarantees a static shock, and many have miniscule threads of lightning that crawl over skin tinged grey or purple. Their voices often rumble and boom, and a sharp smell of ozone hangs about them when their tempers rise. They tend to dislike vocations that require them to stay inside, preferring hands on tasks under an open sky. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1 and your Charisma score increases by 2. \column

**Stormborn.** You have resistance to lightning and thunder damage. Additionally, you do not suffer disadvantage on hearing-based perception checks due to strong winds or disadvantage on sight-based checks due to heavy precipitation, as described on page 110 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide. **Tempest's Wrath.** You know the *booming blade ^(TCoE)* cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the *absorb elements* and *sanctuary* spells once each with this trait. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the *warding wind ^(XGtE)* and *call lightning* spells once each with this trait. When you cast a spell using this trait, it requires no material components. You regain the ability to cast a spell this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast these spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level or higher. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. #### Positive Quasi-elements These genasi have been touched by the energy of the positive quasi-elemental planes, where a base element blends with the Plane of Positive Energy. \column ##### Lightning Genasi The Plane of Lightning is a deadly plane formed from a skeleton of electricity around pockets of heavily charged air and boiling black storm clouds. As one touched by it, you are constantly on edge, filled with vibrant energy and delighted to spring into any situation at a moment's notice. Your enthusiasm can be overwhelming both in battle and in conversation, and with your boundless energy, you can't really understand why people sometimes need a break. Lightning genasi have pale skin that can be tinged blue, yellow, or red, with those colors becoming particularly vibrant along the "edges" of their body, such as their jawlines, extremities, and joints. Veins of pulsing light sometimes run through their body, and their eyes often spark, particularly when they get excited (although few can tell the difference between calm and excited). They tend to wear light clothes that won't restrict their movement, and they love metal jewelry that can catch and shape the sparks they create. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Constitution increases by 1. **Quicksilver.** You have resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, your base movement speed is 40 feet. **Conductive.** You can channel your internal lightning through your hands, making every punch a devastating blow. When you make an unarmed strike, you can choose to have it deal lightning damage, in which case it deals damage equal to 1d6 + your Dexterity modifier, instead of the amount of bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. **Lightning Core.** You have boundless energy that sustains you when others lag behind. You are not immune to spells and effects that put you to sleep, but natural sleep is a largely foreign concept to you. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you only need to spend 4 hours doing light activity. ##### Mineral Genasi The Plane of Minerals holds all the riches of the earth within it, and you are a similar treasure to those around you. Solid, dependable, and giving of yourself, you enrich the lives of those around you. However, you may be susceptible to the weaknesses of avarice and may covet the material treasures of others. Mineral genasi, like most other genasi with some elemental earth energy, often have skin formed from earthen materials. Unlike others, they rarely have dull or rocky colorations, instead being coated in precious metals, jewels, or at the very least stone like fine marble. Gemstone eyes are also not uncommon. As such, they can rarely pass for human, but often their birth is interpreted as a sign of some divine favor, even going so far as to be mistaken for aasimar. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom scores increase by 1. **Gemcutter's Eye.** You have proficiency in jeweler's tools and your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make to use them. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

**Enrich.** Starting at 3rd level, as an action, you can temporarily bolster the mind and body of a creature you touch by infusing them with minerals. The affected creature has advantage on saving throws for an ability score of your choice for 1 hour and gains temporary hit points equal to your level. This is not a magical effect and cannot be dispelled. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. **Natural Armor.** Your skin is shot through with metal or gemstone. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 12 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor. **Razor's Edge.** As a bonus action, you can reshape one or both of your hands into a razor-sharp crystalline blade that you can use as a natural melee weapon. The blades do 1d8 slashing damage and have the *finesse* and *light* properties, but while a hand is transformed it cannot precisely manipulate anything, perform the somatic component of spells, or wield other weapons, magic items, or other specialized equipment. Changing your hands back requires a bonus action. **Transmute.** You can spend 1 minute to convert 1 cubic inch of metal, stone, or gemstone that you are touching into a different earthen material of equivalent value. **Personal Trove.** During a long rest, you can shed some of the precious materials that form on your body. As a radiance genasi, you are confident in your beauty and power. From birth you have probably been viewed with awe and showered with the best things in life, including a top-notch education at a temple or academy. This may have left you with a number of flaws such as vanity or a tendency to be be overconfident or self-centered. This is tempered by the fact that you likely ended up in the care of goodly people who tried to instill kindness and generosity within you as well. While some have skin in tones natural for the race of their Prime relatives, radiance genasi can be born with brilliantly colored skin in any shade you could think of. Some even have opalescent skin or slowly change colors over the course of few days. Tiny motes of light often float around them like stars, and glowing irises and hair are quite common. Most have access to rich fabrics, and jewels are of particular fascination to them for their refractive properties. \column

**Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution and Charisma scores increase by 1. **Brilliant Resistance.** You have resistance to radiant damage. **Brightflame** Light and heat are simply two sides of the same shining coin. Whenever you would deal fire damage to a creature, you can convert half that damage to radiant damage instead. You determine the amount of radiant damage after rolling for fire damage but before applying resistances to damage. **Overload.** When you complete a long rest, you can choose one creature other than yourself and infuse them with positive energy. Roll a number of d4s equal to your Constitution modifier. The affected creature has their hit point maximum increased by the resulting amount until they complete a long rest. **Inner Radiance.** You can cause your body to shed bright light in a 10-foot radius around you and dim light for 10 feet beyond that, requiring no action to initiate or end this effect. Magical darkness created by a spell of 2nd level or lower does not affect this light. Additionally, as a bonus action you can create up to five fist-sized orbs of light that float within 120 feet of you. Each one sheds dim light in a color of your choosing in a 10-foot radius around them. You can use your bonus action on subsequent turns to move the orbs up to 60 feet, but they cannot move more than 120 feet away from you. You can extinguish them at will, requiring no action. \column ##### Mist Genasi Mist is a veil, a keeper of mystery, and as such you delight in collecting the secrets of others. You aren't necessarily a gossip, but everyone knows that you *know*, and you aren't averse to making a bit of coin from your knowledge. On the other hand, you are incredibly private, and despise when others delve into your own secrets. Mist can be warm and comforting as a sauna or bitterly cold enough to sap the life from your body, as those who plan to cross you would do well to remember. Mist genasi are the pale reflections of smoke genasi, looking as if much of the color has leeched out of them. Most of their hair goes grey in their teens, becoming immaterial near the ends and stirring in every breath of air. Their grey eyes have an odd silver sheen that just can't quite be mistaken for natural, and wisps of mist sometimes spill out of their mouth when they speak. Many wear brightly colored clothing, get extreme hair cuts, or have numerous piercings to make themselves more distinct, but they all have less conspicuous outfits for when they want to sneak around. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity and Intelligence scores increase by 1. **Collector of Secrets.** You may choose proficiency in two of the following skills: Insight, Investigation, Perception, or Stealth. **Boil or Freeze.** When you complete a long rest, you can choose resistance to either fire or cold damage. **Hazy Outline.** You can hide when only lightly obscured by cloudy substances like fog, smoke, and mist. Your vision is less impaired in areas that are similarly obscured, treating heavy obscurement as light obscurement and ignoring light obscurement. **Fog Bank.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to create a 30-foot-radius sphere of fog centered on a point within 60 feet of you. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. It lasts for the 1 hour or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Conductive Vapor.** As a reaction when you take lightning damage, you can release a blast of steam to disperse the energy. You gain resistance to the triggering damage. Additionally, all creatures within 5 feet of you take lightning damage equal to a quarter of the dice rolled to determine the triggering damage, rounded down (minimum one die). For example, if you are hit with 10d8 lightning damage, creatures within 5 feet of you take 2d8 lightning damage. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. #### Negative Quasi-elements These genasi have been touched by the energy of the negative quasi-elemental planes, where a base element blends with the Plane of Negative Energy. ##### Ash Genasi At some point in life, every creature stops growing and starts dying. You don't know of a time when your gradual and impending death was not something you were intimately aware of. Every day you have a little less energy to sustain you. And yet there is some memory just beyond your grasp of what it feels like to have life burning in your veins, and you desperately want it back, a hunger you can rarely satisfy. You have a fierce determination to feel anything and everything, leaving you susceptible to dangerous vices and risks. And yet you generally can't spare the energy to do these things....unless you take that energy from someone else. Ash genasi grow only for the first decade or so of life, after which their elemental nature begins to consume them. They are small, sickly, and have a gray pallor to their flaking skin. They don't have the energy to care about their appearance, and their dirty skin, hair, and clothes combined with an unnerving aura means that few people like spending time around them. Between their own poor health and the lack of support from others, few ash genasi reach much more than middle age, even if they look ancient. They are about as close to being undead as a being can get while still being alive. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma increases by 2, your Dexterity increases by 1, and your Constitution is reduced by 1. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 25 feet. **Ashfall.** You have proficiency in the Stealth skill. \column

**Failed Flame.** You have resistance to cold damage and fire damage. **Heat Leech.** Like the ash elementals you are descended from, you can steal body heat from others to feed your own fading energy. As an action, you can force all creatures within 10 feet of you to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency modifier + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, the creature takes 2d6 cold damage. Regardless of whether a successful save is made, you regain 1d6 hit points for each creature within range. Creatures who have unnaturally low body temperatures (such as white dragons, ice mephits, undead, or others at the GM's discretion, but not cold-blooded creatures like reptiles) are not affected by this feature, nor do you gain health from their presence. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Chilling Presence.** You can also use your heat-draining abilities to a less extreme degree to cool those around you. While you are not incapacitated, creatures of your choosing within 10 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against effects caused by extreme heat, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. **Dying Gasp.** You fear death more than anything else, and it has to fight to keep its hold on you. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. ##### Dust Genasi Many genasi are driven by strong emotions that are imperfect expressions of the elemental force that touched them. As a dust genasi, you are the same, but the emotion that drives you before all others is hate. You hate anything that others have, and not because you want it, but just because it *is.* You are vengeful, but you take no joy in your vengeance, you simply cannot abide a slight against you. All things must end, and if you have your way you will be the one to end them. Dust genasi are tall and gaunt, with nondescript faces beyond eyes that are either solid black or white. Regardless, their eyes are generally dead orbs in dark, hollow sockets. Their tanned skin is papery and dry, and their lips are cracked no matter how much water they might consume. Dust falls from their hair or rises in clouds under their every step. Most live in deserts and wear clothes suited to the heat there. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2. **Dune Walker.** You do not need to drink water and cannot gain levels of exhaustion due to being dehydrated. You also have advantage on saving throws against extreme heat and you are not affected by quicksand, as described in chapter 5 the Dungeon Master's Guide. **Sandswim.** When there is sand, ash, or other loose earthen material at least 3 feet deep, you can choose to swim through it like water with a movement speed of 20 feet. While doing so you have tremorsense out to 15 feet. This sense does not extend beyond the surface of the material you are moving through, though you are aware of the presence of creatures and objects that are standing on the surface. **Dust to Dust.** You release a blast of scouring sand that works to destroy everything it touches. As an action, you can force a creature you can see within 30 feet to make a Dexterity throw (DC 8 + your proficiency modifier + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, the target takes 2d6 slashing damage and has its AC reduced by 1. This penalty is removed on a long rest. You can use this feature three times, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Hateful Blows.** When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon's damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit. ##### Salt Genasi You do not understand most of the actions others take, nor do you particularly enjoy their presence. Your greatest desire is to be left alone, in a world that is not changed by the random whims of every passing being. Despite this, you have a fascination with novelties, and often build collections of mundane items that have piqued your interest. Salt genasi have pale white or brown skin, often with a similarly colored powder or light crusting of crystals on their skin. Even when they are found within the societies of others, they tend to be loners and care little for the \column

