###### Written by Evanm \page # Chapter 1: Core Mechanics ### The Core Mechanic of the Game When a player declares an action – which includes a desired outcome and an approach anticipated to bring about that action – the GM determines the outcome and describes the result. First, the GM determines whether there is a chance that the action might succeed and a chance that the action might fail. If the GM determines the action can’t succeed, the action is a failure, though the GM may warn the player of the impossibility of the action instead. If the GM determines the action can’t fail, the action is a success. If the GM determines that the action can fail, but there is no risk or cost for failure such that the player can keep trying until they succeed, the action is a success. Otherwise, the GM uses the Core Mechanic to determine the outcome. ___ Under the Core Mechanic, based on the approach the player is using, the GM determines which Ability (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma) governs the action. The GM also determines an appropriate Difficulty Class for the action. The GM – possibly with help from the player – determines whether the character has a relevant Proficiency. The GM also determines any circumstantial Modifiers. Modifiers can include a static bonus or penalty or the roll can be made with Advantage or Disadvantage. ___ Once all of that has been determined, the player rolls 1d20 and adds the relevant Ability Modifier, Bonuses and Penalties, and their Proficiency Bonus (if relevant). If the total equals or exceeds the chosen Difficulty Class, the action succeeds. If not, the action fails. If the roll is made with Advantage, the player rolls 2d20 and uses the highest single die roll. If the roll is made with Disadvantage, the player rolls 2d20 and uses the lowest single die roll. __ If an action succeeds, the player either accomplishes their desired outcome or makes progress toward that outcome. If the action fails, the player does not accomplish their desired outcome and may suffer costs or risks associated with the roll. Regardless of the success or failure of the action, the GM may also apply consequences based on the player’s approach. The GM describes the results and applies any necessary consequences. Then play continues. ``` ``` ### The Reaction Rule A GM can use the Reaction Rule whenever a character has a moment to respond to something unexpected. The GM describes what the character is aware of. The player then describes their reaction. The GM then determines if the reaction could avoid or mitigate the unexpected event, whether it can succeed, and whether it can fail. The GM then asks for a Saving Throw or Ability Check based on the action. Any spell that can be cast as a Reaction can be used in this instance. ___ Example: *Carol is trying to sneak past a patrolling goblin to steal a valuable thing. The goblin is walking ahead of her and she’s creeping silently behind, several feet back. Unbeknownst to Carol, she has failed her stealth check and the goblin is about to turn around because he thought he heard her breathing. “Suddenly, the goblin freezes. He’s about to turn, what do you do?” Carol thinks for a minute. “Is the cave wall irregular enough? Can I hide in the folds and crevices?” The GM says, “You could, but you’ll have Disadvantage since you have to move fast.” Carol thinks and says, “I’ll whip my dagger and try to take out the goblin before he turns.” The GM says “okay, give me a ranged attack roll with Advantage since the goblin is currently unaware of you.* \page ### Group Checks When several PCs are trying to accomplish something as a group, the GM can call for a group check. First, the GM determines whether the group will succeed if any member succeeds (such as with searching) or if the group will fail if any member fails (such as with stealth). In the first scenario, the character with the highest base Ability Check modifier (Proficiency Bonus + Ability Bonus) rolls the check. In the second scenario, the character with the lowest base Ability Check modifier (Proficiency Bonus + Ability Bonus) rolls the check. If the group is attempting a task that requires the success of multiple people, all party members roll individually and if at least half the group succeeds then then they are successful. Bonuses, penalties, Advantage, and Disadvantage are applied normally to the character rolling the check, but these should only be applied after the GM has determined which player has rolled the check. ### Trained Checks Some skill checks are considered *Trained Checks* and cannot be attempted at all without Proficiency in the skill. An example of these checks may be a *History* check on some extremely obscure knowledge. ___ Other skill checks are considered *Highly Trained* checks and cannot be attempted at all without Expertise in the skill. An example of these checks may be an *Athletics check* to compete in athletic tournaments. ### Opposed Rolls When a character attempts an action that puts it in direct opposition with another character’s skills or proficiencies, the DC for the character’s action is 10 + target’s Ability Modifier + target’s Proficiency Bonus for the relevant skill. If the target has Advantage or Disadvantage on the skill, apply +5 or -5 to the DC. Any bonus that can be granted to the target’s skill roll, such as from Bardic Inspiration or from a Cleric’s bless spell may also be applied to the DC. The notation for this is an Ability (Skill) Check vs. Ability (Skill). E.g.: Roll a Dexterity (Stealth) check vs. the scout’s Wisdom (Perception). ___ Example: *Dave is trying to bluff his way past a guard. Dave would roll a Charisma check and add his Proficiency Bonus for his Deception Skill. The DC would be equal to 10 + the guard’s Wisdom modifier + the guard’s Proficiency Bonus for her Insight Skill.* ``` ``` ### Passive Proficiencies as Knowledge All Proficiencies are assumed to represent both active uses of those things and relevant background knowledge, lore, information, and awareness. When a player with a Proficiency encounters something in the game, the GM should simply give them any relevant information based on their expertise. The GM is advised to gate information based on skill proficiencies in the flavor text and descriptions of items and monsters. In addition, advanced knowledge may be gated behind specific levels of knowledge. A character’s Passive Skill is equal to 10 + Ability Modifier + Proficiency Bonus. If the character has Advantage on such skill checks, the Passive Skill gains an additional +5. If the character has Disadvantage, the character suffers an additional -5. Any bonus that can be granted to a skill roll, such as from Bardic Inspiration or from a Cleric’s bless spell may also be applied to Passive Skills. ___ Example: *This small, natural grotto is filled covered with strange glowing fungus. (Survival) The fungus is naturally occurring and harmless. (Nature) The fungus is useful for making antivenoms and medicines. (Medicine).* ___ Example: *A skeletal creature wrapped in tattered linens with glowing eyes. (Religion 20) The creature is not a skeleton. It’s a lich. Liches are powerful magic users that have turned themselves into undead creatures. They retain their spellcasting abilities and have other abilities such as… (Religion) The creature does not appear to be a normal skeleton at all.* ### Called Shot Whenever a player wishes to do some kind of combat stunt, such as crippling a leg, cutting off a tail, blinding an eye, etc. the DM must first determine if it is possible. If it is and the character already has advantage on their attack roll, a called shot can be performed. The attack is rolled as if it had disadvantage. If it hits, it deals half damage and causes the intended effect. ### Working Together When two or more characters work together to accomplish the same task, the character with the higher modifier leads the effort. The leader makes the appropriate ability check with advantage for one helper, with an additional +2 bonus for each helper after that. Depending on the task being performed there may be a limit to how many helpers the leader can have. Characters can only work together if it is task where such help is feasible and possible. In addition, a character can only help with a task if they would not be incapable of attempting the task on their own (due to a lack of Proficiency for instance). \page # Chapter 2: Rule Changes ### Actions #### Interference While you are grappling or restraining a creature of your size or smaller, you can use a bonus action to make it difficult for the grappled creature to speak, see, or perform complex movements or movements requiring the use of both hands. Until the start of your next turn the grappled creature is either unable to see, unable to speak, unable to perform somatic spell components, or loses the use of one of its hands. This restriction ends when the grapple does. #### Defending against a Grapple The initial defending roll to successfuly resist a grapple by another creature can be performed with either Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) but once a creature has been successfully grappled or restrained it must use Strength (Athletics) to escape. #### Restraining While grappling a creature, you can attempt to pin it by succeeding on another grapple check against it, restraining the creature and reducing your speed to 0. A creature larger than you cannot be restrained in this way. ``` ``` ### Carrying Capacity and Encumbrance You can carry up to 5 + your Strength score in item slots without penalty. Above that limit, you are lightly encumbered, and your speed is reduced by 5’. While lightly encumbered, racial speed modifiers have no effect, and you cannot beneit from any passive bonus to speed such as Unarmored Movement, although you can still benefit from temporary effects such as spells. While you are carrying more than 20 + your Strength score, you are heavily encumbered, decreasing your speed by 10’, and giving you disadvantage on attack rolls, Dexterity and Strength saving throws, and all physical ability checks. While you are carrying more than 30 + your Strength score, you are over-encumbered, and your speed becomes 0. For races with the Powerful Build racial trait, all encumbrance thresholds increase by 10 slots. For larger creatures, encumbrance thresholds increase by 10 slots for each size category above Medium. For a creature pulling a vehicle, its load counts as 10 slots less per each axle of the vehicle. The first 5 item slots in your list, plus up to 100 coins or gems, are considered to be on your belt, pockets, or otherwise easily available. The rest are in your backpack, and cannot be retrieved without using an action to dig through the backpack. * Normal items take up one slot: one-handed weapons, shields, arcane foci, lanterns, waterskins, flasks of oil, bedrolls, hunting traps, quivers (with up to 20 ammunition), etc. * Light items can be bundled up to 5 items in one slot: torches, rations, small vials, daggers, handaxes. * Coins and gems can be bundled up to 100 in one slot. * Heavy items take up two slots: weapons with the heavy property, as well as tents, chests and ladders. * Light Armor takes up no slots, Medium armor takes up 2 slots, and heavy armor 4 slots. * Tiny items such as paper, quills, and anything that can be fit in your palm does not count towards encumbrance, nor do empty bags, nor does worn clothing, light armor or jewelry. #### Encumbrance Table | Slots Threshold | Speed Category | Speed | |:----:|:-------------| | - | Normal | Normal | | Strength score +10 | Lightly encumbered | 20' | | Strength score +20 | Lightly encumbered | 10'| | Strength score +30 | Heavily encumbered | 0' | As an action you may choose to drop your backpack on the ground, freeing you of the encumbrance of all its contents. An action is required to put your backpack on again. \page ### Combat #### Armor Class You lose your Dexterity bonus to armor class when you are *Blinded* (Unless you have Blindsight), *Paralyzed*, *Restrained* *Incapacitated*, *Stunned*, or *Unconscious*. #### Power Attack Once per turn before you make a proficient melee weapon attack, you can choose to take a penalty on the attack roll equal to your proficiency bonus. If the attack hits, add twice your proficiency bonus to the attack's damage. #### Mounted Combat You have advantage on melee weapon attack rolls against any unmounted creature that is smaller than your mount. ___ Wielding a weapon with the heavy property while on a mount confers disadvantage on attack rolls using that weapon. ___ If you make an attack roll while mounted, the only actions your mount can take that turn are the Dash, Dodge, or Disengage actions. #### Opportunity Attacks You can use your Opportunity Attack to shove or grapple. ___ Prone creatures cannot make opportunity attacks. #### Saving Throws Saving Throw Difficulty Classes (DCs) begin at 10 + proficiency bonus + relevant ability sore modifier. #### Two-Weapon Fighting When you take the Attack action while holding a weapon in each hand and at least one of those weapons has the *light* property, you can add the damage die of your off-hand weapon to all attacks you make this turn. ### Concentration Concentration checks are performed by rolling 1d20 + your Proficiency Bonus vs the higher of DC 10 or half the damage taken. ### Conditions #### Blinded * Blind creatures must make a DC 15 Acrobatics check to move faster than half speed or fall prone at the end of their movement. ___ #### Deafened * A deafened creature must succeed on a concentration check to cast any spell with a verbal component. ___ #### Restrained * A restrained character who attempts to cast a spell with material or somatic components must succeed on a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check equal to 10 + the spell's level (minimum of 1) or waste the spell. ``` ``` ### Death and Dying #### Instant Death Massive damage can kill you instantly. When damage reduces you to 0 hit points and there is damage remaining, you die if the remaining damage equals or exceeds up to half your hit point maximum. #### Dropping to 0 hit points If you are reduced to 0 hit points and the damage fails to kill you, you gain a level of exhaustion and begin making Death Saving Throws vs DC 15 at the end of each of your turns. At three successes you remain unconcious for 1d4 hours but are stabilized. Then everyone rolls initiative on a 1d10 and the result is modified by the speed factors taken. On your turn, you take the action you declared, plus any movement. Alternatively, if you choose not to take your declared action you can abort it and choose to Dash/Dodge/Disengage instead. ___ You must declare your action and any bonus actions or object interactions you want to take, however you only modify your initiative by the slowest action. If you want to ready an action, apply the modifier of the action you want to take. ``` ``` ### Morale During combat, monsters, henchmen, and any other NPCs may be put in a situation where they fear the outcome of the battle, and they think of retreat. In large groups of creatures, they may be kept in line by a harsh leader but become cowards if he is defeated. In this situation monsters, monster leaders, or monster groups make Morale Checks. ___ #### When Morale Checks are Made * Surprised by overwhelming force (check on the 1st round of combat in which they can act). * Taking significant losses. * Leadership defeated. * Persuaded with leverage (a bribe, offer to join, etc.) * No escape route. * Reduced to less than half hp. ___ Some creatures may have advantage or disadvantage on their morale check depending on the circumstances of their situation or their treatment by their enemies or their leaders. A +2 or -2 bonus to the check might be assigned based on these circumstances. * Treated favorably by leader * Treated poorly be leader * Defending lair * Defensive terrain advantage * Fighting natural enemy * Unable to affect opponent #### The Morale Check The DM makes a morale check by rolling 2d6 vs the creatures' Morale Score. If the dice roll over the score, they flee, if they roll under, they hold. Creatures that roll a 12 fight to the end. ##### Rolling Morale | Morale Score | Bravery | |:----:|:-------------| | 12| Mindless | | 11| Fanatic | | 9 | Brave | | 7 | Steady | | 5 | Nervous | | 3 | Coward | | 2 | Non-combatant | ### Object Interactions #### Interacting with an object in combat When a creature tries to interact with an object in a space occupied by a hostile creature it must make a Strength or Dexterity check opposed by the hostile creature's Strength or Dexterity check. On a success, the creature can successfuly interact with the object. On a failure, the hostile creature either stops the object from being interacted with, or gains the ability to interact with the object itself as a reaction. \page ### Resting #### Hit Dice A character has a number of Hit Dice equal to their level. Hit Dice can be spent during rests to regain Hit Points. For each Hit Die spent, the player rolls the die and adds the character’s Constitution modifier to it. The character regains hit points equal to the total. #### Short Rest A short rest is a period of downtime, at least 10 minutes long, during which a character does nothing more strenuous than eating, drinking, reading, and tending to wounds. At the end of a short rest a character can spend Hit Dice up to 1/2 their level (rounded up). Class features regained from short rests can only be regained in this manner 2 times per long rest. A character must have at least 1 hit point at the start of the rest to gain its benefits. #### Long Rest A long rest is a period of extended downtime, at least 8 hours long, during which a character performs only light activity: sleeping, reading, talking, eating, or standing watch for no more than 2 hours. If the rest is interrupted by a period of strenuous activity—at least 1 hour of walking, fighting, casting spells, or similar adventuring activity—the characters must begin the rest again to gain any benefit from it. A character regains half its total Hit Dice (rounded down) when it finishes a long rest. At the end of a long rest a character can spend Hit Dice up to their level. ___ A character must have at least 1 hit point at the start of the rest to gain its benefits. ___ Characters cannot apply the benefits of leveling up until they complete a long rest. #### Wilderness Rests After a full day of wilderness travel resting rules change to Wilderness Rests. Under Wilderness Rests a short rest is 8 hours and every third short rest is a long rest. At the end of a full day of no travel, normal rest rules apply. ### Saving Throws ___ ***Fortitude*** Fortitude measures the inherent toughness, mass, and resilience of your physique. It is the key defense against attacks that include effects such as disease and poison. Use your Constitution modifier for your Fortitude saving throw. ___ ***Reflex*** measures your ability to avoid area of effect spells and forced movement. It’s useful against areas of effect such as dragon breath or a fireball spell. Use the average of your Strength and Dexterity scores (rounded up) to calculate your Reflex saving throw. ___ ***Will*** is your defense against effects that daze, disorient, confuse, or overpower your mind. It measures your strength of will, self-discipline, and devotion. Use the average of the highest two scores (rounded up) from your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma modifiers to calculate your Will saving throw. ___ At **10th** level, you can add half your proficiency bonus, rounded down, to any saving throw you make that doesn’t already include your proficiency bonus. ___ At 1st level choose what saving throw your character will be proficient in according to the following chart. One chosen this cannot be changed. ##### Class Saving Throws | Class | New Saving Throw | |:----:|:-------------| | Barbarian |Fortitude| | Bard |Pick any one| | Cleric | Will | | Druid | Will | | Fighter | Fortitude or Reflex | | Monk| Reflex | | Paladin| Will| | Ranger|Fortitude or Reflex| | Rogue| Reflex| | Sorcerer|Fortitude or Will| | Warlock| Will| | Wizard| Will| ### Skills, Languages, and Tools #### Tools The following tools are combined with the following skills. ___ **Disguise Kit** is merged into **Deception** ___ **Herbalism Kit** and **Poisoner's Kit** are merged into **Medicine** ___ **Navigator’s Tools** are merged into **Survival** ___ **Thieves’ Tools** and **Forgery Kit** are merged into **Sleight of Hand** ___ Artisan’s Tools and Musical Instruments remain the same. ___ **Artisan's Tools:** As in the PHB. ___ **Musical Instruments:** String, Percussion, Windwood, Brass, Vocals ___ All characters are proficient in all Land Vehicles. \page #### Intelligence If you have 12 or more Intelligence you know an additional standard or exotic language. If you have 14 or more Intelligence you know an additional skill from your class list. #### Medicine You can make a medicine check if you are within 5 feet of a dying creature. Roll a Wisdom (Medicine) check vs DC 15. On a success, the creature has advantage on its next death saving throw. Using a healer's kit gives you advantage on this check. If you have proficiency in the Mecidine skill you can tend to a creature's wounds over the course of 10 minutes by expending a use of a healer's kit to restore 1d6+4 hit points to it, plus an additional hit points equal to the creature's maximum number of Hit Dice. If you have expertise in the Medicine skill this healing is doubled. The creature can't regain hit points in this way again until it finishes a short or long rest. ### Size #### Grappling and Shoving Creatures have advantage on checks to grapple and shove creatures smaller than them. ___ Creatures have disadvantage on checks to grapple and shove creatures larger than them. ___ If a creature attempts to grapple or shove a creature two sizes or larger than itself, it automatically fails. #### Climbing a Creature You can climb onto an adjacent creature at least two sizes larger than you as an action. Make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target’s choice of Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics). If you succeed you successfully move into the targets space and cling to its body. While in the target's space, you move with the target and have advantage on attack rolls against it with light melee weapons, unarmed strikes and natural attacks. You can move around within the larger creature's space, treating the space as difficult terrain. The larger creature has disadvantage to attack you. The larger creature can attempt to dislodge you in place of an attack by knocking you against a wall or the ground (becoming prone in the latter). Make a Reflex saving throw saving throw against the creatures' Strength DC. On a failed save, you take bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 x it's Strength modifier and land prone in a space within 5'. If you succeed, you cling to the monster and take half damage. ``` ``` ### Underwater Combat #### Melee Attacks Underwater When making a weapon attack, a creature has disadvantage on the attack roll unless the weapon deals only piercing damage. #### Ranged Attacks Underwater All ranged weapon have their range reduced to 1/4 the original value. A thrown weapon has its range reduced by half. Ranged attack rolls have disadvantage underwater unless the weapon deals piercing damage. #### Attacks from Land Characters swimming, floating, or treading water on the surface, or wading in water at least chest deep, have three-quarters cover (+5 bonus to AC and Reflex saving throws) from opponents on land. A completely submerged creature has total cover against opponents on land. #### Fire Nonmagical fire (including alchemist’s fire) does not burn underwater. Spells or spell-like effects with the fire descriptor create a bubble of steam instead of its usual fiery effect, and creatures and objects that are fully immersed in water have resistance to fire damage. #### Hold Breath A character who has no air to breathe can hold their breath for 1 round per point of Constitution score. If a character takes an action, the remaining duration that the character can hold their breath is reduced by 1 round. After this period of time, the character must make a DC 10 Fortitude saving throw in order to continue holding their breath. The save must be repeated at the start of each round, with the DC increasing by +5 for each previous success. If the save is failed they begin to suffocate. In the first round, they are reduced to 0 hit points and immediately fall unconscious. In the following round, they gain a death failure. In the third round, the character suffocates. #### Spellcasting Underwater Casting verbal component spells while submerged is impossible for creatures who cannot breathe underwater. Creatures that can breathe water are unaffected and can cast spells normally. Some spells might function differently underwater, subject to DM discretion. #### Swimming Unless aided by magic, a character can’t swim for a full 8 hours per day. After each hour of swimming, a character must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution check or gain one level of exhaustion. A creature that has a swimming-speed including a character with a ring of swimming or similar magic can swim all day without penalty and uses the normal forced march rules in the Player’s Handbook. Swimming through deep water is similar to traveling at high altitudes, because of the water’s pressure and cold temperature. For a creature without a swimming speed, each hour spent swimming at a depth greater than 100 feet counts as 2 hours for the purpose of determining exhaustion. Swimming for an hour at a depth greater than 200 feet counts as 4 hours. (DMG 116) \page # Chapter 2: Character Creation ### Ability Score Generation Characters use Point Buy or Standard Array as detailed in the Player's Handbook. ### Ability Score Improvements At 4th, 8th, 12th. 16th, and 19th level, all ability scores increase by 1 (max 20). ___ Fighters and Rogues gain a +1 to an ability score of their choice at level 6 and 14. ___ If an Ability Score increase would increase an Ability Score that is already at 20, the point is refunded for you to spend elsewhere. ### Background Backgrounds are removed. All characters can choose two extra class skills or Artisan Tool/Musical Instrument proficiencies and one standard language at character creation. If you have a feature that would give you a skill you already possess, you can choose another skill from your class list. If you already have proficiency in all the skills from your class list, you can choose a skill outside of your class list. ### Competency At 7th and 15th level gain Proficiency in a chosen skill. Your draconic blood determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic blood. ___ The DC for this saving throw equals 10 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 4d6 at 5th level, 6d6 at 11th level, and 8d6 at 17th level. Your breath weapon can also be used in place of an attack instead of as a bonus action. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest. ``` ``` You can choose one of the following traits. ___ ***Dragon Fear:*** Instead of exhaling destructive energy, you can roar and expend a use of your breath weapon to force each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). A target automatically succeeds if it can’t hear or see you. On a failed save, a target becomes frightened for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of it's turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. ___ ***Dragon Claws:*** You have retractable claws from the tips of your fingers. Extending or retracting the claws requires no action. The claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. In addition, your scales harden. While you aren’t wearing armor, you can calculate your AC as 13 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use a shield and still gain this benefit. ___ ***Dragon Wings:*** You have draconic wings. With your wings, you have a flying speed of 20 feet if you are not encumbered. When you use your wings to fly, you must land by the end of your movement for that turn or fall. ## Elf ### High Elf ***Ability Score Increase:*** Your Intelligence or Charisma increases by 1. ___ ***Cantrip:*** You know one cantrip of your choice from the wizard spell list. As a reaction to taking damage or as a bonus action on your turn, you can choose to gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage and your movement is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn as your flesh takes on the aspect of stone itself. ___ Once you have used this ability you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest. ## Darkvision All races with *Darkvision* except Tieflings have their *Darkvision* replaced with *Nightvision*. #### Nightvision You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light. \page # Chapter 4: Equipment ## Armor ### Armor Properties ___ ***Bulky:*** The wearer has disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks and Strength (Athletics) checks made to swim. ___ ***Dense:*** The wearer's movement speed becomes 0 when swimming and immediately begins to sink. ___ ***Strength:*** The armor reduces the wearer’s speed by 10 feet unless the wearer has a Strength score equal to or higher than the listed score. ___ ***Special:*** A suit of armor or shield with the *special* propoerty has specific mechanics regarding it's use. ___ ### Armor Categories ***Light Armor:*** Made from supple and thin materials, light armor favors agile adventurers since it offers some protection without sacrificing mobility. If you wear light armor, you add your Dexterity modifier to the base number from your armor type to determine your Armor Class. ___ ***Medium Armor:*** Medium armor offers more protection than light armor, but it also impairs movement more, using a mix of light and heavy armor materials. If you wear medium armor, you add your Dexterity modifier, to a maximum of +2, to the base number from your armor type to determine your Armor Class. ___ ***Heavy Armor:*** Of all the armor categories, heavy armor offers the best protection. These suits of armor cover large portions of the body and are designed to stop a wide range of attacks. Only proficient warriors can manage their weight and bulk. If you wear wear Heavy Armor you do not add your Dexterity modifier to the base number from your armor type to determine your Armor Class. ___ ### Shields ___ ***Buckler:*** A buckler is a small shield held in a fist grip. Increase your Armor Class by 1. \page ____ ### Weapon Properties **Ammunition:** You can use a weapon that has the ammunition property to make a ranged attack only if you have ammunition to fire from the weapon. Each time you attack with the weapon, you expend one piece of ammunition. Drawing the ammunition from a quiver, case, or other container is part of the attack (you need a free hand to load a one-handed weapon). At the end of the battle, you can recover half your expended ammunition by taking a minute to search the battlefield. If you use a weapon that has the ammunition property to make a melee attack, you treat the weapon as an improvised weapon. ___ **Close:** When using this weapon while grappling, being grappled, restraining, or being restrained by an opponent you have advantage on attack rolls against them. ___ **Disarming:** When attempting to disarm your opponent with a disarming weapon you have advantage on the roll. ___ **Finesse:** When making an attack with a finesse weapon, you can substitute Strength with Dexterity for the purposes of calculating attack and damage rolls with that weapon. ___ **Heavy:** Small creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls with heavy weapons. A heavy weapon’s size and bulk make it too large for a Small creature to use effectively. ___ **Light:** A light weapon is small and easy to handle, making it ideal for use when fighting with two weapons. ___ **Loading:** Because of the time required to load this weapon, you can fire only one piece of ammunition from it when you use an action, bonus action, or reaction to fire it, regardless of the number of attacks you can normally make. ___ **Reach**: This weapon adds 5 feet to your reach when you attack with it, as well as when determining your reach for opportunity attacks with it. While using a reach weapon you can make an opportunity attack against any creature that enters your reach. Reach weapons have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures within 5 feet. ___ **Special:** A weapon with the special property has unusual rules governing its use, explained in the weapon’s description (see “Special Weapons” later in this section). ___ **Thrown:** If a weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon to make a ranged attack. If the weapon is a melee weapon, you use the same ability modifier for that attack roll and damage roll that you would use for a melee attack with the weapon. For example, if you throw a handaxe, you use your Strength, but if you throw a dagger, you can use either your Strength or your Dexterity, since the dagger has the finesse property. Thrown weapons are treated as ammunition. ___ **Two-Handed:** This weapon requires two hands when you attack with it. ___ **Versatile:** This weapon can be used with one or two hands. A damage value in parentheses appears with the property, this is the damage when the weapon is used with two hands to make a melee attack. A *Versatile* weapon used in two hands cannot also be used with the *Finesse* property. ### Weapon Upgrades **Silver:** Melee weapons and ammunition can be *silvered* for the cost of 100 gp. Due to the less tough mix of steel and alchemical silver as compared to pure steel, a silvered weapon's damage die is reduced by one size, to a minimum of 1d4, against creatures wearing armor. \page

\page ### Special Weapons Weapons with special rules are described here. ___ **Net:** A Large or smaller creature hit by a net is restrained until it is freed. A net has no effect on creatures that are formless, or creatures that are Huge or larger. A creature can use its action to make a DC 10 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. Dealing 5 slashing damage to the net (AC 10) also frees the creature without harming it, ending the effect and destroying the net. When you use an action, bonus action, or reaction to attack with a net, you can make only one attack regardless of the number of attacks you can normally make. ### Mounts A new horse may be bought called a “Destrier” for 1000gp. Additionally, you can switch your fighting style with a bonus action on your turn. ___ **Archery:** When you make a ranged weapon attack you ignore half cover. ___ **Defense:** While you are wearing armor, armor you gain a +1 bonus to AC. ___ **Great-Weapon Fighting:** When you roll damage for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding in two hands, you can roll one extra die of the weapon’s base damage dice and discard the lowest of the weapon’s base damage dice. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit. ___ **Hand-and-a-Half Fighting:** While you are holding a versatile weapon in two hands you gain a +1 bonus to attacks made with that weapon. ___ **Phalanx Fighting:** When you use a reach weapon to hit a creature entering your reach with an opportunity attack, that creature's movement is reduced to 0 until the end of their turn. ___ **Protection:** When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on all attacks made against the target until the end of that turn. When you miss with a melee weapon attack on your turn while using Reckless Attack feature, you may make an additional melee weapon as part of your attack action. #### Intimidating Presence At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill. If you already have proficiency in Intimidation, then your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check that uses Intimidation. #### Mindless Rage Beginning at 6th level, you can’t be charmed or frightened while raging. If you are charmed or frightened when you enter your rage, the effect is suspended for the duration of the rage. #### Retaliation Starting at 10th level, when you take damage from a creature that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature. #### Frenzy Starting at 14th level, your rage drives you into a bloodthirsty frenzy. When you are raging and using the Reckless Attack feature, you can make a single melee weapon attack as a bonus action. ### Path of the Totem Warrior Rework ___ #### Totem Spirit At 3rd level, when you adopt this path, you choose a totem spirit and gain its feature. You must make or acquire a physical totem object that incorporates a part of the totem animal. At your option, you also gain minor physical attributes that are reminiscent of your totem spirit. Your totem animal might be an animal related to those listed here but more appropriate to your homeland. **Bear:** While raging, you have resistance to all damage except radiant, necrotic, and psychic damage. The spirit of the bear makes you tough enough to stand up to any physical punishment. **Eagle:** While you’re raging, you can use the Dash or Disengage action as a bonus action on your turn. Additionally, once per rage when you make a melee attack you can gain a +10 bonus to the roll. The spirit of the eagle makes you into a swift and deadly predator who can weave through the fray with ease. **Elk:** While you're raging, you can use the Shove action as a bonus action. Additionally, whenever you successfully use the Shove action against an enemy, you deal bludgeoning damage to them equal to your Strength modifier. The spirit of the Elk makes you swift and strong. **Tiger:** While you're raging, your bonus Rage Damage increases by two. The spirit of the tiger increases your natural ferocity. **Wolf:** While you’re raging, your friends have advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature within 5 feet of you that you have attacked since the end of your last turn. The spirit of the wolf makes you a leader of hunters. #### Aspect of the Beast At 6th level, you gain a magical benefit based on the totem animal of your choice. You can choose the same animal you selected at 3rd level or a different one. **Bear:** You gain the might of a bear. Your carrying capacity (including maximum load and maximum lift) is doubled, and you have advantage on Strength checks made to push, pull, lift, or break objects. **Eagle:** You gain the eyesight of an eagle. You can see up to 1 mile away with no difficulty, able to discern even fine details as though looking at something no more than 100 feet away from you. Additionally, dim light doesn’t impose disadvantage on your Wisdom (Perception) checks. **Elk:** Whether mounted or on foot, your travel pace is doubled, as is the travel pace of up to ten companions while they’re within 60 feet of you and you’re not incapacitated. The elk spirit helps you roam far and fast. **Tiger:** The spirit of the tiger empowers your leaps. You can add 10 feet to your long jump distance and 5 feet to your high jump distance. **Wolf:** You gain the hunting sensibilities of a wolf. You can track other creatures while traveling at a fast pace, and you can move stealthily while traveling at a normal pace. #### Spirit Walker At 10th level, you can cast the Commune with Nature spell, but only as a ritual. #### Totemic Attunement At 14th level you gain a magical benefit based on a totem animal of your choice. You can choose the same animal you selected previously or a different one. **Bear.** While you’re raging, any creature within 5 feet of you that’s hostile to you has disadvantage on attack rolls against targets other than you or another character with this feature. An enemy is immune to this effect if it can’t see or hear you or if it ean’t be frightened. **Eagle.** While raging, you have a flying speed equal to your current walking speed plus an additional 10 feet. This benefit works only in short bursts; you fall if you end your turn in the air and nothing else is holding you aloft. **Elk.** While you are raging, whenever you take damage from an enemy within 5ft of you that is Large or smaller, you may use your reaction to knock that enemy prone. \page **Tiger.** While you’re raging, the spirit of the tiger empowers to you grab hold of your foe. Whenever an enemy within 5ft of you makes an attack roll against you, you may use your reaction to attempt a grapple. ___ **Wolf.