# The Sealed Pact

# Forbidden and Protected The contract is signed. The deal is finalized. Now all that's left is action. I must say however, you are quite unusual compared to everyone else in search of power. How so, you ask? Well, in my experience, when someone seeks me in search of power they usually want revenge, the power to kill, not protect. Ooh, by no means am I going against our deal, in-fact it has piqued my curiosity. I'm quite elated to see what you will get up to. Don't be a stranger now and bring me a story next time you visit, I'm always here. Not that I have a choice otherwise... ## Artificer Specialty: Buster At 3rd level, you choose the type of specialist you are, each of which is detailed at the end of the class's description. ### Buster Supernatural slayers, extra-planer problem solvers, and ingenious inventors, these artificers tackle paranormal issues with a scientific mindset and come equipped with specialized gear that, while few can comprehend, make them the ideal choice to call upon when you find an invisible man in your bed, or similar weird phenomenon. #### Tools of the Job When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with Smith's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice. #### Buster Spells Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Buster Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare. ##### Buster Spells | Artificer Level | Spell | |:----:|:-------------| | 3rd | Thunderwave, Witch Bolt | | 5th | Hold Person, See Invisibility | | 9th | Slow, Speak with Dead | | 13th | Banishment, Locate Creature | | 17th | Dispel Evil and Good, Legend Lore | #### Proton Pack At 3rd level, you have created a Proton Pack, a device capable of manipulating particles, charging them with energy in order to capture supernatural beings. A side effect of this results in a powerful beam capable of harming the mundane as well. The Proton pack is worn on your back and the Particle thrower attached to it can be wielded as a two handed weapon. The Proton pack and Particle thrower count as a spell focus for you. If your Proton pack is damaged you are able to repair it with the *mending* spell, or by using tinker's tools on it for 1 hour, which can be done as part of a short rest. If the proton pack is fully destroyed, you are able to create a new one by using both tinker's tools and smith's tools, and 25gp worth of materials, which takes a day. As an action you make a ranged spell attack using your Particle thrower, at one creature within 30 feet of you. On a hit the particle stream deals 1d8 lightning damage, and you are able to maintain the stream on the target for up to one minute, which counts as concentrating on a spell. While concentrating, you may use your action on each of your turns to either deal 1d8 lightning damage to the target or attempt to pull them, if you attempt to pull the target, they make a strength saving throw, on a failed save they are pulled 20 feet in a direction you choose, on a successful save they are pulled 5 feet. Concentration is lost if you use your action to do anything else. Concentration is also lost if the target is outside the range, or has total cover from you. This attack's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8). If you cast *Witch Bolt* using your proton pack as your spell focus, you may also treat it as if you made your particle thrower attack, allowing you to pull the target instead of dealing damage without losing concentration. If you do so, the target makes its saving throw at disadvantage. Additionally, while you are concentrating on this spell the target's movement speed is halved. #### EMF Detector At 5th level, you have created a device to help you find the supernatural, an EMF detector. As an action, you can activate your EMF detector, to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, elemental, fey, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you. The effect can penetrate barriers, but effects that prevent scrying, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood blocks the detection. You know the type (celestial, elemental, fey, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence your device detects, but not its identity (the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, for instance). Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the *Hallow* spell.