The most notable among these authors is Tirvar Havenspell, renowned Githzerai archmage, teacher, and Candlekeep sage, who singlehandedly gathered more than half the writings here. In this guide you will find countless dungeons and dragons 5th edition homebrew, from spells to dungeon master tools. These are created by HomebrewMindFlayer, and can be used by all. PART I | Introduction

\page # Player Options The players characters are the most important characters in the game. Because of this, the options players have when creating a character are very important. This section contains many character building options, to expand upon those presented in the Player's Handbook. Here are the options featured in this chapter: - Subclasses for every dungeons and dragons 5th edition class. - Spells for spellcasters to cast. - Feats for anyone who uses that optional rule. - Races and sub-races. - More items for characters to obtain. ## Subclasses This section provides a variety of new subclass options for each of the classes in the Player’s Handbook. Each class offers a character-defining choice at 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level that unlocks a series of special features, not available to the class as a whole. That choice is called a subclass. Each class has a collective term that describes its subclasses; in the fighter, for instance, the subclasses are called martial archetypes, and in the paladin, they’re sacred oaths. ### Path of the Marksmen **Base Class: Barbarian** ___ Barbarians who follow the Path of the Marksmen use their rage to fuel feats of superhuman accuracy. They hone their skills with the bow or crossbow until they are true marksmen. Rage is a focusing tool for them, to improve their marksmanship skills. The path of the marksmen focuses, not on the graceful and dexterous maneuvers usually used with ranged weapons, but on using brute strength and rage to fuel their sharpshooting. #### Primal Marksmanship *3rd level Path of the Marksmen feature* You learn the fundamentals of the path of the marksmen. You can use your strength instead of your dexterity for ranged weapons. You can also use your reckless attack and brutal critical features with ranged weapons, in addition to being able to use them with melee weapons. Additionally, while raging, you can add the rage damage bonus to attack rolls made with ranged weapons. #### Devastating Shots *3rd level Path of the Marksmen feature* You learn to perform powerful devastating shots to disable or damage your opponents. ##### Devastating Shots You learn two devastating shots of your choice, which are detailed below. Many devastating shots enhance an attack in some way. Each use of a devastating shot must be declared before the attack roll is made. You can use only one devastating shot per attack. You learn an additional devastating shot of your choice at 7th, 10th, 15th, and 18th level. Each time you learn a new devastating shot, you can also replace one devastating shot you know with a different one. ##### Grit You gain a number of grit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1), which are regained after a long rest. At level 10, your number of grit points increases to twice your constitution modifier. ##### Saving Throws Some of your devastating shots require your targets to make a saving throw to resist the devastating shot’s effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows: **Devastating Shot save DC** = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity (your choice) modifier #### Raging Focus *6th level Path of the Marksmen feature* You can use your rage to focus on an enemy and strike them down with ease. When you begin raging, you can expend a grit point to choose a creature you can see within 500 feet of yourself. This creature is marked for the duration of your rage. You gain the following benefits against the marked creature: - If you deal damage to the marked creature with a ranged weapon, you do not have to take damage for the rage to continue. - Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged weapon attack rolls, if the target if the marked creature. - The marked creature has a disadvantage on any Dexterity (stealth) checks made to hide from you. - When you hit the marked creature with a ranged weapon attack, you deal an additional 1d4 damage on a hit. If the marked creature dies while you are raging, you can use your bonus action to move the mark to another creature within 500 feet of yourself. #### Shaprshooter *10th level Path of the Marksmen feature* You become a skilled sharpshooter. You gain a special aim action. When you take this action, you gain a +5 bonus to your next attack roll made before the end of your next turn. Additionally, if you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack after using your aim action, you regain a grit point. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining use after a long rest.

\page #### Unerring Strike *14th level Path of the Marksmen feature* Your accuracy when raging is truly unerring. While raging, when you make take the attack on your turn to attack with a ranged weapon, you can replace all the attacks you would normally make to fire with unerring accuracy. When you do this, you make a ranged attack. This attack automatically scores a critical hit, and instead of rolling damage for the attack, you can do the maximum possible damage. You can do this only once between long rests. #### Devastating Shots Here are the devastating shot options for the path of the marksmen. ##### Armor Piercing Strike When you make a ranged attack, you can expend a grit points to make the arrow punch through armor. When you do this, the target's armor class for the attack is as if it were not wearing armor. ##### Barrage When you take the attack action on your turn to attack with a ranged weapon, you can expend a grit point to let out a barrage. When you do this, you make twice as many attacks as you normally could. All attack rolls made on the turn must be made at a disadvantage. ##### Crippling Shot When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can spend a grit to force the creature to make a constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature's speed is reduced by 10 feet and the creature has a disadvantage on attack rolls. These effects last until the start of your next turn. A creature who fails the save by 5 or more is also *incapacitated* until the start of your next turn. ##### Deadeye Shot When you make a ranged weapon attack against a creature, you can expend one grit point to gain advantage on the attack roll. You score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on this attack. ##### Disarming Shot When you make a ranged weapon attack against a creature, you can expend one grit point to attempt to shoot an object from their hands. On a hit, the creature suffers normal damage and must succeed on a Strength saving throw or drop 1 held object of your choice and have that object be pushed 10 feet away from you. ##### Forceful Shot When you make a ranged weapon attack against a creature, you can expend one grit point to attempt to force them back. On a hit, the creature suffers normal damage plus an additional 1d4 bludgeoning damage, and must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 15 feet away from you. ##### Menacing Attack When making a ranged weapon attack, you can expend one grit point to attempt to frighten the target. On a hit, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is *frightened* of you until the end of your next turn. ##### Piercing Shot When you make a ranged weapon attack, you can expend a grit point to cause your arrow to pierce through multiple enemies. When you use this option, you don’t make an attack roll for the attack. Instead, the arrow shoots forward in a line, which is 1 foot wide and 30 feet long, before disappearing. Line does not extend through full cover. Each creature in that line must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes damage as if it were hit by the arrow. On a successful save, a target takes half as much damage. ### Collage of Onomancy **Base Class: Bard** ___ Bards who join the college of onomancy learn the power of true names, and can use it to control reality. #### Bonus Proficiencies *3rd level College of Onomancy feature* You learn a language of your choice and gain proficiency in calligrapher's supplies. #### True Names *3rd level College of Onomancy feature* You begin to learn the true names of creatures and objects. When you spend at least 24 hours with a creature, you can make a DC 16 intelligence check. On a success, you learn the creature's true name. As a bonus action on your turn, you can choose a creature within 60 feet of yourself and expend a bardic inspiration. The creature must succeed a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or have their true name revealed to you. #### Words of Power *3rd level College of Onomancy feature* You can use true names to invoke power. When you make a charisma check to interact with a creature you know the true name of, you can roll with advantage. Additionally, you learn words of power called Resonants, which allow you to tailor your spells through the use of a target’s true name. **Resonants Known.** When you gain this feature, you learn two Resonants of your choice, which are detailed in the “Resonant Options” section. Each time you gain a level in this class, you can replace one resonant you know with a different one. **Using a Resonant.** You can use one Resonant when you cast a bard spell with a spell slot and speak the true name of one creature targeted by the spell. Speaking the name is part of casting the spell. You can use Resonants a number of times equal to twice your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

\page #### Fateful Naming *6th level Collage of Onomancy feature* You can use a true name to affect a creature's luck. When a creature within 30 of yourself who's true name you know rolls for initiative or makes an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you can expend a use of your words of power feature to cause them to add or subtract your charisma modifier. You can do this after you see the roll, but before you know the results. #### Name Extraction *10th level Collage of Onomancy feature* You become adept at learning creature's true names. You learn your own true name. In addition, when you affect a creature with a bard spell, you can force the creature to choose, either you learn it's true name or it takes psychic damage equal to 1d10 + half your bard level. #### Relentless Naming *14th level Collage of Onomancy feature* Your power over true names becomes nearly unlimited. Creatures who make a saving throw against your True names feature roll with a disadvantage. In addition, the damage for your name extraction feature increases to 2d10 + half your bard level. You learn 2 more Resonates of your choice. Lastly, when you damage a creature who you know the true name of, you can choose to ignore ressistances and immunities to the damage type you dealt. This can be done twice, regaining use after a short rest. #### Resonants These are the resonant options for the college of onomancy. ##### Absorption When you cast a spell that deals damage to the named target, you gain 3d6 temporary hit points. The number of temporary hit points you gain increases by 1d6 when you reach 10th level (4d6) and 14th level (5d6) in this class. ##### Devastation If the spell requires the named creature to make a saving throw, that creature has disadvantage on the first save it makes against the spell. ##### Dissolution The first time the named creature takes damage from the spell, that creature takes an extra 2d8 force damage. The extra force damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 10th level (3d8) and 14th level (4d8) in this class. ##### Nullification If the named target is affected by any other spells, you know what those spells are, and you can attempt to end one of your choices by succeeding on an Charisma check with a DC equal to 10 + the level of the chosen spell. ##### Puppetry The first time the named creature takes damage from the spell, you can knock the creature *prone* or move it up to 10 feet, either directly toward you or away from you. ``` ``` ##### Sympathy If the named creature is within range of the spell, you can target the creature with the spell even if you can’t see the creature or it has total cover against the spell. ### Spirit Domain **Base Class: Cleric** ___ The Spirit Domain guides the spirits of the ethereal plane, helping them and gaining power from them. They learn from spirits, as spirits learn from them. They become somewhere between a spirit and a human, challenging the powers of the ethereal plane. Deities of the spirit domain include Sehanine Moonbow, Kiaransalee, Osiris, Velsharoon, the ancestral spirits of the Undying Court, Hades, and Leira. The followers of these deities travel both the marital and ethereal plane, seeking spirits to guide, and learn from. #### Domain Spells *1st level Spirit Domain feature* You gain domain spells at the cleric levels listed in the Grave Domain Spells table. See the Divine Domain class feature for how domain spells work. ##### Spirit Domain Spells | Cleric Level | Spells | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | *Bane, Inflict Wounds* | | 3rd | *Inviliility, Silence* | | 5th | *Animate Dead, Blink* | | 7th | *Phantasmal Killer, Hallucinatory Terrain* | | 9th | *Wall of Force, Raise Dead* | #### Guiding Whispers *1st level Spirit Domain feature* You can reach out to spirits to guide you and others. You learn the *guidance* cantrip, which doesn’t count against the number of cleric cantrips you know. For you, it has a range of 60 feet when you cast it. Additionally, after you cast the *guidance* cantrip, you can use your bonus action to teleport to an unoccupied space, up to 10 feet away. you can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Ethereal Sight *1st level Spirit Domain feature* You can see 30 feet into the Ethereal plane. #### Channel Divinity: Flicker *2nd level Spirit Domain feature* As a reaction when you are targeted by an attack, you can use your channel divinity to flicker into the ethereal plane to avoid the attack. When you do this, you teleport into the ethereal plane. At the start of your next turn, you teleport back into the material plane.