application of fashion or beauty standards. While they may not look it, salt genasi can live twice if not three times as long as most humans or genasi. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 2. **Archivists.** The static nature of books appeals to most salt genasi. This, combined with their often inherited collections of preserved objects, means that they generally have an expansive knowledge of the past. You have proficiency in the History skill. **Toughness** Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 every time you gain a level. **Hygroscopy.** Despite how dry you might seem (both physically and in your personality), you require vast quantities of water to slake your thirst. You always require twice as much water as most people (as describd on page 185 of the Player's Handbook), though you can drink saltwater without harm. For you, the Constitution saving throw to avoid a level of exhaustion due to dehydration has a DC of 20. However, whenever you take a short rest and roll Hit Dice to restore hit points, if you are able to submerge at least half your body in water you can roll a number of d6s equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1). The result is added to the total hit points you regain. **Dehydrate.** You can satisfy your own need for water by stealing the moisture from another creature. As an action, you can touch another creature and force it to make a \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency modifier + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, the creature has disadvantage on all attack rolls and saving throws for an hour or until it can drink sufficient water to rehydrate itself. If you have any levels of exhaustion, they are removed. If you do not, you can roll a number of d6s equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1). You regain a number of hit points equal to the total. Constructs and other creatures without liquid within their bodies are immune to this feature, while plants automatically fail the saving throw. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Salt in the Wound.** As a reaction when you make a successful weapon attack, you can cause the wound to become exceptionally painful. The target takes necrotic damage equal to half your level (rounded up) at the start of its turn for 1d6 rounds. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again.

\column ##### Vacuum Genasi You desire nothing. Truly, literally, nothing. Things have no meaning and power is something for others to hold. This sets you apart from most other beings in an irreconcilable way, but that doesn't matter either. Even your movement is odd, because how does nothing move? Vacuum genasi generally have purple-black skin with shimmering metallic markings scattered across it. Their eyes and hair are equally dark. However, from time to time, a ripple of immaterialness will roll through their flesh, making them appear wispy or even disappear from sight completely. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Wisdom increases by 1. **Needless.** You do not need to breathe, eat or drink, though you can if you wish to. **Embrace Emptiness** You have proficiency in Stealth. Additionally, as a bonus action, you can magically turn invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a damage roll, or force someone to make a saving throw. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. **Suffocate.** As a bonus action, you create a field of vacuum around yourself with a 10-foot radius for 1 minute. The field is not detectable by mundane senses before it is entered, nor does it register as magical to divination magic. Any poisonous gases, smoke, fog or other gaseous substances are cleared within the area for the duration and take one round after the effect ends to reenter the space. A creature within the field begins suffocating and has disadvantage on any attack rolls, ability checks, or saving throws using Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence due to the lack of oxygen. Creatures that do not breathe are immune to the effect, and a creature that is holding its breath when it enters the field ignores the effects, making a Constitution saving throw any time it takes damage (DC 10 or half the damage taken, whichever is higher) to continue holding its breath. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. #### Corrupted Elements Sometimes the energies of the Abyss blend with and warp those of the Inner Planes. While genasi of opposing elements may clash with each other, they generally recognize each other as kin. However, all of them feel a repulsion towards the fundamental wrongness of abyssal genasi, and it is rare to see them within the societies of other genasi. This rejection by their own people makes it hard for corrupted genasi to resist the call of evil. ##### Caustic Genasi You are both literally and figuratively rather bitter. Those who spend any time around you should expect to be on the receiving end of your biting criticisms and sharp tongue as you try to express your constant frustration with your lot in life. While you may not make many friends this way, you don't need them. You have been on your own \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

your whole life, and you are a survivor above all else. Still, you are not immune to loneliness... Caustic genasi look much like the water genasi they are a corruption of, though generally more green than blue. Unfortunately, their damp skin is coated in acid, which over time eats through their clothes and any items they use regularly. This means that, whether they like it or not, they rarely have much in the way of fine clothing or treasured mementos. In fact, most are rather poor, since they regularly have to replace the objects they use. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity and Constitution scores increase by 1. **Amphibious.** You have a swimming speed of 30 feet, and you can breathe both air and water. **Corrosive Flesh.** You are resistant to acid damage. Additionally, when you successfully grapple a creature or are grappled by one, you do 1d6 acid damage to the creature. The creature takes this damage again at the start of its turn as long as the grapple is maintained. **Devouring Tide.** You know the *shape water* cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the *fog cloud* spell once with this trait. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the *acid arrow* spell once with this trait. When you reach 7th level you can cast the *tidal wave ^(XGtE)* spell once with this trait. When you cast a spell using this trait, it requires no material components. You regain the ability to cast a spell this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast these spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level or higher. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. **Acidify.** When you cast a water-based spell, you can corrupt the spell and cause any water created or affected by it to instead become acid. Each creature within the \column area of the corupted spell must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 1d6 acid damage plus an additional 1d6 acid damage for every level of the spell slot used, or half as much damage on a successful save. For spells with a duration greater than instantaneous, the first time a creature enters the area of the spell on a turn or when it ends its turn there, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw or take 1d4 acid damage for every level of the spell slot used, taking half as much damage on a successful save. All acid damage is in addition to any effects the spell normally creates. When the spell's effect ends, the water returns to its non-acidic state. Corrupting a spell reduces your hit points by an amount equal to 3 x the level of the spell slot used and reduces your hit point maximum by 1 for each level of the spell. Corrupting a cantrip reduces your hit points by 1, with no reduction of your hit point maximum. Your hit point maximum is restored upon the completion of a long rest or through the use of magic such as *greater restoration*. ##### Ember Genasi While your elemental nature embodies the end of flame, you are not so far gone as the ash genasi and you do not fear death's touch. Rather, you revel in your flirtations with it and toe the line between life and death with glee. Your fascination borders on fanaticism, creating rather polarized opinions of you. You are just as likely to be a great leader to a cult of loyal followers as you are to end up a mad hermit mumbling to the unseen. Many take your presence to be an ill omen. Ember genasi have dark skin shot through with lines of pale grey and glowing orange heat. Their eyes flicker

between a deep darkness and a mad flame. Their hair is often of a rough consistency, crumbling under the touch of a hand and leaving black marks where it rubs against a surface. Clothes and the other trappings of vanity are rarely of great importance to an ember genasi, but they are just as susceptible to greed as any other. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2. **Fire Resistance.** You have resistance to fire. **Spelldoom.** Magic is nothing but energy, and your very nature is that of energy fading to nothing. As a reaction when you would take damage from a spell or magical effect, all damage dice rolled for the triggering attack are considered to have a result of 1, causing the minimum damage for the spell. You must decide to use this ability before you know how much damage the triggering effect would cause. You can use this feature once per long rest at no cost. Every use after the first incurs a level of exhaustion. **Rekindled Martyr.** When you drop to 0 hit points and stabilize yourself with successful death saving throws, you regain 1 hit point per level and have advantage on attack rolls for the next minute. **Smoldering Arcana.** You know the *control flames* and *create bonfire* cantrips. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. ##### Plague Genasi While all genasi have the magic and potential to cause harm to others, the corruption within you is specifically designed to do so. Some plague genasi revel in this, but most don't enjoy watching everyone they know sicken and die. You likely have fled to some isolated region, becoming largely self-sufficient and rarely making contact with civilization. As such, you struggle with social conventions when you leave your self-imposed exile. Still, you thrive in the presence of others, even if those others suffer for it. Plague genasi are surprisingly robust, generally being both tall and broad. They look largely human, although unnaturally colored eyes are common, as is a body temperature that would be considered feverish. Plague genasi who live alone generally don't care much for fancy clothes, but those who try and live among other people keep up with the latest fashions so they can fit in better. Either way, they rarely choose flashy outfits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1. **Asymptomatic.** You are immune to disease and have advantage on saves against the poisoned condition. Additionally, you have proficiency in the Medicine skill. **Infectious.** As a bonus action, you can force a creature within 10 feet of you to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). If the creature fails, you cause it to suddenly manifest the severe symptoms of a disease for a few seconds, distracting and weakening it. Until the start of your next turn, the creature is stunned. But despite this compulsion, everything that is not of the Void causes you pain. The food you eat, the clothes you wear, the touch of another person, even the air on your skin burns your essence. No creature can live its life in such constant pain without it changing them, though how that manifests differs between each genasi. Some retreat from the world, while some become incredibly empathetic to the suffering of others. Most, however, are warped by their pain and try to make others suffer as they have. Void genasi have pale skin and hair, but their eyes are jet black windows to the Void within. Black blood often leaks from their eyes, mouth, and ears. most others, making life among other people difficult. Clothes are simply another painful burden upon them, so most couldn't care less what they're wearing, particularly knowing that people are unlikely to accept them regardless. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 1 and your Charisma score increases by 2. **Void Mind.** Your mind is touched by the eternal finality of the empty void. You have resistance to psychic damage. Additionally, when a creature attempts to read your thoughts or influence your mind (such as with a charm or fear effect) against your wishes, as a reaction you can deal 2d6 psychic damage to the creature. This damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. **Nonexistance.** As an action, you can force a creature within 10 feet of you to make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency modifier + your Constitution modifier). A willing creature can choose to fail this save. On failure, the creature temporarily ceases to exist. Until the start of your next turn, the creature is incapacitated and cannot be targeted or damaged by any effect. \column **Suffering.** Pain has been a constant in your life since the moment you took your first breath. It takes a lot to phase you, even in combat. You have advantage on Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage. #### Alternate Elements Some cosmologies have additional basic elements, and the simple fact of this belief in them means that they do exist, though perhaps not in so great a form as other elemental planes. These genasi are just as common as base element genasi on worlds that acknowledge them. ##### Blood Genasi Blood is representative of both the thrumming force of life and the violent ending of it. As a blood genasi, you can be a healing presence, dedicated to being a constant and vital (if often unnoticed) source of support for your friends. Alternatively, you can revel in all the hedonistic pleasures life has to offer, taking delight in violence, drinking, drugs, and anything that makes your heart pound. This dichotomy can cause others to be wary of you until they are sure of which category you fall into. Blood genasi look the most human of any genasi, but deep red hair and ruddy coloring are an almost universal trait. Red eyes are not uncommon. Some unlucky ones weep or sweat blood, a disturbing effect resulting in many of those being killed for being either demonspawn, plagued, or cursed. The more self-indulgent blood genasi delight in fine clothes, though using their natural abilities tends to ruin any clothing being worn. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution and Charisma scores increase by 1. **Sanguine Humors.** Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 every time you gain a level. **Sacrifice.** You can expend your own overflowing vitality to help impose your will on reality. As an action, you can sacrifice a number of hit points equal to your level and gain one of the following effects for 1 minute: * You gain a pool of healing energy for the duration, with a total number of hit points equal to 3 x your level. As a bonus action, you can target a creature other than yourself within 10 feet of you and restore a number of hit points to it, up to the maximum amount remaining in your pool. Any unused points at the end of the minute are lost. * Once when you make a successful weapon attack, you can treat it as a critical hit. * Once when you make a spell attack or force a creature to make a saving throw against a magical effect within the next minute, you can choose to increase the spell save DC or your spell attack bonus by 1. ##### Wood Genasi "Wood" is a simplified term for the green force that drives the growth of plants and the world as a whole. All creatures grow throughout their lives, but you in particular are focused on growing and changing. To be the same person you were a year before would be a failing on your part. You have a deceptive inner strength, knowing that in time obstacles will crumble. You love being at the heart of a thriving community, and one you become a part of one you are unlikely to go far from it willingly. Wood genasi are often mistaken for dryads or other forest spirits, which isn't far off considering one such being likely sired them. They have green or brown skin, often with a bark-like texture or a tracery of pale veins. Their hair is thicker than most humans, like thin tendrils of new plant growth or even small leafy fronds like those of a fern. They range in size from short and squat to tall and wispy. Most wear durable work clothes with no frills, and wear shoes only when manners demand it. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 2. **Speed.** Your base movement speed decreases to 25 feet. **Chlorophyl.** You do not need to eat if you are exposed to direct sunlight for at least 1 hour each day. **Hardwood.** Your flesh is made of a tough, woody substance. You gain a +l bonus to Armor Class. Taking fire damage negates this bonus until you complete a short rest. **Leafspeech.** You have the ability to speak with plants. They can understand the meaning of your words and you \column