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to twice your proficiency bonus, and regain all uses on a long rest. #### Ready the Trap! At 9th level, you have created yet another device to assist your fight against the supernatural. This device is a tiny metal box tethered to your *Proton Pack* called a Trap and takes a spell of 3rd level or higher slot after a long rest in order to function. The Trap gains 1 charge for a 3rd level spell slot, 2 charges for a 4th level spell slot, and 3 charges for a 5th level spell slot. You may only fuel one Trap at a time regardless of how many spell slots you have. \page

The Trap has an AC of 18 and a number of hit points equal to twice your artificer level. It is immune to poison and psychic damage, and all conditions. If it is forced to make an ability check or a saving throw, treat all its ability scores as 10 (+0). If the mending spell is cast on it, it regains 2d6 hit points. All charges are lost if the Trap is destroyed. If destroyed, or if you wish to create additional, it costs 10gp of materials and 1d4 hours per Trap. The Trap can be safely thrown up to 10 feet away from you as a bonus action, and can be up to 30 feet away from you in total before the cord tethering it to you drags it along. As a bonus action on subsequent turns, if the Trap has at least one charge, you can activate the Trap to expend one charge causing it to cast *Banishment* on a creature standing on the same space as the trap or up to 15 feet directly above it. The Trap maintains concentration on the spell and can only lose concentration if the Trap is destroyed. Undead are banished to the Shadowfell as if it were their home plane. Creatures with a CR 20 or above cannot be banished by the Trap unless they have been weakened considerably, if at all.(at your DM's digression) If the target succeeds the saving throw against the spell, or if the Trap successfully banishes a creature back to its home plane, the Trap still loses the charge, but will regain it when you finish a short rest. Otherwise the Trap cannot regain charges until you complete a long rest and expend an appropriate level spell slot. #### Slime 'em! At 15th level, you have figured out how to harness the strange residue of residents of the ethereal plane called ectoplasm and enhance it with the charged particles created by your *Proton Pack* creating a unique tool to add to your arsenal. You gain a pool of 6 points called your Slime reservoir. As an action you may spend points to perform one of the following actions using your *Particle thrower*: - Coat 'em - 1 point: Coat a target in negatively charged slime. A creature you can see makes a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save they are blinded, and their movement is halved until they spend a turn to scrape the goo off of them, or are drenched in water. On a successful save the target is not blinded. The target cannot be affected by this if they are submerged in water. - Web 'em - 2 points: Coat an area in neutrally charged slime. You cast the *Web* spell without expending a spell slot and have the following changes; The webs are not flammable. The spell does not require concentration, it simply lasts an hour. The spell save DC is 14 when created in this way. - A little pick-me-up - 1 or more points: Coat a target in positively charged slime. A non-undead creature with more than 0 hit points regains 1d8 + your Intelligence modifier(minimum 1) hit points per slime reservoir point spent. The target cannot be affected by this if they are submerged in water. You regain all of your Slime reservoir points when you finish a long rest. You also gain 1 point if you successfully banish a creature back to its home plane using your *Trap*. You may gain more than 6 points in your Slime reservoir this way, but your total will still be set to 6 on a long rest. ## Fighter Martial Archetype: Shield Bearer At 3rd level, you choose an archetype that you strive to emulate in your combat styles and techniques. ### Shield Bearer This fighting style goes by many names; Shield Bearer, Defender, Coward, Guardian, Protector, or perhaps Shield Maiden if you are female. Regardless of name or origin one idea is shared amongst them; the favor and emphasis of using a shield. #### Shield Bash The best offense is a good defense, and starting at 3rd level you take that literally. In your hands a shield is more than just another piece of armor, it's also a weapon. You may make the attack action with a shield equipped, using it as a simple weapon you are proficient with. When you first obtain a given shield you, or your DM, assigns it one of the following types, replacing its AC bonus and adding additional properties: - **Small** - Your shield gives +1 AC, has the light, and finesse properties, and deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage. - **Medium** - Your shield gives +2 AC, deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage, and has the versatile property(1d8). - **Great** - Your shield gives +3 AC, has the heavy, and two-handed properties, and deals 1d10 bludgeoning damage. The damage type can be changed to piercing if it comes adorned with spikes on the front of it. Spikes