\page #### Spirit Session *6th level Spirit Domain feature* You can channel spirits to gain insights into magic. You can conduct an hour-long ritual channeling spirits (which can be done during a short or long rest). You can conduct the ritual with a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus (including yourself). At the end of the ritual, you temporarily learn one spell of your choice from any class. The spell you choose must be of a level equal to the number of creatures that conducted the ritual or less, the spell must be of a level you can cast, and it must be in the school of illusion or necromancy. The chosen spell counts as a cleric spell for you but doesn’t count against the number of cleric spells you know. Once you perform the ritual, you can’t do so again until you start a long rest, and you know the chosen spell until you start a long rest. #### Potent Spellcasting *8th level Spirit Domain feature* You add your Wisdom modifier to the damage you deal with any cleric cantrip. #### Spirit Step *17th level Spirit Domain feature* You learn to step through the Ethereal Plane. As a bonus action, you can cast the etherealness spell with this feature, without expending a spell slot or material components. When you cast the spell in this way, the duration is 1 round. ### Circle of the Elements **Base Class: Druid** ___ Druids who follow the circle of the elements realize the fundamental aspect of the elements, seeing them as the basis of nature. They have a strong connection to the elements, using the powers granted by this connection to protect nature. They channel either the power of fire, water, air or earth, empowering them. #### Circle Spells *2nd level Circle of the Elements feature* Your mystical connection to the elements infuses you with the ability to cast certain spells. At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to circle spells connected to the element you focus on. Choose that element — fire, water, earth, or air — and consult the associated list of spells, in addition to the Circle Spells list. When you finish a long rest, you can choose to change your element. Once you gain access to a circle spell, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. When you use your wildshape, you can turn into an elemental instead of a beast, following the same rules as with turning into a beast. Additionally, you can instead use the following table for determining the challenge rating of monsters you can turn into when turning into an elemental. | Level | Max CR | Limitations | Example | |:----:|:----:|:----:|:----:| | 2nd | 1/2 | Cannot use flying or swimming speed | *Ice Mephit* | | 4th | 1 | Cannot use flying speed | *Fire Snake* | | 8th | 3 | - | *Water Weird* | #### Gift of the Elements *2nd level Circle of the Elements feature* When you enter this circle, the elements themselves mend you. When you cast a spell on the circle spells table, of the element you chose, you can gain temporary hit points equal to twice the level of the spell, in addition to the effects of the spell. Additionally, you learn a cantrip based on the element you chose in the circle spells feature. *mold earth* for earth, *gust* for air, *fire bolt* for fire, and *shape water* for water. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Elemental Body *6th level Circle of the Elements feature* Your body reflects the elements. You gain the bonus based on the element you chose at level 2. Additionally, you learn primordial. ##### Air you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. Additionally, you gain resistance to your choice of lightning or thunder damage.

\page ##### Earth You gain a tremorsense of 120 feet. Additionally, you gain immunity to the poisoned condition, and resistance to poison damage. ##### Fire When you make a melee weapon attack or an unarmed strike, you deal an additional 1d8 fire damage. Additionally, you gain resistance to fire damage. As a bonus action, you can make yourself shed bright light for 30 feet, plus dim light for an additional 30 feet. This lasts until you dismiss it as a bonus action. ##### Water You gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed and can breathe underwater. Additionally, you gain resistance to your choice of non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage. #### Primordial Transformation *10th level Circle of the Elements feature* You can expend two uses of Wild Shape at the same time to transform into an *air elemental*, an *earth elemental*, a *fire elemental*, or a *water elemental*. #### Master of All The Elements *14th level Circle of the Elements feature* You become a master of all four elements. You gain the benefits of all four elements for your Elemental Body feature. ### Gatewarden **Base Class: Fighter** ___ Gatewardens specialize in protecting and defending. They possess ancient magic to help them in this goal. Superior to even the most well-trained bodyguard, Gatewardens are valued highly by Kings and emperors - anyone who can pay their immense fees. Gatewardens also are masters of guarding areas and objects. The signature weapon of a gatewarden in a spear or polearm due to it's long reach, but gatewardens can be very versatile, using all kinds of melee weapons and even ranged weapons. #### Defend *3rd level Gatewarden feature* You gain the ability to defend others in combat. As a bonus action on each of your turns you can choose a creature within reach of a melee weapon you are wielding. Until the start of your next turn that creature gains a bonus to it's armor class and any saving throws it makes equal to half your proficiency bonus. #### Gatewarden Magic *3rd level Gatewarden feature* You can call upon your ancient magic. You learn a cantrip of your choice, which can be from any spell list. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells. Additionally, you gain proficiency in the *arcana* skill. If you are already proficient in it, you instead gain a skill proficiency of your choice. #### Arcane Deflection *7th level Gatewarden feature* You can use your ancient magic to forcefully repulse creatures from the target of your defense. When a creature comes within 10 feet of the creature or object affected by your defend, you can, as a reaction, force that creature to take force damage equal to your fighter level and be pushed 10 feet away from the creature or object you are defending. You can use this feature once, regaining use after a long rest. #### Guardian's Gate *10th level Gatewarden feature* You can create a gate in which your abilities to defend the area are heightened. You can spend up to an hour performing a ritual in an area, which can be done during a period of downtime, such as a short or long rest. This area can be a cube up to 40 feet across or a line that is up to 75 feet long and 10 feet wide. When a creature enters your gate, it must make a wisdom saving throw, with DC equal 8 + your proficiency bonus + your constitution modifier. On a failure, you are alerted to the creature's presence. Additionally, when you deal damage to a creature in your gate, you can force the creature to make a wisdom saving throw, with the same DC as before. On a failure, they are teleported to an unoccupied space of your choice outside but within 10 feet of the gate, and take 2d6 force damage. You can only have one gate at a time. When you create a new gate, any already existing gates you made vanish. #### Parry *15th level Gatewarden feature* You gain a number of d6s equal to twice your proficiency bonus. When a creature within reach of a melee weapon you are wielding takes damage, you can use your reaction and expend a number of these dice up to your proficiency bonus of these d6s to roll them. Reduce the damage the creature takes by the roll of the d6s. You regain spent dice during a long rest. #### Defender's Might *18th level Gatewarden feature* You become a terror to behold to your enemies. When a creature makes an attack roll inside of your gate, you can choose for them to have a disadvantage on it. Additionally, if a creature is effect by your defend feature, you and that creature gains a bonus to the damage of their first attack each turn equal to your constitution modifier. You learn the *wall of force* spell, and can cast it without expending a spell slot or material components. You can only do this once between long rests, and to do this must expend a use of your indomitable feature. ### Way of the Flowing Mists **Base Class: Monk** ___ The way of the flowing mists focuses on the flowing grace of mist, overcoming all obstacles in its path. They look to the mists as their guide and follow it's example.

