# Devil May Cry: Slice and Dice

\page # Chapter 1: The Tale of the Nightmare In this chapter of the system we will cover the basic lore of Devil May C ry, from the beginning of time to current events up to Devil May Cry 5. These things only cover the events of the original Devil May Cry timeline and not the Reboot one. These are the basic things and will have spoilers for the games as well, not only the story of it. ### The start of time After defeating the demon king Mundus, Sparda closed the gateway connecting the human world to the demon one using his own blood, a special amulet, and the blood of a human priestess. ### Early 20th Century For a while, everything was great: Sparda was a benevolent ruler for about 2,000 years, gained a human form and fell in love with a woman named Eva. The two had twin boys , Dante and Vergil, who he gave each a half of his special amulet. Sadly, at some point (we don’t exactly know when or how) Sparda dies, and this is where things start to take a turn. Mundus’s demons return to the human world and kills Eva, leaving Sparda’s two sons orphaned and alone. ### Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Fast forward to the start of Devil May Cry 3, which sees a young Dante just getting started with his as-of-yet unnamed demon hunting business. He gets approached by a man named Arkham, who offers him an invitation - well, it’s really more of a challenge from Vergil to meet him at the top of a tower called the Temen-ni-Gru. Dante fights his way through the tower, running into a couple of extremely well-named characters: a Jester named “Jester” and a Lady named “Lady”, who’s out for revenge against the man who killed her mother. This all culminates with a ton of revelations that all kind of hit at the same time: The jester is really Arkham, Lady is actually Mary, his daughter, and Dante and Vergil both learn they’re sons of Sparda (but you knew that already). Arkham reveals his scheme to open the gateway to the demon world and claim the sword of Sparda, called the Force Edge. Unfortunately for him, though, Arkham can’t handle that kind of power and transforms into a gross purple blob. Dante and Vergil team up to put down Arkham for good, Lady finishes the job, and then the two brothers have one final battle over who gets to keep Dad’s shiny necklace. Dante wins, Vergil gets stuck in the demon world along with his amulet, and Dante finally finds a name for his new shop... ### Devil May Cry Sometime later, a woman named Trish barges through the doors of Dante’s shop with a job: travel to Mallet Island to put a stop to Mundus, who’s planning his grand return to power after all these years. ``` ``` Dante makes his way to the island, fights his way through a ton of puppet monsters, a nightmare named Nightmare (they’re really good at naming things in this series, aren’t they?), and a mysterious swordsman named Nelo Angelo. As it turns out, Nelo Angelo is actually Vergil. After getting stuck in the Demon World, he picked a fight against Mundus but lost and became a thrall under his command. After defeating Nelo Angelo for the last time, Dante gains the other half of his father’s amulet, causing him to finally realize what happened to his long lost brother. Nelo Angelo wasn’t the only one with a secret, though - Trish is revealed to be an agent of Mundus all along. She betrays Dante, tries to kill him, fails and almost dies, but is saved by Dante for having a face that looks like his mother. I know, how… sweet? Dante’s heroism causes a change of heart in Trish, and when Dante is about to get killed by Mundus during one of their confrontations, she sacrifices herself to save him. This causes Dante to activate his “Christian Bale Batman Super Serious Mode,” defeating Mundus in a wild boss fight. Dante lays Trish to rest with his Amulet and makes his escape from Mallet Island. Of course, Mundus comes back for one more round, but is finally put down thanks to the combined effort of Dante and the notably not-dead Trish. The two escape on a plane, exchange some nonsensical dialogue and the credits roll, bringing us to… ### Devil May Cry 2 Dante meets a lady named Lucia, the two go to Dumary Island where they face off against Arius, a businessman who wants to release a powerful demon god named Argosax. Dante flips a bunch of coins, eventually defeats Arius and Argosax, and Dante rides his motorcycle off into hell. ### Devil May Cry 4 Devil May Cry 4 shines the spotlight on a new character, Nero, who begins the game on the hunt for Dante, after he (Dante) crashes a party put on by the Order of the Sword and kills its leader, Sanctus. The Order of the Sword (SwOrder?) is a religious sect that worships Sparda, but