can usually be added to an existing shield at a blacksmith for 2gp, or added yourself, if you are proficient with smithing tools and have the appropriate materials. > ##### Beyond the subclass > DM's can and I encourage you to pre-categorize shields. Especially if they're magic items. > Shields come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and are even tied to the cultures of places they are found in. > > A small detail of what kind of, and what patterns are on a shield can go a long way to adding detail to an NPC in your game, even if you're not using this subclass! #### Shield Savant Starting at 3rd level, You gain the following benefits: - In combat, you can don or doff a shield as the free object interaction on your turn as part of your movement. - You gain an additional +1 AC for wielding a second shield if neither shield is a *Great* type. You cannot gain the AC bonus from the *Dual Wielder* feat in addition to this. - While you have a shield equipped, you may expend your reaction to give yourself advantage on any Dexterity saving throws you make against a spell or other harmful effect that targets only you, interposing your shield between yourself and the source of the effect. \page

#### Always in the way At 7th level, your ability to position yourself between allies and enemies is uncanny, as if it were second nature! You now always act as Half-Cover for allies within 5 feet of you that are the same size category or smaller than you. #### Protector of the Weak Is it a sense of duty, or just a reflex at this point? At 10th level, you may choose a Second Fighting Style between *Interception* and *Protection*. - **Interception**. When a creature you can see hits a target, other than you, within 5 feet of you with an attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage the target takes by 1d10 + your proficiency bonus (to a minimum of 0 damage). You must be wielding a shield or a simple or martial weapon to use this reaction. - **Protection**. When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a shield. #### Obstructing presence At 15th level, you have perfected your imitation of a door! You now always act as Three-Quarters Cover for allies within 5 feet of you that are the same size category or smaller than you. Allies that can use you as cover can also use the hide action to use you as total cover. Additionally, enemies smaller than you cannot move through your space, unless they are also incorporeal. #### Steel Skin At 18th level, you have a will of Iron and body of Steel. Your hit point maximum increases by an amount equal to your constitution score. Additionally, once per turn you can reduce an instance of damage taken by 1d10(to a minimum of 0). ## Roguish Archetype: Lifestealer At 3rd level, you choose an archetype that you emulate in the exercise of your rogue abilities. ### Lifestealer Silver and gold, gems and jewelry, wealth is desirable, but fleeting. What you pilfer is less tangible, yet far more valuable; life. Not merey killing, you literally steal the life essence from others, using it to enrich yourself, and maybe your friends should you feel like sharing the wealth. And once you've bled your victims of all their worth, why not pick their coffers dry as well? They won't be needing it any longer. ``` ``` #### Vitality Thief Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to not only take life essence, but give it as well. When you roll a 20 on the die for an attack roll with a melee weapon, you deal additional necrotic damage equal to twice your rogue level and regain as many hit points as this damage deals. You may also use this feature on any other hit with a melee weapon, however, you may only use it in this way a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. You regain all uses of this feature on a long rest. Additionally, you may touch a creature and expend one or more of your hit dice to heal that creature as an action. This feature has no effect on constructs or undead. #### Vital points At 3rd level, you learn how to gauge your opponent's vitality. You gain proficiency with the medicine skill. As an action you may make a medicine check against the creature's Constitution score to learn their maximum hit points by studying them. #### Essence Siphon At 9th level, you are able to harvest more life essence from a creature on the cusp of death. When a creature that isn't a construct or undead dies within 15 feet of you, you gain 1 life shard, or 2 when you are the one to slay the creature. Upon reaching 6 life shards you regain an expended hit die. Additionally, your Vitality Thief feature now affects undead creatures. #### Rend the Soul At 13th level, using your Vitality Thief feature on a creature saps them of their energy, leaving them sluggish and