# Lightsmith

Augment your technique by shaping light to your whim with the Lightsmith option offered to the *Artificer* class in *Tasha's Cauldron of Everything*. This new subclass is available when you reach 3rd level and gain the Artificer Specialist feature.

Armed with their Photon Forge, a Lightsmith challenges the notion that light is immalleable and beyond mortal ken. They capture and harness light, sculpting it as armaments that suit the situation at hand. Though quite versatile, no two Lightsmiths share the same dogma, preferring to express their trademark tools of the trade in ways that both grant them the upper hand and flaunt innovative style. The entire visible spectrum is the canvas to which these craftsfolk excel in building their trusty weapon.

Tool Proficiency

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice. ## Lightsmith Spells Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Lightsmith Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

## Photon Forge At 3rd level, you learn to forge solid light into magical armaments. Using smith's tools, you can take an action to magically create a photon weapon in the form of your choice. You are proficient with it while you wield it and it deals radiant damage instead of its normal type. If you create a photon weapon when you finish a long rest, you can choose to imbue it with one of your artificer infusions. Once you create a photon weapon, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest or until you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher. A photon weapon dissipates when you use a bonus action to do so, whenever you finish a long rest, create another photon weapon, or if you die. When you attack with your photon weapon, you can use your Intelligence modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity modifier, for the attack and damage rolls. ## Lux Augmentation When you choose this specialization at 3rd level, you learn to augment your photon weapon to adapt and reshape at your whim, fueled by special dice called photon dice. ***Augmentations.*** You learn three augmentations of your choice, which are detailed under the "Augmentations" section at this end of this subclass. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can choose to replace one augmentation you know with a different one. Augmentations can only be used with your photon weapon and you can only activate one per attack. Some augmentations can be used in other specific circumstances but require no action to activate. You learn two more augmentations when you reach 9th and 15th level in this class. When you reach a level in this class that grants the Ability Score Improvement feature, you can choose to replace any of your known augmentations with different ones. ***Photon Dice.*** You have six photon dice, which are d4s. A photon die is expended when you use it. You regain all your expended photon dice when you finish a long rest. You gain one more photon die when you reach 9th and 15th level in this class. ## Extra Attack Starting at 5th level, you can attack twice, rather than once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. ## Refraction Technique Beginning at 9th level, you incorporate efficient techniques to improve your photon forge's potency. Whenever you roll a photon die, you can choose to reroll it once before the outcome is determined. You must take the second result. You can use this feature a total number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once), and you must finish a long rest before you can use it again. Additionally, your photon weapon now has the capacity for two infusions for the purposes of your Infuse Items feature. It fulfills all prerequisites and counts as only requiring one attunement slot if the two separate infusions require it. ## Perfect Light By 15th level, you perfect your photon forge and maximize its power. Your photon dice become d6s. Additionally, choose two of your known augmentations to perfect. You can use each of these augmentations once without expending photon dice to activate them. When you finish a long rest, you regain both uses and can choose up to two different known augmentations to perfect

## Augmentations The augmentations are presented in alphabetical order. #### Afterimage When you attack a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to add it to the attack roll. If you still miss, you deal that much radiant damage to the creature via a volatile afterimage. You can use this augmentation before or after making the attack roll, but before any effects of the attack are applied. #### Barrier When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to borrow energy from your weapon and manifest a barrier. You add the photon die to the attack's damage roll, and you gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage you dealt. #### Beam When you attack a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to both add it to the attack roll and extend that attack's reach by 5 feet. #### Bolster When you take the Help action, you can expend one photon die to temporarily reshape your weapon to support your aid. You add the photon die to your ally's next ability check or attack roll. #### Conduit When you cast a spell that deals damage or restores hit points, you can expend one photon die to lend your weapon's energy to the spell. Your photon weapon becomes the spellcasting focus for this spell. You roll the photon die and choose a target affected by the spell, adding the result as bonus damage or bonus hit points regained. #### Corrosion When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to sear it with caustic liquid light. You roll the photon die and reduce the creature's AC by that amount, lasting until the start of your next turn. #### Echo When you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points or score a critical hit on your turn, you can expend one photon die to echo your weapon's strike and make an additional weapon attack. You add the photon die to the attack's damage roll. \page