\page #### Form of the Mist *1st level Way of the Flowing Mists feature* You can take the form of them mists. As a bonus action on your turn, you can activate your mist form. While in your mist form, you gain resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, your walking speed is reduced to 0, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed, you can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there, and can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. You are also *incapacitated* while in your mist form. The mist form lasts for a minute, or until you end it early (no action required by you). You can enter your mist form a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier, regaining spent uses after a long rest. You can also spend 2 ki points to use the feature when you are out of uses. #### Flowing Grace *1st level Way of the Flowing Mists feature* When you take the dash action on your turn, you can ignore difficult terrain. In addition, when you use your Patient Defense, you gain resistance to a damage type of your choice, which lasts until the start of your next turn. #### Blinding Strike *1st level Way of the Flowing Mists feature* You can channel the power of the mists to fog enemy's vision. When you damage a creature with your unarmed strike, you can force the creature to make a wisdom saving throw against your ki save DC. On a failed save, the creature is *blinded* until the start of your next turn. You can do this once, regaining use after a long rest. At level 11, you can instead do it twice. #### Mist Screen *6th level Way of the Flowing Mists feature* You can summon a screen of mist around yourself. As an action you can choose a point within 60 feet of yourself. A 20-foot sphere centered on that point is filled with magical fog for 10 minutes. This cloud if *heavily obscured*, and is dispersed by a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour). In addition, you can see through this mist. You can use this feature twice, regaining spent uses after a short rest. #### Arcane Mists *11th level Way of the Arcane Mists feature* You gain the ability to channel the mystical power of the mist. When you use your mist screen feature, you can choose a creature in it's area. That creature is affected by either soothing mists, or fog of lost souls. **Soothing Mists.** The affected creature regains a number of hit points equal to three rolls of your martial arts die. In addition, the creature is cured of any effects causing it to be *frightened*. **Fog of Lost Souls.** The affected creature must make a charisma saving throw against your ki save DC. On a failed save, the creature is affected by short term madness for a round. #### Mist Shaping *17th level Way of the Flowing Mists feature* You can shape the mists to you will. When you use your ki in any way, you can, as part of the same action, attempt to shape the mist around you. You choose any object of your choice that is a 20 foot cube or smaller, and make a wisdom check with DC equal to 15, plus an additional 3 for each time you have used this feature since your last long rest. You have an advantage on this check if there is mist where you are creating the object. On a success, the object appears in an unoccupied point of your choice within 60 feet of yourself. The object lasts for an hour, before disappearing. You can also use your bonus action to end it early. The object uses any game statistics the normal object would use, with the following changes: - It has hp equal to half your hp, and armor class equal to your armor class. It also has immunity to poison, psychic, and nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. - If the object would deal damage, such as a *longsword*, it deals 3d10 force damage no matter what damage it would normally do. ### Oath of the Underdark **Base Class:** Paladin ___ Paladins who follow the Oath of the Underdark use the powers of the underdark. They are empowered by the powers of the darkness, the powers of chaos, and the powers of toxins. Although often evil, paladins of the oath of the underdark can be neutral, or rarely even good.

##### Tenets of the Underdark A paladin who assumes the Oath of the Underdark swears to the ideals of the underdark. The following are examples of these ideals. **Monsters.** The original denizens of the Underdark are our enemy. As such, they shall be eradicated. **Fortitude.** The under-surface world is a cruel place; only those with much strength survive it. **Fear.** Fear is the adrenaline of the Underdark. You must channel it.

\page #### Channel Divinity *3rd-level Oath of the Underdark feature* You gain the following Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works. **Shroud of Darkness.** As an action you can use your channel divinity to create a shroud of darkness around yourself. When you do this, a 5-foot sphere centered on yourself is filled with magical darkness. You can see through it as if you had darkvision. Additionally, creatures who comes into the darkness for the first time or end their turn there they must succeed on a constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or take necrotic damage equal to your proficiency bonus. This darkness lasts for a minute, or until you use your bonus action to end it. **Horrid Plague.** When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can use your channel divinity to infect them with a horrid plague from the underdark. The target must succeed on a constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or become poisoned for a minute. The infected creature takes 1d6 poison damage at the start of each of it's turns. They can repeat the save at the end of each of their turn's, ending the effect on a success. The poison damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6) in this class. #### Aura of Withering *7th-level Oath of the Underdark feature* You emit an aura of withering while aren’t incapacitated. Creature's of your choice within 10 feet of you have a disadvantage on constitution saving throws. In addition, creature's of your choice who fail a constitution saving throw in this radius take 1d4 necrotic damage in addition to any effects from failing the save. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. #### Underdark Adaptations *15th level Oath of the Underdark feature* Your body becomes hardened to the conditions on the underdark. You gain resistance to poison damage, immunity to the *poisoned* condition, and gain a burrowing speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, you can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet. #### Subterranean Transformation *20th level Oath of the Underdark feature* As an action you can transform the ground around you to something like the underdark. When you do this, a 100-foot sphere centered on you is filled with magical darkness. A creature with darkvision can't see through it, can non-magical light only illuminates it to dim light. Creatures who start their turn in this radius must make a constitution saving throw, taking necrotic or poison damage (your choice) equal to half your level on a failed save. In addition, the radius is filled with subterranean passages. The area is filled with non-magical stone, except for tunnels connecting each creature in the area, which have a radius of 5 feet. The effect lasts for a minute, and requires your concentration, as if you were concentrating on a spell. After you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest. ### Vigilante **Base Class: Rogue** ___ Vigilante go by many names: Renegade, vigilante, rebel, freedom fighter. Whatever the name, vigilante take doing good into their own hands, doing it in their own, often illegal way. They lead Rebellions against corrupt governments or rob bandits. They often lead other like minded individuals in the pursuit of their goals. Vigilante believe themselves above the law, and act accordingly. #### Roguish Charm *3rd level Vigilante feature* When you choose this archetype you can treat any roll of 7 or lower on a *persuasion* or *performance* check as an 8. #### Inspire *3rd level Vigilante feature* You can inspire fellow revolutionaries. As a bonus action, you can choose a number of creatures within 60 feet of you up to your charisma modifier. These creatures gain an advantage on attack rolls and Dexterity (*stealth*) checks made before the start of your next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Rallying Presence *9th level Vigilante feature* Your presence on the battlefield rallies your allies. When a friendly creature starts it's turn within 60 feet of you, you can cause it to gain a number of temporary hit points equal to a roll of your sneak attack dice. You can do this once, regaining use after a long rest. #### Renegade's Cause *13th level Vigilante feature* Your belief in your cause is so powerful that you cannot be dissuaded from it. You gain an advantage on saving throws against being *frightened* or *charmed*. #### True Leader *17th level Vigilante feature* You become a true master of leading from the front. You gain an additional 2 uses of your inspire feature. Additionally, a creature under the effects of your inspire feature that hit a creature with a melee attack automatically scores a critical hit. ### Shadow Dancer **Base Class: Rogue** ___ Shadow Dancers follow the way of the raven queen, using shadow magic to their advantage. They specialize in the spiked chain, and are masters in wielding it with the shadow magics.

\page #### Pact Magic *3rd level Shadow Dancer feature* Your connection to the raven queen augments your roguish expertise with the ability to cast spells. See chapter 10 of the PHB for the general rules of spellcasting and chapter 11 of the Player’s Handbook for the Warlock spell list. ##### Cantrips You learn two cantrips of your choice from the warlock spell list. You learn an additional warlock cantrip of your choice at 10th level. ##### Spell Slots The Shadow Dancer Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have. The table also shows what the level of those slots are. All of your spell slots are the same level. To cast one of your warlock spells of 1st level or higher, you must expend a spell slot. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a short or long rest. For example, when you are 8th level, you have two 2nd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell *witch bolt*, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 2nd-level spell. ##### Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher At 3rd level, you know two 1st-level spells of your choice from the warlock spell list, one of which must be from either the necromancy or illusion schools of magic. The Spells Known column of the Shadow Dancer table shows when you learn more warlock spells of your choice of 1st level and higher. Each of these spells must be of the necromancy or illusion schools of magic. A spell you choose must be of a level no higher than what’s shown in the table’s Slot Level column for your level. When you reach 11th level, for example, you learn a new warlock spell, which can be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level. The spell you learn at 7th, 13th, and 19th level can be from any school of magic. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the warlock spells you know with another spell of your choice from the warlock spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be a necromancy or illusion spell, unless you’re replacing the spell you gained at 1st, 7th, 13th, or 19th level from any school of magic. ##### Spellcasting Ability Charisma is your spellcasting ability for your warlock spells, so you use your Charisma whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a warlock spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one. **Spell save DC** = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier **Spell attack modifier** = your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier

#### Shadow Dancer Weapon Training *3rd level Shadow Dancer feature* You gain proficiency in the Spiked Chain. Additionally, when you hit a creature with your spiked chain and deal your sneak attack damage, the target has a disadvantage on the saving throw against being knocked prone. When you deal sneak attack damage with a spiked chain, you can choose to deal necrotic damage instead of any damage type you would have done. Lastly, the spiked chain has the finesse for you. #### Shadow Jump *9th level Shadow Dancer feature* You are a master of teleportation through the shadows. As a bonus action on your turn, and can teleport a number of feet up to twice your movement speed, to and unoccupied space you can see. Both the space you teleport from and the space you teleport to must be in dim light or darkness. When you do this, your speed is reduced to 0 for the turn. In addition, you gain an advantage on stealth checks for the round. When you use this bonus action, you can form a spiked chain weaved from the shadowfell, as part of the same action. This spiked chain uses the same game statistics as a normal spiked chain, but counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks, and deals an additional 1d6 damage on a hit. Creatures knocked prone by this spiked chain have their speed reduced to 0 until the end of their next turn. The spiked chain lasts for a minute, and requires your concentration (as if concentrating on a spell).