open to future attacks, you gain advantage against that creature until the end of your next turn. #### Full Harvest At 17th level, all the life essence you've stolen causes you to age more slowly. For every 10 years that pass, your body ages only 1 year. You also can't be aged magically. In addition, your ability to take life essence reaches new heights! Damage caused by your Vitality Thief feature ignores resistance to necrotic damage, and treats immunity to necrotic damage as resistance. \page

## Sorcerous Origin: Twin Soul At 1st level, you choose a sorcerous origin, which describes the source of your innate magical power. ### Twin Soul Your power is not your own, or at least it wasn't originally. A second soul now resides within you, intertwined with your own. Perhaps it was the spirit of a warrior fallen in battle who attempted to possess you to avenge them and it wasn't fully successful, or maybe a dear friend sacrificed their life to save you from a fatal wound using a process they didn't fully understand, by chance you could have come across a cursed ring containing the soul of it's previous victim, or simply it may be your twin who died in the womb but remained with you. Whatever the cause, your two fates are linked, which grants you an unusual strength. #### A Second Soul Starting at 1st level, your soul is fused with another, which will be referred to as your twin. Your twin is still a separate entity with a mind of their own and therefore as different knowledge which they are able to share, gain 1 skill, language, and tool or instrument proficiency of your choice that reflect your twin's abilities. Additionally, you are immune to being possessed by other entities, such as ghosts, and you can see into the Ethereal Plane. Ethereal creatures and objects appear ghostly and translucent. #### Another Self At 1st level, When an enemy makes an attack roll or spell attack roll against you, as a reaction your twin can retaliate and make a spell attack against them. On a hit you deal 1d10 psychic damage. This damage is increased by 1d10 when you reach 6th level (2d10), 14th level (3d10), and 18th level (4d10) #### Dual Aspirations At 6th level, Your twin is able to fully manifest themself to aid you in combat, you may expend a use of this feature to do one the following: * As a bonus action you can project your twin as an intangible spirit up to 20 feet away from you for one minute, or until dismissed. As a bonus action on following turns, you can move your twin up to 20 feet, but they must remain within 60 feet of you. While projected, you can cast spells as though you were in your twin's space. Your twin cannot enter areas protected by the *Magic Circle* spell or similar magic. While intangible and immune to most attacks, if targeted by a *Banishment* spell, or similar effect, and fails the save, the projection is forcibly ended and you take 2d10 psychic damage. * While your twin is projected and you have line of sight of them, you can teleport to your twin as a bonus action. * When you are forced to make a constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell and your twin is not projected you can add 1d8 to the roll. You may only use this once per saving throw. * When you are forced to make a save against the *Charmed* or *Frightened* conditions and your twin is not projected you can add 1d8 to the roll. You may only use this once per saving throw. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all uses on a long rest. You may also expend a sorcery point to regain a use of this feature. #### Twinned Form At 14th level, you learn to walk a mile in your twin's shoes, you can cast the *Etherealness* spell with this feature, without expending a spell slot, but the spell has a duration of 1 minute. Additionally, while in the Border Ethereal your twin remains manifested as an intangible spirit on the plane you originated from, mimicking your movement. You cannot use actions from your *Dual Aspirations* feature while under the effects of this one. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest, or by expending 10 sorcery points. #### Twice Blessed At 18th level, not even the hand of death can tear you and your twin apart. When you roll a 1 when you make a death saving throw you can reroll that save and must take the new roll. Also, if you roll a 20 when you make a death saving throw you regain half your maximum hit points instead of one. Once you use this feature you may not use it again for 24 hours. Additionally you learn *Astral Projection* which counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. You may ignore the material components for this spell when you cast it only on yourself, but still require them for anyone else you are casting it on. ## Warlock Otherworldly Patron: The