Additionally, if you are also within 5 feet of an ally, you can both add a bonus of 1 to any saving throws. **Green Power.** You know the *druidcraft* and *shillelagh* cantrips. ## Jaezreddin ___ ## *Ixdad was used to fighting in magical darkness. From his days as a toddler training with the house weapon master, he had been taught how to keep calm when his darkvision failed, to listen for the slightest noise, to work his way to the edge of the sphere of darkness. But this was different. This darkness bit at his flesh with an unearthly cold, and a fear that was just as unnatural was gnawing at his mind.* *"Oh, little drow." came her voice directly next to his ear. He jumped and slashed empty air. "Haven't you heard the phrase 'let sleeping dragons lie'? You shouldn't have stuck your nose in Jaezred business."* *Ixdad desperately slashed left and right, the fear overwhelming him. Suddenly, a delicate hand clamped like steel around his throat, burning with cold power. He sank slowly to the ground as his strength drained away into that cold grip, and a blackness somehow different from that around him appeared at the edges of his vision. Just before consciousness left him for the last time, he felt the delicate brush of hair on his face and lips pressed on his. Dimly, from a distance, "Dream of me, lover."* : The drow of Faerûn are one of the mightiest powers of the Underdark, believing themselves to be masters of the shadows primarily through the blessings of Lolth. However, secretly working from within to undermine the Lolthites are the Jaezred Chaulssin, the spawn of drow kept as slaves by dragons of the Shadowfell. Those few drow who know of their existence fear the reputation of the *zekylyn* half-dragons as deadly assassins, their skills enhanced by the dragon blood in their veins while their drow weaknesses were largely negated. Just as deadly are their kin, the mysterious *zar'ithra'rin* shadow sorcerors. ### Dragon's Blood Thousands of years ago, the drow city of Chaulssin was enslaved by dragons of Clan Jaezred from the Plane of Shadow. Over the centuries, the pure-blood drow were largely replaced by the jaezreddin, half-dragon drow called *zekylyn* and others more distantly removed from their dragon ancestors known as *zar'ithra'rin*. They eventually rose up against the dragons, slaughtering all but one and reclaiming Chaulssin. However, the missionaries of Lolth from other drow cities soon came to forcefully convert the dragonkin, and rather then fight, the leaders of Chaulssin (calling themselves the Jaezred Chaulssin) chose to instead flee through a massive portal they opened to the Shadowfell. When they returned nearly 400 years later, the dragonkin once again reclaimed their abandoned city, reveling in the unnatural gloom that had enveloped it. ### Stratified Society Chaulssin is a city ruled by dragonkin, and no one else, not even a drow, has a hope of anything more than slavery within its bounds. At the top of the hierarchy are the Patron Fathers of the Jaezred Chaulssin, eight powerful half-dragons who have managed to entirely separate their draconic and drow essences but are able to take the full form of either. Due to their history with Lolthites and the assistance given to them by the Church of Vhaerun, their main goal is to completely undermine the rule of the Spider Queen in the Underdark. Serving the Patron Fathers are a corp of hundreds of elite zekylyn assassins. These Blades are nearly unmatched killers and infiltrators, spending centuries building a persona within a drow city and waiting for the perfect moment to bring the whole thing crashing down (quite literally, in the case of the city of Ched Nasad). Thousands more zekylyn warriors serve as the main army of the Chaulssin as well. Few zara'ithra'rin serve directly in the Jaezred Chaulssin, numbering less than a dozen despite making up more than half of the greater population of the city. These few are the mightiest sorcerors, rivaling even the Patron Fathers in power. Though considered "lesser", zar'ithra'rin have a much stronger connection to the arcane power of the Shadowfell than any zekyl and are natural sorcerers. All drow have an innate talent for magic, but even an untrained zar'ithra can weave shadow magic in ways that puts others to shame. Still, the \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

highest rank most can hope to attain is that of ilharen'quarthen, the primary female concubines of the Patron Fathers of Jaezred Chaulssin. ### Hidden and Lost Multiple jaezreddin agents of the Patron Fathers can be found in nearly every drow city, and in recent years they have even begun placing them in surface cities. While they have been raised within the cult, jaezreddin spend decades (if not centuries) away from others of their kind, and sometimes loneliness or curiosity overcomes their training. They will occasionally cut ties with the Jaezredd Chaulssin and begin to wander the world, still alone but at least masters of their own destiny and not a pawn to the Patron Fathers. ### Jaezreddin Names Jaezreddin often have several names. Since Chaulssin was ruled by dragons for centuries, their descendants have draconic names, but many are also raised with drow names to be used when infiltrating drow societies. Some zekylyn have also picked up the draconic habit of taking descriptive epithets. ### Jaezreddin Traits Your jaezreddin character has the following racial traits. **Age.** Dragon blood enhances the lifespan of the already long-lived drow. A zar'ithra can easily live more than a thousand years, and a zekyl may see millenia pass them by (assuming they survive that long). **Alignment.** Jaezreddin are raised in a society that blends drow culture with that of shadow dragons. As such, their cultures are generally considered to be evil, though they have no preference towards law or chaos. **Size.** Jaezreddin are slightly larger than drow on

\column average, but not enough to stand out in drow society. Most are a bit more than 5 feet tall. Your size is Medium **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Elven (Drow), Draconic, and Undercommon. **Superior Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can see in magical darkness within 10 feet of you as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Light Sensitivity.** You have disadvantage on Investigation, Insight, and Perception checks that rely on sight when you or the target of your check is in bright light. If you are in an area of darkness that is suddenly illuminated by bright light, you are blinded until the end of your next turn. **Fey Ancestry.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep. **Keen Senses.** You have proficiency in Perception. **Shadowborn.** You have resistance to necrotic damage. **Subrace.** Jaezreddin are primarily split between the deadly zekylyn assassins and the mighty zar'ithra'rin magic users. Choose one of the following subraces. #### Zekyl You are a scion of dragons. Deadly, strong, and proud, your enemies fall one by one, pawns in a long game in which you are always three moves ahead. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Strength and Intelligence scores increase by 1. **Gloom Dweller.** You have proficiency in the Stealth skill, can attempt to Hide from a creature when you are in dim light, and can take the Hide action as a bonus action when in an area of darkness. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