\page You can use this feature once, regaining use after a short rest. #### Cloak of Illusions *13th level Shadow Dancer feature* When you cast an illusion spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose to cloak yourself in the illusion instead of casting it normally. When you do this, you are changed to look like the illusion you would have created, instead of the illusion appearing. For instance, if you cast *major image* to create an illusion of a table, you could use this feature to make yourself look like a table. This effect lasts as long as the illusion spell would have. This requires your concentration, as if concentrating on a spell. When you move, the illusion moves with you. You obey the normal rules for the illusion spell while cloaked in this way. You can do this a number of times equal to your charisma modifier, regaining use after a long rest. #### Song of the Raven Queen *17th level Shadow Dancer feature* You can channel the power of the raven queen through yourself, using the true power of the shadow dancer. As an action you can begin the song of the raven queen. This lasts for a minute. While the song of the raven queen lasts, you gain the following benefits: - You gain a flying speed equal to twice your walking speed. - After using your shadow jump feature, your turn partially incorporeal until the start of your next turn, giving you resistance to all damage. - When a creature comes within 60 feet of you for the first time or starts their turn there, the creature must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature becomes frightened until the start of it's next turn. You can only do this once, regaining use after a long rest. While in the shadowfell, you can instead use this feature twice. ### Earthen Magic **Base Class: Sorcerer** ___ Sorcerers of Earthen Magic are infused with the power of the elemental plane of earth. #### Geomancy Spells *1st level Earthen Magic feature* You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Geomancy Spells table. In addition, when you make a constitution saving throw, you can choose to add half your charisma modifier (round down) to the roll. You can do this twice, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Shell of Rock *1st level Earthen Magic feature* You can call upon your earthen magic as a defense mechanism in times of need. As a reaction when you are targeted by an attack, you can create a shell of stone around yourself. It lasts for a minute, or until you use your action to end it early. While you have the earthen shell around yourself, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from non-magical attacks, gain a +4 bonus to your armor class, and are both incapacitated and have your speed reduced to 0. These benefits apply to the attack triggering the shell. You can only do this when you have less then half your maximum health remaining, and only once between long rests. #### Earth Shaper *6th level Earthen Magic feature* You have the ability to shape the earth around yourself. When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can expend a sorcery point to shape the earth in the following ways. **Stone Aegis.** A shield of stone forms in front of you, protecting you from attacks. You are considered behind half cover while it lasts, and can reduce any damage you would take by your charisma modifier. The effect lasts for a minute, and ends early if you take damage. **Hardened Fists.** A coating of super-hard earth forms around your fists. You can use your charisma score for unarmed strikes instead of strength, your unarmed strikes count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks, and your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 bludgeoning damage instead of the normal damage. This effect lasts for a minute. **Fissure.** A massive gash in the ground opens up in a 30 line that is 5 feet wide, emanating from you. The fissure is 10 feet deep. Any creatures on the fissure when it opens up must succeed on a dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or fall in. The fissure remains until the start of your next turn, before closing up. Any creatures in the fissure when it closes are harmlessly pushed to the surface. **Move Earth.** Choose a point within 60 feet of you. A 5 foot cube of earth centered on the point you chose is moved up to 60 feet, to a point of your choice. Creatures in the way of the moving must succeed a strength saving throw against your spell save DC or be pushed with the cube.

\page #### Earthen Transformation *14th level Earthen Magic feature* You gain the ability to transform yourself into an earthen being. you learn the *polymorph* spell. You can cast it without expending a spell slot. When you do this, you transform into an *earth elemental*, instead of a beast of a challenge rating equal to or lower than your level. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Earth's Embrace *18th level Earthen Magic feature* You can utterly destroy your foes, causing the earth itself to swallow them. As an action you can choose a point within 120 feet of yourself. All creatures in a 10 feet cube centered on that point must make a strength saving throw against your sorcerer spell save DC. A creature takes 1d12 + your sorcerer level bludgeoning damage and is pulled into the earth on a failed save, or takes half as much damage and is not pulled on a successful one. While in the earth, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the ground, and it takes 3d12 bludgeoning damage at the start of each of your turns. The earth around the creature has an AC of 18 and hit points equal to your hit points divided by 3 (round down). A creature can attack the ground as if it were a creature. If a creature reduces the ground to 0 hp, it is harmlessly expelled. Once you use this action, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend 7 sorcery points to use it again. ### The Shadow **Base Class: Warlock** ___ Your patron is a powerful shadow, darkness incarnate. Your patron is an elusive master of deception, stealth, and magic. Shadow's are rarely seen, and rarer still interacted with. They stay hidden, not letting anyone know of their location. Warlocks of The Shadow gain some of their patrons traits, and become a master of stealth. They become wielders of shadow magic, unseen and undetected. #### Expanded Spell List *1st level The Shadow feature* The Shadow lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you. ##### Shadow Expanded Spells | Spell Level | Spells | |:----:|:-------------| | 1 | *Disguise Self, Bane* | | 2 | *Silence, Pass Without Trace* | | 3 | *Bestow Curse, Blink* | | 4 | *Greater Invisibility, Phantasmal Killer* | | 5 | *Passwall, Seeming* | #### Shadow Jump *1st level The Shadow feature* You can jump between shadows like your patron. As a bonus action on each of your turns, you can teleport a number of feet equal to 10 times your proficiency bonus, to an unoccupied space you can see. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Living Shadow *1st level The Shadow feature* You become a living shadow, somewhere between humanoid and your patron. You gain a number of shadow weaving points equal to your level. Spent shadow weaving points are regained when you finish a long rest. As an action, you can transform into your shadow from, granting you the following benefits, Which last a minute, you until you dismiss it as a bonus action: - You can take the hide action as a bonus action while in dim light or darkness. - You gain a darkvision of 120 ft. This increases to unlimited range at level 14. - You are considered proficient in stealth. Additionally, you can add twice your proficiency bonus instead of the normal once to any checks made stealth. To do this, you must expend a shadow weaving point. #### Adept Illusionist *6th level The Shadow feature* You become as master of crafting illusions. You learn the *minor illusion* cantrip. It counts a warlock spell for you, but does not against the number of warlock cantrips you can learn. Additionally, you can shape illusions out of shadows themselves. When you cast an illusion spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose to weave it out of shadows instead of expending a spell slot. To do this, you must expend a number of shadow weaving points equal twice to the level at which you cast the spell. The cost of shadow points is reduced by 1 to a minimum of 0 if you are in dim light or darkness. #### Dread Ambusher *10th level The Shadow feature* You are dreaded for your power of surprise. When you make an attack roll against a creature that is surprised, you can have an advantage on the attack roll. Additionally, when you hit a creature with an attack roll or damage a creature with a spell, you can force the creature to make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC, becoming frightened of you for a minute on a failed save. At the end of each creature frightened of you in this way's turns, they can repeat the save, ending the effect on a success. You can do this once between short rests.

\page #### Flicker *6th level The Shadow feature* You can flicker in and out of existence like your shadowy patron. When you are targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to teleport into the ethereal plane. At the start of your next turn, you teleport back into the material plane. You can use this feature once, regaining use after a long rest. If you have expended your use of this feature, you can expend 3 shadow points to use it again. #### Master of the Shadowfell *14th level The Shadow feature* When you reach level 14, you become a master of weaving shadows. When a creature becomes frightened of you, you can expend a number of shadow weaving points up to your charisma modifier. The creature takes 1d8 psychic damage, plus an additional 1d8 psychic damage for every shadow weaving point expended. Additionally, when you use your shadow jump feature, you can cast an illusion spell as part of the same bonus action or become invisible for a round. To do this, you must expend a shadow weaving point. Your darkvision granted to you by being in your shadow form's range increases to unlimited. ### School of Arcane Discoveries the School of Arcane Discovery focuses on discovering the secrets of magic. Wizards of the school of Arcane Discovery usually use magic, not as a weapon to use in combat, but a mystical force to be explored and a treasure trove of secrets. They use spells as a tool to help them in this quest. #### Arcane Fundamentals *2nd level School of Arcane Discoveries feature* You gain proficiency in the *arcana* skill. If you were already proficient in it, you instead gain proficiency in a different skill of your choice. When you make an ability check using arcana, you can add twice your proficiency bonus instead of once. Additionally, you have an advantage on any arcana checks made to learn how spells of other magical effects work. #### Spell Detection *2nd level School of Arcane Discoveries feature* You have learned enough about spells to detect them. As an action, you can sense any spells within 60 feet of you. You learn the location of any spells, magic items, and other magical effects. This could include a wall of force spell, someone under the effects of a disguise self spell, an immovable rod, or a trap designed using magic. You do not learn the specific spell, magical effect, or magic item however. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining use after a long rest. #### Spell Manipulation *6th level School of Arcane Discoveries feature* Your knowledge of the inner workings of spells becomes enough that you can tamper with the spells. When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can do one of the following spell manipulations. **Change Damage Type.** When you cast a spell that deals damage, you can change the damage type to one the following damage types of your choice: fire, cold, acid, poison, lightning, bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, necrotic, radiant, or psychic. **Change Material Components.** When you cast a spell that requires material components, you can change the material components to any other object, worth the same gp value. **Change Duration.** When you cast a spell that has a duration greater than instantaneous and requires concentration, you can cast it without requiring concentration. If you do this, the duration is until the end of your next turn. You can use each of these options once, regaining use after a long rest. #### Magical Shift *10th level School of Arcane Discoveries feature* You learn to shift your magical powers. As a bonus action, you can expend any number of spell slots. When you do this regain any number of spell slots, who's combined level adds up the combined level of spell slots you expended. For instance, you could expend a 2nd level spell slot and a 3rd level spell slot to regain a 1st level spell slot and a 4th level spell slot. You can do this once,regaining use after a short rest. Additionally, you can treat any roll of 7 or lower as an 8 for any intelligence bases ability checks. #### Arcane Replication *14th level School of Arcane Discoveries feature* You become a master of replicating the arcane. You can spend an hour studying a magic item of rare or more common rarity. When you finish, you can write down the magic item in your spellbook. As an action once between long rests, you can erase a magic item written down in your spellbook. When you do this, an arcane replication of the magic item appears. This replica works the exact same way as the normal magic item would, but it disappears after 10 minutes. You can never have more magic items written down in your spellbook than an amount equal to twice your intelligence modifier. ## Feats Leveling up in a class is the main way a character evolves during a campaign. Some DMs also allow the use of feats to customize a character. Feats are an optional rule in chapter 6, “Customization Options,” of the Player’s Handbook. The DM decides whether they’re used and may also decide that some feats are available in a campaign and others aren’t. This section adds more feats to the ones already presented in the Player's Handbook. Some of these are specific to a particular race or class, while others are available to all characters.