we eventually learn that their true nature is far more nefarious, with its members undergoing “Ascension Ceremonies” that actually turn them into demons. Sanctus is brought back to life thanks to an ascension ceremony, and he winds up orchestrating a plot to activate what’s known as “The Savior,” a gigantic statue in the image of Sparda, that he plans to use to conquer the world. In order to activate the statue, though, they need Sparda’s blood. Which, as luck would have it, Nero has! For reasons that aren’t really explained... but we can speculate that it probably has something to do with his devil-bringer arm, which has some obvious connection with Vergil. Anyways, Sanctus captures Nero, locks him inside the Savior, and from there it’s up to Dante to retrace Nero’s steps, rescue him, and together they bring down Sanctus and the savior once and for all. \page # Chapter 2: Rules of the Trade In **DMC: Slice and Dice** you have two types of players. The first are the players. You need at least one player to play the game. As a player, your choices, actions, and at times, luck change how the game progresses and your character is the protagonist of whatever story your Storyteller has prepared for you and your friends to slice and dice through. Speaking of the Storyteller, the Storyteller is the group member who in response to what you do, tells you the result of what happens, usually dictated by the result of a d6. While you can play without a Storyteller, you will face a lot of difficulties, unfairness and bias. We recommend the Storyteller of any group has a good idea of the rules, of the lore of Devil May Cry #### The Two Golden Rules This book contains quite a few rules, and it’s easy for one to get lost, especially if one isn’t used to role-playing games of this type. In other cases, certain rules might not fit well with the way your group prefers to play. Both of these cases can slow down, or otherwise harm, the gaming experience for a group. To combat this, keep in mind these two golden rules above all others. First, **if a certain rule is slowing play down too much, just stop using it**. Second, **if you want to change something, do it**. While we have done our best to provide a ruleset that should be acceptable, nobody knows what works for your group ### Rolling **DMC: Slice and Dice** uses a d6 Dice Pool System where you get a group of d6s (Six Sided Dice) and see how many successes you get. A success is a result of 4 or higher unless stated otherwise (See Demeanor.) The storyteller might ask you to roll a pool of d6s called a Trial when you want your character to do something that might fail or if it has some sort of problem (E.g Vertically walking a 40 Meter wall, trying to type a message on the phone while being shot by all sides.) Usually a dice pool will be composed of the amount of Ranks you got in a Skill, unless it is for combat (See Combat.) In a Trial, you are trying to meet a specific amount of Successes, called the Target Number. If the amount of successes you got are more or equal as the Target Number then the Trial succeeds, if you have less successes than the Target Number then the Trial fails. If you get more than two 6s and you succeed the Trial, then it is considered a critical success, meaning that whatever you try to do you succeed extremely well at it. If you roll more than two 1s and you fail the Trial, it is considered a Critical Failure and something really bad happens. An example for both of these is like jumping off a building riding a bike and fall with the bike not getting damaged for a Critical Success or You firing a shotgun and the recoil makes you fall prone while also missing the shot. ``` ``` ### Combat At the beginning of combat, you roll two pools, the Action Pool (Swordmaster + Gunslinger) and the Defence Pool (Royal Guard + Trickster) Each turn, you roll your pools separately. Any die that comes up 4+ (3+ if you're Focused) counts as an point. You spend Action points to do a normal attack with your weapon and use special moves. Defense points are used when it's not your turn to use dodge-style moves. #### Combos Combos When you make a successful action in combat, you start a Combo. The combo continues until you get hit in combat, or miss more than once. When you kill a monster, you get a number of Red Orbs (xp) equal to it's xp value times your Combo level: ***Dull*** (5 hits) = x2 ***Crazy*** (7 hits)= x3 ***Bravo*** (12 hits) = x4 ***Awesome*** (17 hits) = x5 ***Showtime!