#### Fetter When you make a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check to initiate or escape a grapple, you can expend one photon die and add it to the ability check as your weapon's transformation aids in the process. #### Flash When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to flash it with distracting light. You roll the photon die and subtract it from the next attack roll the creature makes by the start of your next turn. #### Illuminate Once during your turn, you can expend one photon die to cause your weapon to shine. You roll the photon die and multiply it by 5. The result is the radius sphere of bright light that sheds from your weapon, additionally shedding dim light for the same amount. Completely covering the weapon with an opaque object blocks the light. Your weapon shines for 1 hour. While your weapon shines, you can choose to replace one attack with an attempt to dispel an area of magical darkness created by a spell, within your weapon's reach or range. If you do so, roll an Intelligence check. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a success, the spell that created the darkness is dispelled. Regardless of whether you succeed or fail, your weapon no longer shines. #### Lightspeed During your turn, you can expend one photon die to boost your step. You roll the photon die and multiply it by 5, gaining the result as bonus movement speed until the end of your turn. While you have this bonus movement, you can move through a hostile creature's space, as long as you don't end your movement there. #### Prominence When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to flare your weapon's light in an arc surrounding your target. You add the photon die to the attack's damage roll, and deal the result as radiant damage to creatures of your choice that you can see within 5 feet of your target. #### Radiation When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to expose it with your weapon's unstable energy. You add the photon die to the attack's damage roll, and force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a fail, it is poisoned until the start of your next turn. #### Reforge Once during your turn, you can expend one photon die to quickly reshape your weapon into another form of your choice, lasting until the start of your next turn. You add the photon die to your next weapon attack roll you make while your weapon is reshaped. ``` ``` #### Reverberation When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to surround it with vibrating light. You roll the photon die and subtract it from the next saving throw the creature makes by the end of your next turn. #### Shroud If you were to be hit by an attack, you can use your reaction and expend one photon die to briefly turn your weapon into a protective shroud of light. You roll the photon die and add it to your AC until the start of your next turn. During this time, if any attack misses you, the attacker takes radiant damage equal to a photon die's roll. #### Spark When you attack a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to shed sparks of light on it whether you hit or miss. You can use this augmentation before or after making the attack roll, but before any effects of the attack are applied. You roll the photon die, adding the result to the next attack roll made against the creature by the end of your next turn. #### Transmute When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to convert your weapon's kinetic force. You add the photon die to the attack's damage roll, and change its damage type to one of the following types: bludgeoning, slashing, piercing, acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder. #### Viscosity When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one photon die to coat it with dense liquid light. You roll the photon die and multiply it by 5, subtracting the result from your target's speed until the start of your next turn.

