# Archfey Warlock Pact of the Chain Revamp
Includes alternative fey familiars, rules for Familiar Sneak Attacks, Modifiacations for Pact of the Chain, balanced from a Lore and RP perspective.
The idea is to make the Archfey warlock feel more unique compared to his fiendish counterparts.

<div class='descriptive'>
##### Variant Rule:
*** Static Pact of the Chain *** The first time you cast Find Familiar after gaining the Pact of the Chain feature, you can choose to give the familiar a name. If you do, this named familiar cannot assume a form other than the chosen one as a result of re-casting Find Familiar, and when you cast Find Familiar, you can only summon a familiar with the same name and game statistics as this named familiar (it is treated as the named familiar). You cannot unsummon your named familiar, but casting Find Familiar will teleport you familiar back to you should you become separated.
</div>

## Two new kinds of fairy familiars
Since you can no longer change your familiar into other forms, stats had to be rebalanced to elevate the fey familiars roughly on the level of the Imp to give it enough survivability and utility to last through your entire adventuring career.

## Fairy characteristics
Toadstool Fairies are usually provided by patrons aligned with the Seelie /Summer court, while Nightshade Fairies are often associated with Unseelie patrons.
Both types of fairies enjoy playing pranks on mortals (including the party). Nightshade Fairies prefer to scare people and cause general chaos and confusion. Althoughh Toadstools generally try to be helpful, their attempts to fix or improve broken items (without regards for privacy or property or asking for permission)can often backfire.
The character has no control over the cantrips (Thaumaturgy, Mend or Druidcraft)being used by his companion, it will cast them on its own whenever it feels it's appropriate.
Both fairies do not sleep and are easily bored. They look to socialize with other fey or beasts in the region while the party is asleep, which can sometimes cause trouble for the party.

## Optional Sneak Attack Rule
As a full round action you can make a ranged touch attack against a single enemy in your line of sight no more than 120ft. away. If your familiar cannot reach the enemy within the same round, the attempt will fail.

Should your familiar be in range, it will deliver a vicious sneak attack equivalent to a rogue of your character level: 1d4 +3 (weapon damage) + 1d6 for each uneven character level, max 10d6 at lervel 19.

The damage will be slashing or piercing damage, depending on the weapon your fae is wielding.

Your familiar does not need to make an attack roll, if your ranged touch attack connected, the familiar will hit its aim.
Should your familiar still have movement points available after the sneak attack, it will use them to get out of harms way and re-cast invisibility as soon as possible.

> #####  But..isn't that insanely overpowered?
>
>From a mere damage/round perspective: no, it is not. Although the damage progression is a bit smoother, it's almost entirely in line with the damage you could deal with Eldritch Blast + Agonizing Blast invocation.
The damage type changes from force to physical, wich is usually more often resisted.
Since it is a single attack, it profits much less from the Hex spell than Eldritch Blast.
In the end, it's more or less just a cosmetic reskin for your standard EB attack.
At levels 3 and 4 the pixie sneak attack is a bit better than EB, so for balance reasons it might be advisable to only grant this ability from level 5 onward.