When you reach 7th level, you can cast the *shadow of moil ^(XGtE)* spell once with this trait. When you cast a spell using this trait, it requires no material components. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. ## Racial Feats As one of the jaezreddin, you have access to feats available to a drow elf would as well as those listed here. ### Breath of Night *Prerequisite: Jaezreddin* ___ Like your draconic ancestor, deadly shadows roil within you, ready to spill from your maw and utterly consume your foes. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with a use of your breath weapon. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in a 15 foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 necrotic damage and has disadvantage on its next attack roll or saving throw. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and suffers no other effects. The damage increases to 4d6 at 6th level, 6d6 at 11th level, and 8d6 at 16th level. Once per round, if a creature is reduced to 0 hit points by your breath weapon, you can immediately raise it as a shadow (Monster Manual p. 269) under your control for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier, after which it disappears. Shadows share your initiative count but act immediately after you. You can use your breath weapon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Trueborn *Prerequisite: Jaezreddin (Zekyl), 8th level* ___ The blood of the dragon is particularly strong in you, enhancing your physical form. You gain the following benefits: * You count as one size larger when calculating carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift. * You gain claws, which are natural weapons that you can use to make unarmed attacks. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to ld6 + your Dexterity modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. * As an action, you can cause massive bat wings with translucent shadowy webbing to spring from your back. For one hour, you have a flying speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you cannot be wearing heavy armor. You can dismiss these wings early as a bonus action. Some people are just mean to people that aren't like them."* *His distress grew. He turned away, hopping and pacing, the whistling grinding noises spilling out of his mouth again. He did this for several minutes, vanishing into his room and walking back. Finally, he stopped in front of her again. "Mama, what if there's no one else like me? What am I gonna do?"* \column The modrons of Mechanus, even more so than the angels of the Seven Heavens or the devils of the Nine Hells, are beings of Order. Still, the rare modron will sometimes go rogue and become curious about other facets of the worlds beyond the Primus' laws. It is inevitable that at some point some of them would mingle with mortals. As a result, mechanatrixes have come to be. ### Multiversal Orphans All planetouched struggle with fitting in, but mechanatrixes are particularly lonely creatures. Rather than being seen as family or at the very least an improvement on the usual sort of Primes, they are viewed by their modron relatives as flaws, imperfect beings that do not fit into their rational plan for reality. Meanwhile, their obvious supernatural features (namely their mask-like, metallic faces) make most non-planetouched uncomfortable. Their minds are shaped by the law and reason of Mechanus in a way that sets them apart from organic creatures, but that order is overturned by the irrational emotion they have inherited from the Prime. And underlying all of it is the all-consuming need to be a part of something, whether that's a mortal family or a modron hierarchy. To be alone is a truly devastating experience for mechanatrixes. ### Extended Family Despite being rare even for a planetouched race, it is almost unheard of to find an adult mechanatrix without several others nearby. In pursuit of the connections they crave, many mechanatrixes will search the world to find another of their kind, leaving their previous lives behind. If successful, those two will then work together to seek out more, both for the selfish goal of growing the group and the compassionate one of making sure no other mechanatrix needs to continue being alone. They become units with a near unbreakable bond between each member, and there is no limit to the growth of these groups. The search will continue as long as mechanatrixes exist, and many mechantrix units whisper among themselves about a greater society hidden away somewhere, a place where no one need ever be alone. ### Finding Purpose Those unlucky enough to not connect with a unit still work hard to form bonds with others. They usually end up joining enclaves of artisans and engineers, but many often become scholars, seeking to understand the laws that lay beneath reality. And yet, many have an artistic flair that no modron could ever understand. A mechanatrix scholar might organize their papers and books in a way that writes subtle poetry throughout their library, while a jeweler can shape the facets of their work in ways that create tiny flowers or the image of a lover formed out reflected light at the heart of the gem. While these works may not be completely understood, those who try to do so are rewarded with lifelong friendship and a glimpse into a unique view of the world. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

### Mechanatrix Names Mechanatrixes generally retain the names their Prime parents gave them. While modrons do have their own impeccably efficient language, names are irrelevant to them. Some mechanatrix units do create their own names in the Modron language, but they are nearly unpronounceable for anyone else and many of the artistic subtleties are lost to anyone outside of the unit. ### Mechanatrix Traits Your mechanatrix character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and either your Dexterity or Constitution score increases by 1. **Age.** Mechanatrixes mature at the same rate as their Prime parents, but at a certain point after reaching maturity their aging seems to slow or stop. **Alignment.** Mechanatrixes are quite often lawful, ordered people, but some will rebel against this inclination and become chaotic. Regardless, they generally remain neutral, focusing primarily on those they care about rather than outside conflicts. **Size.** You are the same size as your Prime parent. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and Modron. **Analytic Mind.** You have proficiency in the Investigation skill, and once per long rest you can automatically succeed on an Intelligence check to recall information. **Objectivity.** Your eyes can pierce through nearby illusions. You have truesight within 5 feet of you. **Internal Converter.** Your body is powered in part by a source of electricity within you. As a reaction when you take lightning damage, you can reduce the triggering damage to 0 and instead regain a number of hit points equal to half the damage you would have taken. You can use this feature once, after which you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest. Additionally, you know the *shocking grasp* cantrip. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for this spell. **Network.** When you are within 5 feet of an ally, you can both add a bonus of 1 to any attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. Multiple allies within range increases this bonus to 2 for you, but it does not increase for allies. ## Racial Feats ### Focused *Prerequisite: Mechanatrix* ___ As a bonus action, you can become hyperfocused on your goal, ignoring anything that would distract you from it. While in this state, you gain the following effects: * Choose two skills you have proficiency in, excluding Insight. You can apply double your proficiency bonus to any checks you make with those skills. * You do not require food or drink, and you can perform light activity instead of sleeping to gain the benefits of a long rest. If you have any levels of Exhaustion, you ignore their effects. * You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. * You have disadvantage on Insight checks, and your passive Perception score is equal to your Wisdom modifier. You remain in this state for an hour or until you are knocked unconscious. Upon leaving this state, you also gain a level of Exhaustion and take 1d8 psychic damage. Alternatively, you can extend the effect for an additional hour, but for every consecutive hour you spend in this state, the psychic damage increases by 1d4. You can use this feature once, after which you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest.

## Nephil *"All I want is to be left alone."* *The devil laughed "Left alone to do what? Scratch potatoes out of the ground? You are a prince of the Nine Hells, the true blood of Asmodeus. Every devil from the most pathetic lemure to the mightiest pit fiend should be lying prostrate at your feet. Your duty is defiance of the weakling angels and extermination of the scum of the Abyss. Why do you refuse to accept your destiny?"* *"Because I never asked for it!"* : Less well-known (or well-liked) than their aasimar cousins are the nephilim, sons and daughters of the fallen angels. ### Sins of the Father An angel who eventually falls is likely to have dallied among mortals before their exile, and as such many established aasimar bloodlines. When they fall, the spark of divine light within them is snuffed out and consumed by darkness. While any further bloodlines sired by the fallen one would be tieflings, those bloodlines already established weren't condemned to the Hells with them. Through some cosmic mercy (or perhaps cosmic joke), the heavenly light within them remains even as their blood binds them to the dark power of the Hells. They are left with twin souls conjoined as one, dark and light entwined. \column

### Ever Between While scholars may jokingly call nephilim "twilight aasimar," in reality they have been removed from the binary that true aasimar exist in. A fallen aasimar could reclaim the light should they throw off the shackles of evil. A nephil, on the other hand, cannot truly "rise" because they never fell in the first place. They remain in a grey half state between light and dark for their entire lives. Both the Heavens and Hells regard nephilim with wary respect and fear, because neither has much claim on them and their twin souls give them great power over the forces of both. Were a nephil to choose a side, they would be a powerful weapon to whoever claimed them. As such, both powers work hard to convince any known nephilim to join them. Nephilim have a natural tendency towards good, but some become prideful, their egos swelling as they recognize how much others *want* them. Others become irritated by the constant badgering from celestials and fiends and work to remove the influence of both from their lives. They have a compelling presence even their aasimar cousins lack, radiating the damning temptation that caused angels to fall. Looking a nephil directly in the eyes will leave one dizzy and disoriented. While natural skin tones are possible, many are born with milky white, steel grey, or blue-black skin. Their hair is meanwhile often shot through with streaks of a starkly different color. Regardless of coloration, their skin, hair, and eyes often have a pearly sheen, and they tower above most humanoids. As rare as nephilim are, there is no coherent culture shared between them. They take on the culture of the people they were born to. While upbringings vary as well, they are almost always viewed with awe by those who raise them, particularly if the child's true nature is known. Temples of all faiths will vie with each other to claim a nephil child, most having been informed by their gods of the child's existence. Few nephilim live rural lives, either being brought to cities by others or drifting there themselves in search of answers or anonymity. ### Nephil Names Nephilim do not have a distinct racial culture. Most have names originating from the culture of their Prime parents. After discovering their heritage some will take on Celestial or Infernal names, or adopt a name that signifies a virtue or other concept and then try to embody it. ___ **"Virtue" Names:** Art, Carrion, Chant, Creed, Despair, Excellence, Fear, Glory, Herald, Hope, Ideal, Melody, Nothing, Reverence, Sorrow, Temerity, Torment ### Nephil Traits Your nephil character has the following traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma and Strength scores increase by 2. **Age.** A nephil ages at the same rate as their Prime parents until they reach maturity, at which point they appear to stop aging. Ye've no hope of catching 'em unless ye can learn to do the same."* : Shyfts are the children of the Ethereal Plane, clever folk able to walk through walls as easily as air. ### Impossible Interactions It is truly unknown what causes shyfts to be born. There are few native inhabitants of the Ethereal Plane, fewer who are sentient or humanoid, and none who exhibit similar abilities to shyfts. It's assumed that nearly all shyfts are the result of planar exposure, but it's unclear how this could possibly happen, since by its very nature the Ethereal cannot affect the Material. Regardless of the enigma of their birth, shyfts are visually indistinguishable from their Prime kin, except perhaps for an odd shimmer to their eyes. In fact, they are so utterly unremarkable that most people have trouble noticing them, even in broad daylight. Most don't even know that they are any different from their Prime kin until their abilities manifests around the time of puberty. Using their abilities does cause a slight chill in the immediate area, and some animals do react oddly to their presence. Cats, dogs, and horses in particular may shy away from contact with shyfts. \column ### Ethereal Power While all planetouched have a connection to the home plane of their outsider ancestor, shyfts have an extremely strong bond with the Ethereal Plane, or at the very least a much weaker connection to the Prime. This allows them to enter the Border Ethereal at will. When they do so, they are invisible to most people and can move through solid objects with no difficulty. Even without leaving the Prime, they are very difficult to notice, quite literally fading from sight. Some gain the ability to reach planes other than the Ethereal, touching the Elemental Planes beyond and gaining a resiliance to their power. Many also have an innate resistance to magic. All in all, shyfts enjoy a wealth of powerful gifts, and most take great delight in utilizing them whenever they can. ### Talented Troublemakers Shyfts very often have cheerful, carefree attitudes, and combined with their natural abilities, this often leads to them causing minor troubles just for entertainment. If a village has stories of a local trickster spirit, there is a good chance that it is simply their shyft neighbor having some fun with a prank or two. If they are discovered and local opinion turns against them, shyfts are quite willing to pick up and move somewhere new just for the novelty of it. Still, a pleasant attitude does not mean they can't be dangerous or take things seriously. Shyft thieves and assassins are unmatched and in high demand. Turned to the warrior arts, their abilities leave even the most skilled opponents dizzy and disoriented as they vanish after every swing only to reappear where they were least expected. ### Shyft Names Shyfts use names from the Prime culture they were raised in, though they take new ones easily and often.