# Starlight Magic

Lux Asterum Phari, or "Wayfinder's Starlight," is a relatively new school of magic that utilizes the energy of the cosmos, stars, space, and prisms to manifest into various effects. Stored in vibrant, colorful crystals, this malleable, liquid light can be sculpted and flash-forged to adapt to any situation, taking the form of prismatic orbs, chromatic mirages, protective halos, twisted light, and much more. These effects range from manifesting the will of the cosmos to harry your foes and shield your allies, bolstering magic with starlight, calling upon the stars for guidance, shaping prismatic holograms to augment your abilities, and much, *much* more. These spells were designed to produce a myriad of different and *unique mechanical* effects! ## Caster Lists Though originally invented by my gnome artificer Opus Loregit, these spells form a malleable category of magic whose lore can be altered to suit any setting or world in the D&D multiverse. Many spells are written with a certain flair for prismatic holograms and sculpting solid starlight, but as with anything in D&D, you can reflavor these as you wish! Every spell in this homebrew may befit any spellcaster whose magic derives or draws from the energy of the stars. Thus, they have **no class restrictions**. Starlight magic is meant to be introduced as specific and flavorful additions to any character or game that deals with the cosmos. For example, are you a *Circle of the Stars Druid* deriving power from the constellations? An *Oath of the Watchers Paladin* sworn to protect your world by using the planet's latent magic? Perhaps an *Artificer* who stumbled across the discovery of a new cosmic god and became vastly inspired by his deific magic (oops, that's Opus). Perhaps your game features a clandestine NPC organization connected to harnessing the stars' light and some of these spells may give them a memorable edge in roleplay or combat. ## Material Component All these spells have at least one material component of
*a crystal imbued with starlight*. Since this isn't costly, it can be subsituted with a spellcasting focus or a component pouch. The main reason behind this inclusion was to reinforce the concept of starlight magic being esoteric in nature, invoked only by those with celestial acuity and familiarity with the cosmos. Only those attuned to these astral bonds can utilize these crystals to their full effect. If this does not fit your game, this material component can be removed without much consequence. ## Max Spell Level The maximum spell level amongst Lux Asterum Phari's selection is 6th (with the rare 7th). Mainly due to the desire of wanting to create spells that broaden the scope for the most common tiers of play. Games typically drop in frequency after 11th level, and it's my hope that starlight magic most benefits lower levels. ## Introducing These Spells Because of Lux Asterum Phari's versatility, these homebrew spells can be added in your games in a plethora of ways. **Before** these spells are introduced, however, communicate with your players and/or DM if this homebrew is an appropriate addition. As always, the DM has the final say in whether homebrew should be involved in their game. The DM may decide these spells are available at character creation for certain characters, or whether they are to be discovered during the game, such as in libraries, observatories, ancient texts in forgotten caches, or other reliquaries of astronomical knowledge. The DM should also determine if there _are_ any class restrictions for any homebrew spell introduced. When a DM adds spells to their game, prepared casters such as Clerics, Druids, Artificers, and Paladins require particular attention. These casters have access to their entire spell list for their class. Because of this, the DM should gauge whether any of these spells would upset the balance they're looking to achieve for their game, or if any of these would be overwhelming for a player presented with many options. ## Living Homebrew As a new discovery, starlight magic is **dynamic**. Spells can update and be changed based on feedback, and new discoveries can be made in the form of new spells! Continue to explore and experiment with them in all sorts of ways! Make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects, and you can cause brilliant starlight to envelop the creature. Until the end of your next turn, the next melee attack that deals damage to the creature deals an additional 1d6 radiant damage, and the spell ends. Tenebrous Torment

🔍 *Enchantment cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 30 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Instantaneous As you clutch the crystal, you invert all its latent energy to cause a dark energy vacuum to abrade the light around a creature you can see within range, exploiting its worst vulnerability. The target must make a saving throw of its worst ability score, choosing if it has multiple of the same number. On a failed save, the target takes 1d4 cold damage. The DM may decide if an ability score is an invalid vulnerability for a target, such as Charisma for a construct or Intelligence for a beast. This spell's damage increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4), and 17th level (4d4).

### Revitalizing Glow 🔍 *Transmutation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** Touch - **Components:** V, S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Instantaneous As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to infuse a creature you touch with an incandescent glimmer and cause it to invigorate its natural healing. If the creature has at least one hit point, it can spend and roll one of its unspent Hit Dice and regain a number of hit points equal to the roll. Afterwards, the creature sheds warm, dim light in a 5-foot radius from its mended wounds for 1 hour. Once a creature benefits from this spell, it cannot do so again until it finishes a long rest. This spell has no effect on undead or constructs. The spell can affect a single creature multiple times when you reach certain levels. At 5th level, this spell can affect a single creature twice before it finishes a long rest. This increases to three times at 11th level and four times at 17th level. ### Sparkle 🔍 *Conjuration cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 30 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Instantaneous As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to release a shower of sparkles in a 5-foot cube within range. Creatures in the area when the spell is cast must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 radiant damage. Until the start of your next turn, creatures in the area are outlined with a faint light and cannot benefit from being invisible nor take the Hide action. This spell's area increases by 5 feet when you reach 5th level (10-foot cube), 11th level (15-foot cube), and 17th level (20-foot cube). ### Red Sprite 🔍 *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 60 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Instantaneous As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to discharge a web of vermillion lightning above a creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 lightning damage. If the creature is forced to make a saving throw to maintain concentration, it has disadvantage on the save. Make a melee spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d6 necrotic damage. After this spell damages the target, if its remaining hit points are less than the amount of damage it just took from this spell, it takes additional necrotic damage equal to that amount. If not, it instead takes an additional 1d4 necrotic damage. This spell's damage increases by 1d6 and 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d6 and 2d4), 11th level (3d6 and 3d4), and 17th level (4d6 and 4d4).

