#### some things you should know.

\page I love D&D and the mental exercise and the comradery that develops in a great team. I try to be laid back and favor story over die rolls but the roll is the roll when it comes down to it. here is are some things to consider: ## Gus's Grotesquely Gruesome Game Well met adventurers! Here is an outline of some of the rules of my games. They are based in teh 2014 core rules and They are all subject to change through civil debate before and after game sessions. My goal is to make the game as fun, believable, and FAIR as possible. Please remember... NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. If you can imagine it we can make It happen in game terms. Thanks for being at the table! ### Stats * We are playing extraordinary characters and I believe your beginning ability scores should reflect that. These methods give you a better chance of getting those better ability scores. I will roll a set from each method for you after your character has been completely created , and you may chose any set. * Standard Array +1 (16, 15, 14, 13, 11, 9) * Roll 4d6k3 x 7 keep 6 * Roll 24d6k18 ### Race Mods. #### Dragonborn * Claw attack as an action. 1d4+STR slashing when not holding a weapon or 1d4 slashing as an off hand unarmed attack. Everyone is proficient in unarmed attacks. * Base AC 13 when unarmored * Breath Weapon Recharge 5-6 on a d6 #### Ghostwise & Lightfoot Halflings * Darkvision 60' #### Shifter * May chose which "aspect of the beast form" at time of shifting and it lasts up to one hour ### Classes * Monks gain additional Ki points equal to their Wis Mod. This ki repleneshes daily at Dawn. * Monk Unarmed attacks damage die begins at d6 instead of d4 and improves to d8, d10 and 2d6 progressively (2024 rules) * Clerics may learn a number of aditional cantrips equal to their Wis Mod * Druids may wild shape a number of times equal to 1/2 their level rounded up and lasts a number of hours equal to their Level. This is ablilty is replenished by a short rest. * Wizards know extra cantrips equal to thier Int Mod. * Wizards Level up Spells are not subject to time scribing restrictions. * Rogues and Rangers recieve proficency in the "Tracking" skill. * Bardic Inspiration may be used as a bonus action or a Reaction * Barbarians may rage as a reaction or a bonus action. ``` ### Armor and Equiptment * You begin with Starting equiptmnent and starting gold OR Starting gold + 1/2 the value of your starting equiptment to buy your own equptment. * Worn armor weighs 1/2 listed weight * Don and Doff rules apply * Cannot sleep in any armor besides Leather, Hide and Padded. * Variant Encumbrance is in effect. You probably wont be able to carry everything you own so please work that out for your character. * There are no firearms in my world besides a blunderbus. ### Combat #### Initiative: * Will be re-rolled every round after every participant has had thier turn. #### Critical Hits / Fails (Rolling a 20 / 1): * Do not apply to Skill Checks. You can not automatically succeed or fail on them. * Critical Damage = Max damage Die + Damage Die + Damage Modifier * Any ability that allows you to add damage die AFTER you find your hit is confirmed is NOT doubled, for instance in the case of a clerics Divine Smite. ___ > ##### BATTLE FATIGUE If a player is reduced 0hp, when they are revived, they must make a DC15 CON save or suffer the following effects: >* 1st Revival: -2 to all D20 Tests >* 2nd Revival: -4 to all D20 Tests >* 3rd Revival: -6 to all d20 tests. Movement Reduced to Half >* 4th Revival: -8 to all d20 tests. Movement Reduced to 0 >* There is no 5th Revival. You are permanently dead. Roll a new Character >* A short rest will remove all Battle Fatigue Effects ___ ### Improved Drawing and Stowing * You may draw weapons or handle objects as part of the same action in which you usethem, provided you have a free hand (or hands if more are needed to hold the weapons of objects) before taking the action. Similarly, you can pick up a loose unattended object within your reach and use it as part of the same action. Once per turn, you can stow any or all of the weapons or objects you are holdin in your hands (no actions required). You may drop any or all objects you're holding as a reaction. \page ### Improved Two Weapon Fighting * Once on your turn when you take the Attack action and attack with melee weapon that you're holding in one hand, you can make one additional attack with a different melee weapon that your holding in the other hand as part of the same action. The Weapon in your off hand must have the light or finesse property. If either weapon has the thrown property you can throw the wepon instead of making a melee attack with it. You may still use your bonus action to use an ability or make a make an aditional attack however it without the benifit of your ability modifier to attack or damage unless you take the Dual Wielder Feat. ### Skill Checks * Deception, Insight, Persuasion, Perception, and Slight of hand, when used against fellow PCs, should be rolled