If no unoccupied space is available within that range, you appear in the nearest unoccupied space (chosen at random if more than one space is equally near). While in the Border Ethereal, you can see and hear the plane you originated from. Everything is cast in shades of gray, and you can't see anything there more than 30 feet away. You can only affect and be affected by other creatures, objects, and effects on the Ethereal Plane. Creatures that aren't in the Ethereal can't perceive you or interact with you, unless they have an ability that allows them to do so. You cannot use this feature while you are on the Ethereal Plane or a plane that doesn't border it, such as one of the Outer Planes. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, after which you must complete a long rest before doing so again. **Otherworldly.** Your mind is different from those of most creatures and your connection to whatever plane you are currently on is wonderfully tenuous, making it difficult for magic to take hold of you. You have advantage on all Intelligence, Constitution, and Dexterity Saving Throws against magic. ## Racial Feats ### Elemental Reach *Prerequisite: Shyft* ___ When you take acid, cold, fire, or lightning damage, as a reaction you can expend a use of your blink feature to gain resistance to the triggering damage. \column ### Ghost Walk *Prerequisite: Shyft, 8th level* ___ As an action, you can spend 3 uses of your *blink* racial trait to remain in the Border Ethereal for longer periods. For the next 10 minutes, you can enter the Ethereal Plane or return to the plane you originated from at will as an action. All conditions of being in the Ethereal Plane from the *blink* racial trait still apply. Additionally, you can move in any direction while on the Ethereal Plane. If you move up or down, every foot of movement costs an extra foot. You can move through objects and creatures you perceive on the plane you originated from. If the effect ends while you are in the Ethereal, you immediately return to the plane you originated from in the spot you currently occupy. If you reappear in the same spot as a solid object or creature, you are immediately shunted to the nearest unoccupied space that you can occupy and take force damage equal to twice the number of feet you are moved.

## Tanarukk *"We've driven the invaders from our lands!" Thaog roared to the gathered orcs, voice even louder than usual, enough to shake the ground even without his audience's stamping feet. "Now we will drive them back across the sea!! We will burn their unholy trees and slaughter their children as they did ours! **WE WILL HAVE OUR VENGEANCE**!"* *The crowd howled in bloodthirsty delight, all except for Yegad. His nails cut deep into his palms as he watched the child he had prayed for and the tribes that child was dragging into bloody darkness. He turned to Shediza, who was struggling to hold the spiky little baby as it tried to escape her grasp and toddle towards its father on the Speaking Stone. He could see her own despair overflow to spill down her cheeks. Her voice was inaudible over the shouts and screams, but he knew what she said.* *"We made a mistake."* : While orcs are often depicted as evil, in reality they are no more inherently evil than any human. Tanarukks, though, take orcish strength, passion, and skill in battle and magnify it through a savage demonic lens. Almost without exception, they are bloodthirsty beasts determined to slay ever greater foes and crush the weak who cross their path, and with the demonic blood in their veins they have the power to carry out their dreams of slaughter. ### Desperate Measures First-generation tanarukks are often the result of orc tribes in dark times who call on even darker powers to save them. No orc will openly admit fear, but a good leader will lie awake at night thinking about what mistakes they might have made, and bad leaders always desire more than what they have. In these moments of weakness, fiends may walk among the tribe to whisper in an ear, saying that they can offer a gift, a child who will make the tribe great for uncounted generations. And all it takes is a single "yes" for a tanarukk to be spawned. ### Unholy Blessing At first, a tanarukk child seems like a dream come true to its parents. Bigger, stronger, and more cunning than their age mates, they excel so much that the obvious demonic traits like horns, spiked skin, and excessive cruelty are ignored. By their fourth or fifth year many have developed minor supernatural abilities, gaining mastery of fire and being able to shake the earth at will. Their power makes them popular in most orc tribes, and by the time they reach adulthood they are already a serious threat to the authority of most leaders, though they care little for diplomacy or the management of daily affairs. And when they finally lead their people in battle, they lead from the front, becoming avatars of death who often do not even recognize their allies once all their foes have been slain. With every drop of blood spilled, they slip further and further into madness, rage, and certainty that their way is the true way of the orcs. By this point, their tribe has likely realized what a grave error it has made. \column

### Fathering An Army The true danger of a tanarukk isn't its personal power, however. It is the fact that their corruption breeds true for generation. Tanarukks mate enthusiastically and often, and every generation for the next three is guaranteed to be made up of tanarukks just as brutal as their forebear. Even beyond that it's still possible for them to be born spontaneously from non-tanarukk parents. As such, it's easy for tanarukks to go from the usual rarity of most planetouched to being common enough to threaten nations with their numbers. They rapidly outlive and outnumber the orcs who birthed them, and the only way to stop the spread is to annihilate the bloodline root and branch. Even if the orcs succeed in this herculean task, the tribe is left with nothing but old people unable to carry on the name of the tribe. Unless it is slain immediately after serving its purpose, the birth of a tanarukk child is the first step towards the doom of its tribe, one way or another. ### Tanarukk Names Tanarukk generally retain orcish names, though some may take Abyssal names after they become adults. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

They often weigh upwards of 400 pounds, all of it muscle. Your size is Medium. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common, Orcish, and Abyssal. **Speed.** Your sheer bulk makes fast movement difficult. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. The only color you can see in darkvision is red, otherwise everything is seen in shades of grey. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to fire damage. **Infernal Scion.** You know the *create bonfire ^(XGtE)* and *thaumaturgy* cantrips. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. **Mighty Thews.** You can add your Strength modifier to your AC in place of your Dexterity modifier. Additionally, you count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift, and you can grapple or shove creatures up to two sizes larger than you. **Fast Healing.** When you roll Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points, your Hit Dice are considered one size larger, up to d12s (for example, a d6 becomes a d8). If your hit dice are d12s, you can add 2 hit points to the total regained for every d12 Hit Dice you use. **Relentless Endurance.** When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. : To be greeted with stares and whispers, to see mistrust and fear in every eye: this is the lot of the tiefling. And to twist the knife, tieflings know that this is because a pact struck generations ago infused the essence of an archdevil into their bloodline. Their appearance and their nature are no fault of theirs, but rather the result of an ancient sin, for which they and their children and their children's children will always be held accountable. ### Infernal Bloodline Tieflings are usually born to humans, and in the broadest possible sense, they still look human. However, their infernal heritage has left a clear imprint on their appearance. Tieflings have large horns that take any of a variety of shapes: some have curling horns like a ram, others have straight and tall horns like a gazelle, and some spiral upward like an antelope's horns. They have thick tails, four to five feet long, which lash or coil around their legs when they get upset or nervous. Their canine teeth are sharply pointed, and their eyes are solid colors - black, red, white, silver, or gold - with no visible sclera or pupil. Their skin tones cover the full range of human coloration, but also include various shades of red, blue, green, and grey. Their hair is usually dark, from black or brown to dark red, blue, or purple. ### Mutual Mistrust People tend to be suspicious of tieflings, assuming that their infernal heritage has left its mark on their morality, not just their appearance. Shopkeepers keep a close eye on their goods when tieflings enter their stores, the town watch might follow a tiefling around for a while, and demagogues blame tieflings for strange happenings. The reality is that a tiefling's bloodline doesn't affect their ethics to any great degree. In fact, many are actually extremely resilient to the sins their fiendish ancestors are patrons of. Years of dealing with mistrust has a much greater effect on most tieflings, and they respond to it in \column different ways. Some choose to live up to the wicked stereotype, but others are virtuous. Most are simply very aware of how people view them and develop the ability to overcome prejudice through charm or intimidation. ### Self-Reliant Tieflings are found mostly in human cities or towns, often in the roughest quarters of those places. Sometimes they live among other minority populations where they are treated with more respect than among their human kin. Lacking a homeland, tieflings know that they have to make their own way in the world and that they have to be strong to survive. Though many are extremely charismatic and attract followers easily, they are not quick to trust anyone claiming friendship. However, when a tiefling's companions demonstrate that they truly care for them, the tiefling is a firm friend or ally for life. ### Tiefling Names Tiefling names fall into three broad categories. Some retain names originating from the culture they were born into. Some have names derived from the Infernal language to reflect their fiendish heritage. And some younger tieflings, striving to find a place in the world, adopt a name that signifies a virtue or other concept and then try to embody that concept. For some, the chosen name is a noble quest. For others, it's a grim destiny. ___ **Male Infernal Names:** Akmenos, Amnon, Barakas, Damakos, Ekemon, Iados, Kairon, Leucis, Melech, Mordai, Morthos, Pelaios, Skamos, Therai ___ **Female Infernal Names:** Akta, Anakis, Bryseis, Criella, Damaia, Ea, Kallista, Lerissa, Makaria, Nemeia, Orianna, Phelaia, Rieta ___ **"Virtue" Names:** Art, Carrion, Chant, Creed, Despair, Excellence, Fear, Glory, Hope, Ideal, Music, Nowhere, Open, Poetry, Quest, Random, Reverence, Sorrow, Temerity, Torment, Weary ### Tiefling Traits Your tiefling character has the following racial traits. **Age.** Tieflings mature at the same rate as humans but live a few years longer. **Alignment.** An independent nature inclines many tieflings toward a chaotic alignment combined with a broad spectrum of moralities. **Size.** Tieflings are about the same size and build as their Prime parents. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and Infernal. **Devil's Sight.** Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can see in magical darkness within 10 feet of you as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Subrace.** There are a number of tiefling subraces, each tied to a different archdevil and the layer of Hell they rule. \page #### Avernese Tiefling Tieflings with a blood tie to Zariel are stronger than other tieflings and retain a spark of the angelic power she once wielded. Skilled warriors, they hold themselves above and apart from their peers. They tend to have pale gray skin and halo-like ivory horns. While they are not the most charming of tieflings, they have a cold, classic beauty that stands in opposition to their fiery tempers. **Ability Score Inscrease.** Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to fire damage. **Aggressive Offense.** As a bonus action, you can move up to your speed toward an enemy of your choice that you can see or hear. You must end this move closer to the enemy than you started. **Hellish Consumption.** Hellfire rages within you, demanding that you bring the world to its knees. As an action, you can temporarily amplify the infernal energy running through your veins. Fire flares from your eyes and powerful wings of shadow and flame rise from your back. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. For the duration, you have a flying speed of 30 feet. In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra necrotic or fire damage (your choice) to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage equals your level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again.