### Perturb 🔍 *Transmutation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 bonus action - **Range:** 30 feet - **Components:** S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Instantaneous As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to slightly nudge the center of gravity of one willing creature Large-sized or smaller within range. You push it 5 feet to an unoccupied space. You can cause this spell's effect to happen 1 more time on the same creature when you reach 5th level (2 times), 11th level (3 times), and 17th level (4 times).

Perturb

Remember, forced movement does *not* provoke Opportunity Attacks and can break grapples!

Due to how the cantrip's scaling is worded ("you can cause this spell's effect to happen 1 more time on the same creature"), you would *not* push a creature more than 5 ft. at any given time.
(i.e. at 5th level, casting **Perturb** lets you push a creature 5 ft. two times, *not*
10 ft. at once)

You cast bright light within a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. The first time you take damage after casting this spell, the starlight flashes and sparks outward and the spell ends. If the entity that damaged you is within range of the light, it must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 2d8 radiant damage and is blinded until the start of your next turn. Aperture Magic

Even though you cast **Aperture Magic**
(a leveled spell) on your turn with your reaction, the restriction of not being able to cast multiple leveled spells a turn only applies with bonus action spells.

Which means you cannot use this in conjunction with spells like *Spiritual Weapon* or *Mass Healing Word*.

Although you maximize dice, this cannot cause spells like *Chaos Bolt* to leap beyond the first additional time or *[Flickerburn](#flickerburn)* to trigger compounding damage explosions.

There are a couple ways to resolve how a mimicked spell is 25% weaker:

Roll the dice as normal, then calculate 75% of the final result.
(i.e. for *Guiding Bolt*, I rolled 20 on 4d6. 75% of 20 is 15.)

If the above slows down gameplay too much, you can choose to ballpark how many dice you would roll if a spell is only at 75% potency.

Flickerburn

**Flickerburn** makes any damage the creature takes use exploding dice! For example, if I cast *Lightning Bolt* at a coated enemy, I would normally roll 8d6. Let's say I dealt 31 damage and I rolled a 6 on three of the d6s. My casting of *Flickerburn* was at 2nd level, so at max I would add a bonus of 2d6 force damage to my *Lightning Bolt*.

Each creature within that line must make a Constitution saving throw or take 3d6 cold damage and be affected by its unstable gravity. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and doesn't suffer any additional effects, pushing itself to an unoccupied space on either side of the line. The unstable nebular line lasts until the start of your next turn. As written in the spell, the lending creature can allow as many or as little Hit Dice to be borrowed from them. Use this to limit the spell's

Tips & Notes
Retrograde

There's a couple considerations to think about for **Retrograde**'s third option.

When attempting to recover multiple uses of a multi-use resource, such as a Sorcerer expending 3 *Sorcery Points* or a Monk using 2 *Ki Points*, the number of resources cannot exceed the spell's level.

The number of resources must all be of the same type; you cannot choose to regain 1 *Rage* and 1 *Battle Master superiority die*.

When used on NPCs, the spell shouldn't be able to recover any abilities that can potentially recharge at the start of their turn. It can, however, recover abilities and traits that have more than 1 use per
rest or day.

### Bound by Fate 🔍 *3rd-level enchantment* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 30 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (fine quality red-colored thread worth at least 25 gp, which the spell consumes, and a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Concentration, up to 1 hour As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to braid an ethereal red thread of fate that bonds two creatures within range and entwines their destiny. An unwilling creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw to resist this spell. If only one creature is affected by this spell, the spell has no effect. While connected by this visible thread, whenever either creature makes any die roll related to an activity the other creature can see, the other creature makes this roll in its stead. For the rest of this spell's description, treat Creature A as "the initiating creature making the die roll" and Creature B as "the other creature". Creature B is considered to be the one making the roll, even if Creature A is performing the activity that required the roll. If the roll adds any modifier, such as for an ability check, saving throw, attack roll, or some damage rolls, Creature B uses Creature A's modifier. If Creature A is performing an activity with advantage or disadvantage, Creature B makes the roll with such. Creature B can manipulate the rolls it makes on behalf of Creature A in any way available to it. The thread can be broken by either creature by choosing to make and succeed on a Charisma saving throw at the end of any of their turns. If the spell ends on one creature or if either bonded creature dies, the spell ends on both. ``` ```

Tips & Notes
Bound by Fate

When Creature B makes a roll in Creature A's stead, Creature B can manipulate the roll in a couple ways. Here's a few examples:

Creature A is attempting to escape a grapple. Creature B has advantage on Strength checks thanks to their Barbarian *Rage*, which applies to the Athletics check they would make for Creature A.