\page #### Soul Ripper **Prerequisite:** warlock you have become accustomed to using your patron's power to curse and even destroy souls. When you cast a warlock spell that affects a creature, and only affects one creature, you can force the affected creature to make a charisma or wisdom (your choice) saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes necrotic damage equal to your charisma modifier + the level of the spell you cast (cantrips count as 0). if this damage reduces a creature to 0 hp, it's soul is destroyed and it dies instantly you can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining spent uses after a long rest. #### Song of Recovery **Prerequisite:** Song of rest feature; charisma of 17 or higher Your song of rest becomes so potent that you can bring creatures who hear it to near full strength. When you use your song of rest feature, you can expend a bardic inspiration. When you do, you choose a creature who was affected by your song of rest. That creature regains additional hit points equal to the roll of your bardic inspiration die, and also either regains an expended spell slot or regains use of an ability that normally recharges after a long rest. If you choose a spell slot, the regained spell slot must be of 5th level or lower. You can do this once, regaining use after a long rest. #### Inspirational Charm **Prerequisite:** Countercharm feature; Charisma of 19 or higher You have become a master of performing countercharms. You gain the following benefits: - The radius of your countercharm is increased to 40 feet. - Instead of activating your countercharm feature as an action, it is always active. - When a creature affected by your countercharm becomes frightened or charmed, you can use your reaction and expend a bardic inspiration die to end the effect. The creature also gains temporary hit points equal to the roll of the die. #### Raging Strength **Prerequisite:** Barbarian Your strength is so great that you can wield heavy weapons with ease. You ignore the *two-handed* and *heavy* properties of melee weapons with which you are proficient. #### Drow Priest **Prerequisite:** drow Because of your connection to Lolth, you gain you the following benefits: - You learn the *touch of the underdark* cantrip. - You learn your choice of the *inflict wounds* spell or the *web* spell. Once between long rests, you can cast your chosen spell at 2nd level, without expending a spell slot. the spell's spellcasting ability is charisma. - As an action, you can summon a *Quasit* in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you. it lasts for a minute, until it is reduced to 0 hp, or you dismiss it as a bonus action. The creature is an ally to you and your companions. In combat, the creature shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don’t issue any, it takes the *Dodge* action and uses its move to avoid danger. once you use this action, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest. #### Chains of Avernus **Prerequisite:** Tiefling You have become accustomed to calling upon your dread, infernal powers. As an action, you can choose a creature within 30 feet of you. That creature must make a wisdom saving throw with DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your charisma modifier. On a failed save, infernal chains grow around the creature, trapping it. The creature is restrained while chained in this way. At the end of each of it's turns, the creature repeats the save. On a success, the effect ends. On a failure, the creature takes fire damage equal to half your level (round down). You can use this feature once, regaining use after a long rest. #### Dunomancy Adept You're practiced at casting dunomancy spells. you gain the following benefits: - increase your choice of your Intelligence, Charisma, or Wisdom by 1. - You learn one 2nd level spell and one 1st-level spell of your choice. The spells must have the dunomancy tag. You can cast each of these spells without expending a spell slot. Once you cast either of these spells in this way, you can’t cast that spell in this way again until you finish a short rest. You can also cast these spells using spell slots you have of the appropriate level. The spells’ spellcasting ability is the ability increased by this feat. - If you have the Spellcasting or the Pact Magic class feature, all spells with the dunomancy tag are added to the spell list of your spellcasting class. #### Fight Dirty: you don't fight fair, no, you fight dirty. as a bonus action, you can do one of the following things: **Throw Sand or Dirt.** choose a creature within 10 feet of you. it must make a dexterity saving throw. on a failed save, the creature is *blinded* until the start of your next turn. **Trip.** choose a creature within 5 feet of you that is no more than one size large than you. it is knocked *prone*. **Distract.** choose a creature within 50 feet of you. it must make a wisdom saving throw. on a failed save, it has a disadvantage on attack rolls as well as *perception* checks until the start of your next turn. you can use these options each once between short rests. if an option requires a saving throw, the DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier.

\page #### Staff Master **Prerequisite:** dexterity or strength of 13 or higher you have become an expert at wielding quarterstaves, granting you the following benefits: - while wielding a quarterstaff in 2 hands, the damage dice for you is 1d10, instead of 1d8. - when you take the attack action on your turn to attack with a quarterstaff you are holding in one hand, you can make an unarmed strike as part of the same action. - when a creature you can see hits you with a melee attack while you are holding a quarterstaff, you can use your reaction to increase your armor class by 1, or 2 instead if you are wielding it with 2 hands. ## Spells Many of the character classes in the Player’s Handbook harness magic in the form of spells. This chapter provides new spells for those classes, as well as for spellcasting monsters. The Dungeon Master decides which of these spells are available in a campaign and how they can be learned. For example, a DM might decide that some of the spells are freely available, that others are unobtainable, and that a handful can be found only after a special quest, perhaps discovered in a long-lost tome of magic. Wizard spells, in particular, can be introduced to a campaign in spellbooks found as treasure. When a DM adds spells to a campaign, clerics, druids, and paladins require special consideration. When characters of those classes prepare their spells, they have access to the entire spell list for their class. Given that fact, the DM should be cautious about making all of these new spells available to a player who is overwhelmed when presented with many options. For such a player, consider adding only story-appropriate spells to the spell list of that player’s character. #### Instantaneous Wall *3rd-level conjuration* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 reaction (When you are targeted by a ranged weapon attack.) - **Range:** self - **Components:** V, S - **Duration:** 1 minute - **Class:** Bard, sorcerer, wizard You for a small wall, that springs into existence Instantaneously. When you cast this spell, you create a wall 5 feet in front of you blocking the projectile, that is 5 feet wide, 5 feet tall, and 3 inches thick. You can only cast this spell if there is an unoccupied spot within 5 feet of you. It lasts for the duration of the spell, or until it is reduced to 0 hit points. It has 10 hit points, resistance to nonmagical piercing and slashing damage, and immunity to poison and psychic damage. As an action on each of your turns, you can move the wall up to 30 feet, to an unoccupied spot. #### Fldhaverr's Aberrational Form *5th-level transmutation* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** self - **Components:** V, S, M (A part of a monster from the monster type you are transforming into, which the spell consumes) - **Duration:** Concentration, up to 10 minutes - **Class** Warlock, sorcerer, wizard You fuse with the energy of an aberration, becoming aberration like yourself. You choose a monster type when you cast this spell, slaad, mind flayer, beholder, or star spawn, and gain a benefit for the duration based on your choice. Additionally, you gain resistance to psychic damage and know deep speech for the duration. **Slaad.** For the duration, you have an advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. Additionally, at the start of each of your turns, if you have at least 1 hit point, you regain a number of hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. **Mind Flayer.** For the duration, you gain the benefits of the detect thoughts spell. Additionally, you grow tentacles. As an action on each of your turns, you can make an attack with one of them. They are melee spell attacks, deal 2d6 psychic damage on a hit, and have 5 feet of reach. When you hit a creature with a tentacle, it must succeed on an intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC or be stunned until the start of your next turn. **Beholder.** For the duration, and have a mass of beholder like eye-stalks. You have an advantage on wisdom (perception) checks, and as an action on each of your turns, you can make an eye ray attack. They are ranged spell attacks that deal 1d10 psychic damage on a hit and have 120 feet of range. On a hit, you also roll a d4 to determine a special effect appliqued to the target. 1. Fear ray. The target must succeed on a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or become frightened of you until the start of your next turn. 2. Telekinetic ray. The target must succeed on a strength saving throw against your spell save DC or be moved up to 10 feet in any direction of your choice and become restrained until the start of your next turn. While restrained in this way, the creature floats 5 feet in the air. 3. Sleep ray. The target must succeed on a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or fall asleep and remain unconscious until the end of your next turn. The target awakens if it takes damage or another creature takes an action to wake it. This ray has no effect on constructs and undead. 4. Disintegration ray. The target takes an additional 2d6 force damage. **Star Spawn.** For the duration, you instead have immunity to psychic damage. Additionally, at the star of each of your turns, all creatures within 10 feet of you must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 2d6 psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