*** (21+ hits) = x6 Stylish characters combo easier...their combo numbers are 3/5/7/12/17 Also, if you repeat the same move twice, without a different move between them, that move does not count towards the combo. You gotta mix it up to keep going. In addition to that there is Damage Types which is just a cosmetic way of explaining how the weapon damages the Demon. These types are Penetrating, Bruising, Slashing. For example, Rebellion would deal Slashing damage or a weapon like Cerberus would deal Brusing Damage. #### Initiative At the start of combat, the characters each roll a d100 and each Demon Too. Whoever rolled the Highest goes first, then the one wiwth the second Highest goes next. #### Movement Movement is freeform, meaning instead of having a Hex-Grid or a square grid you use a tape measurer, like in some Tabletop Wargames like *Warhammer 40k*. #### Miscellaneous Actions Other Actions might be done in combat, such as pulling levers, entering vehicles, and other mundane actions. These actions do not use Action Points, even if the Storyteller believe this might require a Trial. Jumping is a common thing in Devil May Cry. You use to to dodge hits, do aerial combos and moves and dodge. In DMC: Slice and Dice Jumping is not as important, mostly used in moves as miscellaneaous stuff. Usually doing stuff like parkour is a trial but normal jumps are not. #### Blocking and Dodging When it is the Demon's Turn and they attack you, if you got enough Defence Points (Or DP), you can attemp to block or dodge a hit. \page You need to roll Royal Guard + Block in order to block a hit, and the damage is just decreased by 1 and for dodging you need to roll Trickster + Dodge and you move 2 Meters sideways or backwards but if you fail the roll you get hit and fall prone. #### Effects Some attacks by demons can deal different effects on the characters. The effects one can contract are Burning, Poisoned, Frozen, Zapped, Stunned, Prone, Grappled and Unconcious. The first four can be inflicted by different attacks by Demons, Burning means every round you take 1 Point of Damage until you succeed an Agility Trial with a Target of 1. Poisoned means for a set amount of rounds you get dealt a set amount of damage. Frozen means your speed is halved and you get damaged (To a minimum of 1 Meter of Movement and rounded up to the lowest result), and zapped means you get stunned for one round unless you succeed a Brawn Trial with a Targer of 1. The following effects can be dealt to demons. When you get stunned it means your next turned is skipped unless the stun lasts for longer. Prone means you are on the floor, cannot attack or move but still dodge and you get up on your next turn. Grappled means someone is restraining you, meaning you cannot do anything unless you succeed a Brawn or Agility Trial with a Target equal to the Brawn of the one grappling you. ### Moves You can spend Red Orbs to buy moves. You build your moves out of a list of effects, and the effects you can buy depend on your Style levels. #### Swordmaster Moves: ____ Rank One Moves **Stinger** (5000 Orbs, Penetration Weapon Needed) Your Character moves double his movement in a straight line until it hits something, which upon impact deals Penetration damage equal to double the weapon's damage. (1 AP) **Hook Grab** (7500 Orbs) Your Character Grabs nearby demon and throws up in the air, dealing half as much damage but throws the enemy up in the air until the Characters next turn. (1 AP) **Fan Swipe** (7500 Orbs) Your Character spins in a circle, hitting all adjacent enemies within 5 Meters of him, dealing whatever damage the weapon he is wielding does. (1 AP) **Air Hike** (10000 Orbs) Your Character mid jump falls to the ground, pushing adjacent demons 5 Meters back, dealing 1 Point of Bruising Damage and rendering the demons prone but not the character. (1 AP) **Swarm of Fists** (9000 Orbs, Worn Weapon Needed) You unleash a flurry of fists that deal four times as much damage on a singular target which is minced meat by the end of the fight. (1 AP) **Jawbreaker** (5000 Orbs, Worn Weapon Needed) You break a Demon's jaw wide open, dealing quadruple damage. (1 AP) --- Rank Two Moves **Slippery When Wet** (12000 Orbs) Your Character slides in a straight line, hitting any demon adjacent to that line. Any demon successfully hit falls prone and is deal damage equal to the weapon the character is using. (1 AP) **Mirror Ripple** (13000 Orbs) Your Character shoves his weapon in the floor and picks as many areas as up to the amount of Double the Action Points he has at that turn. (2 AP) **Deadly Strike** (12000 Orbs) Your Character spins his weapon in the air before unleashing a devastating strike on the demon's weak spot, dealing normal damage but making it so that until the characters next turn, any hit becomes a Critical Hit. (2 AP) **Hedge of Spikes** (14000 Orbs, Penetrating Weapon Needed) Your Characters weapon dissapears