Creature A is attacking an ally. Creature B is suffering from *Bane* cast by an enemy mage earlier in the combat. Therefore, Creature B must roll Creature A's attack with a d4 penalty.

Creature A has hit an enemy with their greatsword. Creature B has *Fighting Style - Great Weapon Fighting*. When Creature B rolls the damage dice for Creature A's attack, Creature B can reroll 1s and 2s.

Creature A is attempting to *Counterspell* an enemy mage's 5th level spell. Creature B makes the ability check for Creature A, but fails with a 13. Thankfully, Creature B has the *Lucky* feat and can expend 1 luck point to retry the check.

As a note for DMs, take heed when introducing **Bound by Fate** in your game. It can be very easy to discern the damage dice used by your enemies as well as their modifiers (and thus, potentially figure out their ability scores). If you prefer to keep this information secret and lower metagaming, consider not allowing this spell in your game.

Equator

Here's a few examples of what **Equator**'s last sentence would negate:

*Lucky*. The feat allows you to spend luck points to roll an additional d20.

*Elven Accuracy*. The feat allows you to reroll one d20 for an attack roll you have advantage on using four of the six ability scores.

*Silvery Barbs*. The spell forces a successful d20 roll to be rerolled and use the lower result.

*Fortune's Favor*. The spell effectively grants a luck point from the *Lucky* feat.

*Reliable Talent*. This Rogue feature sets a minimum of 10 on d20 rolls they are proficient in.

Halfling Luck. A halfling's *Lucky* trait lets them reroll a 1 on a d20. The *Bountiful Luck* halfling feat lets them extend this to an ally. The *Second Chance* halfling feat allows a halfling to force a successful attack

Cauterizing Corona

The cleansing part of **Cauterizing Corona** occurs *after* the main damage part. If an enemy is concentrating on a harmful spell that you or your allies failed to resist, they must maintain concentration when damaged by this spell. Should they succeed, *then* the cleansing part can afford you or your allies a second chance in recovering from the condition.

Though rare, some non-grappling negative effects don't have a saving throw attached to them, such as being part of an attack. In that instance, DMs might want to set a saving throw and a DC for them. Here are some examples:

Fire Elementals light creatures aflame when they attack. Dodging fire is often associated with Dexterity and we can see other elementals of that CR use DC 13 or 14 for their saving throws.

Some cold attacks reduce movement speed upon hit, such as the *Ray of Frost* spell, a Water Elemental Myrmidon's attacks, or a Bheur Hag's frost shards. Resisting extreme cold is often associated with Constitution and we can look at the creature's other saving throw DCs to borrow from, such as a
Bheur Hag's spell save DC of 14.

Alternatively, if this spell was cast during combat, the DM can elect to randomly roll a d4 to determine how many rounds will pass before it occurs. When the effect occurs, the DM decides the specifics of it and how impactful it may be depending on the level of the spell slot used. The chosen space must be on a surface or liquid that can support your hologram without it having to squeeze. The hologram is nearly indistinguishable from the real you, is the same size as you, is corporeal as you are, and can mimic your movements perfectly. Physical interaction with your hologram reveals it to be an illusion constructed of solid starlight, and a creature can use its action to examine the hologram with a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC to discern the duplicate from the real you. Due to the nature of you twisting space to appear in two locations simultaneously, you are considered to exist in both spaces. If any game effect were to target or otherwise affect your hologram, it instead affects your game statistics since the hologram is merely an extension of you. However, you can only be affected by any game effect once (such as by a *Fireball* overlapping both you and your hologram). Game effects that would independently target or change your hologram's position in the world do not simultaneously affect you (for example, only your hologram is pushed back by a *Thunderwave*, but you still take the damage; and only your hologram is knocked prone from a Shove attack, and melee attacks against you would only have advantage if they target your hologram). Finally, you can target your own hologram with a game effect as if it were another creature. As long as you can see your hologram, you can spend any amount of your own movement to direct its movement within your own capabilities. This movement provokes Opportunity Attacks, since the hologram is also considered you. Once on each of your turns, if the hologram is within 120 feet of you, you can teleport and magically swap locations (no action required). Afterwards, you can magically swap again at the cost of your bonus action. You can choose to make these swaps happen indistinguishably with no indication of the change. Additionally, you can take reactions as if you were in the hologram's space as long as you can see the triggering effect. When the spell ends, your hologram disappears into sparkles of starlight and any objects on its person that isn't on you drops to its space. \page