\column #### Disic Tiefling Disic tieflings generally inherit the paranoia of the Iron Duke Dispater and are even more likely than other tieflings to be isolated from other people. Still, they are intelligent and graceful creatures, able to succeed at most anything they put their powerful minds to, and as such are valued wherever they end up. They tend to have smaller horns than some other tieflings, but very often have cloven hooves instead of humanoid feet. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence and Dexterity scores increase by 2. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to fire damage. **Spymaster.** You have proficiency in the Insight and Stealth skills. **Long Game.** When you roll initiative, you can choose to be last in the initiative order to give yourself advantage on a number of attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks equal to your Intelligence modifier. Any instances of advantage not used before combat ends are lost. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. #### Minaurosine Tiefling Regardless of their personal morality, Minaurosine tieflings tend to bring out the worst in others. As descendants of Mammon, they can incite avarice in people with just a few words, and most have no compunctions about debasing themselves at the drop of a hat if it means some advantage for them. Additionally, their physical features rarely engender trust. Snake-like eyes, vomit-colored scales, bony dorsal spikes, and jagged teeth are all common traits on top of the standard horns and tails. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage. **Incite Greed.** You have proficency in the Deception and Persuasion skills. You have advantage on Persusasion checks to negotiate prices or bribe someone. **Grovel.** As an action on your turn, you can cower and offer your surrender and loyalty to nearby enemies. Until the end of your next turn, enemies within 10 feet of you that can see or hear you have disadvantage on attack rolls against you, too disgusted by your pathetic whining to sully their blades. Meanwhile, your allies gain advantage on attack rolls against those creatures. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. #### Phlegethosian Tiefling The descendants of Fierna share her zest for life, often being adrenaline junkies or hedonists. They are the first to dive in to any exciting new endeavour and are skilled at convincing others to join them, aided by their ability to tip the cosmic scales in their favor even in failure. Phlegethosian tieflings are often tall and extremely beautiful, but razor sharp teeth and fiery eyes make their {{pageNumber,auto}}

reckless grins extremely off-putting. They have small horns that are often hidden by their thick, dark hair. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Consitution score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to fire damage. **Party All Night.** Magic can't put you to sleep. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you can spend all 8 hours doing light activity. **Underdogs.** When you or a creature you can see within 30 feet would normally make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw with advantage or disadvantage, you can have them roll three d12’s instead. The die roll result equals the sum of the two highest d12 rolls if they were rolling with advantage or the two lowest d12 rolls if they were rolling with disadvantage. The creature cannot get a critical success when you do this, but they still count as having advantage or disadvantage in regards to qualifying for other abilities (such as a rogue's sneak attack). You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. **Impulsive.** You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum bonus of +1). #### Stygian Tiefling Few are as skilled at inciting betrayal as the Frozen Prince, Levistus. In his tiefling descendants, this usually manifests in being extremely popular, with even their enemies bergrudgingly finding them charming. Adapted to survive in the brutal cold of Stygia's infinite ocean, they are strong swimmers and have thin gills on their necks. They generally have pale skin and hair, both in shades of white, grey, or blue. Their eyes are large and piscine. While any horn type is possible, some Stygian tieflings are known to have a single spiraling horn on their foreheads. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to cold damage. **Amphibious.** You have a swimming speed of 30 feet, and you can breathe both air and water. **Aquavision.** Your range of vision is doubled underwater compared to those without aquavision, as determined by the table on the table on page 117 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide. **Bladedancer's Grace.** You have proficiency in the Acrobatics and Persuasion skills. **Stygian Chill.** You know the *frostbite ^(XGtE)* cantrip. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. **Double Agents.** Charmed creatures within 60 feet of you are considered to be charmed by you as well, regardless of the source of the charmed effect. As a bonus action, you can attempt to command a creature charmed by you to do harm. The charmed creature must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failure, it must use its next action to make an attack or use a damage-causing spell or effect that targets one of its allies. If there are no targets within range but the charmed creature could move to be \column

A creature you attempt to command becomes immune to further attempts to do so for 24 hours, regardless of whether it fails or succeeds the saving throw. #### Malbolgine Tiefling Malbolgine tieflings are descended from the Archduchess Glasya, Dark Prodigy and daughter of Asmodeus. They can call on the corrupt flesh that forms the foundation of Malbolge to heal their wounds, and like her they delight in pranks and bending rules as far as they can without breaking them. Metallic copper skin and forked tails thinner than those of other tieflings are common among Malbolgine tieflings, and more often than not an impish grins can be found on their comely faces. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to psychic damage. **Cliff Climber.** You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. **Cancerous Healing.** As an action, you can spend a number of Hit Dice up to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1 Hit Die) to regain hit points as you would during a short rest. **Trickster's Instincts.** You have advantage on all Dexterity, Charisma, and Intelligence saves against magic. \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

#### Maladominese Tiefling Baalzebul is the Lord of Corruption, both physical and spiritual. Ironically, his descendants are some of the least likely to fall under his power, being extremely resilient to the attemps of others to sway them to evil. As descendants of a fallen celestial, they are extremely beautiful. Jet black skin and hair are common, and their horns (or antlers in some cases) are thin and elegant. However, nearly all Maladominese tieflings have the shimmering compound eyes of a fly, with some even being able to extend them from their heads like a slug. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Consitution score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against acid and poison damage. You are immune to non-magical diseases. **Incorruptible.** You have advantage on Insight or Perception checks to detect lies as well advantage on saving throws against being charmed. **Perfectionist.** As a reaction when you have disadvantage on an attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, you can negate the disadvantage and roll the dice as normal. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. **Sins of the Forefather.** You have disadvantage on \column Deception checks against devils. You cannot apply your *perfectionist* racial trait to this disadvantage. #### Canian Tiefling The archdevil Mephistopheles is a master of magic. Canian tieflings retain his gift, as well as his specific mastery over hellfire and the bitter cold of Cania. They tend to also be prideful and prone to obsession, becoming masters of their crafts. Mephistopheles delights in looking as stereotypically devilish as possible, and his descendants look much the same. Most have large curving horns, straight black hair, sharp teeth, and talon-like nails. They are equally likely to have red or blue skin tones of any shade. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Intelligence score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to cold and fire damage. **Arcane Savagery.** Once on your turn when you score a critical hit with an attack roll or reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can cast any cantrip you know that targets an enemy creature as a bonus action. **Frostfire.** You know the *firebolt* and *ray of frost* cantrips. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells. If you score a critcal hit with these spells, the bonus damage is necrotic damage. #### Nessusian Tiefling The children of Asmodeus are among the most common kind of tiefling, less because of the Prince of Hell's promiscuity and more as a result of his schemes to ritually corrupt other tiefling bloodlines to his own. As a result, they set the standard of what tieflings look and act like for most people. Even generations removed from Asmodeus, they retain an aura of his regality. The sweep of their thick horns is like a crown, their eyes are dismissive yet calculating, and there is no doubt in the minds of others that they are meant to rule whatever domain they choose. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Intelligence score increase by 1. **Hellish Resistance.** You have resistance to necrotic damage. **Forked Tongue.** You have proficiency in the Deception and Persuasion skills. **None Before Me.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed. **Devil's Own Luck.** When you roll a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can reroll the die. You must use the new result, even if it is a 1. **Lordly Command.** As an action, you speak a command of up to 3 words to a creature you can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or follow the command on its next turn. This feature has no effect if the target doesn't understand your language, can't follow your command, or if your command is directly harmful to it. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. \page {{pageNumber,auto}} ## Vedit A vedit is to drow what a genasi is to humans and other surfacers, a being touched by the power of the Elemental Planes. However, the faezress and the harsh realities of the Faerûnian Underdark have made the veditnal manifest in different ways than their genasi cousins. ### Vedit Names Vedit primarily use drow names, though they may use one from the Primordial dialect of their elemental ancestor. ### Vedit Traits Your vedit character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 1. **Age.** Veditnal are uncommon and no one is sure how long one can live since many are slain before dying of old age, but they appear to have at least a standard elven lifespan. They reach maturity at around 100 years old and may live upwards of 750 years. **Size.** Veditnal, like drow, range from around 4 feet to just over 5 feet tall and have very slender builds. Women are usually taller than men. Your size is Medium. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Elven (Drow), Undercommon, and the dialect of Primordial related to your elemental manifestation. **Superior Darkvision** Raised by your drow kin in the depths of the Underdark, your eyes are not hindered by darkness. You can see in dim light within 120 feet as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. **Light Sensitivity.** You have disadvantage on Investigation, Insight, and Perception checks that rely on sight when you or the target of your check is in bright light. If you are in an area of darkness that is suddenly illuminated by bright light, you are blinded until the end of your next turn. **Fey Ancestry.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep. **Drow Weapon Training.** You have proficiency with rapiers, shortswords, and hand crossbows. **Magical Inheritance.** Both your drow and elemental ancestors are innately magical. When you reach certain levels, you gain the ability to cast certain spells based on your subrace, as shown on the table below. When you cast a spell using this trait, it requires no material components. You regain the ability to cast a spell this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using a spell slot you have of the appropriate level or higher. #### Air Vedit Air veditnal are the rarest of all vedit types due to the equal rarity of Elemental Air powers that exist in the Underdark. The oppressive power of earth all around them and the constant stillness of the air generally drives most air veditnal mad, with only a lucky few who escape to the surface retaining their sanity in the long run. Those who remain are generally hermits living in the wilds, having gotten lost trying to find a way out, although some do manage to live in the massive caves that house drow cities. Air veditnal are often overwhelmed by their elemental nature as it attempts to counteract the conflicting energy that surrounds them, and they become wispy and ghostly with age, even their dark drow skin turning pale as porcelain. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Wisdom score increases by 2. **Unending Breath.** You can hold your breath indefinitely while you are not incapacitated. If you take damage while holding your breath, you must pass a Constitution saving \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

throw (DC 10 or half the damage you take, whichever is higher) to continue doing so. **Insubstantial.** Sections of your body sometimes turn from flesh to air. You have a +1 bonus to your AC. #### Earth Vedit Earth veditnal are, unsurprisingly, the most common type of veditnal. While earth genasi are also known for their love of the dark, an earth vedit can move unseen through the caves of the Underdark with speed and skill that is rare even among other natives. Shadow is their friend, and they ignore the restrictions that cave walls impose on others. A earth vedit might hide within a stalagmite for hours to burst forth suddenly, or lead an enemy on a lengthy chase through the dark only to disappear, leaving them trapped in the lair of some beast. Their own homes are veritable fortresses of stone shrouded in impenetrable darkness. Earth veditnal form tight-knit enclaves within drow communities, and while other veditnal may not feel much kinship with each other, earth veditnal will welcome others in with little question. Attempts to take advantage of this extension of trust are not well received, and rare is the traitor who survives the repayment of their betrayal. \column **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity and Constitution scores increase by 1. **Darkvision** Your darkvision is enhanced by your connections to the Elemental Plane of Earth and the faezress. You can see in magical darkness within 10 feet of you as if it were dim light. **Cavestalker.** You can move across difficult terrain made of earth or stone without expending extra movement, and can attempt to Hide when you are in an area of dim light. **Stone's Embrace.** Starting at 5th level, you can use your movement to step 5 feet into a stone object or surface large enough to fully contain your body at a point you can touch. Nothing of your presence remains visible or otherwise detectable by nonmagical senses. You can use your movement to leave the stone where you entered it, but otherwise cannot move. While within the stone, you have 30 feet of tremorsense, but cannot otherwise see or hear. Minor physical damage to the stone doesn’t harm you, but its partial destruction or a change in its shape (to the extent that you no longer fit within it) expels you and deals 6d6 bludgeoning damage to you. The stone’s complete destruction or transmutation into a different substance expels you and deals 50 bludgeoning damage to you. If expelled, you fall prone in an unoccupied space closest to where you first entered. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. #### Fire Vedit Fire veditnal are not particularly common, the primary reason being simply that very few survive to adulthood. Many are killed at birth because fire is so harsh on drow eyes. Those who reach adolescence are unlikely to survive training or excursions into the Underdark wilds due to their flame manifestations making them easy targets in the dark. Most surviving fire veditnal burn with black or purple flames that aren't visible in the dark (a side effect of exposure to the faezress) or are easily dimmed. A natural tendency to impulsive decisions, their desperate fight for survival, and an inherent skill in a variety of arcane arts leads to many of them becoming deadly magical warriors. Their force of will also allows them to rise quickly through the ranks to positions of power, where they are firm and fierce leaders. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength and Charisma scores increase by 1. **Fire Resistance.** You have resistance to fire damage. **Light Sensitivity.** While bright light is still not comfortable for you, you are not blinded by sudden exposure to it. **Aggressive Offense.** As a bonus action, you can move up to your speed toward an enemy of your choice that you can see or hear. You must end this move closer to the enemy than you started. #### Water Vedit Water veditnal are somewhat less elemental than their kin, instead appearing something like the drow equivalent of a sea elf, having webbed digits and gills. Despite this, they are no less dangerous than other veditnal. While \page {{pageNumber,auto}}