and surrounds him with multiple copies of it, stabbing any demon nearby him for double damage. (2 AP) **Pulverizing Requiem** (14000 Orbs, Bruising Weapon Needed) Your Character strikes demon for an automatic hit that deals four times as much damage. If the demon does not die outright, he instead falls prone and the damage is still dealt. (2 AP) --- Rank Three Moves **Atom Bomb** (21000 Orbs, Fire Weapon Needed) Your Character shoves weapon in the ground and a large explosion centered at him that reaches 10 Meters in a circle around him hits everything he wants to be hit. The Character and whatever he does not want to hit take no damage but the demons take 20 Damage and fall prone if not dead. (3 AP) **Quicksilver** (30000 Orbs, Slicing/Penetrating Weapon Needed) Your Character moves five times his speed an can attack up to five demons one time, or five times one demon etc. (3 AP) **Dice 'Em** (20000 Orbs, Slicing Needed) Your Character slices a 5 by 5 Meter square into the air and for a straight line up to 15 Meters long. Any demon in that line is dealt as much damage as the weapon does and is thrown back 15 Meters. (3 AP) **Controlled Throw** (25000 Orbs) Your Character throws the weapon he is wielding and the weapon attacks by itself. It can attack up to the amount of Action points the wielder had when he threw the weapon and the weapon returns when the thrower wants or when the thrower gets damaged. (2 AP) **Let there be Blood** (25000 Orbs) Your Character critically hits a demon with his weapon. If there is a demon within 3 Meters of the hit demon, then he critically hits that demon and this process repeats until there are either no demons alive or he cant reach any demons. (3 AP) #### Gunslinger Moves: Rank One Moves **Double Aim** (2000 Orbs, One Handed Weapon Needed) Your character can shoot two enemies with one hit for normal damage. (1 AP) **Focused Aim** (5000 Orbs) Your character finds the weak spot of a demon, making the hit an automatic critical. (1 AP) **Executioner's Line** (7500 Orbs) Your character draws a straight line up to the gun's range, any demon in that line is hit and takes normal damage. (1 AP) **Overheated Shot** (7500 Orbs) Your character deals four times as much damage with a normal shot. (2 AP) \page --- Rank Two Moves **Bulletstorm** (12000 Orbs) Your character spins around and releases a barrage of bullets, hitting anything that is around him. (2 AP) **Bouncy Shells** (14000 Orbs) Your character can hit up to three enemies with a single hit. (2 AP) **Full Metal Jacket** (14000 Orbs) Your character's gun's damage is doubled until his next round. (2 AP) --- Rank Three Moves **Bodyboard** (17000 Orbs) The character kicks a demon to the ground dealing one damage. If the demon is not killed outright, the character uses the demon as a board and takes one damage for every meter moved until he is killed. The character can still shoot and be hit and if he is hit he releases the demon. (2 AP) **Deadeye** (18000 Orbs) The character finds the spot for an instant kill, pick a demon and the shot deals six times as much damage and if the demon is not killed outright, the next attack against that demon will deal four times as much damage. (3 AP)

#### Royal Guard Moves: Rank One Moves **Block** (Free) You break the attack, halving the damage dealt. (1 DP) --- Rank Two Moves **Riposte** (6000 Xp) When you get hit by an opponent and you use this move, you get to do a normal attack (2 DP) **Absorb** (5000 Xp) You absorb half damage from the attack, roll a d6. On a 5+ you get healed by half the damage you absorbed to a minimum of 1 Hit Point) (2 DP) --- Rank Three Moves **Right Back At 'Ya!** (12000 Orbs) When you get hit roll a d6. On a 6+ you ignore all damage and deal that amount of damage to the attacker. (3 DP) ``` ``` #### Trickster Moves: Rank One Moves **Dash** (Free) You can move twice your speed (1 DP) --- Rank Two Moves: **Powerdash** (2000 Orbs) You can move up to four times your speed. (1 DP) --- Rank Three Moves: **Transmission** (8000 Orbs) You teleport behind a demon. (3 DP) **Doppelganger** (10000 Orbs) When a demon attacks you, a spectral visage of you takes the hit and allows you to do a normal attack back at them. (1 AP + 1 DP) ### Making your own moves. If your Storyteller allows it, you can make your own moves and how they work. It is up to the Storyteller to aproove them and their AP or DP and Orb Cost. \page ### Character Creation In DMC: Slite and Dice you create your own hunter as mentioned before. In order to make a “legal” character, you must follow the steps, not in order but follow the steps. #### Step 1. Race You begin by picking a race. Each race gives you a different things to choose.