The creature must make a Dexterity saving throw or it takes 4d4 acid damage and its AC is reduced by 3. This does not affect any objects or armor the creature is wearing nor its Dexterity bonus to AC. - ***Object Worn / Carried by Creature***. The creature wearing or carrying the object must make a Dexterity saving throw. If the targeted object is armor, on a failed save its AC is reduced by 3. ***Double Time.*** The spell causes time in the area to pass at double the rate. Whenever a creature starts its turn in the area, its speed is doubled and it has advantage on Dexterity saving throws, both lasting until the start of its next turn. At the start of the round, every creature within the area has its initiative doubled for that round. Additionally, whenever another effect with a duration is in the spell's area, one extra round passes for it when a new round starts. ***Half Time.*** The spell causes time in the area to pass at half the rate. While the spell lasts, the map displays your current location as a prismatic point of light. If you are outside the map's boundaries when you cast the spell, the spell fails. Similarly, the spell ends if you ever leave the map's boundaries during the duration. While the spell lasts, you can stick the lapis lazuli pin anywhere on the map. As long as the pin is stuck in the map, a cosmic thread of light marks the most direct, physical route between your current location and the location marked by the pin. This route is conceived using only the information available on the map. When you place the pin, you can mentally choose what information the route should take into account. For example, you could choose to have it prioritize roads, avoid mountains, and avoid water if you are traveling on land. Alternatively, you could have it avoid land if you are traveling by sea. The route suggested by the spell is only as good as the map you’re using. If the map is wrong or overly simplistic, the route could end up being wrong as well. Tips & Notes
Horoscope

**Horoscope** has the potential to be a really fun spell but can easily be mishandled. A player isn't forced to show their prediction to the DM upon casting the spell, encouraging exciting interactions by way of keeping the DM on their toes. But this doesn't fit all tables' playstyles. A DM might be concerned about the fairness of this as it's possible for a player to sneakily alter their prediction. Before introducing this spell, communicate with your group to determine if it's right for your game and if there should be any additional restrictions. Making a fair prediction might look like writing a physical note and placing it at the center of the table, or posting a hidden message in the virtual tabletop's chat to reveal later.

Thrillseekers might enjoy an optional variant for this spell: allowing it to be cast with a very specific prediction for increased damage, at the DM's discretion. For example, instead of choosing Strike, Strategize, or Sorcery, one might predict "the blue dragon will fly to our Barbarian, successfully bite them, but miss their first claw attack. Then, the dragon will opt to use its second and last claw attack
against our Cleric, successfully
hitting them."

### Eclipse 🔍 *6th-level conjuration* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 minute - **Range:** 150 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (a sunstone-inlaid sundial worth at least 500 gp, which the spell consumes, and a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** 1 hour

As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to forge an umbral disc to slide over the celestial body in the
sky, causing an eclipse visible from any point within 60-foot-radius, 150-foot-high cylinder. The disc bestrews power within the area, depending on the type of eclipse.

***Solar Eclipse***. If you cast this spell outdoors during the day, the umbral disc obfuscates the sun. Any sunlight in the area becomes dim light. When you cast it, the spell imbues any number of creatures you designate with the ability to draw from its solar protection. The spell's magic possesses
a pool of 14d4+40 total points. Whenever an imbued creature would be damaged within the area, it can choose to use its reaction to draw from this pool and immediately gain temporary hit points equal to any of the remaining amount left in the pool, up to a maximum of the total amount of damage it would receive. These temporary hit points are reduced from the pool as a solar barrier shields the creature. If multiple friendly creatures would be simultaneously damaged, they must choose how to share the remaining amount of points left in the pool.