All creatures no more than 5 feet off the ground, in a 60 foot cone emanating from you in a direction of your choice must make a dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d10 bludgeoning damage and is knocked *prone* on a failed save. On a successful one, a creature takes half as much damage and is not knocked prone. The cone becomes difficult terrain for an hour after you cast this spell. Additionally, you can choose a number of creatures in the come up to half the level at which you cast this spell (round down). Those creatures automatically succeed the saving throw. ***At Higher Levels.*** When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d10 for each slot level above 4th, and you can choose one more creature automatically succeed the saving throw for every two levels higher you cast the spell (detailed in the spell). #### Temporal Phase *1st-level Transmutation* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** Self - **Components:** V, S - **Duration:** 1 round - **Class:** Wizard You phase forward in time a round. (you choose which one). This spell’s initial damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6). #### Riff of Inspiration ___ - *2nd level enchantment* - **Components** V, S - **Duration** 1 hour - **Range** 30 feet - **Class** Bard You play a quick melody that inspiries your allies. Choose up to 6 creatures within range other than yourself. You distribute 8 inspiring chords among these creatures in any way you wish. When an affected creature rolls a d20 for an ability check, saving throw, or attack roll, they can expend any number of inspiring chords to gain a bonus equal to the number extended. They can expend these after they roll but before they hear the results of the roll. At the end of the duration, any remaining inspiring chords are lost. **At Higher Levels** If you cast this with a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, distribute an additional 2 inspiring chords for each level above 2nd. \page #### Fissure *2nd-level Evocation* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 60 feet - **Components:** V, S - **Duration:** Concentration, up to a minute - **Class:** Druid, Ranger You touch the ground, causing a ravine to snake it way toward a creature of your choice that you can see within range. The ravine is 20 feet deep, and creatures on the line when the spell is cast must succeed on a dexterity savng throw or fall in, taking the normal fall damage. On a success, a creature is able to grap onto the ledge and must use all of it's movement next turn to clamber over it. The ravine meains for the duration. When the spell ends, creatures still in the ravine are expelled out to the nearest unoccupied space, and the ravine closes. **At Higher Levels.** When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the ravine is 10 feet deeper for every slot above 2nd. #### Expel Magic ___ - *6th level transmutation* - **Duration** Instantaneous - **Components** V, S - **Range** 120 feet - **Class** Sorcerer You expel some of the magic coursing through your body, into a creature of your choice within range. As part of casting this spell, expend a spell slot. The target takes a number of d12s of force damage equal to 9 + twice the level of the spell slot expended. If the creature has the ability to cast at least one spell, it gains a spell slot of level equal to the once you expended. They can use this spell slot like a normal spell slot, regaining it after a long rest. While the creature has this spell slot, you cannot regain your spell slot you expended as part of casting this spell. When you complete a long rest you do not regain it, and you cannot expended sorcery points to regain it. A 10 foot sphere centered on the point you choose becomes magically dark for the duration. Non-magical light can't illuminate it, and a creature with darkvision cannot see in it. A creature who comes into the sphere for the first time (including when the spell is cast) or ends their turn in to must make a charisma saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 psychic damage, begins to emanate darkness. A 10 foot sphere centered on the creature is filled with darkness for the duration. Non-magical light can't illuminate it, and a creature with darkvision cannot see in it. When the creature moves, the darkness moves with it. A creature who comes into it for the first time or ends their turn there must make a charisma saving throw, with the same effects on a failed save as with the original darkness. A creature emanating darkness in this way takes 2d6 psychic damage at the start of each of its turns, and can repeat the save at the end of each of it's turns, ending the effect on a success. ## Races Heroes come in many shapes and sizes. When making your character, choosing a race for your character is an important choice. This section provides more races to supplment those presented in the Player's Handbook.

##### Lineages The races in this section will be races as appose to linages. However, each race with have guidelines for turning the races into a linage, for those who wish to play with lineages instead of races.

### Saguagin > "Swarms of raiders rose of from the sea, each somehow between a human and a shark, mouths full of tiny teeth. They attack mercilessly, killing all who apposed them." > > -An account of a sahuagin raid. Sahuagin, also known as shark folk, are shark like people who live deep under the waves. They try to imitate sharks in all ways possible, to please the ruler of all sharks, Sekolah. The shark folk are skilled and merciless hunters, hunting in a similar manner to sharks: Finding an injured target and killing before it has a chance to fight back. Coastal reefers refer to Sahuagin as "sea devils" for sahuagin have no compassion for them, slaughtering crews and ships and decimating coastal villages. ##### Shark Followers The sahuagin culture imitates sharks, seeing it as the way to worship the shark god Sekolah. Sahuagin are driven to a frenzy by the sent of fresh blood like the animal counterpart. They use this frenzy to their advantage, quickly slaying any injured target. Because of their following Sekolah, sahuagin have a special connection with sharks, which they can use to train sharks into hunting companions. They have also developed the ability telepathically communicate with sharks, and can use this to great effect. Sahuagin do not always follow this fanatical shark imitation. Some, called "rogue sahuagin" by the rest of the culture, break away from this and live their own lives. They still maintain these abilities but do not imitate sharks. The sahuagin government is whole-heatedly against these rogue sahuagin and kill all if them they can. ##### Predators of the Deep Sahuagin are masterful predators who ave a nearly fanatical importance to hunting. They see hunting as the the way of life and the way to follow Sekolah. Hunting is a large part of the sahuagin culture, and is nearly always a brutal processes of killing anything they can eat. When the sahuagin hunt, they venture out from the depths to slay creature in the shallows and on the shore. Sahuagin live in the deepest trenches of the ocean, and see the entire sea as their domain. The rulers of the sahuagin are four-armed mutants called barons, who declare their rulership over the sahuagin and the ocean. ##### Elven Hatred The sahuagin loathe the sea elves. The ocean would be entirely the sahuagin's domain, were it not for the aquatic elves. These two races are always at war, battling for the rulership of the sea. This conflict goes back further that anyone can remember, always shaping the aquatic world. This bloody war disrupts maritime trade and draws other races into the ongoing war, leaving its mark on the world in the many lives lost to it. So intense is sahuagin hatred for the aquatic elves that the sea devils have adapted to combat their ancient foes. A sahuagin born near enough to an aquatic elf community can enter the world as a malenti — a sahuagin that physically resembles an aquatic elf in every way. Sahuagin are prone to mutation, but whether this rare phenomenon is a result of the wars between the sahuagin and the aquatic elves — or whether it preceded or even began the conflict — none can say.

\page #### Sahuagin Traits Sahuagin are brutal hunters and efficiant killers. As such, you gain the following raciel traits. ##### Ability Score Increase Your strength score increases by 2 and your wisdom by 1. ##### Age Sahuagin live to around 40 years old, reaching adulthood at about 5. ##### Alignment Most sahuagin are lawful evil, although some, such as must rogue sahuagin, can be neutral or even good. ##### Size Sahuagin are slightly larger than humans, growing just over 6 feet tall on average, and weighing up to 220 lbs. Your size is medium. ##### Speed Because your webbed feet are meant for swimming, your base walking speed is 25 feet and you have a base swimming speed of 35 feet. ##### Darkvision Accustomed to life deep underwater, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 30 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. This radius increases to 120 feet while underwater. ##### Shark Telepathy You have a limited telepathy. You can telepathically speak to any shark you can see within 30 feet of you. Your communication doesn’t give the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically. Additionally, you learn the *animal friendship* spell. Once between long rests you can cast it from this trait without expending a spell slot, targeting only a shark. ##### Blood Frenzy When you make an attack roll against a creature with less than half it's maximum health remaining, you can choose to roll with an advantage. If the attack hits and it reduces the creature to 0 hp, your speed increases by 10 feet and you do not provoke opportunity attacks until the end of your turn. This can only be done once per turn. ##### Bite Your fanged maw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. ##### Amphibiousness You can breathe both air and water. ``` ```

##### Saguagin as a Lineage To turn the sahuagin race into a lineage, make the following changes to the raciel features above: - Replace the **Ability Score Increase** Feature with the following feature. **Ability Score Increase.** When determining your ability scores, you increase one of those scores by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or you increase three different scores by 1. You follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy. - Replace the **Languages** feature with the following one. **Languages.** Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of widespread languages to choose from. The DM is free to add or remove languages from that list for a particular campaign. - Replace the **Size** feature with the following one. **Size.** You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you choose this lineage.

### Mark of Rulership **Parent Race: Gnome** The Mark of Rulership deals with leadership and decisive action. A gnome who bears the mark can direct and give order with ease. Mark of rulership gnomes are natural leaders. Some deal with military orders, others with laws. All have a supernatural gift for leadership. #### Mark of Rulership Traits Gnomes who bear the mark of rulership have a gift for leading, ruleing, and inspiring. As such, you gain the following raciel features in addition to those granted by your parent race. ##### Ability Score Increase Your charisma score increases by 1. ##### Gifted Leader When you make an ability check using either *performance* or *persuasion*, you can roll and add a d4 to the check. \page ##### Natural Leader You know the *guidance*cantrip. You can also cast *command* once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it when you finish a short or long rest. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the *magic weapon* spell with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it when you finish a long rest. They learned to use every avalible resource: domesticating lava mephits and building from the pumace. #### Volcanic Elf Traits Volcanic elves have the following reciel features, in addition to those granted by the parent race. ##### Ability Score Improvement Your constitution score increases by 1. ##### Heat Ressistance You gain ressistance to fire damage. ##### Survivalist You gain proficiancy in the *survival* skill. ### Undeathly Corruption Creatures corrupted by undeathly influence are perminently changed. This variant can be used for any race. #### Undeathly Corruption Traits Because of your undead infection, you gain the following traits in addition to those granted by the standerd version of the race. This includes the features granted by your subrace. ##### Undead Your creature type is both humanoid and undead. ##### Damage Ajustment You gain ressistance to necrotic damage and vulniribility to radiant. ``` ``` ##### Undeathly Retribution When you take damage from an attack, you can use your reaction to cause the attacker to take necrotic damage equal to your level. When you do this, you take damage equal to 1d4+your level, in addition to the damage you took from the attack. While the paraglider is unfolded it takes both your hands. If you fall and the paraglider in unfolded, you can subtract up to 200 feet from your fall when calculating your fall damage and can move horizontally 2 feet for every 1 foot you fall. #### Liquid Hallucinations ___ - **Type:** Poison - **Cost:** 3000 gp - **Weight:** 115 lbs ___ Created by witchcraft, Liquid Hallucinations is known to be extremely potent. A creature subjected to this poison must make a DC 18 constitution saving throw, or be affected by short term madness. While effected by this madness, a creature can make either a DC 18 wisdom saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect early on a success. When this effect ends, either by succeeding the save or the after the full 1d10 minutes are up, they must succeed on a DC 8 wisdom saving throw or be affected by indefinite madness. ___ **Injury.** Injury poison can be applied to weapons, ammunition, trap components, and other objects that deal piercing or slashing damage and remains potent until delivered through a wound or washed off. A creature that takes piercing or slashing damage from an object coated with the poison is exposed to its effects. ___ **Ingested.** A creature must swallow an entire dose of ingested poison to suffer its effects. The dose can be delivered in food or a liquid. You may decide that a partial dose has a reduced effect, such as allowing advantage on the saving throw or dealing only half damage on a failed save. #### Barbed Arrow ___ - **Type:** Ammunition - **Cost:** 15 gp - **Weight:** 1 lbs ___ Ranged attack rolls made with this arrow are made at a disadvantage. When you deal damage to a creature with a ranged attack using this arrow, the arrow becomes lodged in the creature's flesh. It reamins lodged in this way until the creature uses an action to remove it. When a creature moves with an arrow lodged in this way, they take 1d4 piercing damage. Arrows are used with a weapon that has the ammunition property to make a ranged attack. Each time you attack with the weapon, you expend one piece of ammunition. Drawing the ammunition from a quiver, case, or other container is part of the attack (you need a free hand to load a one-handed weapon). At the end of the battle, you can recover half your expended ammunition by taking a minute to search the battlefield.

