# Pardoned Turkey
A much beloved king in a prosperous kingdom had many feasts thrown in his honor. A large bird called a "Turkey" was often the centerpiece of these and other banquets enjoyed throughout the land. The turkey was a succulent beast, a delight to Humans and Halflings alike. So much so that its numbers decreased dramatically until it became a rare find.

The ruler also served as the High Priest and as was his custom, he would bless the royal banquet preparations. Hearing the trouble that the cooks went through to acquire the the rare bird which was to become that evening's delicacy, he could not in good conscience eat it. Instead, he pardoned it through the magic of his blessing and set it free.

### Blessing or a Curse?
The benevolent ruler's pardon was intended to protect the turkey from any harm from the knives and cleavers of the cooks. However, like magic often does, there were unintended consequences. The blessing made the Pardoned Turkey **immortal**. Nothing man made could kill it and the bird became more cunning the longer it lived.

The Pardoned Turkey to this day terrorizes countryside farms by tearing up the like of fences, pens, and barns--often attacking people when interrupted or provoked, then fleeing into cover of thick vegetation. Presumably it conducts itself this way to enact revenge for the systematic murder of its kind because it has been found freeing turkeys raised for the slaughter.

### Halflings Beware
Perhaps it is the short stature of Halflings or their history of feasting on turkeys, or both, but the Pardoned Turkey is quite aggressive towards them and will attack on sight without provocation.
