# Path of the Gentleman R**age** **is a destructive thing.**
As an inherently chaotic emotion, those who frequently succumb to it are naturally left lacking in regards to interpersonal qualities such as class or poise.
And yet, in spite of that intrinsic nature, the diversity of the realms has given rise to beings whose way of life could only beg the question: How can an individual, at once, be both the angriest ***and*** the most polite? For those who walk the path of a Gentleman, that dichotomous duality is but the very source of their strength. Rather than fueling their pent-up frustrations with reckless violence, they choose to channel their emotions into the way they conduct themselves; outclassing their opponents in a showmanship of graceful combat. Representing a defiance of what it means to be a *“barbarian”*, these eccentric warriors hold discipline and honor as their greatest weapons. After all, the one in control of themselves is always one step ahead to be in control of the battlefield.

### Proper Attire When you take this path at 3rd level, you learn the importance of suiting up for your appointments. While you are wearing a set of **Fine Clothes**, you may add your Rage Damage bonus to any Charisma ability checks or saving throws you make. Additionally, you can use your Charisma modifier instead of Constitution when calculating your *Unarmored Defense*. ``` ```

### Elegant Indignation Also at 3rd level, your heightened emotions serve to elevate your grace, rather than deafen it. Whenever you enter a Rage, you may gain a number of benefits equal to your proficiency bonus, choosing from the options below: - You have advantage on attack rolls made to disarm an opponent. - Your Rage Damage bonus is doubled when dealing non-lethal damage. - If you haven't dealt any damage on your turn, you may add your Rage Damage bonus to your AC until the start of your next turn. - You are able to maintain your Rage by having an attack miss you, instead of taking damage. - You can apply your Rage Damage bonus to melee weapon attacks made using your Dexterity. - You may benefit from your *Reckless Attack* feature when making a melee attack roll using Dexterity. The chosen benefits last until your Rage ends. As a bonus action on your turn, you may expend a hit die to replace one of your current benefits with another one from this list.

\page ### Gentlemen's Duel At 6th level, you may challenge those you consider rivals to an exalted form of single combat. As a bonus action, make an Intimidation or Persuasion check against the Passive Insight of a creature you can see within 20 feet of you. On a success, the target is treated as being under the effects of the *Compelled Duel* spell, which last for their usual duration. Once the affair of honor starts, the two of you must abide by the following rules: - Neither of you may attack the other while they are prone. - Each of you may only deal non-lethal damage to the other. - Neither of you may move away from the other. - If one of you is knocked unconscious or surrenders, the duel ends. If either of you break any of these rules, the offender takes psychic damage equal to 2d8 + your Barbarian level. As soon as the duel is over, the creature who lost is removed from combat (this ends the effects of *Compelled Duel* on your opponent, if still active). The duel is instantly interrupted if you attack or harm a creature other than the one you are dueling, or if an ally attacks or harms the creature you are dueling. Once you’ve used this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.

The standard ruling for non-lethal damage in 5e is that it
can only be applied to an instance of damage that downs a creature. For the sake of this subclass's intended usage, the recommendation is that players be allowed to announce any melee damage roll as non-lethal.

``` ``` ### Enforced Chivalry At 10th level, others are made to reciprocate your manners in one way or another: - While you are raging, you gain resistance to psychic damage. - Creatures hidden from you have disadvantage on attack rolls against you. - Creatures you have dealt no damage to within the last hour have disadvantage on Deception checks against you, and you have advantage on Insight checks made to discern if they are telling the truth. ### Gallant Paragon At 14th level, your dashing figure reaches the pinnacle of its shine, burning itself into any who witness the nobility of your deeds. When using the *Elegant Indignation* feature, you can now replace a chosen benefit without having to expend a hit die. In addition, the following options are added to the list of benefits you can choose from: - You have advantage on Wisdom saving throws and ability checks. - You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus at the start of your turn. - Whenever you successfully disarm a creature, they become frightened of you until the end of their next turn.