\page # Dungeon Master Options As the Dungeon Master, you oversee the game and weave together the story experienced by your players. You’re the one who keeps it all going, and this chapter is for you. It gives you new rules options, as well as some refined tools for creating and running adventures and campaigns. It also provids more magic items and monsters to use in your camapign. It is a supplement to the tools and advice offered in the *Dungeon Master’s Guide.* ## Magic Items This section provinds many new magic items to use as rewards, in addition to the ones preseanted in the *Dungeon Master's Guide.* #### Scroll of Secrets *Scroll, very rare* This scroll has stored inside it many secrets. As an action while holding this scroll, you can choose a creature, object, or place within 60 feet of yourself. You ask the scroll a question about the target. The answer appears written on the scroll. The scroll crumbles to dust after you read the answer. #### Hooked Sword of Immobilization *Weapon (hooked sword), uncommon (required attunement)* This sword is meant for immobilizing enemies. As an action you can choose a creature grappled by this magic sword. That creature must succeed a DC 12 constitution saving throw or be incapacitated while grappled in this way. Once you use this property, it cannot be used until the next dawn. #### Spiked Gauntlet of Force *Weapon (spiked gauntlet), rare (required attunement)* When you deal damage to a creature with this magic item, the creature must make a DC 14 strength saving throw. On a failed save the creature is pushed back 5 feet. If the creature fails the save by 5 or more, the target is also knocked prone. #### Infinite Pendant *Wondrous Item, rare (required attunement)* This magic item is a small, ordinary looking pendant. It pendant has 3 charges. As an action while wearing the pendant, a creature can expend a charge to choose an object or willing creature within 30 feet of itself. That creature or object is magically stored in the pendant. The pendant can never have more than one creature or object in it at once time. As an action, a creature wearing the pendant or stored in it can release the object or creature stored in the pendant. When this happens, it appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the pendant. If the pendant is destroyed while a creature or object is inside of it, the creature or object is ejected into an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the pendant. All charges are restored by spending 48 hours and 200 gp. ``` ``` #### Seed of Growing *Wonderous Item, Uncommon* This small, ordinary-looking seed measures 1/4 of an inch in diameter and weighs an a few grams. Typically, 1d2 + 3 Seeds of Growing are found together. As an action, you can plat the seen in a point within 5 feet of you, in the ground. To do this, their must be dirt, soil, or other such ground below the point you plant the seed in. At the start of your next turn, the seed bursts up, instantly growing into your choice of dense foliage or a tree. **Dense Foliage.** A 10 foot square of dense foliage that is 5 feet tall grows around the point where the planted the seed. The dense foliage lasts for an hour, before rumbling to dust. The foliage counts as difficult terrain, and lightly obscures creatures in it or behind it. It has an armor class of 11, vulnerability to fire and slashing damage damage, immunity to poison and psychic damage, and 10 hp. **Tree.** A 25 feet tall tree with a 5 foot diameter base grows on the point you planted the seed. Creatures in the area of the tree are harmlessly pushed to the side, to the nearest unoccupied space. The tree lasts for an hour, before crumbling to dust. It heavily obscures creatures behind it, and provides as cover. It has an armor class of 13, vulnerability to fire damage damage, resistant to bludgeoning and piercing damage, immunity to poison and psychic damage, and 20 hp. Additionally, if the tree takes 4 damage or less, i can instead take no damage. After a seed is used, it cannot be used again. #### Arcane Alchemist's Supplies *Wounderous Item (alchemist's supplies), Rare (requires attunement)* This set of alchemist's supplies is infused with arcane energy. This magic item has 3 charges. As an action, you can expend a charge to instantly create a potion of healing. The potion created by this magic item appears in your hands, and lasts for 24 hours, before turning into plain water. Additionally, you can use an action and expend 3 charges to choose one of your features that has a limited number of uses between short or long rests, such as a fighter's action surge or a barbarian's rage. When you do this, you loose a use of the feature as if you had just used it, and a potion with a clear fluid inside appears in your hand. It lasts for 24 hours, or until it is drank. A creature can use it's action to drink the potion. When it does, it gains the benefit of the feature, as if it has just used it. Finally, when you cast a spell while in possession of the alchemist's supplies, you can instead of casting the spell, spend 3 charges to cast it into the alchemist's supplies. When you do this, the spell is cast as normal, but the effect does not happen, and a potion with a clear liquid appears in your hands. It lasts for 24 hours, or until it is drank. A creature can use it's action to drink the potion. When it does, it casts the spell.

\page #### Vile of Shaping *Potion, Very rare* This small vile contains a thick, silvery liquid. As an action, you can uncork the vile. When you do so, the metal begins to flow out of the vile, hardening instantly. Choose any shape, that is 15 by 15 by 15 feet or smaller. That shape forms instantly in a point of your choice within 20 feet of you, made out of magical metal. The object created by this lasts for 24 hours, before disintegrating into a metal powder. It weighs 500,000 pounds, regardless of what the object is. If a creature in in the area the object is created in, the creature is harmlessly pushed out of the way, to the nearest unoccupied space. If a creature is below it when it forms and the object would fall onto the creature, the creature is pushed to the nearest unoccupied space. The object has an armor class of 19; resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage; immunity to poison and psychic damage; and 30 hit points. Additionally, if it is takes 5 damage or less, it instead takes no damage. After the vile is uses, it cannot be used again until it is refilled. To refill it, you must spend 48 hours and 1,000 go worth of steel. #### Claymore of Space *Weapon (greatsword), legendary (requires attunement)* The claymore of space grants the wielder control over the manipulation of space itself. You can use your bonus action to teleport a number of feet up to 2d4 times 10, to an unoccupied space you can see. In addition, you can cast the arcane gate from this magic item twice, regaining use at dawn. When you take the attack action to attack with this magic item, you can choose a creature or object within 60 feet of yourself. The target is pushed up to 30 feet in any direction. A creature can succeed a DC 19 strength saving throw to resist the effect. If the creature of object hits another creature, that creature takes 2d8 bludgeoning damage and is knocked prone. #### Falchion of Time *Weapon (scimitar), legendary (requires attunement)* The falchion of time let's the wielding control time itself. You can use your bonus action to cast either the *haste* or *slow* spells from this magic item. This property can be used twice, regaining at dawn. The spell save DC for these spells is 19. In addition, you can roll and add 2d4s to your initiative rolls. A creature attuned to this magic item can use it's time magic it delay events. When a creature you can see within 120 feet of you takes an action, you can use your reaction to attempt to delay the action. You make an arcana check check contested against the triggering creature's wisdom saving throw. If you win, the action does not happen. At the start of the creature's next turn, the action happens as if the creature just preformed it. This does not take the creature's action. This property can be used 5 times, regaining uses at dawn. ``` ``` #### Blade of Reality *Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement)* Long ago, a colony of crushers experimented with the powers of space and time, of reality itself. They forged two blade immense power. One was a light scimitar that possessed power over the flow of time, called the falchion of time. The other was a massive greatsword with the power to manipulate space, called the claymore of space. When brought together, they would magically combine into the blade of reality, a sword that can manipulate every aspect of reality. This blade was given to the ruler of the colony, a devious crusher who would stop at nothing to end slaads forever. The colony attacked the slaads using the power of the blade of reality. The battle was close, but the crushers were outnumbered and they were defeated. Not wanting their weapon to come into the hand of the slaads, they broke into it's two blades, the falchion of time and the claymore of space, and threw them into the planes, where they were lost to time. When a creature is attuned to both the claymore of space and the falchion of time, they both transform into the blade of reality. **Magic Weapon.** The Blade of Reality is a magic weapon that functions as a both a Claymore of space and a Falchion of time. It also functions as a weapon, +1 **Random Properties.** The sword has the following randomly determined properties, as described in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide: - 1 major beneficial property - 2 major detrimental properties **Manipulate Reality.** As an action, you can cast the *creation* from this magic item, requiring no concentration. This property can be used once, regaining the ability at dawn. **Destroying the Sword.** To destroy the sword, a creature must unattune to blade of reality to separate it into it's two parts, then cast each into a black hole.