Sealed One At 1st level, you have struck a bargain with an otherworldly being. ### The Sealed One This being is one who has been sealed away for all eternity, or at least that was the plan. Cracks, faults, or perhaps simple imperfections have been found in their prison, just enough for their whispers to slip through, and they are taking full advantage of it. This entity has been long forgotten by the mortal races, and even some of the immortal ones, and if nothing else, their lust for freedom remains, which lends them to aligning with kindred spirits, such as free spirited adventurers, granting them powers they've cultivated by studying their prison in exchange for searching for the key to their freedom, or simply a glimpse into the world that has long since forgotten them. \page

#### Expanded Spell List The Sealed one lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you. ##### Sealed One Expanded Spells | Spell Level | Spells | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | Protection from Good and Evil, Sanctuary | | 2nd | Warding Bond, Arcane Lock | | 3rd | Magic Circle, Blink | | 4th | Banishment, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere | | 5th | Wall of Force, Dispel Good and Evil | #### Escape Artist Starting at 1st level, your patron's lust for freedom manifests in you as newly acquired skills. You gain proficiency with Thieves tools, as well as your choice of Athletics or Acrobatics. Additionally you gain a Climb and Swim speed of 20 feet if you did not already have them. #### Sealed Fate At 1st level, you can call upon your Patron to protect you, or those you deem worthy, using a manifestation of their prison. When you, or an ally within 30 feet of you takes damage, as a reaction, you can grant them a protective barrier before the damage is taken. The barrier grants the target temporary hit points equal to twice your Warlock level. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. All uses of this feature are regained on a short or long rest. #### Freedom Fighter At 6th level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, heavy armor, shields, and martial weapons. Also armor cannot grant you disadvantage on Dexterity(Stealth) checks. Additionally you gain access to one Fighting Style of your choice. #### Unbound Servant At 10th level, Your Patron grants you an envious amount of freedom. Your movement is unaffected by difficult terrain, and spells and other magical effects cannot reduce your speed. Additionally you have advantage on saving throws against effects that cause you to become paralyzed or restrained. You can spend 5 feet of movement to automatically escape from nonmagical restraints, such as manacles or a creature that has grappled you. #### Shared Prison Starting at 14th level, when you hit a creature with an attack, you can use this feature to instantly transport the target to your patron's prison. The creature disappears and is subject to your patron's whims. At the end of your next turn, the target returns to the space it previously occupied, or the nearest unoccupied space, if it survives. The target takes 8d8 psychic damage from the horrific experience, or half if the target is a celestial. ``` ``` If the target is reduced to 0 hit points from this feature, you gain the effects of the *Bless* spell for one hour. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest. ### Warlock Pact Boon: At 3rd level, your otherworldly patron bestows a gift upon you for your loyal service. This is another option you may choose. ##### Pact of the Shard: Your Patron gifts you a fragment of their power made manifest. Usually it takes the form of a locket, or brooch, belt buckle, or similar wearable trinket, but it can take any form you choose. As an action you can activate the shard causing it to transform into armored gauntlets on you, or meld into ones you are already wearing. This transformation lasts for 10 minutes and cannot be used again until you complete a short or long rest. The gauntlets count as a simple weapon that adds an additional 1d4 bludgeoning damage to your unarmed attacks. Additionally your unarmed attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. While transformed, the gauntlets also count as a spell focus for you. The transformation ends if you have 0 hit points. If you lose the shard, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement from your patron. This ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous shard. The shard vanishes into smoke when you die. At 9th level, the duration becomes an hour. At 18th level, this feature lasts until you dismiss it or take a rest, and you may use it any number of times. ### Eldritch Invocations: The following includes additional Eldritch Invocation options for you to choose from.