#### Hybrids Hybrids are children of Demons and Humand, they are very rare, being only four of them in Devil May Cry, those being Dante, Vergil, Nero and Matier. You can be Half-Demon or Quarter Demon, each with their own perks. #### Half-Demon As a Half-Demon Hybrid, you gain the following features ▪ You get 4 Ranks to split between Styles ▪ You get Devil Trigger ▪ You get 20 Ranks to split between Skills ▪ You start with 50 Hit Points #### Quarter-Demon As a Quarter-Demon Hybrid, you gain the following features ▪ You get 3 Ranks to Split between Styles ▪ You get Devil Trigger ▪ You get 25 Ranks to split between Skills ▪ You start with 40 Hit Points #### Humans Humans are the most common of the bunch. They do not get as many cool abilities as the other races but are very versatile and have more advanced skills. ▪ You get 2 Ranks to split between Styles ▪ You get 30 Ranks to split between Skills You have 30 Hit Points #### Step 2. Style There are four Styles in the game, each rated from 0-3: **Swordmaster** (skill with weapons) **Gunslinger** (skill with firearms) **Trickster** (your acrobatic/dodging ability) **Royal Guard** (physical defense/countering) A level of 0 represents little to no ability in that area, 1 is top human ability, 2 is superhuman, and 3 is master. You get 3 to 2 Ranks depending on your race to split between your styles at creation. Additional levels can be bought later. #### Step 3. Demeanor Each character also has a Demeanor, which is a one-word description of their personality. Each attitude gives a bonus to a certain area. **Stylish**: characters (like Dante) are damn good, and everyone knows it. Their cocky attitude can be a pain, but they get the job done, and look damn good doing it. Stylish charcters get an orb(xp) bonus for combos. **Broody**: characters (like Virgil) are your moody loner swordsmen types. They tend to bring everyone else down with their depressing attitude. Broody tend to be a little more focused on their training, and can build moves at a lower cost. **Manic**: characters are just happy to be here. They loves them the killin'. Manic characters get a bonus to damage dealt with. **Focused**: characters like Lady want to destroy something of someone, and God help anyone who gets in their way. Focused characters get bonus actions during combat. #### Step 4. Starting Equipment and Moves. In any game you play, you start with a few things. We recommend you start with a ranged weapon and a melee weapon and about 15000 Orbs worth of moves but your Storyteller will usually tell you how much of what you get at character creation. #### Step 5. Luck, Movement and Health. In addition to all the stuff before, your character has a couple other stuff. First of all, luck. Luck can be used for rerolling failed rolls, any rolls. You get 3 Luck points that you can use any time for the duration of the session. You replenish your Luck points until the next session. Movement is how much you can move. 1 Meter of Movement is considered 1 Centimeter or 1 Inch, depends on what measuring system you use. Your movement is determined by your Trickster Style Times Three. Your Health is determined by your health and can be increased by buying Blue Orbs, which increase your maximum healthy by 10. #### Step 6. Determining Stats Your stats are different from your Style or Skills. Stats are used in combination with your skills in trials, except if it is some specific skills. These stats are Brawn, Smarts, Agility and Charisma. They start with one rank and can reach up to 3. You get 5 Points to spend on stats and can be increased later on using Orbs. Same for skills, skills can be increased using Orbs. #### Step 7. Skills Every character has Four Stats, those being Brawn, Smarts, Agility and Charisma. These “Parent” stats are the first part of a dice pool used for trials, the other half is skills. Depending on your race, you get different amounts of Ranks