}} # Eldritch Invocations The power of a Warlock lies not only in
their pact, but the secrets their patron reveals to them. You have unearthed eldritch invocations: fragments of forbidden or forgotten knowledge that imbue you with otherworldly magical ability. Presented below are the invocations you can learn as a Warlock, organized by level prerequisite. If an invocation has a prerequisite, then you can learn that invocation at the time you meet the prerequisite. #### Agonizing Blast

*Prerequisite: eldritch blast cantrip* ___ When you cast ***eldritch blast***, add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit. #### Armor of Shadows As an action, you can summon or dismiss magical protection. So long as you are not wearing armor or a shield, this protection grants you an Armor Class equal to 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier. #### Aspect of the Moon You no longer need to sleep and cannot be forced to sleep by any means. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you can spend all 8 hours doing light activity, such as keeping watch. #### Beguiling Influence You gain proficiency in the Deception and Persuasion skills. If you already have proficiency in one of these skills when taking this invocation, then you can add a d4 bonus die to the skill's rolls instead. The bonus die increases to a d6 at 9th level. #### Devil's Sight You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet. #### Eldritch Mind You add your Charisma modifier to Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell. #### Eldritch Sight You can cast ***detect magic*** at will, without expending a spell slot. #### Eldritch Spear When you cast a Warlock cantrip with a range beyond self, its range is doubled. #### Eyes of the Rune Keeper You can read and understand any written words, symbols, or scripts as if they were your native tongue. \column ::::::::::::::::: #### Fiendish Vigor As an action, you can gain temporary hit points equal to your Warlock level + your Charisma modifier. #### Fulminating Blast

*Prerequisite: eldritch blast cantrip* ___ When you damage a creature with ***eldritch blast***, you can use your bonus action to cause other creatures within 5 feet of the target to take force damage equal to your Charisma modifier. This can only occur once per turn. #### Gaze of Two Minds As an action, you can touch a willing humanoid and perceive through its senses until the end of your next turn. As long as the creature is on the same plane of existence as you, you can use your action on subsequent turns to maintain this connection, extending the duration until the end of your next turn. While perceiving through the other creature’s senses, you benefit from any special senses possessed by that creature, and you are blinded and deafened to your own surroundings. #### Gift of the Depths You can breathe underwater, and you gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed. At 5th level, you can cast ***water breathing*** once without expending a spell slot. You regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. #### Grasp of Hadar

*Prerequisite: eldritch blast cantrip* ___ When you damage a large or smaller creature with ***eldritch blast***, you can pull it up to 10 feet toward you in a line. This invocation can pull huge creatures at 11th level. #### Rotting Grasp You can cast ***inflict wounds*** once without expending a spell slot. }} ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: When cast this way, it is considered cast at your Pact Magic spell level, and if you miss the spell attack, then you can attempt the spell again until you hit. #### Lance of Lethargy When you damage a creature with your eldritch blast, you can reduce that creature’s speed by 10 feet until the end of your next turn. A creature can only suffer this effect once per turn. #### Mask of Many Faces You can cast ***disguise self*** at will, without expending a spell slot. #### Misty Visions You can cast ***silent image*** at will, without expending a spell slot. When cast this way, the spell does not require concentration. However, if you cast this spell again, the previous illusion fades. #### Repelling Blast

*Prerequisite: eldritch blast cantrip* ___ When you damage a large or smaller creature with ***eldritch blast***, you can push the creature up to 10 feet away from you in a straight line. This invocation can push huge creatures at 11th level. #### Sight of Distant Truths You gain proficiency in the Perception and Insight skills. If you already have proficiency in one of these skills when taking this invocation, then you can add a d4 bonus die to the skill's rolls instead. The bonus die increases to a d6 at 9th level. #### Sylvan Speech You learn to speak Sylvan, and while speaking in Sylvan you can comprehend and verbally communicate with beasts. The knowledge and awareness of many beasts is limited by their intelligence, but at minimum, they can give you information about nearby locations and monsters, including whatever they can perceive or have perceived in the past day. At 7th level, you can cast ***speak with plants*** once without using a Warlock spell slot. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. #### Thief of Five Fates You can cast ***bane*** once without using a Warlock spell slot. When cast this way, the spell does not require concentration. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. At 11th level, you can cast ***bane*** at will without requiring concentration. However, if you cast this spell again, all previous instances end. #### Improved Pact Weapon

