## ISSUE: Reset.001 **7/16/2025** ## Emergence Session Recap **Featuring:** Wick, Boris, Karakas, Barney, Orren, (Nick Kage) **Special Guest Stars:** Shio & Seg --- ### Tattoos, Bad Ideas, and the Deaf Genius Emergence team wandered the streets on a **quest for tattoos**, with Shio tagging along, searching for Seg. Instead, they met **a crew of artists**, one whoms unable to hear a single sound. - **Solution?** Shio whips out the **Horn of the Unicorn** (because, of course he does) and **regrows their eardrums**. Boris gifts Beck—the previously mute, “zombified intelligent being”—**the pleasure of sound** for the first time. > _Fun Fact_: Beck’s voice is somewhere between a haunted frog and an eldritch scholar. > The **first sound** he ever heard was Boris’s **dirty, gruntled accent.** > > This is a trauma Beck will carry forever. ``` ``` ### The Musical Redemption Arc - Shio, in true **Richie Rich** demi-god mode, just treats the whole thing like “a Tuesday perk of level 20.” - Karakas side-eyes him like: *“Wish we all got tattoos for free, bro…”* - The team teases him mercilessly. **Then disaster strikes:** Boris **accidentally makes Beck’s first experience of hearing** his gravelly, post-orcish muttering. Beck is **traumatized on the spot.** - Barney is forced to “fix it” with a tune. - Karakas joins in. - Boris rolls a **Nat 20** and redeems himself with an impromptu **Duo of Destiny.** Beck’s ears calm. Totally didn’t kill them all to be lootable. Maybe.” > Seg bursts into the tattoo parlor:
> **Shio:** “Do you know how hard I was looking for you?” > **Seg:** “I blew up a quarter of the undercity… and you’re here… getting a tattoo?” - Shio now learns: **Warforged do not have souls.** - Iz sent Seg to **collect them** after a shady underworld deal went sideways. --- ### Nick Kage Side (Event) - Nick Kage leaves the unrobbed house, encounters **a herd of goats.** - **Loses page 152** of his book to one goat. - Complains he will **“never know what happens on that page.”** - Witnesses a **Large Goat walk through a regular-sized door,** while **another Giant Goat fails miserably.** - Orren is **utterly blown away.** --- ### Boris & the Fountain of Phandrix - Boris tips Beck a single gold coin. - It **lands on the tattoo needle.** - **Rolls a 19.** - Witnesses **a golden fountain** erupting as Phandrix smiles upon him. - Boris believes there is **1,100 gold at his feet.** - Beck shrugs. Boris scoops it up. --- ### Session Wrap-Up - **Orren:** Starts next session with **3 Inspiration Rolls.** - **Boris:** Rashy but rich. - **Wick:** Sore, humbled. - **Shio:** Smells the ass-kissing. Collects Seg. Returns to Strix. - **Seg:** Disappointed that Emergence treated Shio like a god. Knows better. **The undercity whispers of blood, ink, and new trouble.**