to spend on starting skills. The minimum you can have on a skill is One, which is how many ranks a skill starts at, and can reach a maximum of five ranks \page ##### Skills | Skill|Parent Stat| Description | |:----|:-------------|-: | Acrobatics | Agility |The Skill that allows you to do stylish and precise jumps. | Athletics |Brawn | The Skill that allows you to lift, move and break heavy objects. | Awareness | Smarts | The Skill that allows you to perceive your surroundings for any danger. | Mockery | Charisma | The Skill that allows you to craft creative insults and sling them at your enemy. | Computers | Smarts | The Skill that allows you to use Computers and other electronics properly. |Craft |Smarts| The Skill that allows you to craft and repair things, big or small. |Drive |Agility| The Skill that allows you to drive percisely and perform risky tricks. |Firearms| Gunslinger| The Skill that allows you to shoot and use firearms precisely and correct. |Dodge| Trickster| The Skill that allows you to dodge hits perfectly. |Intimidate |Charisma| The Skill that allows you to scare people and creatures. |Investigate|Smarts| The Skill that allows you to find hidden things and people. |Medicine|Smarts| The Skill that allows you to heal people with out being in debt and wasting 15 Yearsof your life. |Melee| Blademaster| The Skill that allows you to use swords and other melee weapons with great skill| |Parry| Royal Guard| The Skill that allows you to defend yourself from melee hits at perfect time. |Persuade|Charisma| The Skill that allows you to change people's opinions and thinkings. |Reseach|Smarts| The Skill that allows you to read and find information with no problem. |Seduce| Charisma| The Skill that allows you to flirt without looking like a creep. |Sleight of Hand| Agility/ Trickster| The Skill that allows you to do fast movements with your hands and swipe things like swiper the fox. |Sneak| Agility/ Trickster| The Skill that allows you to hide properly and not be detected easily. ``` ``` #### Leveling up In **DMC: Slice and Dice**, you do not level up like other games. Traits are used to buff, debuff and customize characters. You start with 500 Orbs to spend for the Traits and you can get more Orbs for traits by buying Negative Traits which give minor or major Debuffs permanently for the character. #### Positive Traits Here are the Positive Traits you can pick from. ##### Buff (200 Orbs) Any Brawn Trial you do, you can reroll one dice. In addition to that, Roleplay wise, your character is more muscular and well built. ##### Agile (300 Orbs) In any Agility Trial you, you can reroll one dice and your speed increases by 5. In addition to that, Roleplay wise, you are much more thin and more dexterous. ##### Driving Expertise (100 Orbs) You are better at driving that anyone else. Your skills allow you move double your vehicle's speed and do not require any Driving Trial when you drive a vehicle. ##### Sturdy (400 Orbs) You need to succeed an Agility Trial with the Target Number of 1, no matter the Attacker's strength, when you are trying not to fall prone. ##### Rambo-Esque (300 Orbs) Your character no longer needs two free hands in order to use two handed wapons, meaning you can one-hand two-handed weapons. In addition to that, your Firearms skill requires half as much Orbs to level up. ##### Good With Words You are very charismatic. You can add 1 Dice in any pool involving Charisma. In addition to that, you have a knack for roasting people and demons. ##### Good With Swords (100 Orbs) Your skills with the melle weapons are excellent. Like the Rambo-Esque trait, you require half as many orbs to level up in the Melee Skill. \page #### Negative Traits Here are the Negative Traits you can pick from. ##### Cold (-200 Orbs) You are Cold and unsociable. Remove one dice in every Trial that involves Charisma. ##### Fragile (-200 Orbs) You take an extra point of damage in