*Prerequisite: Pact of the Blade feature* ___ The weapon you summon with your Pact of the Blade feature gains a +1 bonus to its attack and damage rolls, unless it is a magic weapon that already has a bonus to those rolls. These bonuses increase to +2 at 5th level, +3 at 11th level, and +5 at 20th level. Additionally, the options of weapons you can conjure now includes a shortbow, longbow, light crossbow, or heavy crossbow. If your **Pact Weapon** is a magic weapon and already has a bonus to attack and damage rolls, then you can instead pick an alternative form the weapon can take when you summon it. The form must deal the same damage type as the weapon’s original form. For example, a magic club could be transformed into a warhammer, a maul, or a mace, but not a longsword or a spear. You choose this form when you choose this invocation, and can only change the form when you gain a Warlock level. The transformation is not permanent, and the weapon returns to its original form if you break your bond with it as your **Pact Weapon**. #### Voice of the Master

*Prerequisite: Pact of the Chain feature* ___ You can communicate telepathically with your **Pact Familiar** and perceive through your familiar’s senses as long as you are on the same plane of existence. }} #### Rebuke of the Talisman

*Prerequisite: Pact of the Talisman feature* ___ When the wearer of your **Pact Talisman** is hit by an attacker you can see within 30 feet of the wearer, you can use your reaction to deal psychic damage to the attacker equal to your proficiency bonus. Additionally, if the attacker is large or smaller, you may also push them up to 10 feet away from the talisman’s wearer. #### Book of Ancient Secrets

*Prerequisite: Pact of the Tome feature* ___ Your **Pact Tome** gains two new pages, each detailing one 1st-level ritual spell of your choice from any class spell list. These spells count as Warlock spells for you, but they don't count against your total number of spells known. You can also cast a Warlock spell you know as a ritual if it has the ritual tag. You can also add additional ritual spells to your **Pact Tome**, so long as the ritual spell is equal to the level of your Pact Magic spell slots or lower. To do so, you perform a ritual during which you burn one scroll detailing the ritual spell and 50 gp worth of incense per level of the spell. This ritual takes an amount of hours equal to the spell’s level, but it need not be continuous. After the ritual is complete, a page detailing the spell appears in your **Pact Tome** permanently. #### Cloak of Atrophy

*Prerequisite: 5th level* ___ As a bonus action, you can surround yourself with an aura of death and decay. This aura must appear repulsive, but can otherwise look how you wish: a buzzing cloud of insects, a slimy collection of tentacles, a floating mass of darting eyes, or something    else. The aura extends 5 feet from you in every    direction, but not through total cover. It lasts    until you’re incapacitated or you dismiss         it as a bonus action.          The aura grants you advantage
           in Intimidation checks but
          disadvantage on \column all other Charisma checks. Any other creature that starts its turn in the aura takes necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1 damage). Once you use this invocation, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. #### Mire the Mind

*Prerequisite: 5th level* ___ You can cast ***slow*** once without using a Warlock spell slot. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. #### One with Shadows

*Prerequisite: 5th level* ___ You can cast ***invisibility*** without expending a spell slot. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. When cast this way, you can target only yourself and it lasts so long as you are in an area of dim light or darkness. At 9th level, it is no longer limited to once per long rest, but the other stipulations still apply. #### Sign of Ill Omen

*Prerequisite: 5th level* ___ You can cast ***bestow curse*** once without using a Warlock spell slot. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. #### Tomb of Levistus

*Prerequisite: 5th level* ___ As a reaction when you take damage, you can entomb yourself in ice, which melts away at the end of your next turn. You gain 10 temporary hit points per Warlock level, which take as much of the triggering damage as possible. Immediately after you take the damage, you gain vulnerability to fire damage, your speed is reduced to 0, and you are incapacitated. If you lose all of your temporary hit points granted by this effect, then the ice melts early. These effects, including any remaining temporary hit points, all end when the ice melts. Once you use this invocation, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. When you have no uses of this invocation remaining, you can expend one of your Pact Magic spell slots to use this invocation again. #### Undying Servitude

*Prerequisite: 5th level* ___ You can cast ***animate dead*** without using a spell slot. Once you do so, you can’t cast it in this way
again until you finish a long rest. #### Eldritch Smite

*Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Chain feature* ___ Whenever you or your **Pact Familiar** regain hit points while you are within 60 feet of each other, treat any dice rolled to determine the hit points you or your familiar regain as having rolled their maximum value. #### Chainbound Fortitude

*Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Chain feature* ___ At the end of each long rest, you can perform a minute-long ritual with your **Pact Familiar** to gain protection through your pact. At the end of this ritual, choose one statistic. You gain advantage on associated saving throws while within 5 feet of your familiar. You can perform this ritual again at the end of another long rest and choose a new saving throw to gain advantage on. When you do so, your advantage on the previous choice ends. #### Elemental Eye

*Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Talisman feature* ___ The talisman of your patron hungers for elemental essence. As a reaction to receiving cold, fire, lightning, thunder, poison, or acid damage, the wearer of your **Pact Talisman** can gain resistance to the triggering damage type. This resistance lasts for 1 hour, or until the wearer uses this reaction again. This benefit can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and all expended uses are restored when you finish a short or long rest. #### Wellspring of Magic

*Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Talisman feature* ___ Your talisman can briefly become a river of pure magic. As an action, the wearer of your **Pact Talisman** can recover one or multiple expended spell slots. The regained spell slots must have a combined total equal to or less than the level of one of your Pact Magic spell slots. Once this invocation is used, it cannot be used again until you finish a long rest. #### Far Scribe

*Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Tome feature* ___ New pages appear in your **Pact Tome**. With your permission, a creature can use its action to write its name on those pages, which can contain a number of names equal to your proficiency bonus. You can cast the ***sending*** spell, targeting a creature whose name is on the page, without using a spell slot and without using material components. To do so, you must write the message on the page. The target hears the message in their mind, and if the target replies, their message appears on the page and in your mind. You can keep the writing in your tome until you remove it as an action. As an action, you can magically erase a name on the page by touching it. #### Stolen Prayer

*Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Tome feature* ___ A new page appears in your **Pact Tome** detailing a single Channel Divinity option of your choice from those available to any Cleric Divine Domain at 2nd level. You use your Warlock level and spell save DC for the Cleric level or spell save DC. You can invoke this Channel Divinity once per short or long rest. #### Bewitching Whispers

*Prerequisite: 7th level* ___ You can cast ***compulsion*** once without using a Warlock spell slot. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. #### Dreadful Word

*Prerequisite: 7th level* ___ You can cast ***confusion*** once without using a Warlock spell slot. You can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. #### Ghostly Gaze

As a bonus action, you can magically teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see within 5 feet of the target cursed by your ***hex*** spell or by a Warlock feature of yours, such as Hexblade’s Curse or Sign of Ill Omen. To teleport in this way, you must be able to see the cursed target. #### Sculptor of Flesh

*Prerequisite: 9th level* ___ You can cast ***speak with dead*** at will, without expending a spell slot. #### Sword of the Scholars

*Prerequisite: 9th level, Pact of the Blade feature* ___ You bind your magic within the eldritch steel of your **Pact Weapon**. As an action when wielding your **Pact Weapon**, you can cast a spell using one of your Pact Magic spell slots and bind the spell within your weapon. The spell cast must cost an action or a bonus action, and when the spell is cast this way, the spell has no immediate effect but the spell slot is expended. The spell still requires any verbal, somatic, or material components when casting the spell into your weapon. At any point thereafter, while holding your **Pact Weapon**, you can use an action to cast the spell without expending a spell slot or requiring any spell components outside of your weapon. The spell operates as it would if cast normally: allowing you to target creatures freely, affect a specific area, hold concentration, depending on the spell's effects. Alternatively, if you take the Attack action, you can cast the stored spell in place of one of your attacks. When cast as a part of the Attack action, if the spell can target multiple individual creatures or must target multiple individual creatures to function, then it only affects your attack's target, and the ability of the spell to target more than one creature is wasted. If it is an area of effect spell, then it is centered on your target. Once you cast the spell from your **Pact Weapon**, the bound spell is expended and you must bind a spell into your weapon again. When a spell is cast from your weapon using this invocation, it always costs an action (or one of your attacks), even if cost an action or bonus action before. Additionally, if you choose to bind a new spell within your **Pact Weapon** while it is already bound with spell, the previous spell is wasted. #### Favor of the Master

*Prerequisite: 9th level, Pact of the Chain feature* ___ You grant your **Pact Familiar** a measure of your power. At the end of a long rest, choose one Warlock spell you know of 1st level or higher. Your familiar can cast it once at a level equal to your Pact Magic spell slots without expending a spell slot. #### Mark of Protection

*Prerequisite: 9th level, Pact of the Talisman feature* ___ When the wearer of your **Pact Talisman** fails a saving throw, they can add a d6 to the roll, potentially turning the save into a success. If a creature succeeds on a saving throw this way, and would normally take half damage from the effect, they instead take no damage. This benefit can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and all expended uses are restored when you finish a short or long rest. *Prerequisite: 9th level, Pact of the Tome feature* ___ A new page appears in your **Pact Tome**. With your permission, a creature can use its action to write its name on that page, which can contain a number of names equal to your proficiency bonus. When any creature whose name is on the page is reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, the creature magically drops to 1 hit point instead. Once this magic is triggered, no creature can benefit from it until you finish a long rest. As an action, you can magically erase a name on the page by touching it. #### Covenant of the Boon