\page #### Living Statuette *Wondrous Item, Rare (requires attunement)* This small statuette is made of smooths granite, and is either shaped as a *pseudodragon*, a *blink dog*, a *cockatrice*, a *giant poisonous snake*, or a *giant wolf spider*. As an action, a creature holding this magic item can place it down and speak it’s command word. When this happens, it comes to life, using the game statistics of the creature it resembles, with the following changes - It’s creatures type becomes construct - It’s size becomes tiny - It gains the following feature. ***False Appearance.*** While the creature remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal statuette. The creature remains alive for 24 hours, during which time it obeys your verbal command (no action required). You can use your action to temporarily see out of its eyes. When you do this, you become *incipacitated*, *blinded*, *deafened*, and your speed is reduced to 0 for a minute. During this time you can see and hear what the creature sees and hears. After 24 hours the creature crumbles to dust. It can be repaired by touching it and expanding a spell slot of 5th level or higher. It then is attuned to the creature who expended the spell slot #### Serpent Whip *Weapon (whip), uncommon (requires attunement)* While attuned to this magic item, you can use your bonus action to cause it to grows into a large serpent. When you hit a creature with this serpent, the target must make a DC 13 constitution saving throw. A creature takes 2d6 poison damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Additionally, the whip's reach becomes 15 feet. It lasts as a serpent for a minute, or until you dismiss it as a bonus action. **Curse.** When you use your bonus action to transform this magic item into a serpent, roll a d20. On a 1, the whip transforms into a *poisonous snake*. The snake is hostile to you an your companions. This curse can be removed by a remove curse spell or similar magic. However, removing the curse removes the ability to transform the whip into a serpent. #### Shock Armor *Armor (plate), very rare (requires attunement)* While wearing this magic armor, you gain resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, this magic item has 10 charges, which can be used in the following ways: When you hit with an unarmed strike, a natural weapon, or a melee weapon attack made with a metal weapon, you can expend up to 3 charges to deal an additional 2d6 lightning damage for each charge expended. When you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to expend up to 5 charges. When you do this, the creature that hit you must make a DC 17 dexterity saving throw, taking 1d10 lightning damage for every charge expended on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. 2d6 - 2 charges are regained daily at dawn. ``` ``` #### Mirror of teleportation *Wonderous item, Legendary* Mirrors of Teleportation come in pairs, attuned to each other. The mirror's surface feels liquid. When a creature uses it's movement to walk into the front of the mirror, they are immidiatly teleported to the front of the other mirror. If the front of the other mirror is occupied or obstructed, a creature cannot telport in this way, and the mirror feels solid. ## Variant Rules This sections provides many variant rules you can use to suplliment the base rules of the game. ### Combat Exhaustion As a variant rule, you may want to use combat exhaustion, to give your battle a sense of gritty realism and add a depth of strategy. You way want to only add this effect a few round into a fight or you may want to start it at the very beginning of the battle. At the start of each creature's turn in combat, the creature must succeed a constitution saving throw, with DC equal to 5 + the round number. On a failed save, a creature suffers a level of combat exhaustion. Additionally, a creature can choose to suffer a level of combat exhaustion on their turn (in addition to making the saving throw). When they do this, they gain an advantage on all attack rolls made that turn. Use the following table to determine the effects of combat exhaustion. A creature has the effects of it's current combat exhaustion level and each one below it. Every minute spent not in combat reduces a creature's combat exhaustion points by 1, to a minimum of 0. | Combat Exhaustion Points | Effect | |:----:|:-------------| | 1 | -10 Speed reduction. | | 2 | Disadvantage on ability checks. | | 3 | Speed halved. \page ### Wish Side Effects The *wish* spell is so powerful it can alter the very foundations of the world. When a player character casts it, they are unleashing this power. As such, it is fair for the casting of the spell to have consequences and side effects. There are already some such consequences in the spell's description. However, you may want to change these. When the *wish* spell is cast, as a variant rule, you can roll on the following table for side effects. This is meant to be done instead of the effects in the spell's description. However, you can use both. Any side effects cannot be cured or ended by any means short of the *wish* spell. | d20 | Effect | |:-----|:-------------| | 1 | The caster dies | | 2 | The caster gains a level of *exhaustion*. The caster gains a new flaw: "I must complete the goal to survive" | | 20 | Roll twice, ignoring results of 20 | ### Variant Initiative Initiative rolls can slow down your game and take far too long. As a variant rule, you may want to use variant initiative to speed up initiative rolls, add more strategy to initiative, and allow for more DM flexibility. When a creature finishes a long rest, they roll four d20s, add their initiative modifier to each roll, and record the results. These rolls are lost when a creature takes a long rest. When a creature enters combat, instead of rolling initiative, they choose one of their rolls and use this as their initiative roll. This roll is then expended and cannot be used again. The turn order is from highest to lowest, as with normal initiative rules. If a creature is out of initiative rolls and enters combat, their roll is 2 + their initiative modifier. Creatures not controlled by a player character have initiative roll(s) chosen by the DM to suit the encounter. ### Improved Potion Brewing As a variant rule, you may want to use this improved potion brewing method. It will help make potion brewing in your games more immersive, balanced, and most importantly, fun. To brew a potion, a creature must have a recipe. Each potion has it's own recipe, and when you brew a potion, you must have that's potion's recipe. Each creature starts with a number of recipes of their choice equal to half their proficiency bonus, or their proficiency bonus instead if they are proficient in alchemist's supplies. When a creature’s proficiency bonus changes, their known recipes changes to match their new proficiency bonus. On your adventures, you may find more recipes. Each recipe has a recommended level. You way want to limit your players to taking potion recipes with recommended level of their level or lower, or you may want to let your players select any potion recipes.

##### Potion Recipes Potion recipes can be found and bought. Most large cities will have at least one shop that can sell potion recipes. Potion recipes typically cost between 20 and 50 gold pieces. Potion recipe can also be found. They have similar rarity to a common magical item.

When you attempt to make a potion that you have the recipe for, you make an ability check. You modifier on this ability check is your Intelligence modifier, plus your proficiency bonus if you are proficient in alchemist's supplies. This check is made at a disadvantage if you do not have an alchemist's supplies when making this check. The DC for this ability check is determined by the potion you are trying to make, and is detailed in the recipe. Recipes also have ingredients. If you expend these ingredients you make the ability check as normal. If you do not however, you suffer a penalty to the ability check detailed in the recipe. If succeed the ability check, you craft the potion, whose effects are detailed in the recipe. If you fail the check, then the ingredients are wasted and you are left with inedible (bot not poisonous) liquid.

\page Making a potion in this way takes two hours, and can be done during any expended period of downtime such as a long rest. Many potion recipes have a greater and normal form. They work like normal, but have two different DCs and to levels of effects. If you have the recipe for one form, you also have the recipe for the other. When you make the potion, you must choose which one you are making before you roll your ability check. #### Potion Recipes The following are sample recipes that you can use in your games. You can also create your own recipes. > ##### Healing Potion > - **Ingredients.** Water and a leaf. > - **Penalty.** -1 to the check. > - **DC.** 12 (normal) or 16 (greater) > - **Recommended Level.** 1 > >**Effect.** You regain hit points when you drink this potion. The number of hit points is either 2d4+2 (normal) or 4d4+4 (greater). Whatever its potency, the potion’s red liquid glimmers when agitated. > ##### Potion of Elemental Resistance > - **Ingredients.** Water and a source of the damage types you are making the potion for. (example: a *firebolt* spell for heat resistance) > - **Penalty.** -2 to the check. > - **DC.** 13 (normal) or 18 (greater) > - **Recommended Level.** 4 > >**Effect.** When you create this potion, choose acid, thunder, fire, lightning, or cold. When you drink this potion, you gain resistance to the damage type you chose for a minute (normal) or 4 hours (greater). The potion looks to be a swirling mass of colors. > ##### Potion of Water Breathing > - **Ingredients.** Water, a fish scale, and a piece of aquamarine worth at least 25 gp. > - **Penalty.** -4 to the check. > - **DC.** 11 (normal) or 14 (greater) > - **Recommended Level.** 2 > >**Effect.** After you drink this potion, you can water but not air for 8 hours (normal), or you can breathe both air and water for 8 hours (greater). Whatever its potency, the potion looks like water. > ##### Potion of Shielding > - **Ingredients.** A piece of metal and a diamond worth at least 100 gp. > - **Penalty.** -3 to the check. > - **DC.** 13 (normal) or 17 (greater) > - **Recommended Level.** 2 > >**Effect.** Drinking this potion grants you a +2 bonus to your armor class (normal) or a +4 bonus to your armor class (greater). Either way, this bonus lasts for a minute. The potion is metal colored and is so thick it's nearly a solid. > ##### Empowerment Potion > - **Ingredients.** N/A. > - **Penalty.** N/A. > - **DC.** 15 > - **Recommended Level.** 10 > >**Effect.** When you create this potion, choose a ability score. Drinking this potion increases that ability score and it's maximum each by 2, to a maximum of 30. Additionally, both your current hp and your maximum hp increase by 10. These benefits last an hour. > ##### Trick Potion > - **Ingredients.** A healing potion. > - **Penalty.** Automatic fail on the check. > - **DC.** 13 > - **Recommended Level.** 5 > >**Effect.** Drinking this potion forces you to make a DC 17 constitution saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. This potion is indistinguishable from a healing potion in any way, and a creature who casts a spell that would reveal if this is a healing potion fails unless the spell is cast at 4th level or higher. > ##### Potion of Flight > - **Ingredients.** Feather of a *roc* > - **Penalty.** -4 to the check. > - **DC.** 14 > - **Recommended Level.** 10 > >**Effect.** You gain a flying speed equal to twice you walking speed, which lasts for an hour.