** While raging, once per rage, as a bonus action you can release a savage howl and choose up to three creatures that you can see and can hear you. Each creature can use it's reaction to move up to half it's speed and make a melee attack. ### Path of the Storm Herald Rework #### Storm of Fury When you select this path at 3rd level, choose one to attune to one the options in the table below: The environment you choose shapes the nature of the storm you conjure when you rage. ##### Storm of Fury | Storm type | Damage type | |:----:|:-------------| | Arctic | Cold damage | | Desert | Fire damage | | Sea | Thunder damage | While raging, you emanate an aura in a 10 foot radius. Additionally, you gain Proficiency in the Nature and Survival skills. #### Storm Soul At 6th level, your link to the power of the storm grants you additional abilities based on the environment you are attuned to. **Arctic:** You gain resistance to cold damage and don’t suffer the effects of extreme cold. **Desert:** You gain resistance to fire damage and don't suffer the effects of extreme heat. **Sea:** You gain resistance to lightning damage, gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed, and can hold your breath underwater for 1 hour. #### Power of the Storm At 10th level, you learn greater control and mastery over your Storm of Fury aura. Your Storm of Fury aura increases to a 10 foot radius. Additionally, while you are raging, allies within your aura gain the resistance effect of your Storm Soul. #### Raging Storm At 14th level, the power of the storm you channel grows mightier. As a bonus action you can increase the radius of your aura to 20 feet and the damage to equal to twice your Barbarian level. The effect lasts until your current rage ends. You must complete long rest before you can do this again. Additionally, your Storm of Fury aura gains more potent effects. **Arctic:** The frigid winds and swirling blizzard claw at the limbs of your foes, seeking to ensnare them deep under the snow. Creatures of your choice that end their turn within your aura must make a Fortitude saving throw vs your Constitution DC. On a failed save, the creature is restrained until the end of its next turn. Any enemy who is immune to cold is also immune to this effect. **Desert:** The innumerable grains of sand around you bend to your will and flow over yours foes in blinding sheets. Creatures of your choice that end their turn within your aura must make a Fortitude saving throw vs your Constitution DC. On a failed save, the creature is blinded until the end of its next turn. Any enemy who is immune to fire is also immune to this effect. **Sea:** The cacophonous thunder of your tempest is matched only by the howls of dread coming from your foes. Creatures of your choice that end their turn within your aura must make a Fortitude saving throw vs your Constitution DC. On a failed save, the creature is knocked prone, as well as deafened until the end of its next turn and must immediately make a concentration check to maintain any spells. Any enemy who is immune to thunder is also immune to this effect. ### Path of the Zealot Tweaks #### Warrior of the Gods At 3rd level your soul is marked for endless battle. When you are reduced to 0 hp you can spend one hit die to heal yourself as per a rest. Once you use this feature you must complete a short or long rest to use it again. Additionally, when you use this feature you can use your reaction to make a melee attack against a creature within range. #### Rage Beyond Death Beginning at 14th level, the divine power that fuels your rage allows you to shrug off fatal blows. While you're raging, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points. However, if you would die due to failing death saving throws, you don’t die until your rage ends, and you die then only if you still have 0 hit points. \page ## Bard ### College of Swords Tweaks #### Bonus Proficiencies At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, heavy armor, shields and greatswords. ___ You can perform a 10 minute ritual to transform any sword you possess into a magical focus for you, imbuing it with the song of singing steel. ### College of Valor Tweak At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, heavy armor, shields and martial weapons. \page ## Cleric - Divine Strike damage is increased to 2d8 at 8th level and 4d8 at 14th level. ### Death Domain Tweaks You gain proficiency in martial weapons and heavy armor. ### Nature Domain Tweaks #### Nature Domain Spells | Cleric Level | Spells | |:----:|:-------------| | 1 | *speak with animals, entangle* | | 3 | *pass without a trace, spike growth* | | 5 | *plant growth, sleet storm* | | 7 | *dominate beast, freedom of movement* | | 9 | *awaken, insect plague* | ### Trickster Domain Tweaks #### Blessings of the Trickster At 1st level, you can use your action to gain advantage on Stealth and Sleight of Hand checks. This lasts for 1 hour or until you use this feature again. You also gain proficiency in martial weapons and learn the *minor illusion* cantrip. #### Channel Divinity: Invoke Duplicity As a bonus action, you may swap positions with your illusion if you can see it. This swap is done perfectly so it is impossible to tell that you have swapped places, and can be done before or after moving yourself or your illusion #### Channel Divinity: Mask of Shadows Starting at 6th level, as an action, you may magically mask yourself. For a number of hours equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1), other creatures do not recognize you through use of any senses unless they use magic to see through illusions, make an Intelligence check against your spell save DC, or you allow them. Once you have used this ability you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest. #### Divine Strikes Starting at 8th level, once on each of your turns when you make a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 2d8 psychic damage. The extra damage increases to 4d8 at 14th level. #### Improved Duplicity At 17th level, you can create up to 4 duplicates of yourself, instead of 1, whenever you use Invoke Duplicity. When you move them, you can move any number of them, and when you swap places with them, you can swap places with one of them. You also can speak out of any number of them. ``` ``` ### War Domain Tweaks #### War Priest From 1st level, when you use your action to cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can make one weapon attack as part of that action. ___ You can use this feature a number of times equal to your spellcasting modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest. ___ Additionally, you gain the use of all fighting styles. \page ## Druid - Druids can wear metal armor #### Archdruid You are one with the divinity of nature, and the wind itself whispers your name. All beasts that can see you must succeed on a Will save or become charmed by you and you can speak with charmed animals at will. Additionally, you can also force any fey, elemental, giant, or dragon within 60 feet of you, that is CR 10 or less to make a Will saving throw and on a failure become charmed by you for 24 hours. If it succeeds, it is immune to this effect. You can use this ability once per long rest. Finally, you can ignore the verbal and somatic components of your druid spells, as well as any material components that lack a cost and aren't consumed by a spell. You gain this benefit in both your normal shape and your beast shape from Wild Shape. #### Beast Spells **9th:** You learn to mimic the most basic of magical gestures and utterances while in animal form. You can freely cast cantrips while in wild shape, provided those cantrips require no material components. ___ **18th:** You increase your ability to make sophisticated sounds and gestures while in animal form, allowing you to cast spells of up to 6th level while in wild shape. You still cannot provide material components while wild shaped, or therefore cast spells that require them. ### Wild Shape Rework This feature lets you use your action to assume the physical form of natural creatures that you're familiar with. When you use this ability, you morph into the shape of a beast of your choice. Your attributes, class features, hit points, and other statistics do not change, except that you lose any special senses, movement types, or natural attacks your race grants you that your new form doesn't have. Your equipment shifts form with you and you lose any properties associated with them except magical ones. You retain the magical effects of any magical items or armor you are wearing, and any magical traits your weapon might have now apply to your natural attacks (if any). If you possess a magical item conveys an advantage for simply having it on your body, you retain that advantage. ___ While in wild shape, you physically become the creature you have chosen. Your new shape is completely accurate, and possesses any intrinsic abilities or environmental adaptations that creature has (such as a giant spider's webbing, a wolf's warm fur, or a shark's ability to breathe water). The natural magic of wild shape can only overcome a few of the finer differences between you and animal however, allowing you to gain only a few specific benefits from any single use of wild shape, no matter how many exotic capabilities the animal you're copying has; see Wild Shape Options, below. You may remain in a wild shape indefinitely, and freely shift from one shape to another without returning to your native form in between, but you cannot speak, cast spells or recover expended spell slots while not in your native form (though you may continue to concentrate on spells you've already cast). You may revert freely as an action or automatically upon your death. Only your behavior or a true seeing effect can reveal your true nature to even the most knowledgeable observer. You may impersonate a specific existing creature as well, such as an enemy general's loyal hound, although a successful Deception check would still be required to fool an attentive person. ### Wild Shape Options When you first gain this ability, you have two wild shape options: #### Scout Shape In order to explore or infiltrate an area, you sacrifice physical precision for a better mastery of a creature's special senses and broad mobility. When you take scout shape, you assume the form of a Tiny natural creature, such as a sparrow, hare or carp. ___ In *scout shape* * You lose the ability to take actions other than Dash, Dodge, Disengage, or Hide. * You have vulnerability to all damage. * You gain one special movement speed: 5ft burrow, 20ft climb, or 40ft walk. You can spend a Druid spell slot when you transform into your scout shape to access a form with either a 40ft swimming or 40ft flying speed for a number of hours equal to the level of spell slot expended. * You gain one special sense: 60 ft blindsight, 120 ft darkvision, 30 ft tremorsense, or advantage on ability checks made with one sense of your choice ___ Beyond this, you gain no other new abilities. The features you gain must be consistent with the shape you take; blindsight is found on owls and bats, not squirrels, for example, and burrow is common to skunks, but unreasonable for trout or doves. ___ #### Hunter Shape In order to make yourself more effective in combat, you focus yourself on gaining every lethal edge a powerful animal's strength and agility can provide. When you take hunter shape, you assume the form of a Small or Medium natural creature, such as a lynx, crocodile or giant scorpion. ___ In *hunter shape* * You have one natural weapon attack that deals 1d8 damage if you are medium or 1d6 if you are small. Its damage type is determined by the weapon (piercing for a bite or sting, slashing for a claw, etc). * Double your proficiency bonus for Athletics, Acrobatics, and Stealth checks while in hunter shape. * You lose any nonmagical AC benefits of the armor you wear in humanoid shape and gain an armor class of 13 + your Wisdom modifier. * You gain either a climb or swim speed equal to your walk speed, or increase your walk speed by 10 ft. \page All options or traits you choose when you transform cannot be changed until you transform back into your humanoid shape. The features you gain must be consistent with the shape you take; a bear does not have a sting attack, and a giant ant cannot swim. ### Circle of the Moon Rework #### Swift Wild Shape When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you gain the ability to use Wild Shape on your turn as a bonus action, or as a reaction whenever you take damage. #### Moon's Blessings The rites of your circle allow you to empower your wild shape forms by drawing upon your primal magic. When you use your hunter shape you can choose to expend a Druid spell slot to augment your form. These blessings last as long as you are in your hunter shape and end when you leave it. You cannot have a total number of blessings exceeding your Druid level at one time. ___ ##### Spend a first level Druid spell slot to gain any one of the following. - **Augmented Weapon:** Your natural weapon deals 2 additional damage. - **Burrow:** You gain a burrow speed of 5 feet. - **Charge:** If you move at least 20 feet before attacking, you may add 2d6 to the damage roll for that attack and make a shove attempt as a bonus action. - **Darkvision:** You gain darkvision out to 60 feet. - **Keen Sense:** Select one sense (such as vision or scent). You have advantage on ability checks that rely on that sense. - **Quills:** You have quills, spines or thorns that you can fire at an enemy as a ranged attack. These deal 1d6 damage, have a range of 30/60, and are otherwise a normal natural attack for you. - **Surefooted:** You ignore difficult terrain. ___ ##### Spend a second level Druid spell slot to gain any one of the following. - **Blindsight:** You gain blindsight out to 30 feet. - **Constrict:** When you successfully grapple a creature, you may deal 1d8 + Strength bludgeoning damage to it as part of the grapple. You may use a grapple attempt to restrain a creature, and are not considered restrained yourself when you do so. - **Knockdown:** When you make a successful natural attack, you may spend a bonus action to attempt to shove your target. - **Lightning Speed:** You do not provoke opportunity attacks on your turn from any creature you make an attack against on that turn. - **Spider Climb:** You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. Your form must already have a climb speed. - **Tremorsense:** You gain tremorsense out to 30 feet. - **Web:** As an action, you may shoot a sticky web (range 30/60 ft), forcing a single creature to make a Reflex save or become restrained. As an action the restrained target can make a strength check against your spell save DC, bursting the web on a success. The webbing can also be atacked and destroyed (AC 10; hp 5; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage). This ability recharges on a 5 or 6 on a roll of 1d6, rolled for at the start of each turn. ___ ##### Spend a third level Druid spell slot to gain any one of the following. - **Grab:** When you make a successful natural attack, you may spend a bonus action to attempt to grapple your target. - **Increase Size:** You may take the form of a Large creature. This increases your natural weapon damage by one die size. - **Multiattack I:** You have two natural weapon attacks. When you take the Attack action, you may attack once with each weapon. - **Poison:** When you make a successful natural attack, you may spend a bonus action to deal an additional 1d6 poison damage. The target must make a Fortitude save or suffer the poisoned condition until the beginning of your next turn. - **Trample:** You may make a single natural attack against a prone creature as a bonus action. - **Swallow:** When when you make a successful natural weapon attack against a creature you are grappling and the creature is at least 2 sizes smaller than yourself, you can swallow the creature. The swallowed target is blinded and restrained and has total cover against attacks and other effects outside your body and it takes 3d6 + your Constitution modifier acid damage at the start of each of your turns. You cannot change forms while a living creature is in your stomach. ___ ##### Spend a fourth level Druid spell slot to gain any one of the following. - **Earthmover:** You gain a burrow speed equal to half your walk speed, and can even carve through rock and wood while digging. - **Flight:** You gain a fly speed equal to your movement speed. - **High Speed:** You can take the Dash action as a bonus action on each of your turns. ___ \page ##### Spend a fifth level Druid spell slot to gain any one of the following. - **Multiattack II:** You have three natural weapon attacks. When you take the Attack action, you may attack once with each weapon. - **Increase Size II:** You may take the form of a Huge creature. This increases your natural weapon damage by one die size. #### Primal Strike Starting at 6th level, your attacks while in wild shape become magical. Additionally, while you are transformed, when you hit a creature with a natural attack, you may expend one spell slot to deal cold, fire, or lightning damage to the target, in addition to the weapon's damage. The extra damage is 2d6 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d6 for each spell level higher than 1st. #### Primordial Shape By 10th level, you have learned to take the forms of the most powerful and primal of nature's creatures. Once per long rest you can transform into a fearsome elemental with either cold, fire, or lightning immunity for 1 minute. You gain two natural weapon attacks that deal 2d6 damage of the same element as your chosen immunity, and you gain a 10-foot radius burst of elemental energy that you may use as an action, which deals 6d6 damage (Reflex saving throw for half) of the same damage type as your immunity. ### Circle of the Land Tweaks #### Circle Spells At level 2, your mystical connection to the land infuses you with the ability to cast certain spells. When you finish a long rest in an environment, you attune to that environment and any attunement to any other environment ends. Once you attune to an environment, you always have it’s circle spell list prepared, and they don’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you. #### Nature's Ward When you reach 10th level, you have advantage on saves against becoming charmed or frightened and you are immune to disease. #### Nature's Sanctuary When you reach 14th level, when a beast or plant creature attacks you, that creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your druid spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature must choose a different target, or the attack automatically misses. On a successful save, the creature is immune to this effect for 24 hours. The creature is aware of this effect before it makes its attack against you. Additionally, once per long rest you can magically animate a tree or similarly large flora you can see within 60 feet of you. This tree has the same statistics as a treant, except it has Intelligence and Charisma scores of 1, it can't speak, and it have only the Slam action option. An animated tree acts as an ally of the Druid and will follow your commands. The tree remains animate for 1 hour or until it dies; until the Druid dies or is more than 120 feet from the tree; or until the Druid takes an action to turn it back into an inanimate tree. The tree then takes root if possible. ### Circle of Spores Tweak #### Symbiotic Entity At 2nd level, you gain the ability to channel magic into your spores. As an action, you can awaken those spores and you gain temporary hit points equal to 5x your Druid level. While this feature is active, you gain the following benefits: - Double the amount of dice rolled for your Halo of Spores damage. - Your melee and ranged attacks deal an extra 2d8 poison damage to any target they hit. This increases to 3d8 at level 5, 4d8 at level 11, and 5d8 at level 17. ___ These benefits last for 10 minutes. You can use this feature once per short rest. \page ## Fighter - The *Stealth* skill is added to the Fighter class list - Second Wind increases to 2d10 at 5th level, 3d10 at 11th level, and 4d10 at 17th level. ### Resolute Beginning at 8th level, when you use your action to take the Dodge action, you may make a single weapon attack as part of that action. ### Arcane Archer Rework #### Imbued Shot At 3rd level, you gain the ability to infuse your missiles with magic. Whenever you shoot a nonmagical arrow from a shortbow or longbow or throw a weapon with the thrown property, you can make it magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. The magic fades from the arrow immediately after it hits or misses its target. ___ #### Arcane Missiles At 3rd level, you learn to unleash special magical effects with some of your shots. When you gain this feature, you learn two Arcane Missile options of your choice (see “Arcane Missiles” below). Once per turn when you fire an arrow from a shortbow or longbow or throw a weapon with the thrown property as part of the Attack action, you can apply one of your Arcane Missiles to that arrow. You decide to use the option when the arrow hits a creature, unless the option doesn’t involve an attack roll. You have uses of this ability equal to 2 + your Intelligence modifier, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a short or long rest. You gain an additional Arcane Missile of