# Oath of the Spellbreaker There will always be those who try and gain power in the world, but among the most dangerous are those who bend magic to their will. Spellbreakers are the counter to that imbalance in the world. They are called upon when there is no one else who can stop powerful and twisted magics. Spellbreakers often find themselves in the front lines in battles filled with volleys of spells and excel where others would surely fall. *"Or maybe your magic isn't that destructive after all."* -Cal #### Tenents of the Spellbreaker The tenets of the spellbreaker act as a guide paladins of this oath live by. These tenets emphasis balance, knowledge and protection. **Protect Others.** It is your ultimate purpose to shield the world from magic abuse. **Balance Magic.** Stand against the might of magic and temper it. **Know your Enemy.** You must know your enemy in order to defeat them, and thus value knowledge. **Respect.** Respect the power of magic and never underestimate it. #### Oath Spells You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed. ##### Oath of the Spellbreaker Spells | Paladin Level | Spells | |:-:|:-:| | 3rd | *detect magic, protection from evil and good* | | 5th | *nondetection, protection from energy* | | 9th | *counterspell, dispel magic* | | 13th | *banishment, freedom of movement* | | 17th | *dispel evil and good, greater restoration* | ``` ``` #### Channel Divinity When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. ***Nullify Magic***. You can use your Channel Divinity as an action to attempt to cancel a single spell of 1st or lower level effecting a creature within 15 feet. You make a Charisma saving throw against the DC of the spell. If the spell does not normally grant a saving throw, the DC is equal to the spellcaster's spell DC. If you succeed the effect immediately ends. The highest spell level you can nullify increases by 1 for every proficiency bonus increase you gain. ***Spell Deflection***. Whenever you or a creature within 5 feet of you is the target of a spell attack, you can use your Channel Divinity as a reaction to deflect the spell towards a different target. The chosen target must be within 30 feet of you. If the new target is not a valid target for the spell then it fizzles and has no effect. If the spell requires an attack roll or saving throw, use the original caster's roll or save DC. #### Aura of Dampening Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain advantage on all saving throws to resist or end a spell effect. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. #### Spell Burn Beginning at 15th level, you have learned to use your enemies spellcasting ability against them. As an action, you attack a creature and if that creature has spell slots remaining, they must make a saving throw using their spellcasting stat. The DC for this saving throw is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charimsa modifier. If they fail, they lose concentration, if any, and 1 spell slot of the highest level spell slots they have remaining and take 1d8 damage for every level of the spell slot lost. You may use Spell Burn a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier and regain all uses on a long rest.

\page #### Antimagic Barrier At 20th level, as an action, you can surround yourself with a 10 foot radius barrier of antimagic for 1 minute. This barrier moves with you and any magic originating from one side of the barrier can't affect creatures or objects on the otherside. Such magic can target creatures, objects, and points in space on the otherside, but the magic has no effect. Similarly, the area on the other side is excluded from the areas affected by magic. Any magic item that passes through the barrier is rendered inert for 1d4 rounds. If a spell is affecting a creature or object and it passes through the barrier, that spell immediately ends.
