# Star Charter Martial Archetype The importance of measurements and geometry is never understated when it comes to those studying the stars. By channeling the supportive, predictive, and positional aspects of the astral sea through these key skills, star charters are able to mark battlefields with their own constellations. *As a reminder to those playing a star charter, a polygon has no curved sides and is an enclosed shape.* ## Subclass Features ### Starfinder ***3rd-level Star Charter feature***
You gain proficiency with two skills of your choice from the following list: Arcana, History, Nature, Religion, or Survival. In addition, you can forgo dealing damage with a weapon attack to instead have the target gain the benefits of the Help action. If this Help action aids it in attacking a creature successfully, the attack deals an extra 1d8 radiant damage. ### Zodiac Forge ***3rd-level Star Charter feature***
Whenever you hit a creature or object with a weapon attack, you can mark it until a number of rounds equal to 1 + your proficiency bonus passes or until you choose to end it early (no action required). While marked, it sheds dim light in a 5-foot radius and you know its exact location while it's within 30 feet of you. Additionally, you can use your bonus action while you have at least three targets marked to create a constellation by drawing a polygon using your marked targets as vertices. Another star charter may allow you to use targets they've marked as vertices. Once you create the constellation, you impose one of the following effects on all creatures within that shape— including the marked targets: * **Supernova.** It takes radiant damage equal to your fighter level or twice as much if it's marked. * **Polaris.** It has advantage on one ability check or attack roll it makes before the end of your next turn. Once you use this bonus action, each mark placed on a target included in the shape immediately ends early. ### Interstellar Guide ***7th-level Star Charter feature***
You can do the following benefits: * **Eridanus.** Once on each of your turns while your speed isn't 0, you can move up to half your speed towards a marked creature you can see (no action required). * **Realign.** While your speed isn't 0 on your turn, you can force a marked creature within 30 feet of you to move as you wish—provided it can in the first place—through reducing your speed by the same amount until the end of your next turn. If the target is unwilling, doing so for it also requires you to either use your bonus action or forgo an attack made with the Attack action. ### Augured Path ***10th-level Star Charter feature***
You have advantage on any saving throw made against marked targets you can see within 30 feet of you. ### Binary Stars ***15th-level Star Charter feature***
You can let a creature you marked with Zodiac Forge use its bonus action to switch places with you or another creature you marked, provided its target is willing and the two are within 30 feet of each other on the same plane of existence. In addition, you can swap places with a marked creature within 30 feet of you as a reaction to being hit. When you do, both you and your swapped target take half the damage instead and the target's mark ends early. ### Everlasting Light ***18th-level Star Charter feature***
Using the bonus action feature of Zodiac Forge no longer ends a mark early.

You gain the following benefits: - If your Help action aids a target in attacking a creature successfully, the attack deals an extra 1d6 damage. - If your Help action aids a target with an ability check using a skill or tool you have proficiency with, it also gains a bonus to the roll equal to half your proficiency bonus. - Before a creature you aid with the Help action makes a saving throw, it can forgo your help to instead gain a bonus to the roll equal to half your proficiency bonus.

## Subclass Options & Rules If you need help building a character or you wish to have more character options for the Subclass, you can find it here. ### Optional Features Optional and Replacement features available to the subclass. **Constellation Limits.** When drawing a constellation with Zodiac Forge, you can only draw lines between marked targets that are within 60 feet of each other. **Expanded Styles.** Whenever a Fighter gains an Ability Score Improvement from the fighter class, it can forgo it to instead gain one additional Fighting Style option. **Weaponless Mark.** You can use Zodiac Forge with any attack instead of just weapon attacks. ### Fighting Styles A collection of useful fighting style options for the fighter. **Silvered Fighting.** You gain a +1 bonus to your damage rolls with silvered weapons and can change your damage type with it to force or radiant damage. * Before you make a weapon attack, you can spend 1sp to have the weapon gain the silvered property until the start of your next turn. ## Subclass Implementation If you are unsure on how to implement the Subclass into your game world, here are some suggestions on how to do so. ### Creating Nomadic Groups Masses of star charters often group up together as their penchant for teamwork, their ability to read the sky, and their proficiency in traversing the world helps them coordinate wherever they go. Some of these groups may act as escorts, some may act as a group fo horde specialists, and some may act to predict the group's prosperity. ### Quests To Be The Subclass A collection or quests to become the subclass. **Astral Augury.** Following a falling star, you find an astral being reaching out towards you to survive. Should you take it, you're filled with terrible visions of how the world may end in the near future as well as each event that could cause it. **Starlight Puzzle.** In an ancient ruins permeating with magic, several locked doors are patterned with various constellations and mirrors. At noon and at midnight, a beam of light bounces off one of the mirrors and has the chance of opening the door if enough arcane luminance is built up before hand. ### Quests Involving The Subclass A collection of quests related to the subclass. **Worried Guide.** For a search and rescue mission, the local star charter who was with the missing person before they were kidnapped is tasked to show the party the scene of the crime. After the group arrives and investigates out the location, the star charter asks if they can come with the group and help. **Strategic Pirates.** A massive crew of star charters are constantly terrorizing the kingdom's strategical checkpoints. Some believe this is an international conspiracy for one country to invade while others believe the pirates are trying to goad the royals into doing something for them.

Magic Item: Eclipse Weapon

*Rare magic weapon (any), worth 5000 gp*
A target hit by this weapon takes an additional 1d4 radiant damage and 1d4 necrotic damage. The target also emits bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet for 1 minute. This light is sunlight or moonlight (the wielder's choice).

\page # Astra Also known as the starmen, these minor elementals spontaneously crawl out from stars on the way to becoming a black hole within the next few centuries. Remnants of theirs star's energy is seen through their white eyes peering from their vanta black bodies, the minor chromatic aberration that follows them, and their ability to channel said energy into magical miracles. ### Racial Traits Astra uses the following features and traits. **Ability Score Increase.** When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. You can't raise any of your scores above 20. It is recommended to increase Constitution and Wisdom. **Age.** An astra's normal lifespan is directly tied to the star they formed from. Once their star implodes into a black hole, the astra's life ends. **Creature Type.** You are an Elemental. **Size.** You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race. **Speed.** Your walking speed is 30 feet. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of either red or blue (choose when you select this race). **Nova Silhouette.** Whenever you deal damage with an attack or spell, you can change one damage type used in it to radiant damage. **Reach for the Stars.** You know the *Dancing Lights* cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the *Guiding Bolt* spell with this trait. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the *Moonbeam* spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast *Guiding Bolt* or *Moonbeam* with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. * Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race). **Stellar Body.** Your starborn form grants you resistance to radiant damage and makes you immune to disease. You also don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe. **Languages.** Your character can speak, read, and write Common and either Primordial or one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of languages to choose from. The DM is free to modify that list for a campaign.

Racial Magic

You attune yourself to the same arcane force that other races find natural. You gain the following benefits: - Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20. - Choose a race with a trait that lets you cast spells (e.g. drow magic, duergar magic, fairy magic, firbolg magic, infernal legacy, serpentine spellcasting, reach to the blaze, etc). You gain one of those traits of your choice. Your spellcasting ability for these spells is the ability increased by this feat.