every hit. ##### Missing Arm (-500 Orbs) You are missing an arm. This means that you are limited as to how many things you can do at a time and also how many weapons you can wield at a time. Though this Trait can be countered with prosthetics which can be weaponized, like Nero's Devil Breakers ##### Missing Leg (-400 Orbs) You are missing a leg. This obviously means your ability to move is harder but not imposible. If you are not wearing any Prostethics then your speed is reduced to half and you have to remove 3 Dice from any dice pool involving Agility to a minimum of 1. ##### Quadraplegic (-700 Orbs) You are paralyzed from the waist down. Both of your legs don't work and it can not be fized like the last two. You are Wheelchair bound. This Trait is especially nasty since it is uncurable. However, while Devil Trigger, this and the other two traits are not applied while in Devil Trigger. ##### Missing Eye (-200 Orbs) You are missing an eye. Any ranged attack requires an extra AP to do. This trait cannot be fixed. ##### Deaf (-500 Orbs) You are utterly deaf. This trait is not reccommended for players with no good Roleplaying skill as this requires you to get creative. You can use sign language and say that you can read lips to understand what other people say. This also makes it impossible for you to use the Awareness skill. ### Devil Trigger People with the blood of demons in them can embrace their demonic heritage and temporarily take the form of a demon, becoming stronger and more powerful. This form is called devil trigger and both Half Demons and Quarter Demon get this. Activating devil trigger is simple. For every 10 Damage taken or dealt, you get a **Devil Trigger Point**, you can have a maximum of 10 Devil Trigger Points. When you activate Devil Trigger you spend a Devil Trigger Point and you can stay in Devil Trigger for one round by spending one point, if you do not have any points left you turn human. In addition to that, you cannot get any more devil trigger points while in Devil Trigger. When they activate devil trigger, they gain an ability that they can pick from (Or make if they want), double all damage they deal and max all of their Brawn and Agility skills and stats. ``` ``` #### Sin Devil Trigger Sin Devil Trigger is activated by specific actions (Discuss it with your Storyteller how your character can unlock devil trigger). In order to activate Sin Devil Trigger you must do that specific action in order to unlock Sin Devil Trigger. When activate Sin Devil Trigger. you spend 2 Devil Trigger Points per turn while in Sin Devil Trigger. In Sin Devil Trigger, you cannot get dealt damage and your damage quadruples. Your appearance is much more demonic, looking like a Balrog from Lord of the Rings but with more spikes and fire. #### Devil Trigger Abilities In Devil Trigger form, you gain a special ability. Vergil's for example can summon a large amount of spectral swords. We will write down some example abilities that you can take inspiration to make your own abilities. These abilities cost action points. ##### Inferno Railgun (3 AP) You release a powerful beam from your eyes that penetrate the hardest and thickest of materials, dealing 20 Damage to the target. ##### Tide of Time (2 AP) You slow time from your view, allowing you to dodge hits with no need to use a Defence Point. This ability lasts until you exit Devil Trigger. ##### Swordstorm (2 AP) You summon 6 Swords which fly at your opponent, doing six attacks, each dealing 2 Damage. This is basically Vergil's ability. ##### Nightmare Burst (2 AP) This ability allows you to create bursts of dark energy that hit people and targets in a 20 Meter Radius. Anyone in that radius takes 1 Damage but loses all their Action and Defence Points. If you want to make your own ability, we suggest you discuss it with your Storyteller and he will say if you need to change it or not or if it is Overpowered or not.