your choice when you reach certain levels in this class: 7th, 10th, 15th, and 18th level. Each missile also improves when you become a 10th-level fighter, and once more at 18th level. #### Arcane Archer Lore At 7th level, you have learned magical theory or some of the secrets of nature — typical for practitioners of this elven martial tradition. You choose to gain proficiency in either the Arcana or the Nature skill, and you choose to learn either the *Prestidigitation* or the *Druidcraft* cantrip. #### Curving Shot At 10th level, you learn how to direct an errant missile toward a new target. When you make an attack roll with an imbued shot and miss, you can use a bonus action to reroll the attack roll against a different target within 60 feet of the original target. #### Ever-Ready Shot Starting at 15th level, your magical archery is available whenever battle starts. If you start your turn with no uses of Arcane Missiles remaining, you regain one use of it. ``` ``` #### Arcane Missiles The Arcane Shot feature lets you choose options for it at certain levels. The options are presented here in alphabetical order. They are all magical effects, and each one is associated with one of the schools of magic. If an option requires a saving throw, your Arcane Shot save DC equals 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier. **Banishing Missile:** You use abjuration magic to try to temporarily banish your target to a harmless location elsewhere. The creature hit by the missile must also succeed on a Will saving throw or be banished. While banished in this way, the target’s speed is 0, and it is incapacitated. At the end of its next turn, the target reappears in the space it vacated or in the nearest unoccupied space if that space is occupied. After you reach 10th level in this class, a target also takes 1d6 force damage when the arrow hits it. This improves to 2d6 at 18th level. **Beguiling Missile:** Your enchantment magic causes this missile to temporarily beguile its target. The creature hit by the arrow takes an extra 2d6 psychic damage, and choose one of your allies within 30 feet of the target. The target must succeed on a Will saving throw, or it is charmed by the chosen ally for 1 minute. This effect ends early if the chosen ally attacks the charmed target, deals damage to it, or forces it to make a saving throw. The psychic damage increases to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. This improves to 4d6 at 18th level. **Thundering Missile:** You imbue your missile with thunderous force drawn from the school of evocation. The energy detonates after your attack. The target takes 2d6 thunder damage, and immediately after the arrow hits, all other creatures within 10 feet of it take 2d6 thunder damage each, and each make a Fortitude saving throw. On a failed save the creatures are pushed away from your target by 10 feet. On a successful save the creatures are not pushed away and take half as much damage. The thunder damage increases to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. This improves 4d6 at 18th level. **Enfeebling Missile:** You weave necromantic magic into your missile. The creature hit by the arrow takes an extra 2d6 necrotic damage. Additionally, the damage dealt by its weapon attacks is halved for 1 minute. At the end of each of the target’s turns, it can make a Fortitude saving throw against this effect, and on a successful one the effect ends. The necrotic damage increases to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. This improves to 4d6 at 18th level. **Grasping Missile:** When this missile strikes its target, conjuration magic creates grasping, poisonous brambles, which wrap around the target. The creature hit by the arrow takes an extra 2d6 poison damage, its speed is reduced by 10 feet, and it takes 2d6 slashing damage the first time on each turn it moves 1 foot or more without teleporting. The target or any creature that can reach it can use its action to remove the brambles with a successful Strength (Athletics) check against your Arcane Shot save DC. Otherwise, the brambles last for 1 minute or until you use this option again. The poison damage and slashing damage both increase to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. These improve to 4d6 at 18th level. \page **Piercing Missile:** You use transmutation magic to give your missile an ethereal quality. When you use this option, you don’t make an attack roll for the attack. Instead, the missile shoots forward in a line, which is 1 foot wide and 60 feet long, before disappearing. The missile passes harmlessly through objects, ignoring cover. Each creature in that line must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes damage as if it were hit by the missile, plus an extra 2d6 piercing damage. On a successful save, a target takes half as much damage. The piercing damage increases to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. This improves to 4d6 at 18th level. **Bursting Missile:** You imbue your missile with force energy drawn from the school of evocation. The arrow detonates after your attack. Immediately after the arrow hits the creature, the target and all other creatures within 10 feet of it take 2d6 force damage each. This improves to 4d6 at 10th level and 6d6 at 18th level. **Seeking Missile:** Using divination magic, you grant your arrow the ability to seek out a target. When you use this option, you don’t make an attack roll for the attack. Instead, choose one creature you have seen in the past minute. The arrow flies toward that creature, moving around corners if necessary and ignoring three-quarters cover and half cover. If the target is within the weapon’s range and there is a path large enough for the arrow to travel to the target, the target must make a Reflex saving throw. Otherwise, the arrow disappears after traveling as far as it can. On a failed save, the target takes damage as if it were hit by the arrow, plus an extra 2d6 force damage, and you learn the target’s current location. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage, and you don’t learn its location. The force damage increases to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. This improves to 4d6 at 18th level. **Shadow Missile:** You weave illusion magic into your Missile, causing it to occlude your foe’s vision with shadows. The creature hit by the Missile takes an extra 2d6 psychic damage, and it must succeed on a Will saving throw or be unable to see anything farther than 5 feet away until the start of your next turn. The psychic damage increases to 3d6 when you reach 10th level in this class. This improves to 4d6 at 18th level. ### Banneret Rework Bannerets are accomplished and competent battle leaders. Bannerets stand on the front line issuing commands and bolstering their allies while leading the battle with weapon in hand. Bannerets know how to rally a team to win a fight. #### Rallying Cry At 3rd level when you use your Second Wind feature, up to 5 allied creatures within 60 feet gain temporary hit points equal to the total, provided that they can hear you. Additionally, the next attack roll you make before the end of your next turn adds your Charisma bonus to hit and damage. ___ #### Fearless Leader At 7th level, you and allies within 30 feet of you that can see or hear you have advantage on saving throws to avoid being frightened. Additionally, you can cast the *Heroism* spell once per short rest. ``` ``` #### Inspiring Surge Starting at 10th level, when you use your Action Surge, you can choose one ally within 60 feet of you. It can use it reaction to move up to its speed and make one weapon attack, provided that they can see or hear you. The ally gains a bonus to the damage roll equal to half your Fighter level. Starting at 17th level, you can choose two allies instead of one. #### Bulwark At 15th level you can extend the benefit of your Indomitable feature to allies. When you use Indomitable to reroll a saving throw and you aren’t incapacitated, you can choose a number of allies equal to your Charisma modifier within 60 feet of you that also failed their saving throw against the same effect. If those creatures can see or hear you, they can reroll their saving throws with advantage. Additionally, if you roll initiative and have no uses of Indomitable you regain 1 use of it. ### Battlemaster Tweaks ##### Manuevers If a manuever requires a saving throw, the DC is equal to 10 + proficiency bonus + Strength or Dexterity modifier. **Commander’s Strike:** When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to direct one of your companions to strike. When you do so, choose a friendly creature who can see or hear you and expend one superiority die. That creature can immediately use its reaction to make one weapon attack, adding the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll. **Disarming Attack;** When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to disarm the target, forcing it to drop one item of your choice that it’s holding. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, it drops the object you choose. The object lands in the space of your choice within 10' of the enemy. **Distracting Strike:** When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to distract the creature, giving your allies an opening. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll. The next attack roll against the target by an attacker other than you has advantage if the attack is made before the start of your next turn. **Evasive Footwork:** When you move, you can expend one superiority die, rolling the die and adding the number rolled to your AC until the beginning of your next turn. **Feinting Attack:** You can expend one superiority die on your turn to feint, choosing one creature within 5 feet of you as your target. You have advantage on your next attack roll against that creature this turn. If that attack hits, add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll. \page **Goading Attack** When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to goad the target into attacking you. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you until the end of your next turn. **Lunge** When you make a melee weapon attack on your turn, you can expend one superiority die to increase your reach for that attack by 5 feet until the beginning of your next turn. On your first hit with that weapon before the beginning of your next turn, add your superiority die to the damage roll. **Maneuvering Attack** When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to maneuver one of your comrades into a more advantageous position. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and you choose a friendly creature who can see or hear you. That creature can use its reaction to move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks from the target of your attack. **Menacing Attack:** When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to frighten the target. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is frightened of you until the end of your next turn. **Parry:** When another creature damages you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction and expend one superiority die to reduce the damage by the number you roll on your superiority die + your Dexterity modifier. **Precision Attack:** When you make a weapon attack roll against a creature, you can expend one superiority die to add it to the roll. You can use this maneuver before or after making the attack roll, but before any effects of the attack are applied. **Pushing Attack:** When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to drive the target back. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and if the target is Large or smaller, it must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, you push the target up to 15 feet away from you. **Rally:** On your turn, you can use a bonus action and expend one superiority die to bolster the resolve of one of your companions. When you do so, choose a friendly creature who can see or hear you. That creature gains temporary hit points equal to the maximum value of the superiority die + your Charisma modifier. **Riposte:** When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction and expend one superiority die to make a melee weapon attack against the creature. If you hit, you add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll. **Sweeping Attack:** On your turn, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee weapon, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to damage another creature. Choose another creature within 5 feet of the original target and within your reach. You may make a single weapon attack against the creature, if the attack hits, add your superiority die to the damage roll. **Trip Attack:** When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to knock the target down. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and if the target is Large or smaller, it must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, you knock the target prone and its movement speed is reduced by 10' until the end of its next turn. ### Champion Rework #### Champion's Might Starting at 3rd level, your might is unmatched. Whenever you hit with a weapon that you’re proficient with and deal damage, the weapon’s damage increases by an amount based on your Fighter level, as shown on the Champion's Might table. ##### Champion's Might Table | Fighter Level | Extra Damage | |:----:|:-------------| | 3rd | 1d4 | | 7th | 1d6 | | 10th | 1d8 | | 12th | 1d10 | #### Peak Condition Starting at 7th level you gain proficiency in Athletics or Acrobatics, or Expertise if you are already proficient. When you take a bonus action to switch fighting styles, you can switch all your styles at once. #### Tenacious Beginning at 15th level, you regain all uses of your Indomitable feature after completing a short rest. #### Survivor At 18th level, at the start of each of your turns, you regain hit points equal to 5 + your constitution modifier if you have no more than half of your hit points left. You don't gain this benefit if you have 0 hit points. ### Eldritch Knight Tweaks - Can pick spells from any school - When you choose this subclass at level 3 you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill. If you were already proficient in Arcana you gain Expertise. #### Weapon Bond Your bonded weapon counts as a spellcasting focus. ### Samurai Tweak Fighting Spirit can be used twice per short or long rest. \page ## Monk ### Way of the Four Elements Rework #### Initiate of the Way When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn how to manipulate the four elements in subtle ways. You learn the *elemental attunement* cantrip and one of the following: *gust*, *mold earth*, *control flames*, or *shape water*. ___ #### Discipline of the Elements At 3rd level, you learn magical disciplines that harness the power of the four elements. You gain one of the following abilities: **Hurricane Throw:** You can treat simple thrown weapons as monk weapons for the purposes of Martial Arts. Any simple thrown weapon you make a ranged attack with automatically returns to your hand immediately after the attack is resolved, unless the weapon is stopped from returning (such as being caught). In addition, you may make attacks with simple thrown weapons in place of unarmed strikes when you use your Flurry of Blows ability. **Enduring Mountain Stance:** When you use *Patient Defense* you cannot be moved, pushed, grappled, frightened, or knocked prone against your will until the start of your next turn, even if magically compelled to do so. You must be standing on the ground to use this ability. **Exploding Cinder Strike:** Whenever you make an attack granted by your Flurry of Blows ability, you may replace it with an exploding cinder strike, changing your unarmed attacks to fire damage. All enemies adjacent to the creature you attack must a Reflex saving throw. On a failed save, an effected creature takes fire damage equal to your martial arts die, or half as much on a successful save. **Flowing Water Stance:** Whenever you make an attack granted by your Flurry of Blows ability, you may immediately move an additional 5 feet, and you may also force your target to make a Reflex saving throw (even if you do not succeed on your attack). On a failed save, your target is pushed 5 feet in any direction of your choice. Neither movement provokes an opportunity attack and the target cannot be moved if it is a size category larger than you. #### Adept of the Way At 6th level, you gain one of the following abilities: **I am a Leaf on the Wind:** Your Slow Fall ability no longer requires a Reaction to use, and instead you may use it automatically whenever you are conscious and not incapacitated, and it negates all falling damage regardless of distance. When you use the Slow Fall ability, you may also glide along the air to move 5 feet in any horizontal direction for every 5 feet that you fall. In addition, whenever you use your Step into Wind the Wind ability you gain Advantage on all Strength (Athletics) checks made to jump or shove until the end of your turn. **Patient Badger Listens:** As a Bonus Action you may spend 2 ki points to gain tremorsense with a range of 15 feet and a burrow speed equal to half of your modified land speed for 1 minute. Your movement leaves a tunnel that is considered difficult terrain to any non-burrowing creatures. **Eyes of Fire:** You gain Infravision with a range of 60 feet. This infravision allows you to magically see any heat source within range, typically created by creatures or fire, revealing the size, location, and general form of each heat source, but not any other details. This ability reveals heat sources that are invisible, hidden, obscured, or located on the other side of walls or other barriers you could not normally see through. However, the ability does not allow you to see through magical darkness, ice, snow, or water, and does not function on creatures that do not produce any heat, such as undead and constructs. **One with the Tides:** As a bonus action you may spend 1 ki point to gain underwater adaptations for 1 hour. While this ability is active, you can breath normally underwater, you gain a swim speed equal to your modified land speed, you gain blindsight with a range of 60 feet while underwater, you gain Resistance to Cold damage, and you can function normally in frigid environments without penalties. #### Master of the Way At 11th level, you gain one of the following abilities: **Harness the Air:** Whenever you use *Step of the Wind* you gain a flying speed equal to twice your movement speed at the start of your next turn that lasts until the end of your next turn. **Earth Barrier Defense:** You can create a momentary barrier of earth to defend yourself or an ally. As a Reaction, you may spend 1 ki point to use your Deflect Missiles ability on any ranged or melee attack you can see within 30 feet of you. Any damage not prevented by this ability is taken by the original target of the attack. **Hungry Flame Blossom:** As an Action you may spend 3 ki points to cast Fireball. Any creature damaged by a Fireball you cast catches on fire, and continues to take fire damage equal to your unarmed damage die at the end of each of its turns for 1 minute. A creature or an adjacent ally can make a DC 10 Dexterity check to extinguish the flames affecting it, and the fire can also be extinguished by mundane means, like water. **Water Release Technique:** As an Action you may spend 3 ki points to magically fill the area around you with water. This ability has the same duration and effects as the Wall of Water spell, except you can create an area of water in any simple contiguous shape (sphere, cube, cone, wall, etc) filling any space within 60 feet of you (including your own, if you wish). Creatures within an area of water use the underwater combat rules. Aquatic creatures can pass through and move within an area of water normally. \page #### Avatar of the Elements At 17th level, you gain one of the following abilities: **Wind Cloak:** You can create a wind cloak around you for 1 minute. When this ability is active, you cannot be hit by ranged weapon attacks, and all other ranged attacks have disadvantage to hit you. Once you use this ability, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest. **Flames of the Phoenix:** You gain immunity to Fire damage. When you are reduced to zero hit points, you may choose have your body ignite in an explosion of fire. All creatures within 30 feet of you must make a Reflex saving throw. A creature affected takes 12d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The fire spreads around corners and ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t being worn or carried. At the start of your next turn (if you are still alive), you become stable and are healed 12d6 points of damage. Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest. **Transmute Rock:** As an Action you may spend 5 ki points to cast Transmute Rock. Within the next minute you may then cast it again as a Bonus Action for the reverse effect without having to spend additional ki points. For example, if you use the spell to Transmute Rock to Mud, you could then cast the spell to Transmute Mud to Rock (or vice versa). **Freezing Stun Strike:** A target affected by your Stunning Fist ability is stunned for 1 minute instead until the end of your next turn as they slowly freeze from the inside out. At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another Fortitude saving throw. On a success, the effect ends on the target. Creatures that are Resistant or Immune to Cold damage are Immune to this ability. ### Way of The Sun Soul Rework #### Radiant Sun Bolt Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can hurl searing bolts of magical radiance. You gain a ranged spell attack you can use with the Attack action. The attack has a range of 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity modifier to its attack and damage rolls. It deals a amount of radiant damage equal to your Martial Arts die, as shown on the Monk table. You can use *Flurry of Blows* with your Radiant Sun Bolts. At 5th level you can spend 2 Ki points to attempt a *stunning strike* when you hit a creature with a Radiant Sun Bolt. #### Searing Arc Strike At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into searing waves of energy. Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to cast the 1st level spell burning hands as a bonus action. When you cast burning hands in this way it deals radiant damage instead of fire damage. You can spend additional ki points to cast burning hands at a higher level. Each additional ki point you spend increases the spell's level by 1. The maximum number of ki points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level (round down). ``` ``` #### Searing Sunburst At 11th level, you gain the ability to create an orb of light that erupts into a devastating explosion. As an action, you magically create an orb and hurl it at a point you choose within 150 feet, where it erupts into a sphere of radiant light for a brief but deadly instant. Each creature in that 20-foot-radius sphere of light not protected by total cover must succeed on a Fortitude saving throw. On a failed saving throw the Searing Sunburst deals 3d6 radiant damage, and half as much damage on a successful one. Undead and fiends have disadvantage on this saving throw. You can increase the sphere’s damage by spending ki points. Each point you spend, to a maximum of 3, increases the damage by 2d6. #### Sun Shield At 17th level, you become wreathed in a luminous aura. You shed bright light in a 30 foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. You can extinguish or restore this light as a bonus action. While your Sun Shield is active, you and all creatures in its aura are gain resistance to Necrotic damage. Additionally, if your Sun Shield overlaps with an area of darkness created by a spell of 3rd level or lower, the spell that created the darkness can be dispelled by spending 3 Ki points as an action. If a creature hits you with a melee attack while this light shines, you can use your reaction to deal radiant damage to it equal to your Monk level. \page ## Paladin - There is no maximum to the damage of a divine smite ____ ### Aura of Protection Tweak Starting at 6th level, whenever you or a friendly creature within 10 feet of you is forced to make a saving throw by another creature, they gains a bonus to the saving throw equal to your Charisma modifier (with a minimum bonus of +1). You must not be incapacitated to grant this bonus. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. If a creature were to benefit from the Aura of Protection from two Paladins, it takes the highest bonus. \page ## Ranger Class Overhaul **Hit Dice:** 1d10 ___ **Armor Proficiencies:** Light Armor, Medium Armor & Shields ___ **Weapon Proficiencies:** Simple & Martial Weapons ___ **Saving Throw Proficiency:** Reflex ___ **Skill Proficiency:** Choose 3 from Animal Handling, Acrobatics, Athletics, Insight, Investigation, Nature, Percepion, Stealth, and Survival #### Chosen Prey Beginning at 1st level, you can perform a ritual to attune yourself as the predator of a specific prey. Choose a type of prey: aberrations, beasts, celestials, constructs, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, giants, monstrosities, oozes, plants, or undead. Alternatively, you can select one race of humanoid (such as gnolls or orcs) as a quarry. You can perform a 1-hour ritual involving the blood and remains of a creature to change your chosen prey to it. You can only change your chosen prey once per long rest. You have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track your chosen prey, Wisdom (Perception) checks to detect them, Dexterity (Stealth) checks to hide from them and Charisma (Deception) or Charisma (Intimidate) when interacting with your favored enemy. At 6th level, any initiative rolls made for combat fighting your favored enemy are made with advantage. At 14th level, any attacks against your favored enemy score a critical on a 19 or 20. #### Wild Walker Starting at 1st level, you are a skilled navigator and outdoorsman and you react with swift and decisive action. This grants you the following benefits: * Natural terrain, stealth, or tracking do not slow your group's travel. * You have advantage on ability checks to avoid becoming lost. * When you forage, you find twice as much food as you normally would. * If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace. #### Fighting Style Starting at 2nd level you can use fighting styles. Only one style can be active at a time and you can use a bonus action on your turn to change your fighting style. ___ **Archery:** When you make a ranged weapon attack you ignore half cover. ___ **Great-Weapon Fighting:** When you roll damage for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding in two hands, you can roll one extra die of the weapon’s base damage dice and discard the lowest of the weapon’s base damage dice. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit. ___ **Hand-and-a-Half Fighting:** While you are holding a versatile weapon in two hands you gain a +1 bonus to attacks made with that weapon and a +1 bonus to your armor class. ___ **Two-Weapon Fighting:** You can use two-weapon fighting even when one of the one handed melee weapons you are wielding isn't light and you can draw or stow two one-handed weapons when you would normally be able to draw or stow only one. Additionally, while holding a weapon in each hand you score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the die. #### Spellcasting Starting at 2nd level you can cast spells. You prepare the list of ranger spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the ranger spell-list. When you do so, choose a number of ranger spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + half your ranger level, rounded down (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. ___ Casting a spell doesn't remove it from your list of prepared spells. You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. ___ The spell *Hunter's Mark* does not count against the number of spells you can prepare, nor does it count as a concentration spell for you, although you can only affect one creature with *Hunter's Mark* at a time. #### Spellcasting Ability Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Ranger spells. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. The Hunter and Beastmaster are found below, subclasses found in other sources can be used freely with this version of the Ranger. #### Primal Awareness At 3rd level, as an action you can sense the presence and direction of the following types of creatures within one mile: aberrations, celestials, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, undead. This feature does not reveal the distance, number or strength of these creatures. You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1+ your Wisdom modifier. When you finish a long rest, you regain all expended uses. #### Extra Attack Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. #### Fast Movement At 5th level, while you are not wearing heavy armor your movement speed increases by 10 feet. #### Healing Poultices At 6th level, you can create special herbal poultices that have healing power. During a long rest if you have access to herbs you can prepare poultices equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1). The poultices you create cannot be applied by anyone but a Ranger. After 24 hours, any poultices that you have not used lose their potency. ___ If you spend 1 minute applying one of your poultices to a creature, thereby expending its use, that creature regains hit points equal to its level for every two ranger levels you have (rounded up). Once a creature has been healed by a poultice, it cannot be healed again in that way until it completes a short or long rest. #### Primal Step At 14th level, you are no longer affected by difficult terrain. Additionally, you can attempt to hide as a bonus action on your turn. #### Feral Senses At 18th level you gain blindsight within 30 feet. #### Foe Slayer At 20th level, you become an unparalleled hunter of your enemies. You can deal this extra damage only once per turn. * **Giant Killer:** When a Large or larger creature within 5 feet of you hits or misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to attack that creature immediately after its attack, provided that you can see the creature. * **Horde Breaker:** Once on each of your turns when you make a weapon attack, you can make another attack with the same weapon against a different creature that is within 5 feet of the original target and within range of your weapon. #### Hunter's Defense At 7th level, you gain one of the following features of your choice. * **Escape the Horde:** Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage. * **Multiattack Defense:** When a creature hits you with an attack, you gain a +4 bonus to AC against all subsequent attacks made by that creature for the rest of the turn. * **Steel Will:** You add double your proficiency bonus to saves to avoid being Frightened. #### Superior Hunting Style At 11th level, you gain one of the following features of your choice. * **Relentless Hunter:** Once per turn you can add your Wisdom modifier to the attack and damage rolls of one attack you make * **Rain of Iron:** You can use your action to make one melee weapon attack that targets all creatures within reach, or one ranged weapon attack that targets all creatures within 10 feet of a point you can see within range. \page #### Superior Hunter's Defense At 15th level, you gain one of the following features of your choice. * **Evasion:** When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Reflex saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail. * **Stand Against the Tide:** When a hostile creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to force that creature to repeat the same attack against another creature (other than itself) of your choice. * **Uncanny Dodge:** When an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack's damage against you. ### Beastmaster #### Bonus Spells Starting at level 3 the following spells do not count against the number of spells you can prepare that day. | Ranger Level | Spells | |:----:|:-------------| | 3rd | Beast Bond | | 5th | Healing Spirit | | 9th | Conjure Animals | | 13th | Giant Insect | | 17th | Awaken | #### Spirit Companion At 3rd level, you learn to use your magic to create a powerful bond with a fey spirit of the hunt. You can perform an 8 hour ritual requiring 50 gp of rare herbs, blood, and meat. At the end of the ritual you create a body for the spirit to inhabit. Generate ability scores for your beast like you would a character. ___ If your spirit companion's animal body is slain, you must create another body for it. #### Animal Attunement At 7th level your beast's attacks are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming damage resistance. Additionally, as an action you can touch your beast to restore a number of hit points equal to twice your ranger level. Once you use this feature you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest. #### Bestial Fury At 11th level your beast companion can make two attacks when you command it to take the attack action. #### We are One At 15th level when you cast a spell with a range of Self you can also affect your beast with the spell if it is within 30' of you. Additionally, when you use *Unerring Precision* your companion recieves a bonus to its next attack equal to the roll until the end of it's next turn. \page ## Rogue - Rogues gain proficiency in Bucklers \page ## Sorcerer - A Sorcerer has access to all Metamagic options at all times. - At 1st level choose either Charisma or Wisdom as your spellcasting ability for this class. - *Animal Handling*, *Perception*, and *Insight* are added to the Sorcerer skill list. ### Metamagic Option Reworks #### Extended Spell When you cast a spell with a duration of less than an hour you can spend 2 sorcery points to increase the mininum duration of the spell to 1 hour. If the spell has a duration of less than 8 hours you can spend 2 sorcery points to increase the duration to 8 hours. If the spell has a duration of less than 24 hours you can spend 2 sorcery points increase it to 24 hours. If the spell has a duration equal to or greater than 24 hours you can spend 2 sorcery points to double the duration. #### Distant Spell Doubles the range of any spell you cast that does not have a range of Self. ### New Metamagic #### Liquid Spell When you cast a non-instantaneous spell with a range of Self, you can spend a number of sorcery points equal to the spell's level (minimum of 1) to turn the spell into 4 ounces of drinkable liquid. You must have an appropriate container in which to store it. The liquid is then considered a potion, which grants the drinker the benefits of your spell for the spell's normal duration. The spell is treated as if it was cast by you, but you do not need to concentrate on it if it would normally require concentration. The potion loses its potency when you take a long rest. You may only have one liquid spell active at a time. #### Slippery Spell You can spend 1 sorcery point when you cast a spell to grant disadvantage on any attempt to counterspell or dispell it. #### Switch Spell When you are concentrating on a spell, you can use a bonus action on your turn and spend 2 sorcery point to change that spell to a different spell. The new spell must be of a lower level than the original, and is considered to be cast at the lowest possible level. If the original spell had a target, that target must still be valid for the new spell; for example, you cannot switch a spell you have cast on someone else to a spell with a range of Self. The new spell's duration is equal to whatever time remained of the old spell's duration or its standard duration, whichever is shorter. You cannot switch a spell more than once. #### Transmute Spell When you cast a spell that deals damage, you can spend 1 sorcery point to change the spell's damage type(s) to any other type of your choice. ``` ``` ### Natural Caster For you magic is as simple as breathing. Your natural affinity with the arcane arts is something crude study or profane ritual can never match. At 1st level you can add your spellcasting ability modifier to your concentration checks. Additionally, when a hostile creature's movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, instead of making an opportunity attack. The spell must have a casting time of only 1 action and must target only that creature. ### Font of Magic At 2nd level, you tap into a deep wellspring of magic within yourself. This wellspring is represented by sorcery points, which allow you to create a variety of magical effects. You have additional sorcery points equal to your spellcasting ability modifier. ___ Spell slots created with this feature disappear at the end of a short or long rest. ### Wild Magic Sorcerer Tweaks #### Tides of Chaos Starting at 1st level, you can manipulate the forces of chance and chaos to gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Once you do so, your next spell of 1st level or higher will require a roll on the Wild Magic table. You cannot use this feature again until you roll on the Wild Magic table at least once. In addition, whenever you roll a natural 1 or a natural 20 with a spell attack, you must roll on the wild magic table. ### Storm Sorcery Tweaks #### Tempestuous Magic Starting at 1st level, you can use a bonus action on your turn to cause whirling gusts of elemental air to briefly surround you, immediately before or after you cast a spell of 1st level or higher. Doing so allows you to fly up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. This increases to 20 feet at 7th level, and 30 feet at 15th level. #### Heart of the Storm At 6th level, you gain resistance to lightning and thunder damage. In addition, whenever you start casting a spell of 1st level or higher that deals lightning or thunder damage, storms erupt from you. This eruption causes creatures of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of you to take lightning or thunder damage (choose each time this ability activates) equal to your Sorcerer level. \page ## Warlock - At level 1 a warlock may choose whether to use Charisma or Intelligence for their spellcasting ability. ### Eldritch Secrets At first level you learn how to manifest occult energy into an offensive attack in the form of a crackling bolt known as an Eldritch Blast. Make a ranged attack roll using your Charisma and Proficiency Bonus. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 + your Charisma modifier force damage. Your eldritch blast becomes more powerful as you reach higher levels; two beams at 5th level, three beams at 11th level, and four beams at 17th level. You can direct the beams at the same target or at different ones. Make a separate attack roll for each beam. ___ Additionally, once per short or long rest you may place a cursed hex on a creature you hit with your Eldritch Blast as a bonus action. The hex lasts up to 1 hour, until you dismiss it, or until the target dies at which point you can use a bonus action on your next turn to curse a new creature. While a creature is hexed, you deal an extra 1d6 necrotic damage to the target whenever you hit it with an attack. Also, choose one ability when you cast the spell. The target has disadvantage on ability checks made with the chosen ability. ### Hexblade Patron Tweak The Hexblade Patron no longer gives the ability to use Charisma for attack and damage rolls with your Pact Weapon. ___ You only gain the benefits of your Hexblade's Curse when using a weapon attack. ___ ### Pact of the Blade Rework You can use your action to create a pact weapon in your empty hand. You can choose the form that this melee weapon takes each time you create it and you are proficient with it while you wield it. This weapon counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage and counts as a focus for your Warlock spells. Your pact weapon disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for 1 minute or more. It also disappears if you use this feature again, if you dismiss the weapon (no action required), or if you die. Your pact weapon has a +1 bonus to hit and damage. When you reach level 5 in this class you gain the extra attack feature. You can transform one magic weapon into your pact weapon by performing a special ritual while you hold the weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 10 minutes, which can be done during a short rest. You can then dismiss the weapon, shunting it into an extra-dimensional space, and it appears whenever you create your pact weapon thereafter. You can't affect an artifact or a sentient weapon in this way. The weapon ceases being your pact weapon if you die, if you perform the ritual on a different weapon, or if you use a ritual to break your bond to it. The weapon appears at your feet if it is in the extra-dimensional space when the bond breaks. ___ In addition, you gain proficiency with medium armor, heavy armor, shields, and martial weapons. ### Pact of the Chain Rework You learn the Find Familiar spell and can cast it as a ritual. The spell doesn't count against your number of spells known. Additionally, when you take the Attack action or cast *Eldritch Blast*, you can forgo one of your own attacks to allow your familiar to make one attack of its own with its reaction. ___ When you cast the Find Familiar spell you can summon any familiar with the following characteristics. * Small or smaller sized * Not of the Humanoid creature type * Maximum of 15 Hit Points * CR 1 or lower * Doesn't have a trait that allows them to cast spells. ### New Pact: Pact of the Cauldron Your patron gives you a chalice, cauldron or similar vessel. When you gain this feature you gain proficiency in Brewing Supplies. You can use the vessel during a short or long rest to create a potion of common or uncommon rarity which lasts 8 hours before losing its potency and becoming inert. Starting at 5th level you can also create *Witch's Poison*. ___ When you create *Witch's Poison* you choose whether it is ingested, inhaled, or applied by injury. A creature affected by your poison must make a Fortitude save vs your Spell Save DC or become poisoned for 24 hours or instantly killed if its challenge rating is at or below a certain threshold as shown in the *Witch's Poison* table below. This does not affect a creature who is immune to poison. You can only have one potion or poision created at a time. ___ If you lose your Vessel you can perform a 10 minute ceremony to receive a replacement from your patron. This ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous vessel. You also have immunity to conditions and damage caused by disease and poison. ___ Additionally, undead have difficulty harming you. If an undead targets you directly with an attack or a harmful spell, that creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC (an undead needn’t make the save when it includes you in an area effect, such as the explosion of fireball). On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or forfeit targeting someone instead of you, potentially wasting the attack or spell. On a successful save, the creature is immune to this effect for 24 hours. An undead is also immune to this effect for 24 hours if you target it with an attack or harmful spell. #### Indestructible Life When you reach 6th level, you partake of some of the true secrets of the Undying. Make a melee spell attack against a creature that is alive and has blood. On a hit you deal 1d10 + Warlock level in damage and heal for as much damage as you dealt. This increases to 2d10 at 11th level and 3d10 at 17th level. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. Additionally, if you put a severed body part onto your stump, the part reattaches. The severed part does not need to be yours. #### Undying Nature Beginning at 10th level, you can hold your breath indefinitely, and you don’t require food, water, or sleep, although you still require rest to reduce exhaustion and still benefit from finishing short and long rests. In addition, you age at a slower rate. For every 10 years that pass, your body ages only 1 year, and you are immune to being magically aged. #### Strength of the Grave Starting at 14th level, your existence in a state of undeath between life and death makes you difficult to defeat. Whenever damage reduces you to 0 hit points, you can make a Fortitude saving throw (DC = the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 hit point. You cannot use this feature if you are reduces to 0 hit points by radiant damage or a critical hit. ### New Invocations *Repelling Blast* and *Grasp of Hadar* provides a Reflex saving throw against your Spell Save DC for their forced movement effect. #### Arcanists Beacon *Prerequisite:* Pact of the Chain feature ___ When your familiar uses their reaction to deliver a spell, the spell cast no longer requires a range of touch. ``` ``` #### Blood Writ *Prerequesite:* Pact of the Tome ____ You can place a corpse’s hand or similar appendage on your Book of Shadows and ask one question aloud. After 1 minute, the answer appears written in blood in your book. The answer is provided by the dead creature’s spirit to the best of its knowledge and is translated into a language of your choice. You must use this ability within 24 hours of a creature’s death, and a given creature can only be asked one question in this manner. #### Branded Mount *Prerequisite:* 5th level, Pact of the Chain ___ You can cast *Find Steed* once using a warlock spell slot in a form reflecting your patron. You must have an object on hand that relates to the intended target, such as a strand of their hair, some of their blood, or any object of importance to them. You can concentrate for up to 1 hour using this object as a focus and an open page of your Book of Shadows. Everything that the target creature says during this time is magically transcribed into the book. Additionally, when you direct your familiar to attack, it can copy any cantrip you know and cast it with its action. #### Shackled Warden *Prerequisite:* 17th level, Pact of the Chain ___ When you cast the *Find Familiar* spell you can summon any familiar with the following characteristics. * Large or smaller sized * Not of the Humanoid creature type * Maximum of 70 Hit Points * CR 3 or lower * Doesn't have a trait that allows them to cast spells. #### Sight Beyond Sight *Prerequesite:* 15th level ___ You gain Truesight up to 60 feet in the form of a third eye. #### One with Shadow *Prerequesite:* 5th level ___ When you are in an area of dim light or darkness, you can use your action to become invisible until you move or take an action or a reaction. #### Soulbound Servant *Prerequisite:* Pact of the Chain ___ When you or your familiar take damage you can use your reaction to split the damage taken equally between yourself and your familiar. If the damage taken exceed your familiars remaining hit points you take the remainder. Additionally, any spell cast by yourself or an ally that targets you also affects your familiar. #### Soulcatcher *Prerequesite:* 15th Level, Pact of the Tome ___ You can cast *Magic Jar* at will with your Book of Shadows used as the container for your soul. #### Superior Pact Weapon *Prerequesite:* 9th level, *Pact of the Blade* ___ Any weapon you create using your Pact of the Blade feature is a +2 weapon. They do not need to be the same. #### Witch Flight *Prerequisite:* 10th level ___ You can cast *Fly* on yourself once per long rest. \page ## Wizard ### Bladesinger Rework #### Trained for War and Song When you adopt this tradition at 2nd level, you gain proficiency with light and medium armor as well as shields, shortswords, longswords, and greatswords. You also gain proficinecy in the Performance skill if you don't already have it. #### Bladesong Starting at 2nd level, you can invoke a secret elven magic called the Bladesong, provided that you aren't wearing heavy armor or using a shield. It graces you with supernatural speed, agility, and focus. You can use a bonus action to start the Bladesong, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, or if you don heavy armor. You can also dismiss the Bladesong at any time you choose. While your Bladesong is active, you gain the following benefits: • You gain a bonus to your Armor Class equal to your Intelligence modifier. • Your walking speed increases by 10 feet. • You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks. • You gain a bonus to concentration checks equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1). You can use this feature twice. You regain all expended uses of it when you finish a short or long rest. #### Battle Magic Beginning at 6th level, when you use your action to cast a spell, you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action. #### Song of War Starting at 10th level you may, once per turn, you add your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1) to the damage of a melee weapon attack you make. #### Song of Victory Starting at 14th level when you make a melee weapon attack you can cast a spell as part of the attack. The spell must target only one creature have an instantaneous effect and provide a saving throw. On a hit, the creature suffers the effects of the weapon and the spell and makes it's save with disadvantage. ___ Additionally, as a bonus action you can spend a spell slot to heal yourself equal to 2d6 per spell level. ### School of Necromancy Rework #### Necromancy Savant Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a necromancy spell into your spellbook is halved. #### Grim Harvest At 2nd level, you gain the ability to strengthen your magic through the dark art of blood sacrifice, and to reap life essence from the freshly slain. As a bonus action, inflict 1d6 necrotic damage to yourself, or to a willing or incapacitated living humanoid within 5 feet. This damage can’t be taken on temporary hit points and ignores damage resistance and immunity. The next time you hit with a spell attack and roll for damage before the end of your turn, your spell deals an additional 2d6 necrotic damage. As a reaction when a creature within 60 feet of you dies, regain 1d6 hit points. If you have dealt damage to it since the beginning of your previous turn, instead regain 2d6 hit points if you damaged it with a cantrip or weapon attack, or 3 hit points per spell level expended if you used a spell slot of 1st level or higher. You can’t use this reaction in response to a construct or undead dying. #### Undead Thralls Starting at 6th level, you add the animate dead spell to your spellbook if it is not there already. If it is, choose another 3rd-level spell of the School of Necromancy and add it to your spellbook. When you cast animate dead, you target one additional corpse or pile of bones, creating another skeleton or zombie, as appropriate. You can choose to cast animate dead as an action. You can do so a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1), and regain all uses when you finish a long rest. ___ Whenever you create an undead using a necromancy spell, it has the following additional features. The creature’s hit point maximum is increased by an amount equal to your wizard level. The creature adds half your proficiency bonus to its AC and its attack rolls, and adds your proficiency bonus to its weapon damage rolls. Further, while you have no undead under your control, when you deal necrotic damage to an undead, you can treat that damage if it were radiant instead. ### Inured to Undeath Beginning at 10th level, you have resistance to necrotic and cold damage, your hit point maximum can't be reduced, and you are immune to paralysis. You have spent so much time dealing with undead and the forces that animate them that you have become inured to some of their worst effects. ### Command Undead Starting at 14th level, you can use magic to bring undead under your control, even those created by other wizards. As an action, you can choose one undead that you can see within 60 feet of you. That creature must make a Charisma saving throw against your wizard spell save DC. If it succeeds, you can't use this feature on it again. If it fails, it becomes friendly to you and obeys your commands until you use this feature again. Intelligent undead are harder to control in this way. If the target has an Intelligence of 8 or higher, it has advantage on the saving throw. If it fails the saving throw and has an Intelligence of 12 or higher, it can repeat the saving throw at the end of every hour until it succeeds and breaks free. \page ### School of Transmutation Tweaks #### Philosopher's Stone Starting at 6th level, you can spend 8 hours creating a philosopher's stone that stores transmutation magic. You can benefit from the stone yourself or give it to another creature. A creature gains a benefit of your choice as long as the stone is in the creature's possession. When you create the stone, choose a benefit from the following options: - Darkvision out to a range of 120 feet - An increase to speed of 15 feet while the creature is unencumbered - Advantage on concentration checks - Resistance to acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage. Each time you cast a transmutation spell of 1st level or higher, you can change the effect of your stone if the philosopher's stone is on your person. As can action you can augment the power of the philosopher's stone, causing it to grant all it's listed effects for 1 hour after which the stone ceases to function. ___ If you create a new philosopher's stone, the previous one ceases to function. #### Shapechanger At 10th level, you add the Polymorph spell to your spellbook, if it is there already choose any other 4th level or lower Transmutation spell. You can cast Polymorph without expending a spell slot once per long rest. #### Master Transmuter Starting at 14th level, you can use your action to consume the reserve of transmutation magic stored within your philosopher's stone in a single burst. When you do so, choose one of the following effects. Your philosopher's stone is destroyed and can't be remade until you finish a long rest. ***Sacred Alchemy*** Over the course of an 8 hour ritual you can transmute 10 pounds of any physical, non-magical matter into one pound of any other physical, nonmagical matter. The matter you create is in a raw and unformed state. ***Panacea.*** You remove all curses, diseases, and poisons affecting a creature that you touch with the philosopher's stone. The creature also regains all its hit points. ***Restore Life.*** You cast the *Revifify* spell on a creature you touch with the philosopher's stone, without expending a spell slot, needing to have the spell in your spellbook, or the material component. ***Restore Youth.*** You touch the philosopher's stone to a creature, and that creature's apparent age is reduced by 3d10 years, to a minimum of 1 years old. If using this on an unwilling creature, treat as a melee attack. ***Hidden Potential.*** You cast *Tenser's Transformation* but retain full mental faculties and control of your actions. You do not need to succeed on a Will saving throw to retreat. You can end the transformation as an action. ``` ``` ### School of War Magic Tweaks #### Tactical Wit Starting at 2nd level, your keen ability to assess tactical situations allows you to act quickly in battle. You can replace your Dexterity bonus to your initiative with your Intelligence modifier. #### Power Surge Starting at 6th level, you can store magical energy within yourself to later empower your damaging spells. In its stored form, this energy is called a power surge. You can store a maximum number of power surges equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of one). Whenever you successfully cast a spell of 1st level or higher that deals damage, you gain one power surge. If you end a short rest with no power surges, you gain one power surge. Whenever you finish a long rest, your number of power surges resets to one. As a bonus action when you cast a spell that deals damage, you can choose to spend power surges up to your total amount and maximize the damage roll of a number of die in the spell equal to the amount of power surges spent. #### Deflecting Shroud At 14th level, your Arcane Deflection becomes infused with deadly magic. When you use your Arcane Deflection feature, you can cause magical energy to arc from you. When you deal damage with this spell, you can also choose to target any creatures adjacent to the original target who must also make Reflex saving throws or take the same damage. ___ The spell’s damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), 17th level (4d8). #### Blade Ward Added to: Cleric ___ You extend your hand and trace a sigil of warding in the air. You have resistance against bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage against the first attack that hits you within the next minute. #### Friends The target recieves a Will saving throw. When the spell ends, the creature makes a Will save, on a success it knows that you charmed it, on a failure it is unaware that you charmed it and all memory of its actions while charmed will be fuzzy and dreamlike. #### Infestation You cause a cloud of mites, fleas, and other parasites to appear momentarily on all creatures within a 10 foot cube within range. The target must succeed on a Fortitude saving throw, or it takes 1d6 poison damage and moves 5 feet in a random direction if it can move and its speed is at least 5 feet. Roll a d4 for the direction: 1, north; 2, south; 3, east; or 4, west. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks, and if the direction rolled is blocked, the target doesn't move. Additionally, creatures who fail the saving throw lose the use of their reaction until the start of your next turn. ___ The spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6). #### Lightning Lure You create a lash of lightning energy that strikes at one creature of your choice that you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Reflex saving throw or be pulled up to 15 feet in a straight line toward you and then take 1d8 lightning damage. If the forced movement would bring the creature within 5 feet of you it takes an additional 1d8 lightning damage. ___ This spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8). #### Magic Stone On a hit, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your spellcasting ability modifier and then richochets to a second target within 10 feet of the original. This richochet attack is made with disadvantage Whether the attack hits or misses, the spell then ends on the stone. If you cast this spell again, the spell ends on any pebbles still affected by your previous casting. #### Mold Earth This cantrip gains an additional effect. You can cast this cantrip at a large or smaller creature that is standing on loose earth. It must make a Reflex saving throw. On a success it suffers no effect. On a failure it sinks into the group up to it's waist and is restrained. It can dig itself out as an action. #### Poison Spray You extend your hand toward a creature you can see within range and project a puff of noxious gas from your palm. The creature must succeed on a Fortitude saving throw or take 1d12 poison damage and become poisoned until the start of your next turn. #### Produce Flame On a hit, the target takes 1d8 fire damage on that turn and 1d4 fire damage at the start of it's next turn unless another creature uses an action to extinguish the flame. Any effect that extinguishes normal flames will also end the effect. ___ This spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8/2d4), 11th level (3d8/3d4), and 17th level (4d8/4d4). #### Ray of Frost You point a finger and a frigid beam of frost streaks toward a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, it takes 1d8 cold damage. In addition, the targets speed is reduced by 15 feet until the start of your next turn. A creature huge or bigger is not affected by the speed reduction. ___ The spell's damage and speed reduction increase by 1d8 & 5 feet when you reach 5th level (2d8/20 feet), 11th level (3d8/25 feet), and 17th level (4d8/30 feet). #### Sword Burst Added to: Bard ___ You create a momentary circle of spectral blades that sweep around you. Each creature of your choice within range must succeed on a Reflex saving throw or take 1d6 force damage. ___ This spell's damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6). #### Thorn Whip Damage increased to (d8) \page #### Thunderclap You create a burst of thunderous sound, which can be heard 100 feet away. Each creature other than you within 5 feet of you must make a Fortitude saving throw. On a failed save it takes 1d4 thunder damage, is deafened until the end of it's next turn, and is knocked prone. Creatures Huge or larger cannot be knocked prone by this spell. ___ The spell’s damage increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4), and 17th level (4d4). #### True Strike You touch one willing creature. Once in the next minute the target can roll 1d4 and add the result to an attack roll of their choice. The spell then ends. ___ The die rolled increases when you reach 5th level (1d6), 11th level (1d8) and 17th level (1d10). #### Word of Radiance You utter a divine word, and burning radiance erupts from you. Each creature of your choice that you can see within range must succeed on a Will saving throw or take 1d6 radiant damage. ___ The spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6). \page ## 1st Level Spell Changes #### Arms of Hadar Each creature of your choice within 10 feet of you must make a Reflex saving throw or take 3d6 Necrotic damage and lose their reaction until the start of their next turn. Rolling the same number on any two of the three die triggers the effect. #### Color Spray A dazzling array of flashing, colored light springs from your hand. Creatures in a 15-foot cone originating from you must make a Will saving throw or become blinded until the start of your next turn. #### Cure Wounds One creature you touch regains a number of Hit Points equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the healing increases by 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier for each spell slot above first. #### Disguise Self Is now a ritual #### Divine Favor Radiant damage increased to 2d4. ``` ``` #### Find Familiar When your familiar dies you take damage equal to its HP maximum. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 poison damage and is also poisoned until the end of your next turn. ___ When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st. #### Searing Smite The creature must end the effect as an action, does not get a save every round. #### Sleep This spell sends creatures into a magical slumber. Roll 5d8; the total is how many hit points of creatures this spell can affect. Creatures within 20 feet of a point you choose within range are affected in ascending order of their current hit points (ignoring unconscious creatures). Starting with the creature that has the lowest current hit points, each creature affected must make a Wisdom saving throw or fall unconscious until the spell ends, the sleeper takes damage, or someone uses an action to shake or slap the sleeper awake. Subtract each creature’s hit points from the total before moving on to the creature with the next lowest hit points. A creature’s hit points must be equal to or less than the remaining total for that creature to be affected. Undead, constructs, and creatures immune to being charmed aren’t affected by this spell. ___ When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, roll an additional 4d8 for each slot level above 1st. #### Speak with Animals Is now a ritual. #### Thunderwave Creatures that fail their save are also defeaned until the start of your next turn. \page ## 2nd Level Spell Changes #### Aganazzar’s Scorcher Damage increased to 5d8, range increased to 60 feet. #### Arcane Lock Is now a ritual. #### Barkskin You touch a willing creature. Until the spell ends, the target's skin has a rough, bark-like appearance, and the target's unarmored AC becomes 16 + Dexterity modifier. ___ No longer requires concentration. #### Cloud of Daggers Damage increased to 5d4. #### Crown of Madness One humanoid of your choice that you can see within range must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become charmed by you for the duration. While the target is charmed in this way, a twisted crown of jagged iron appears on its head, and a madness glows in its eyes. The charmed target must use it's action each turn to make a melee attack against a creature other than itself that you mentally choose or use the Dash action towards the closest creature if none are within range. On your subsequent turns you must use your bonus action to maintain control over the target. Also, the target can make a Will saving throw at the end of each of it's turns. On a success, the spell ends. #### Dust Devil Effect takes place at the start of a creature's turn instead of the end. Damage increased to 2d8. #### Find Steed The summoned steed has uses the maximum possible HP for the chosen creature or 5x your Paladin level. Any armor you give it stays on it when it disappears or is resummoned. #### Find Traps You learn the trap is present, the trap's location, and the nature of the danger posed by it. #### Heat Metal Choose a manufactured metal object, such as a metal weapon or a suit of heavy or medium metal armor, that you can see within range. You cause the object to glow red-hot. Any creature in physical contact with the object takes 2d12 fire damage when you cast the spell. Until the spell ends, you can use a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns to cause this damage again. ____ If a creature is holding or wearing the object and takes the damage from it, the creature must drop the object if it can. If it doesn’t drop the object, it must make a Fortitude saving throw or suffer disadvantage on all attacks and ability checks until the start of your next turn. ___ When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d12 for each slot level above 2nd. #### Healing Spirit The spirit vanishes when it has healed a total of 30 hit points. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the healing increases by 1d6 and the maximum healing capacity of the spirit increases by 15 for each slot level above 2nd. #### Knock/Hold Portal Additionally, this spell can be used to magically hold shut a door, gate, window, or shutter of wood, metal, or stone. The magic affects the portal just as if it were securely closed and normally locked. The DC to batter down the portal or pick the lock (if it has one) is equal to your spell DC. ___ A knock spell can negate a hold portal spell. #### Magic Weapon No longer requires concentration. #### Maximillian's Earthen Grasp You choose a 5-foot-square unoccupied space on the ground that you can see within range. A hand made from the same material as the ground forms and reaches for one creature you can see within 5 feet of it. The target must make a Reflex saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 3d6 bludgeoning damage and is restrained for the spell’s duration. ___ You can cause the hand to crush the restrained target, who must make a Strength check vs your Spell Save DC. It takes 3d6 bludgeoning damage on a failed check, or half as much damage on a successful one. ___ To break out, the restrained target can make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, the target escapes and is no longer restrained by the hand. As an action, you can cause the hand to reach for a different creature or to move to a different unoccupied space within range. The hand releases a restrained target if you do either. #### Melf's Acid Arrow Damage increased to 6d4 on the first round and 3d4 on the second. When they awake they gain the benfits of a short rest. A creature cannot benefit from this spell again until it finishes a long rest. ___ You can target one additional willing creature for each slot level above 3rd. #### Clairvoyance Duration increased to 8 hours. ___ No longer requires concentration. #### Conjure Barrage Damage increased to 6d8. #### Counterspell A spell that is two spell levels lower or less than that of your *Counterspell* causes the *Counterspell* to automatically succeed, a spell that is two spell levels higher or more than that of your *Counterspell* causes the *Counterspell* to automatically fail. Any spells of spell levels in-between require the caster to make an ability check using their spellcasting ability. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level. A 20-foot-radius sphere of blackness and bitter cold appears, centered on a point with range and lasting for the duration. This void is filled with a cacophony of soft whispers and slurping noises that can be heard up to 30 feet away. No light, magical or otherwise, can illuminate the area, and creatures fully within the area are blinded. ___ The void creates a warp in the fabric of space, and the area is difficult terrain. Additionally, any creatures Huge or smaller within 20 feet of the void are sucked towards it at 10 feet per round. Any creature that starts or ends its turn within the void takes 2d6 acid damage and 2d6 cold damage as the freezing void of space bites at them, and slimy tentacles rub on them. ___ Any creature that is reduced to 0 hp within the void disappears from this world, and is never seen again save for a *Wish* spell. #### Leomund's Tiny Hut No longer bars entry, no longer blocks effects from passing through. Is no longer a ritual. #### Lightning Bolt Has a 10ft width. #### Sending Is now a ritual. #### Stinking Cloud Creatures that fail their save are poisoned for 1 minute. The creature can make a Fortitude save at the end of each of it's turns, ending the condition on a success. #### Summon Lesser Demons As part of casting the spell, you can create a 20ft circle on the ground with the blood used as a material component. The summoned demons cannot cross the circle or target anyone in it while the spell lasts. Using the material component in this manner consumes it. #### Tidal Wave Damage increased to 5d8. #### Vampiric Touch No longer requires concentration. ___ Damage increased to 6d6. You heal for the full damage deal. #### Wall of Wind Damage increased to 4d8. Any creature that attempts to move through the wall must make a Strength check vs your spell DC. On a failure it takes 4d8 damage and it pushed back 10 feet. On a success it takes half of the damage. \page ## 4th Level Spell Changes #### Blight Damage increased to 10d8. #### Confusion Confused creatures do not get a save at the end of each round. #### Elemental Bane Choose one creature you can see within 90ft and choose one of the following damage types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder. The target must succeed on a Fortitude saving throw or lose its resistance to the chosen element. If it is not resistant it becomes vulnerable to the chosen element. The creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of it's turns. A creature that is immune to the chosen element is unaffected by this spell. #### Find Greater Steed The summoned steed uses the maximum possible HP for the chosen creature or 5x your Paladin level. Any armor you give it stays on it when it disappears or is resummoned. #### Giant Insect No longer requires concentration #### Grasping Vine You conjure a vine that sprouts from the ground in an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within range. When you cast this spell, you can direct the vine to lash out at a large or smaller creature within 30 feet of it that you can see. That creature must succeed on a Reflex saving throw or be pulled to the vine and grasped by it. Once grasped by the vine, the target can be pulled anywhere within the 30 feet of it. ___ A creature grasped by the vine is restrained and takes 5d8 bludgeoning damage every round as the vine squeezes it until it makes a strength check agaisnt your spell save DC as an action. ___ Until the spell ends, you can direct the vine to lash out at the same creature or another one as a bonus action on each of your turns. ___ When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 and its range increases by 10ft for each slot above 4th. #### Hallucinatory Terrain If you cast this spell on the same spot every day for a week, it lasts until dispelled. #### Ice Storm Damage increases to 3d8 bludgeoning and 6d6 cold damage. #### Leomund's Secret Chest Is now a ritual. ``` ``` #### Mordenkainen’s Faithful Hound Once the hound's alarm has been triggered it materializes into a massive black hound with glowing red eyes. All creatures that can see it must make a Will save or become frightened until the end of their next turn. It has a movement speed of 40 feet and acts on your initiative and follows your commands. #### Polymorph The new form can be any beast whose challenge rating is equal to 1/2 or less than the target’s (or the target’s level, if it doesn’t have a challenge rating). A polymorphed creature retains its normal hitpoints, only its statistics change to that of the chosen form. If a creature is reduced to 0 hp in it's polymorphed form or the polymorph prematurely ends the polymorphed creature reverts to it's original form with the HP it had before the spell was cast. ___ If the caster concentrates on a polymorph spell for the entire duration, it becomes permanent until dispelled. #### Shadows of Moil Flame-like shadows wreathe your body until the spell ends, causing you to become heavily obscured to others. The shadows turn all light within 20 feet of you into *darkness* as per the spell. You can see through this darkness. Any creature who starts their turn within the darkness takes 4d8 necrotic damage. ___ Until the spell ends, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, and radiant damage. #### Sickening Radiance Changed to a Will saving throw. #### Vitriolic Sphere Damage increased to 10d4 and 6d4. \page ## 5th Level Spell Changes #### Animate Objects Tiny Objects have a +9 to hit and deal 1d4+1 damage ___ Small objects have a +8 to hit and deal 2d6+2 damage ___ Medium objects have a +7 to hit and deal 3d8+3 damage ___ Large objects have a +6 to hit and deal 4d10+4 damage ___ Huge objects have a +5 to hit and deal 5d12+5 damage. #### Cloudkill Damage increased to 8d8 #### Cone of Cold Damage increased to 10d8 and if the save is failed, affected creature's movement is reduced to 0 until the end of their turn. #### Conjure Volley Damage increased to 10d8. #### Contagion Contagion range is now 5 feet, not touch. You don't make a melee spell attack to cast it, instead the target immediately starts making Foritude saving throws and is affected by the disease as soon as it fails the first one. The Slimy Doom disease causes the victim to lose its bonus action, reaction and move for one turn instead of being stunned. #### Control Winds No longer requires concentration. #### Danse Macabre No longer requires concentration. #### Dawn Deals 6d10 radiant damage. Counts as sunlight. Creatures that succeed or fail are blinded for 1 minute and can repeat the save at the end of each of their turns. #### Dominate Person Lasts 1 hour. The target gets no additional save from taking damage. #### Dream If you send a nightmare to the target and it fails a Will save it loses 1d4 points of Wisdom. Wisdom lost in this way can only be recovered by Greater Restoration or by a long rest if the target has not been visited by the nightmare 24 hours. If you reach 0 Wisdom you become a gibbering, raving madman and lose all of your former personality. This can only be reversed by a *Wish* spell. #### Enervation A tendril of inky darkness reaches out from you, touching a creature you can see within range to drain life from it. The target must make a Reflex saving throw. On a successful save, the target takes 2d8 necrotic damage, and the spell ends. On a failed save, the target takes 4d8 necrotic damage and gains 1 level of exhaustion and until the spell ends you can use your action on each of your turns to automatically deal 4d8 necrotic damage to the target and give it another level of exhaustion. The spell ends if you use your action to do anything else, if the target is ever outside the spell’s range, or if the target has total cover from you. Whenever the spell deals damage to a target, you regain hit points equal to the amount of necrotic damage the target takes and you lose one level of exhaustion if you have any. #### Far Step No longer requires concentration. #### Flame Strike Damage is increased to 7d6 fire and 7d6 radiant #### Geas While the creature is charmed by you, it gains 1 level of exhaustion each time it acts in a manner directly counter to your instructions. A creature that can’t understand you is unaffected by the spell. #### Holy Weapon No longer requires concentration. #### Immolation Flames wreathe one creature you can see within range. For the duration of the spell the target sheds bright light in a 30 foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. At the start of each of its turns the target must make a Reflex saving throw, taking 40 fire damage on a failed save or 20 on a successful one. These magical flames cannot be extinguished through nonmagical means. If damage from this spell reduces a target to 0 hit points, the target is turned to ash. This spell ends once it has dealt a total of 120 fire damage. #### Insect Plague Radius increased to 100-foot radius sphere. Damage increased to 6d10 poison. #### Maelstrom Damage increased to 10d6 bludgeoning and imposes disadvantage on concentration checks while inside the maelstrom. #### Mass Cure Wounds A wave of healing energy washes out from a point of your choice within range. You can cast *cure wounds* as per a 3rd level spell six times in one action, distributing each *cure wounds* in any combination between all creatures you can see. ___ When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you have an additional *cure wounds*. #### Mislead Your invisibiltiy does not break when you cast a spell or make an attack. #### Negative Energy Flood Damage increased to 12d12. The zombies it creates (if it creates any) follow your verbal commands. \page #### Seeming Lasts 24 hours #### Skill Empowerment No longer requires concentration. Duration increased to 8 hours. #### Transmute Rock Creatures do not get a saving throw to avoid sinking into the mud. #### Wall of Light A shimmering wall of bright light appears at a point you choose within range. The wall appears in any orientation you choose: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. It can be free floating, or it can rest on a solid surface. The wall can be up to 60 feet long, 10 feet high, and 5 feet thick. The wall blocks line of sight, but creatures and objects can pass through it, though they take 8d8 radiant damage when they do. It emits bright light out to 120 feet and dim light for an additional 120 feet. ___ When the wall appears, each creature in its area must make a Fortitude saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 8d8 radiant damage, and is blinded for 1 minute. ___ A creature that ends its turn in the wall’s area takes 8d8 radiant damage. Until the spell ends, you can use a bonus action to launch a beam of radiance from the wall at one creature you can see within 60 feet of it. Make a ranged spell attack. On a hit, the target takes 8d8 radiant damage. #### Wrath of Nature No longer requires concentration. Duration up to 1 hour. \page ## 6th Level Spell Changes #### Arcane Gate No longer requires concentration. #### Blade Barrier Damage increased to 7d10. #### Circle of Death A sphere of negative energy ripples out in a 60-foot-radius sphere from a point within range. Each creature that you choose in that area must make a Fortitude saving throw. A target takes 10d10 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. #### Find the Path No longer requires concentration. #### Investiture of Flame Flames race across your body, shedding bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet for the spell’s duration. The flames don’t harm you. Until the spell ends, you gain the following benefits: - You are immune to fire damage and have resistance to cold damage. - Any creature starts its turn within 5 feet of you or ends its turn there takes 3d10 fire damage. - You can use your bonus action to create a 15-foot radius fire storm centered on you that lasts until you use another bonus action to end it. Each creature that starts its turn in the fire storm must make a Reflex saving throw. A creature takes 8d8 fire damage on a failed save and no damage on a successful one. #### Investiture of Ice Until the spell ends, ice rimes your body, and you gain the following benefits: - You are immune to cold damage and have resistance to fire damage. - You can move across difficult terrain created by ice or snow without spending extra movement. - Any large or smaller creature that moves within 5 feet of you for the first time on a turn or ends its turn there becomes restrained as it is frozen. A creature can attempt to break out of the ice with a strength check against your spell DC. - You can use your bonus action to create a 15-foot radius ice storm centered on you that lasts until you use another bonus action to end it. A creature that starts its turn in the ice storm must make a Fortitude saving throw. A creature takes 4d8 cold damage on a failed save and becomes paralyzed as it is frozen solid. A creature paralyzed in this way has resistance to piercing, slashing, and fire damage. A paralyzed creature can attempt to end the paralyzation as an action with a strength check against your save DC. ``` ``` #### Investiture of Stone Until the spell ends, bits of rock spread across your body, and you gain the following benefits: - You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. - You can use your bonus action to create a small earthquake on the ground in a 15-foot radius centered on you that lasts until you use another bonus action to end it. A creature that starts or ends its turn in the earthquake must succeed on a Reflex saving throw or be knocked prone. - You can move across difficult terrain made of earth or stone without spending extra movement. You can move through solid earth or stone as if it was air and without destabilizing it. You take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside of an object. #### Investiture of Wind Until the spell ends, wind