secretly to the DM. * Proficiency in a skill may be required to complete a task. * Proficiency tools may be coupled with proficiency in a skill to give advantage. * You may only use the "Help" action on skill checks if you if you are proficient in the skill or tool used to complete said task * "Survival" no longer includes "Tracking". "Tracking" is it's own skill and is an optional skill at first level for Rangers and Rogues, Monks and Druids, and is also modified by wisdom. * Stealth check will be required to both move quietly and hide and/or sneak. Two rolls may be required to do both effectively * You may learn new skills based on your Intelligence bonus. Simply indicate the skill you would like to learn. You may pay for training or get another character to teach you, Practice, and eactly 2 levels from when you begin your practice and education you may gain proficiency in the skill. You may only do this one skill at a time. That means if you have the intellece modifire for it you could gain new skills at 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level. ### Spellcasting * In leu of spell components arcane spell casters may have a spell focus, except in specific situations or specific spells where in which the DM deems them necessary. Please discuss hard to find or expensive spell components with the DM * Spellcasting underwater is done as if the caster was effectted by the SLOW spell. * The Detect Magic spell does not allow you to see through objects that you can't normally see through. * You may concentrate on two spells simultainusly as long as one is defensive and one is offensive (DMs Discrecion). While you are holding concentration on two spells, you may not cast any additional spells. * A concentration check is made ad disadvantage and disrupts concentration on both spells if failed. * You may use spell points instead of spell slots if you wish. * You may cast two spells on your turn RAW. Alternatively Based on Casting Time Limitations, you may cast a second LEVELED spell in a round, however, the spell must be of LOWER level than the first spell you cast, and you forfiet your ability to cast another spell as a reaction. * If an area of effect spell covers less than a whole Grid Square, the save is made but the damage is halved. (Situational exceptions will be made) ### DM Inspiration * Must be announced BEFORE you roll your D20 Test. * Should you receive inspiration while you already have inspiration, you may instead take 50xp on the spot. At level 5 that increases to 100xp and at level 11 it increases to 150xp and at level 17 it increases to 200xp. You may also gift that inspiration to another character no action needed. ### Healing and Resting * A long rest will naturally restore 1 FULL hd+Lev+Con Bonus. Additional healing must be done by spending Hit Dice or magical means. * You regain all your Hit Dice back after a long rest. * If your long rest is inturrupted no natrual healing takes place. * You may continue your long rest after an inturrption by adding an hour to the remander of your rest * Once per Day, if you are proficient in medicine and have an herbalisim kit, You may attempt create 1 non magical healing salve During a short rest. A medicine check of 15 will yeild 1 x 2d4+CON Healing Salve. A medicine check of 20 will yeild 1 x 4d4+CON Healing Salve and a check 25 or above on the medicine check yeilds a salve that heals 8d4+CON. You may attempt to create this salve during a short rest but you may not spend hit die. Applying the salve to yourself or someone else takes an action. * When using healing potions, re-roll all 1's * During Battle, you may use your Bonus Action to drink a healing potion or throw one to an ally. You must use your Action to administer it to a creature other than yourself. ### Level Advancement * You may level up only after completing a long rest * You may choose feats instead of taking ability score improvements * Max HP at first level. Thereafter you may roll for hit points. If you roll less than, average you may take the average + CON modifier * Any Alignment is allowed but in my world Good always triumphs over evil and you will be constantly looking over your shoulder should you choose an evil alignment. just sayin. * Create your character completly and then i will roll your stats. You may take the standard array or the stats i roll, whichever statblock you prefer. * You may multiclass but only if your chosen race is one of the standard PHB races. ### Table Expectations / Misc * If you can't make a session please let the group know at least three hours prior to start time. If you ghost a game without letting anyone know you will be kicked. Be respectful of the time that we ALL set aside on game night and commuicate with your comrades if you cannot make it or will be more than 30 min late to the session.\page

*** Lastly, these rules are a guideline. Many situations will require the DM (me) to make exceptions to these rules, just as they require me to do to the rules in the official rulebooks. Dont' get your panties in a twist.***