***Lunar Eclipse***. If you cast this spell outdoors at night, the umbral disc casts a shadow over the moon(s), tinting it blood red. Any darkness in the area is filled with dim light. When you cast it, the spell imbues any number of creatures you designate with lunar ferocity. Imbued creatures gain the following benefits for the duration of the spell:

Once per turn, an imbued creature's speed increases by 5 feet each time it successfully hits with an attack, capping at a bonus of 20 feet.
Imbued creatures within 5 feet of each other cannot be frightened nor charmed.
An imbued creature has advantage on an attack roll if another imbued creature is within 5 feet of its target and isn't incapacitated. When an imbued creature successfully hits in this way, it deals an additional 1d6 damage to the target.

***No Eclipse / Indoors***. If you cast this spell indoors or while there are no celestial bodies present in the sky, the umbral disc is weaker and instead projects tenuous shimmering energy in the area. When you cast it, the spell imbues any number of creatures you designate with astral power. Imbued creatures gain the following benefits for the duration of the spell:

Imbued creatures gain temporary hit points equal to your spellcasting ability modifier at the start of each of their turns.
Imbued creatures gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls.

### Convergence 🔍 *6th-level transmutation* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 150 feet - **Components:** V,S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Instantaneous As you clutch the crystal, you unleash its latent energy to break the gravitational limits around two targets you can see within range and bend their tidal forces to converge and collide. Both targets must make a Strength saving throw. If a target is one size larger than the other, the larger target has advantage on the save. A target at least two sizes larger than the other automatically succeeds on the save. If only one target fails the save, it is pulled in a straight line to collide with the other. If both targets fail, both are pulled in a straight line to the midway point towards each other and collide. This spell fails if both targets succeed on the save. For calculating the results of this spell, treat the word Distance as the number of times a target travels 10 feet before it collides (i.e. 40 ft. equals 4). ``` ```

When a target collides, it and whatever it collided with takes Distance d6 bludgeoning damage. Additionally, a creature who fails the saving throw is also knocked prone. Targets can either collide with each other or something that intercepts their travel path, such as a stable structure or a creature at least one size larger than it. A creature within the travel path the same size or smaller as a target can make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid collision. When a collision occurs, each creature within a sphere centered on that point must then make a Constitution saving throw. The sphere's radius is 5 feet multiplied by Distance. On a failed save, a creature takes Distance d10 force damage as gravity bends and distorts. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage.

Entropy

🔍 *7th-level transmutation* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 30 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Concentration, up to 1 minute As you clutch the crystal, you invert all its latent energy to rapidly magnify entropic forces in a 10-foot-radius sphere you can see within range, briefly causing fundamental laws of reality to stutter and crack with chaotic dark energy. For the duration of the spell within the area, any action can also be used as a bonus action, and any bonus action can also be used as an action. If a creature uses the same type of action twice (for example, the Attack action) during the same turn, it immediately takes 2d10 force damage. Additionally, creatures within the area can cast multiple leveled spells during the same turn. Only one of these spells can be higher than 5th level. ``` ```

Event Horizon

🔍 *7th-level transmutation* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 60 feet - **Components:** V, S, M (an onyx bead touched by the light of a collapsed star, worth at least 500 gp, which the spell consumes, and a crystal imbued with starlight) - **Duration:** Special As you clutch the crystal, you invert all its latent energy to conjure a 15-foot radius vantablack dome where spacetime fractures for the briefest of moments. If the dome's boundary cuts through a creature's space when it appears, the creature can make a Dexterity saving throw to move to the nearest unoccupied space outside of the dome, otherwise it is shunted to the nearest unoccupied space inside (if it is small enough to fit). If initiative was in play, it pauses when you cast this spell. Creatures within the dome then must roll initiative for a special new round of combat. After this special initiative is determined, all affected creatures must play out their turns in that order. Then the spell ends, the dome vanishes, and the original initiative resumes if it was in play. Nothing short of a Wish spell can affect the area within the dome from outside and vice versa; no effect or action can cross the boundary. The dome imparts total cover to creatures within and vice versa. Additionally, if a creature moves out of the dome, the remainder of their special turn is forfeit.

Tips & Notes
Event Horizon

Remember, 6 seconds pass for everything within the dome due to the special round being played out! Any ongoing timed effects may be desynchronized as a result if its
origin was from outside the dome.