##### Shard Transformation: Grieves **Prerequisites: Pact of the Shard** When you transform your shard it also manifests into a pair of armor grieves that melds into your current equipment for the duration. While transformed you gain the following benefits: - Your AC increases by 1 - Your movement speed increases by 10 feet. - It only costs you 5 feet of movement to get up from being prone. \page

##### Shard Transformation: Grappling Hook **Prerequisites: Pact of the Shard** Your gauntlets have received an additional attachment, a grappling hook! As an action you can fire the grappling hook to do one of the following: - Swing: Anchor the grappling hook into a surface and pull or swing yourself across a distance equal to your move speed. - Scale: Fire your grappling hook up a vertical surface and scale it with a climbing speed equal to your movement speed. - Pull: Fire your grappling hook at a target you can see within a range equal to your move speed, and attempt to pull them to you. Target makes a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC or is pulled up to 10 feet in a straight line towards you. If the target is 2 or more size categories larger than you, they succeed automatically. The grappling hook is only strong enough to support the weight of one creature at a time. If broken or cut, the rope magically disappears and the grappling hook is unusable for the remainder that the shard is transformed, but will be repaired the next time you transform your shard. ##### Shard Transformation: Spiked Gauntlets **Prerequisites: 5th level, Pact of the Shard** Your gauntlets have been improved, granting you the following benefits: You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you make an unarmed attack when you take the Attack action on your turn. Also, your gauntlets grant you an additional 1d6 piercing damage to your unarmed attacks instead of 1d4 bludgeoning. ##### Shard Transformation: Body Armor **Prerequisites: 7th level, Shard Transformation: Grieves** When you transform your shard it now encompasses your whole body, melding with your current armor or attire. While transformed you are functionally wearing plate armor, minus a helmet. You have proficiency with this armor even if you normally don't have proficiency with heavy armor, and it can take any appearance. Additionally this armor does not reduce your speed if your Strength score is below 15. ##### Shard Transformation: Helmet **Prerequisites: 9th level, Shard Transformation: Body Armor** When you transform your shard it now also manifests into a helmet. While transformed you gain the following benefits: - You gain darkvision out to 90 feet. - You gain a 6th sense that lets you dodge out of the way of certain area effects, such as a blue dragon's lightning breath or a *fireball* spell. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail. ``` ``` ##### Shard Transformation: Full power **Prerequisites: 12th level, Shard Transformation: Helmet** While your shard is transformed, you may add your proficiency bonus to your saving throws. If you are already proficient in that saving throw, you add double instead. ##### Shard Transformation: Titian Buster **Prerequisites: 15th level, Shard Transformation: Full power** While your shard is transformed you are able to unleash its full power for a brief period of time. As an action, while your shard is transformed, you can activate Titian Buster, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute: - Your size becomes huge. - Your Hit Point current and maximum triples. - Your Strength score becomes 30. - You may cast *Disintegrate* once without expending a spell slot. - You may cast *Scorching Ray* at 2nd level as a bonus action on each of your turns without expending a spell slot. Once Titian Buster ends, or you end it early on your turn as a free action, you cannot use it again for 1d4 weeks, additionally Titian Buster causes massive strain on your body causing you to gain 1d4+1 levels of exhaustion. ##### Gluttonous Blade **Prerequisites: 15th level, Pact of the Blade** When you hit a creature that is not a construct with your pact weapon, you regain hit points equal to the number rolled on the damage die of the weapon. \page

### New Optional Feat #### Shield basher ##### Prerequisite: Proficiency with shields In your hands, a shield is just as effective a weapon as any other. You may make the attack action with a shield equipped, using it as a simple weapon you are proficient with. When you first obtain a given shield you, or your DM, assigns it one of the following types, replacing its AC bonus and adding additional properties: - **Small** - Your shield gives +1 AC, has the light, and finesse properties, and deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage. - **Medium** - Your shield gives +2 AC, deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage, and has the versatile property(1d8). - **Great** - Your shield gives +3 AC, has the heavy, and two-handed properties, and deals 1d10 bludgeoning damage. The damage type can be changed to piercing if it comes adorned with spikes on the front of it. Spikes can usually be added to an existing shield at a blacksmith for 2gp, or added yourself, if you are proficient with smithing tools and have the appropriate materials. Additionally, you can use a shield as part of two-weapon fighting, even when using a *Medium* shield or the one-handed melee weapon you are wielding isn't light. >This feat is intended to have a similar role as Martial Adept, which is why this feat directly reflects the subclasses feature above including the shield types. > >For those who like the concept of an offensive shield, but perhaps not the typing as much, or would just like a simplified version; simply add "deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage, and has the versatile property(1d6)" to all shields while you have this feat.

Options