\page ### Vehicles Vehicles in DMC are rarely seen, except Dante's Bike and Nico's Van, or used as weapons (See Cavaliere). While in Devil May Cry exploration and transportation is not really important, in **DMC: Slice and Dice** where cutscenes and mission screens are non-existent, vehicles are a bit more important. While parkouring on top of rooftops is cool, it can be boring and time consuming. They are used to keep combos going and they are used to create many different and varied playstyles. Weapons themselves have two basic stats; Size & Speed. The larger the Size, the more damage it does. The higher the Speed, the fewer APs it costs to attack. Size: Heavy (4 damage), Medium (3 damage), Light (2 damage) Speed: Slow (3 AP), Medium (2 AP), Fast (1 AP) Each weapon can have up to two Traits. Traits are the things that make weapons stand out from each other. The companion is an animal, preferably a normal pet but more strong, with fighting capabilities but not as strong as you. This companion can be commanded by you to do some mundane and more complex things if your Storyteller believes the companion can do. \page # Chapter 3: Roleplaying Rules There is a reason this game is a Role-Playing Game. Devil May Cry is not a game which you play as one singular character in a scripted story. In Rolepaying games and hopefully this game, you play as a group of Devil Hunters, sent in different adventures usually with a theme or overarchins tory, like the Devil May Cry anime adaptation. This game is supposed tobe like Call of Cthulhu in a way, wher you play as characters who investigate and fight otherwordly things and dangers, in this case demons. The game is more combat heavy than other ones, which you try to do combos, have moves, can turn into a stronger form and fight hordes and hordes of enemies. ### Branches and Locations In the games, Devil May Cry is a sort of organization, with different branches in different locations of the world. In this game you are a Branch of the organization. There are no special rules for playing as a branch of a specific location and stuff but usually the location determines what kind of stuff you have access to. For example, if you play in a rich country you might have access to better equipment like good computers, vehicles and other stuff. If you are in a less rich country you might don't even get to get a computer and vehicles are owned by the 1%. You do not have to play in an existing country or city like London or Brazil for example, all the Devil May Cry games are set in fictional locations in the modern world like Fortuna or Red Grave City. ### Roleplaying Between Players There are not many rules for that nor there should be. They can play as their characters talking and interacting with eachother. However, we suggest for Storytellers to not condone PvP without consent and for Players to not do PvP unless both players consent to it. ### Roleplaying Between NPCs Like the last segment, there are not many rules about Roleplaying. It is up for to the Storyteller and Players to say how the conversation will go. Combat between NPCs and Players is not major thing. However, the act of Murderhoboing, where a player for no reason kills a friendly or even indifferent NPC should not be tolerated. If the storyteller says that the NPC is hostile against them, the Players have motivation and maybe a good reason to attack the NPC. ### Character Creation Stuff There are four things you can add to your character that will have a point in Roleplaying. These four are Personality Traits, Goals, Connections and Flaws. Personality traits are small quirks like "Loves Fishfood" or "He eats its his Nails". They are just flavor for your character. Goals are what they want to achieve. Things like "Wants to Achieve power" or "Wants to find his lost Sister" fit in this category. Connections are small bonds or relationships with NPC's. If a character has a wide or crush and it is important to him, better write it down here. Your storyteller can use it for the Story of the campaign you are playing. Flaws are imperfections of your characters personality. Arrogance, Cockyness and being Overly Emotional are usch flaws but you can get creative. All of these things can be used by the Storyteller for various reasons so it is good to write them down.

### Downtime Downtime is the small amount of time your character has to train and do their own things. Things like repairing vehicles to get in peak condition, crafting weapons and training are things you can do in your Downtime. it is the best for everyone in the table to say the Storyteller what they do in their Downtime and it happens instantly, no need for any Roleplaying in between or taking up time from the rest of the session's time. ### Death When a character reaches 0 Hit Points, they fall unconcious. This means they cannot move until the end of the fight, which they regain 5 Hit Points. If during this unconcious stage they take any damage, they die. When a character dies, they cannot be played. However, with the use of a Yellow Orb you can revive dead characters and bring people who are unconcious to full Health. \page # Chapter 4: Foes and Bosses In this chapter, you will find the stats of common enemies from all Devil May Cry games and the rules for bossfights but also their Devil Arms. You do not have to use these monsters but it is highly recommended you do to make preparations for the game much easier.