whirls around you, and you gain the following benefits: - Ranged weapon attacks made against you or against any creature within 5 feet of you automatically miss. - You gain a flying speed of 60 feet. If you are still flying when the spell ends, you fall, unless you can somehow prevent it. - You can use your bonus action to create a windstorm in a 15-foot radius centered on you that lasts until you use another bonus action to end it. Each creature in the radius must make a Strength check vs your Spell save DC. A creature that starts its turn in the wind storm takes 6d8 bludgeoning damage on a failed save and gets thrown backwards 30 feet. #### Move Earth No longer requires concentration. #### Otiluke's Freezing Sphere Damage increased to 12d10 #### Otto's Irresistable Dance A creature that fails it's saving throw against this spell loses all of it's movement and its reaction for the turn. #### Primordial Ward No longer requires concentration. \page #### Tenser's Transformation You undergo a harrowing transformation imbuing yourself with endurance and savage power fueled by magic. You transform for 1 hour, while transformed you must succeed on a Will saving throw vs your Spell Save DC to successfully cast any spell other than a cantrip, and you gain the following benefits: - Your size increases to Large. Any clothes or armor you are wearing burst. - Your Strength score increases to 20 and your armor class is set to 16. - You gain 50 temporary hit points. If any of these remain when the spell ends, they are lost. - You gain a movement speed of 40 feet. - You gain a natural weapon that deals 1d10 damage. You must choose whether it deals bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage when you cast this spell. - Your melee attacks deal an extra 3d12 bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage damage and your attacks count as magical weapons. - You have resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage from non-magical weapons. - You have proficiency in Fortitude and Reflex saving throws. - You can attack thrice, instead of once, when you take the Attack action on your turn. While transformed, you lose your personality and simply attack the nearest hostile creature. If there are no hostile creatures in range you must succeed on a Will saving throw vs your spell save DC to not attack non-hostile or friendly creatures. While transformed you cannot retreat from a fight unless you succeed on a Will saving throw against your spell save DC. You can describe your transformation however you want to, whether you turn green and swell with immense muscle or turn into a gigantic ape. #### Wall of Ice Damage increased to 14d6. \page ## 7th Level Spell Changes #### Delayed Blast Fireball No longer requires concentration. #### Finger of Death You send negative energy coursing through a creature that you can see within range, causing it searing pain. The target must make a Fortitude saving throw. It takes 12d8 + 30 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. ___ A humanoid killed by this spell has their body shrivel and blacken into an unrecognizable husk and their soul rises at the start of your next turn as a ghost that is permanently under your command, following your verbal orders to the best of its ability. #### Forcecage Provides a Reflex saving throw to avoid. ___ Consumes its material component. ___ Now requires concentration. #### Mordenkainen’s Sword A sword-shaped plane of force appears in your hand. It lasts for 1 minute (no concentration). When the sword appears, you can make a melee spell attack against a target of your choice within 5 feet of you. On a hit. the target takes 9d10 force damage. Until the spell ends, you can use an action on each of your turns to make a melee spell attack with the sword. If you let go of the sword it hovers in the air where you let go of it. Anyone other than you who attempts to hold the sword finds it incorporeal. #### Prismatic Spray Damage is increased to 16d6 #### Power Word Pain You can use power word pain if a target is missing any of it's hit points. #### Sequester Is now a ritual. #### Simulacrum Cannot cast Wish. #### Whirlwind Damage increased to 10d8. \page ## 8th Level Spell Changes #### Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting Damage is increased to 20d8 necrotic damage. #### Glibness Now lasts for 8 hours. #### Incendiary Cloud No longer requires concentration. #### Power Word Stun You speak a word of power that can overwhelm the mind of one creature you can see within range, leaving it dumbfounded. The creature is stunned without a saving throw, and can make a Will saving throw at the end of each of it's turns to end the effect. #### Sunburst Damage is increased to 12d10. Creatures that fail the saving throw do not get a saving throw at the end of their turns. #### Telepathy Is now a ritual. \page ## 9th Level Spell Changes #### Imprisonment Can target up to 9 creatures in range. #### Invulnerability No longer requires concentration. #### Mass Polymorph As per the *Polymorph* change. #### Power Word Heal A wave of healing energy washes over the creature you touch. The target regains all its hit points and gains temporary hit points equal to 5x it's level. Any conditions the creature has are ended and it gains Advantage on saving throws against any conditions it was healed of for 1 minute. If the creature is prone, it can use its reaction to stand up. This spell has no effect on undead or constructs. #### Power Word Kill You utter a word of power that can compel one creature you can see within range to die instantly. If the creature you chose is missing any of it's hit points, it dies. This spell does not effect extraplanar beings. #### Prismatic Wall Lasts for 1 hour. ___ No longer requires concentration. #### Storm of Vengeance Is no longer concentration. ___ Lasts for 1 hour. #### Time Stop The caster causes the flow of time to stop in a 20-foot sphere centered on themself for 1d4+1 rounds. Any creatures other than the caster within the sphere are paralyzed for the duration, and any creatures that enter the sphere after it has been cast are immediately paralyzed without a saving throw. For every other creature than the caster and any other creature that has *Time Stop* among their spells known, only a faint shimmer will be seen as they are literally experiencing time between the ticks of the clock. ___ Creatures who have *Time Stop* among their spells known and are affected by this spell can make a Will saving throw to resist the effect. Otherwise they are stuck inside the stopped time and are only able to helpessly percieve the events unfolding. #### True Polymorph Has no duration and cannot be dispelled. ``` ``` #### Weird Drawing on the deepest fears of a group of creatures, you create illusory creatures in their minds, visible only to them. Each creature in a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on a point of your choice within range must make a Will saving throw. On a failure they fall to the ground incapacitated and weeping with horror. They are prone and unable to take any actions as they quiver in fear as long as they can see you, even until their own starvation and death. Creatures immune to being frightened are unaffected by this spell. #### Wish Cannot be chosen upon leveling up, must be learned through other means. ___ Wish is the mightiest spell a mortal creature can cast. By simply speaking aloud, you can alter the very foundations of reality in accord with your desires. The basic use of this spell is to duplicate any other spell of 8th level or lower. You don’t need to meet any requirements in that spell, including costly components. The spell simply takes effect. If you want to wish for something, state your wish to the DM as precisely as possible. The DM has great latitude in ruling what occurs in such an instance; the greater the wish, the greater the likelihood that something goes wrong. This spell might simply fail, the effect you desire might only be partly achieved, or you might suffer some unforeseen consequence as a result of how you worded the wish. The stress of casting this spell to produce any effect other than duplicating another spell is an immense strain on your body. You immediately age by 10 years and you fall asleep for 5d6 days. Age gained in this way can never be reveresed, and while hibernating in this way nothing can rouse you, but you do not need to eat or drink. Examples of things players might get experience include the following - Escaping a maze - Recovering the golden crown of a long dead king - Defeat the guardian of the tomb - Find the hidden valley ___ Each character can also have a personal goal that they want to achieve which rewards experience points upon acheiving it depending on the challenge as assessed by the DM. The goal must be personal to the character and specific rather than generic. (Not "I want to become stronger" but instead "I want to learn under Swordmaster Johaan Franz as his apprentice") Some examples of such personal goals include the following - Form a mercenary company - Catch the thief that stole my horse - Win the hand of the princess in marriage \page

\page # Chapter 9: Downtime & Gold ## Overview Short-term activities, can usually be completed in a week (7 days) or longer. It includes buying or creating magic items, pulling off heists, and working a job. If a character is doing downtime work or attempting to accomplish some downtime task, there is a 40% chance at any given moment that he or she is working. ### Carousing #### Resources Carousing covers a week of fine food, strong drink, and socializing. A character can attempt to carouse among lower-, middle-, or upper-class folk. A character can carouse with the lower class for 25 gp to cover expenses, or 150 gp for the middle class. Carousing with the upper class requires 250 gp for the workweek and access to the local nobility. A character with the noble background can mingle with the upper class, but other characters can do so only if the DM has judged that the character has made sufficient contacts. Alternative a character might use the Deception skill to pass off as a noble from a distant city. #### Resolution After a week of carousing, a character stands to make contacts within the selected social class. Each one owes the character a favor or has some reason to bear a grudge. A hostile one works against the character, placing obstacles but stopping short of committing a crime or violence. Allied contacts are friends who will render aid to the character, but will not risk their lives. A harmful contact might point the town guard in the character’s direction or argue with a character who tries to rally the town to a cause. Helpful contacts stand by the character and help in any way possible. Low-class contacts include criminals, laborers, mercenaries, the town guard, and any other folk who would frequent the cheapest taverns in town. Middle-class contacts include guild members, spellcasters, town officials, and other folk who would frequent more upscale establishments. Upper-class contacts are nobles and their direct servants. Carousing in this case covers formal banquets, state dinners, and the like. ___ Once a contact has helped or hindered a character, the character needs to carouse again to get back into the NPC’s good graces. A contact provides help once, not help for life. The contact remains friendly, and that can influence roleplay and how the characters interact with them, but it doesn’t come with a guarantee of help. ___ A character can have a number of unspecified allied contacts at a time no higher than 1 + the character’s Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). To have a magic item crafted the characters may have to recover some kind of special ingredients. For example, if the players approach a Dwarven runesmith with a request to creature armor that resists cold, he might require the pelt of a Yeti to use for the padding. ### Crime #### Resources A crime spree requires a character to spend one week and at least 25 gp gathering information on potential targets, and then committing the crime. #### Resolution The character must make a series of checks, with one DC for all the checks determined by the profit sought from the crime. The chosen DC can be 10, 15, 20, or 25. Successful completion of the crime yields a number of gold pieces equal to 10x the chosen DC. To attempt the crime, the character makes three checks: Dexterity (Stealth), Dexterity with thieves’ tools, and the player’s choice of Intelligence (Investigation), Wisdom (Perception), or Charisma (Deception). If none of the checks succeed, the character is caught and jailed. The punishment for theft varies based on the local authority in question. If one check succeeds, the heist fails but the character escapes. If two checks succeed, the heist is a partial success, netting the character half the payout. If all three succeed, the character earns the full payout. ### Gambling #### Resources This activity requires one workweek of effort from a character, plus the character must risk at least 100 gp, to a maximum of 1,000 gp, unless the DM decides that gambling is a big enough business to support larger wagers. ``` ``` #### Resolution The player must make a series of checks, with a DC determined at random based on the quality of the opposition that the character runs into. Part of the risk of gambling is that you never know who might end up sitting across the table from you. The character makes three checks: Wisdom (Insight), Charisma (Deception), and Charisma (Intimidation). The DC is 5 + 2d10, generating a separate DC for each check. If none of the checks succeed the character now owes 3x what they put in. If one of the checks succeeds the character owes 1.5x what they put in. If two of the checks succeed the character wins 1.5x what they put in. If all three checks succeed the character wins 3x what they put in. ### Relaxation #### Resources Relaxation requires one week. You need to maintain at least a modest lifestyle while relaxing to gain the benefits. You also need to stay at home, at an inn, or in some other location that affords rest. #### Resolution While relaxing, you gain advantage on saving throws to recover from long-term diseases and poisons. In addition gain temporary hit points equal to 2x your proficiency bonus. ### Religious Service #### Resources Religious service requires one week of time and no gold piece cost. #### Resolution The character chooses to make either an Intelligence (Religion) or a Charisma (Persuasion) check. The result of the check determines the benefits of service. If the check is successful the player can earn one or two favors. ___ A favor is a promise for future assistance. It can be expended to ask the temple for help in dealing with a problem, for political or social support, or to reduce the cost of cleric spellcasting by 50 percent. ____ At one time, a character can have a number of unexpended favors no higher than 1 + their Charisma modifier (minimum of one favor). \page ### Research #### Resources Research requires one week of work and at least 100 gp spent on materials, bribes, gifts, and other expenses. Typically, a character needs access to a library or sage to conduct research. #### Resolution The character declares the focus of the research—a specific person, place, or thing. After a workweek of research, a character makes an Intelligence check with a +1 bonus per 100 gp spent beyond the initial 100 gp, to a maximum of +6. In addition, a character with access to a particularly well-stocked library or knowledgeable sages gains advantage on this check. ___ A researcher can gain up to three pieces of useful lore. Each piece of useful lore is the equivalent of one true statement about a person, place, or thing. Examples include knowledge of a creature’s resistances, the password needed to enter a sealed dungeon level, the spells commonly prepared by an order of wizards, and so on. For a monster or an NPC, the DM can reveal elements of stats or personality. For a place, you can reveal secrets about it, such as a hidden entrance, the answer to a riddle, or the nature of a creature that guards the place. The DM can also give out specific pieces of information with research, especially if the players want to know about a specific thing. ___ At one time, a character can have a number of unexpended nonspecific pieces of lore no higher than 1 + their Intelligence modifier (minimum of one piece of lore). ### Sport Fighting #### Resources This activity requires one workweek of effort from a character. After completing the week, the character gains 1d4 levels of exhaustion. #### Resolution The character must make a series of checks, with a DC determined at random based on the quality of the opposition that the character runs into. The challenge in pit fighting lies in the mystery of your opponents. ___ The character makes three checks: Strength (Athletics), Dexterity (Acrobatics), and Wisdom (Insight). The DC is 5 + 2d10, generating a separate DC for each check. If none of the checks succeed the character loses horribly and gains a reputation as a bleeder. If one of the checks succeed the character loses nobly and gains nothing but loses no face. If two of the checks succeed the character does decently well and gains a reputation as a fierce fighter, gain 5d8 gold and a +2 bonus to Charisma (Intimidation) checks in this town. If all three checks succeed the character wins spectacularly and gains a reputation as beast in the ring, gain 8d8 gold and advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks in this town. ``` ``` ### Work #### Resources Taking on a job requires one week of work. #### Resolution The character can maintain a modest lifestyle without cost if they have any artisan tool or instrument proficiencies. Scribing scrolls requires access to rare materials and must be done in a suitably large town or city as well as in a suitable workspace. \page ### Spell Research & Creation A spellcaster of any level may use spell research to gain access to spells that he does not have access to from scrolls, spellbooks, or the object of his divine worship, create new spells, or modify existing ones. ___ Spell research costs 1,000gp, and takes 4d6 weeks of research, per level of the spell. ___ The DC to research a spell equals 10+ the level of the spell you are researching. Add your spellcasting ability modifier and proficiency bonus to the roll. The research DC for a cantrip is 10. ___ To research a spell, a spellcaster must have access to a library or shrine. Wizard circles and temples often will provide their spellcasters access to such a library for a price. ___ If a spellcaster wishes to compile his own library or shrine, a minimum of 4,000gp must be invested to allow research on 1st level spells. For each subsequent spell level to be researched, another 2,000gp must be invested. Having an exceptionally large library aids research. For every 10,000 gp of value above the minimum required for the spell, the spellcaster receives a +1 bonus on his magic research roll (up to a maximum +3 bonus). Authoritative tomes or rare books found as treasure might provide an additional bonus to research specific spells or types of spells. ### Henchmen Each character may have one henchman upon reaching level 3. A henchman counts as ½ a character for purposes of experience gained and will expect a ½ share of treasure. The henchman has a class but must be a minimum of 2 levels below his employer. A Henchman's initial Loyalty is equal to half your Charisma score, rounding down. The Loyalty score of a Henchman measures their degree of trust and faith in you. Low Loyalty Henchmen will not risk themselves for you, and may rob or betray you if it suits their alignment. High Loyalty Henchmen feel a strong bond with you, and will risk death to protect you. ___ Each time a Henchman experiences some special success, such as surviving a heroic battle, achieves a personal goal, or is rewarded with a significant piece of treasure, their Loyalty increases by 1d4. ___ Each time a Henchman suffers something very bad, such as being abandoned by the party, being involved in a rout, or being cheated on pay or treasure, their Loyalty decreases by 1d4. In addition, roll a 2d6. If the result is greater than their Loyalty score they abandon you and stop being your Henchman. If their currently Loyalty is 9+ when they do so then they leave on good terms. If their Loyalty is 3 or less then they betray you if possible. Otherwise they just pack up and make their goodbyes. A player that uses a henchman to replace their character upon death suffers no XP loss. A PC of any level may hire commoners as torch-bearers for 1 gp a day.
