\page # Sentience Awoken are sentient magical weapons that have harnessed their magical essence to gain a humanoid corporeal body. This new physical body is visibly magical and striking. With this form and personhood they are free to live the fullness of life and adventure.

“A cursed spirit lay at the bottom of a hidden well, bound to a magical handaxe, the spirit, close to giving up, reaches with all the force it can muster and a corporeal hand emerges from the axe lifting it from the ruins of its prison.” “A strange creature resembling a shortsword with sight, teeth and tentacles slides out from a cavern, the sunlight catches its orblike eye and gives it a new understanding of the world. It cheers gleefully and sets off towards the closest city, eager to taste the flavors of the surface world.” “The Ancient Mythallar shown with brilliance as its metallic form took the shape of a beautiful young man. A single tear shed from his blazing eyes as he looked over the ruined citadel before him.” ### Mystical Nature Awoken often do not have a history or a past. They are not capable of birth and do not have natural families. Many are created from the chaos of primordial forces, while others are formed from the instillment of divine or arcane magics. Whatever their beginnings, they are usually a force of magic within the multiverse. ### Loyal Companions Though they do not have blood relatives or natural birth, the Awoken are fiercely loyal to their companions, once they respect and trust an ally they treat them like family. In some cases an Awoken can form a special bond with a particular creature and many refer to this bond as attunement. ### Awoken Names Awoken tend to name themselves upon awakening, and generally use simple short syllable words as their names, for example: Rend, Sev, Drex, Carv. ## Awoken Traits Languages: Awoken know common and 1 other language of your choice. They can also speak telepathically to any creature holding their Awoken Weapon.
Ability Score Increase: Your Charisma Score increases by 1.
Age: Awoken do not age, but their magic slowly deteriorates becoming just a slight glimmer after about 1000 years. Some say they never truly die.
Alignment: Awoken tend towards lawful alignment.
Size: Your size is medium.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
``` ``` ### Awoken Weapons Awoken are beings formed from the power of magical weapons. Their weapons have the following characteristics:

When you select this race, choose any simple or martial weapon as your Awoken Weapon. You gain proficency with it.
You can summon your weapon to your hand as a bonus action, and if you move to another plane of existence the weapon will appear within 5 feet of you at your destination.
During a short or long rest you may choose one willing creature or yourself to be attuned to your Awoken Weapon. When an attuned creature deals damage with your Awoken Weapon it is considered magical. This attunement is lost if the creature attunes to too many items, or if you choose another creature to attune to your Awoken weapon.
An attuned creature gains a bonus to damage rolls made with this weapon. The damage type is dependant on your chosen subrace and the extra damage is 1d4 at 4th level, 1d6 at 6th level, 1d8 at 8th level, 1d10 at 10th level, 1d12 at 12th level, 2d8 at 16th level and 2d10 at 20th level.

### Imbue Weapon When you reach 3rd Level, you can cast the Magic Weapon spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a Long Rest. When you reach 5th Level, you can cast Magic Weapon at 4th level once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a Long Rest. Charisma is your Spellcasting Ability for these Spells. ### Mystical Slumber As part of a short rest you may disperse your physical form and everything you are carrying to enter a slumbering state within your Awoken weapon. While in this state you are immune to all effects and your Awoken weapon can not be destroyed unless it is under the effects of antimagic, such as the spell antimagic field. If 1d4 hours passes or if your weapon is destroyed, you are shunted from the weapon to an empty space within 5 ft. ### Conjured Construct Awokenkind use the magic instilled within them to create a construct body. If the new body dies, or is destroyed the magic imbued in the weapon also fades, and the weapon becomes mundane. Conversely, if the weapon is destroyed, the construct body will still exist, but it can no longer use its Mystical Slumber Ability. Spells like Mending can repair a damaged weapon, and greater magic like wish can restore an Awoken weapon completely.

PART 2 | Subrace

## Subraces Four major subraces of Awoken are found among the worlds of D&D: Flash Awoken, Dread Awoken, Arcanic Awoken, and Hoarfrost Awoken. Players must choose one of these subraces. ### Arcanic Awoken Carefully crafted by wizards, artificers and the divine, the Arcanic Awoken has been permanently awakened as a sentient magic item, their physical weapon form is marked with arcane sigils and they appear somewhat ethereal.
Ability Score Increase: Your intelegence score increases by 2.
Order of Arcanum: The bonus damage dealt by your weapon form is force damage.
Sourced Resistance: You have advantage on saving throws to resist being sent to another plane of existence.
### Dread Awoken Akin to monstrosities like Mimics, Dread Awoken have been formed by the chaos energies, and tend towards evil or neutral alignment. They are often characterized by having many eyes, or mouths.
Ability Score Increase: Your strength score increases by 2.
Order of Dread: The bonus damage dealt by your weapon form is acid damage.
Sourced Resistance: You have advantage on saving throws to resist being blinded.

### Flash Awoken Formed from ancient archdruid or archfey magics, the Flash Awoken are instilled with thunder and lightning and have traits to match. Their form sparks with static.
Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Order of Lightning: The bonus damage dealt by your weapon form is lightning damage.
Sourced Resistance: You have advantage on saving throws to resist being charmed.

### Hoarfrost Awoken Formed from the dark entities of the Shadowfell and the undead, Hoarfrost Awoken are the weapons of Liches and Death knights, and have an aura of cold fog that surrounds them.
Ability Score Increase:Your Constitution score increases by 2.
Order of Frost: The bonus damage dealt by your weapon form is cold damage.
Sourced Resistance: You have advantage on saving throws to resist being frightened.