others rely on their magical tricks or physical force, a water vedit's advantage lies in clever use of her body's adaptations. Water veditnal often work in pairs, with one luring prey or an enemy into place so that another vedit can ambush them and drag them into the depths. Some are even able to turn as clear as glass, becoming functionally invisible, and many become highly resistant to poison, a very useful adaptation in the world of the drow. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity and Constitution scores increase by 1. **Amphibious.** You have a swimming speed of 30 feet, and you can breathe both air and water. **Bioluminescence.** You can cause parts of your skin to glow with colorful light and shed dim light in a 5 foot radius, requiring no action and ending the effect at will. **Electrogenesis.** You have blindsight within 5 feet of you, and if you grapple a creature or are grappled by one, you can use your reaction to deal 1d4 lightning damage to the creature. **Aquavision.** The waters of the Underdark are no less dark or deadly than its dry tunnels. You can see in dim light within 120 feet as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Your range of vision is doubled underwater compared to those without aquavision, as determined by the table on the table on page 117 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of blue or gray. This replaces the *darkvision* racial trait. Additionally, your vision is tinged by your connections to the Elemental Plane of Water and the faezress. When using your aquavision, living creatures within range radiate their own bioluminescence, giving you advantage on Perception checks to detect hidden creatures. ## Racial Feats As a veditnal, you have access to feats available to dark elves as well as those listed here. ### Bloody Revenge *Prerequisite: Vedit (fire)* ___ Your blood is fire, something your enemies learn to their dismay when they strike you. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Strength or Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * As a reaction when you are struck by a weapon attack, you can cause your spilled blood to ignite the area around you. All creatures within 5 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 3d6 fire damage. The damage increases to 4d6 at 6th level, 5d6 at 11th level, and 6d6 at 16th level. Additionally, for the next minute the ground within the radius of effect burns creatures other than you that end their turn in the area for an additional 1d6 fire damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Demersal Hunter *Prerequisite: Vedit (water)* ___ Your body has evolved even more natural adaptations to the dangerous environment of the Underdark. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * **Dilution.** You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned and resistance to poison and acid damage. * **Glass Skin.** As a bonus action, you activate a natural defense mechanism and become invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a damage roll, or force someone to make a saving throw. This is a biological ability, and as such cannot be dispelled or detected with divination magic. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again.

### Mist Born *Prerequisite: Vedit (air), 8th level* ___ Elemental Air consumes your physical form, and you are no longer bound to a solid shape. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Dexterity or Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * As a bonus action, you can transform yourself along with everything you are wearing and carrying into a misty cloud for up to 10 minutes. This effect ends if you drop to 0 hit points. In this state, you can enter and occupy the space of another creature. You have resistance to nonmagical damage, and have advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws. You can pass through small holes, narrow openings, and even mere cracks, though you treat liquids as though they were solid surfaces. You revert to your natural state at the end of the duration. If you start your turn within a space that is smaller than your natural form, you are expelled to the nearest exit, taking 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 5 feet you travel. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again.

## Worghest *Big people are dumb. Little people too, I guess, 'cause even the halflings and gnomes can't tell what I am. Goblins can, but they're so scared of me that it's barely even worth eating them. It's a trade, I guess. Smart enough to be terrified and live or dumb enough to feel safe and die. Maybe being dumb is what makes them so tasty. But I guest the tasty part is your soul. Isn't dumb in your brain? Brains are meat, not soul. Huh. Maybe Father knows where people keep their dumbness. We could keep it as a snack. Like candy.* : Most goblins have a certain cunning that lets them survive in worlds that view them as lesser, but when combined with the blood of a barghest fiend, that cunning is honed to a razor-sharp edge by a predator's instincts and supported by an inherited appetite for souls. ### Open Secret The wolf-fiends of Gehenna known as barghests have evolved (or were created) to live among goblins almost imperceptibly. Sent into the Prime Material shortly after birth, they appear to be nothing more than the average goblin, even to those they live with. However, eventually they are discovered to be rapacious killers who devour the souls of powerful enemies, determined to gain enough power to return to Gehenna and compete among their kin for dominance. While they rarely seek to rule, goblins aware of their presence view them with absolute awe and terror. They are worshiped as something just barely short of a god, and gods will take their liberties. Worghests are the result of those liberties. Blue-skinned, orange-eyed, and covered in a thin coat of fur, they are immediately recognizable to any goblin, even if they are several generations removed from their fiendish ancestor. For some reason, however, other races find them indistinguishable from other goblins. It's unclear whether this is due to some slight innate glamour or simply the dismissive attitude many have towards goblins. Animals find worghests unnerving but can't determine why, and canines in particular are extremely aggressive towards them. The only exceptions to this are evil canines such as worgs or winter wolves, who instead sense a kindred spirit. ### Cannibal Connoisseur Worghests are a living nightmare to the goblins they are born to. While worghests cannot "return" to Gehenna (usually being natives of the Prime), they still have a hunger for souls and gain more limited power from consuming them. In some ways, this makes them even more horrifying in their eating habits. A barghest at least kills its prey every time. Worghests need only eat part of a soul, and therefore an equivalent part of a creature. A tribe with a worghest living within it will often have several members with chunks taken out of them, the worghest having sampled their flesh and soul and decided to keep them around as a prolonged meal. As the worghest \column

continues to feed from them physically, their spirit diminishes as well, and they become empty shells even if they still cling to life. Despite this, worghests are rarely killed or abandoned, since goblins are more afraid of what vengeance might come from a fiend whose descendant was slain than they are of spiritual annihilation. ### Hero-Slayer Despite the terrified subservience they inspire in goblins, most worghests do not spend much time among them. A leadership role involves responsibilities they would much \page {{pageNumber,auto}} rather be free of. They prefer to stalk the surrounding countryside alone, seeking out more powerful and more worthy prey to satisfy their cravings. Some eventually enter the settlements of other races, taking advantage of the fact that they are very often dismissed as "just another goblin" to scope out unsuspecting adventurers. They may even sign on with such groups, playing on the expectation of goblin foolishness to lure them into a sense of security before striking when they least expect it. ### Worghest Names Goblins do not name worghest children, believing that names hold power over a person and being unwilling to put themselves in a position of power over a worghest (if only to lower the chance of being its first victim). Worghests generally choose their own names from the goblin language as they mature, though some also choose an Abyssal or Infernal name, especially if they have been in contact with their barghest ancestor. ### Worghest Traits Your worghest character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Constitution and Wisdom scores increase by 1. **Age.** Worghests age similarly to goblins and reach adulthood at age 8, but can live upwards of 100 years. **Alignment.** Worghests tend towards neutral evil. Their primary focus is keeping themselves alive, even if that comes at the expense of others, though they are not necessarily cruel for the saek of cruelty. **Size.** Worghests are generally around 4 feet tall and weigh between 80 and 100 pounds. Your size is Small. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 35 feet. **Languages.** You speak, read, and write Common, Goblin, and Worg. **Howler.** You have the ability to communicate in a limited manner with canines. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return. You have advantage on Intimidation checks you make against them, unless they are of evil alignment, in which case you have advantage on Persuasion checks instead. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Predator.** You have proficiency in the Stealth and Survival skills. **Fury of the Small.** When you damage a creature with an attack or a spell and the creature's size is larger than yours, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again. **Spirit Cannibal.** You can absorb a fragment of a sentient creature's soul by devouring its flesh. The \column creature must be alive or have been dead for no more than 12 hours. It must also have had an Intelligence score of at least 4 or more, and it cannot have been of the construct, elemental, ooze, plant, or undead creature types. You must take at least one minute to consume a sufficient amount of flesh (minimum one pound). When you do so, you gain one of the following benefits: * Determine the creature's two highest ability scores. Your gain a +1 bonus to the modifiers of these two scores if the creature's equivalent score is 15 or higher. If the creature's ability score is 20 or higher, you instead gain a +2 bonus. If the score is 25 or higher, you instead gain a +3 bonus. * You gain temporary hit points equal to twice the creatures challenge rating (minimum 1 temporary hit point). These temporary hit points are restored after completing a short or long rest. * If the creature had the ability to cast spells, you can choose one spell that it knew. If the spell is a cantrip, you can cast it at will until the effect ends. If the spell is of 1st level or higher, you can cast the chosen spell once per long rest without requiring a spell slot or material components. The chosen spell's level cannot be greater than one-third your own level (minimum 1st level spell). Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells. The chosen effect lasts for a number of hours equal to the creature's challenge rating (minimum 1 hour). The effect ends early if you use this feature again, if you take fire damage, or if you are targeted by a *dispel magic* spell or other similar effect. **Pyrophobia.** While flames cannot banish you to Gehenna like a true barghest, they still have a negative effect on both your body and soul. When you take fire damage, you add an additional dice of damage to the total and have disadvantage on your next attack roll, saving throw, or skill check before the end of your next turn. ## Racial Feats ### Hound of Hell *Prerequisite: Worghest* ___ The blood of a truly powerful barghest howls in your veins, giving you advantages even other worghests lack. You gain the following benefits: * Choose acid, cold, poison, or lightning. You gain resistance to the chosen damage type. * Your claws and bite are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing or piercing damage (respectively) equal to ld4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. * You can cast the *pass without trace* spell once with this trait, requiring no material components and regaining the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. When you use your *divine assault* racial trait and deal the extra force damage to a creature, you can also deal force damage equal to half your level to other creatures within 30 feet of the original target. You can target a number of creatures with this feature up to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1). \column ### Beloved Pariah *Prerequisite: Nephil, 8th level* ___ Your very presence declares that there is an End, and it is Coming. As an action, you can cause your eyes to ripple between light and dark, and great shadowy wings shot through with radiance rise from your back. Those nearby are compelled to worship in awe or cower from the Truth. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. When you transform, creatures within 10 feet of you that can see or hear you must make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a fail, they become charmed or frightened by you (your choice) until your transformation ends or they take any damage. Fiends and celestials have disadvantage on the save. In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra radiant or necrotic damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage equals your level. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Be Not Afraid *Prerequisite: Aasimar, Nephil, Tiefling (Avernese),
Tiefling (Maladominese), or Tiefling (Nessusian)* ___ You can perform minor miracles as a sign of your celestial (or formerly celestial) heritage. You learn the *prestidigitation* and *thaumaturgy* cantrips. The range of these spells is extended to 120 feet. ### Bloody Revenge *Prerequisite: Vedit (fire)* ___ Your blood is fire, something your enemies learn to their dismay when they strike you. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Strength or Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * As a reaction when you are struck by a weapon attack, you can cause your spilled blood to ignite the area around you. All creatures within 5 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 3d6 fire damage. The damage increases to 4d6 at 6th level, 5d6 at 11th level, and 6d6 at 16th level. Additionally, for the next minute the ground within the radius of effect burns creatures other than you that end their turn in the area for an additional 1d6 fire damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. \page {{pageNumber,auto}} ### Breath of Night *Prerequisite: Jaezreddin* ___ Like your draconic ancestor, deadly shadows roil within you, ready to spill from your maw and utterly consume your foes. As a bonus action, you can exhale a cone of this shadow. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in a 15 foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 necrotic damage and has disadvantage on its next attack roll or saving throw. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and suffers no other effects. The damage increases to 4d6 at 6th level, 6d6 at 11th level, and 8d6 at 16th level. Once per round, if a creature is reduced to 0 hit points by your breath weapon, you can immediately raise it as a shadow (Monster Manual p. 269) under your control for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier, after which it disappears. Shadows share your initiative count but act immediately after you. You can use your breath weapon a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Chaos Incarnate *Prerequisite: Chaond, 8th level* ___ Ironically, you have some measure of control over your own chaotic influence on the world. You gain the following benefits: * When you complete a long rest and roll to determine what resistance you have as part of your Blood of Chaos feature, roll twice. You gain the results of both. * Once per long rest, you can choose to reroll all the damage dice for an attack roll. You must use the new results. * Once per long rest as a bonus action, you can throw a battlefield into chaos. Every creature that is currently part of the initiative order (including yourself) must reroll their initiative. You can add your usual modifiers to the initiative roll, but all other creatures must roll a d20 with no modifiers. ### Demersal Hunter *Prerequisite: Vedit (water)* ___ Your body has evolved even more natural adaptations to the dangerous environment of the Underdark. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * **Dilution.** You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned and resistance to poison and acid damage. * **Glass Skin.** As a bonus action, you activate a natural defense mechanism and become invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a \column