*Prerequisite: 12th level, eldritch invocations increase* ___ You invest a portion of your deepest magic in your patron to receive a new catalyst of their power. You gain an additional **Pact Boon** from the list of Warlock **Pact Boons**. If a class feature or invocation has prerequisites that involve a selected **Pact Boon**, then you now meet those requirements. You cannot gain a **Pact Boon** that you already have. This investment of power is arduous, complex, and very permanent. You can only gain this invocation when your maximum number of Warlock invocations increase. Additionally, when you gain this invocation, you cannot swap it for another upon leveling up, or switch any of your chosen **Pact Boons** for another **Pact Boon**. In other words, this invocation is irreversible. You can gain this invocation multiple times, acquiring a new **Pact Boon** each subsequent time. If there are no more **Pact Boons** available to you, then you cannot gain this invocation again. \column #### Claw of the Titan

*Prerequisite: 12th level* ___ You can cast ***bones of the earth*** a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, without expending a spell slot. Once this invocation’s uses are expended, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest. #### Lifedrinker

*Prerequisite: 12th level, Pact of the Blade feature* ___ When you hit a creature with your **Pact Weapon**, the creature takes extra necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1). #### Infusion of Elder Might

*Prerequisite: 12th level, Pact of the Chain feature* ___ As an action you can infuse your **Pact Familiar** with the full power of your pact. It transforms, as if by the polymorph spell, but it must use the stat block from the corresponding spell most associated with your patron or your familiar’s form on the table below. Refer to your DM on what form is most suitable. The wearer of your talisman can do the same thing, using their action to teleport to you. As a bonus action, you can conjure your **Pact Weapon** in an empty hand. Each time you conjure it, your **Pact Weapon** takes the form of a melee weapon of your choice and gains the benefits below: - You can use your Charisma modifier instead of Strength or Dexterity for attack and damage rolls with this weapon. - You are proficient with this weapon if you weren't already. - The weapon counts as magical for the sake of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks. The **Pact Weapon** disappears if it is more than 5 feet from you for 1 minute, if you conjure another **Pact Weapon**, if you dismiss your **Pact Weapon** (no action required), or if you die. You can bond a magic melee weapon as a **Pact Weapon** by performing a 1-hour ritual. You can use a bonus action to shunt it to an extradimensional space, or conjure it. When a weapon is bonded this way, the bonded weapon is the only weapon you can summon when you conjure your **Pact Weapon**. Bonding a second weapon ends the bond for any previous weapons. ### Pact of the Chain You focus your Patron's power to bind an **Pact Familiar** to your will. You learn ***find familiar*** and can cast it as a ritual, but it doesn't count against your number of Spells Known. When you cast ***find familiar***, you can choose to conjure an **Pact Familiar** from the options detailed at the end of this class, in addition to the normal forms a familiar can take. Your **Pact Familiar** is bound to obey your orders to the best of its abilities. In combat, it shares your initiative and it acts on your turn. However, it will only take the Dodge action on its turn unless you use your bonus action to command it to take an action from its stat block or another combat action. Finally, whenever you cast a Warlock spell, you can choose for the spell to originate from your familiar if you are within 60 feet. ### Pact of the Tome You focus your Patron's power into a grimoire of eldritch knowledge known as a **Pact Tome**. It contains one copy of each Warlock spell you know and this tome grants you the following benefits: - The tome allows you to take an Eldritch Invocation of your choice that has no prerequisites. This invocation doesn't count against your number of invocations known, and it cannot be replaced when you gain a Warlock level. - You can cast any Warlock spell contained within your tome as a ritual if that Warlock spell has the ritual tag. You can spend 1 hour, which can be during a short or long rest, to conjure an exact copy of your **Pact Tome**, destroying any of the previous tomes. If you die your tome turns to ash. ### Pact of the Talisman You focus your Patron’s power into a vessel from which you may channel their might, such as an amulet, a ring, or some other trinket, known as a **Pact Talisman**. When the wearer of the **Pact Talisman** fails an ability check, they can add a d4 to the roll, potentially turning the roll into a success. Additionally, if you are wearing the talisman, you may use it as an arcane focus, and you may ignore the verbal and somatic components of your Warlock spells. If the **Pact Talisman** is not on your person, you can use a bonus action to summon and adorn it. You can spend 1 hour, which can be during a short or long rest, to conjure an exact copy of your **Pact Talisman**, destroying your previous talisman if it isn’t already destroyed.