damage roll, or force someone to make a saving throw. This is a biological ability, and as such cannot be dispelled or detected with divination magic. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again.

### Elemental Reach *Prerequisite: Shyft* ___ When you take acid, cold, fire, or lightning damage, as a reaction you can expend a use of your blink feature to gain resistance to the triggering damage. ### Feed on Weakness *Prerequisite: Farspawn, 8th level* ___ The Far Realm's alien power over you grows stronger, leaking into the world through you to feed on the destruction of this reality. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Constitution, Wisdom, or Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * When you are not unconscious and a creature other than yourself within 15 feet of you fails a saving throw, you gain temporary hit points equal to your level. ### Fire Dancer *Prerequisite: Celadrin* ___ Your control over flame grows, as does your power to charm. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * You learn the *sacred flame* and *control flames* cantrip. You can cast the *faerie fire* and *continual flames* spells once each with this trait. When you cast a spell using this feature, it requires no material components. You regain the ability to cast a spell this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level or higher. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. * When you cast a spell of 1st-level or higher that involves the creation of any kind of fire, you can attempt to charm a creature within 30 feet of you that can see you as a bonus action. The creature must succeed a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be charmed by you for 1 minute. They can repeat the saving throw if you or your allies do any harm to them. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Focused *Prerequisite: Mechanatrix* ___ As a bonus action, you can become hyperfocused on your goal, ignoring anything that would distract you from it. While in this state, you gain the following effects: \page {{pageNumber,auto}} * Choose two skills you have proficiency in, excluding Insight. You can apply double your proficiency bonus to any checks you make with those skills. * You do not require food or drink, and you can perform light activity instead of sleeping to gain the benefits of a long rest. If you have any levels of Exhaustion, you ignore their effects. * You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. * You have disadvantage on Insight checks, and your passive Perception score is equal to your Wisdom modifier. You remain in this state for an hour or until you are knocked unconscious. Upon leaving this state, you also gain a level of Exhaustion and take 1d8 psychic damage. Alternatively, you can extend the effect for an additional hour, but for every consecutive hour you spend in this state, the psychic damage increases by 1d4. You can use this feature once, after which you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest. ### Ghost Walk *Prerequisite: Shyft, 8th level* ___ As an action, you can spend 3 uses of your *blink* racial trait to remain in the Border Ethereal for longer periods. For the next 10 minutes, you can enter the Ethereal Plane or return to your current position in the plane you originated from at will as an action. All conditions of being in the Ethereal Plane from the *blink* racial trait still apply. Additionally, you can move in any direction. If you move up or down, every foot of Movement costs an extra foot. You can move through objects and creatures you perceive on the plane you originated from. If the effect ends while you are in the Ethereal, you immediately return to the plane you originated from in the spot you currently occupy. If you occupy the same spot as a solid object or creature when this happens, you are immediately shunted to the nearest unoccupied space that you can occupy and take force damage equal to twice the number of feet you are moved. ### Glabrezu Spawn *Prerequisite: Draegloth, 8th level* ___ Your demonic sire was born and thrived within the raging chaotic elements of the Infinite Abyss. You gain the following benefits: * You no longer need to eat or drink, though you may do so for pleasure and retain a strong taste for raw meat. * You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage. * Choose fire, cold, or lightning damage. This effect ends if you drop to 0 hit points. In this state, you can enter and occupy the space of another creature. You have resistance to nonmagical damage, and have advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws. You can pass through small holes, narrow openings, and even mere cracks, though you treat liquids as though they were solid surfaces. You revert to your natural state at the end of the duration. If you start your turn within a space that is smaller than your natural form, you are expelled to the nearest exit, taking 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 5 feet you travel. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Prehensile Tail *Prerequisite: Fey'ri, Tiefling* ___ Your tail is prehensile and can be used much like an extra limb. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * Your tail is a natural weapon that you can use to make unarmed attacks. If you hit with it, you deal damage equal to ld4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the damage normal for an unarmed strike. Choose whether your tail does bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage when you take this feat. * Your tail has a reach of 5 feet, and it can lift a number of pounds equal to 3 x your Strength score. You can use it to lift, drop, hold, push, or pull an object or a creature, open or close a door or a container, or grapple someone. It can't wield weapons or shields or do anything that requires manual precision, such as using tools or magic items or performing the somatic components of a spell. Your tail can also support your weight if you attempt to hang by it. \page {{pageNumber,auto}} ### Revel in Flame *Prerequisite: Tanarukk* ___ Your connection to flame is more intense than most tanarukks. As a reaction when you take fire damage, you can reduce the damage to 0 and instead regain a number of hit points equal to half of the triggering damage. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Shrouded Psyche *Prerequisite: Aasimar (Shimmer)* ___ Both your talent for vanishing and your resistance to attempts to affect your mind increase. You gain the following benefits: * You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. * You are immune to any effect that would allow a creature to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, or sense your emotions. * You cannot be targeted by any divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors. ### Specialized Breeding *Prerequisite: Fey'ri, 8th level* ___ You were bred for purpose, and specific traits reveal themselves as your power grows. You may increase one ability score of your choice by 1, or increase an ability score of your choice by 2 at the cost of reducing your Constitution by 1. For example, you may choose +2 Strength and -1 Constitution, or +1 Dexterity with no penalty. You cannot increase an ability score beyond 20. Additionally, your body physically transforms. Choose one of the following benefits: * You grow wings that give you a fly speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you cannot be wearing heavy armor. * Your teeth become razor-sharp. Your bite is a natural weapon you can use to make unarmed attacks. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d8 + your Strength modifier. The target must also make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be charmed by you until the end of its next turn. * Your skin toughens, grows scales, or becomes chitinous. You gain a +1 bonus to AC. ### Stone Scion *Prerequisite: Vedit (earth), 8th level* ___ Your connection to the stone becomes deeper, allowing you to shape it to your will. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Dexterity or Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * You know the *mold earth* cantrip. You can cast the *earth tremor* and *stone shape* spells once each with \column

this trait, requiring no material components. You regain the ability to cast these spells this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slot you have of the appropriate level or higher. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

### Succubus Spawn *Prerequisite: Fey'ri* ___ Your abilities mimic those of the succubus or incubus who tainted your bloodline. You gain the following benefits: * Increase your Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20. * You learn the *vicious mockery* cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell. * You can add a bonus equal to your Charisma modifier (maximum of +3) to any Charisma, Intelligence, or Wisdom saving throws. ### Trueborn *Prerequisite: Jaezreddin (Zekyl), 8th level* ___ The blood of the dragon is particularly strong in you. You gain the following benefits: * You count as one size larger when calculating carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift. * You gain claws, which are natural weapons that you can use to make unarmed attacks. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to ld6 + your Dexterity modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. * As an action, you can cause massive bat wings with translucent shadowy webbing to spring from your back. For one hour, you have a flying speed of 30 feet. To use this speed, you cannot be wearing medium or heavy armor. You can dismiss these wings early as a bonus action. You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest before you can do so again. ### Unleashed Inferno *Prerequisite: Azerblood* ___ You can use your action to open yourself to the all-consuming flame of the Elemental Plane of Fire. You become a hollow vessel for this flame, causing your hair to ignite, fire to flare from your mouth and eyes, and your metallic flesh to glow red hot. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. For the duration, you shed bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for 20 feet beyond that. At the end of each of your turns, each creature within 10 feet of you takes fire damage equal to your level. However, you are not a true azer and your body is damaged by this channeling. You take fire damage equal to half your level at the same time, and you lose your +1 AC bonus until the effect ends. Fire damage from this feature ignores resistance. You can use this trait once, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can do so again.
