# Bullywug Mud King

Course we din't mind it much, but then the bigger buggers appeared an they'd wreck stuff pretty good, smashin' up warehouses and the like. The Mallowsea swamps were feelin' wrong, though I can't say as to how, just unnatural. It were like something with more smarts were ordering 'em about now."*

Bigger, smarter and greedier than the average bullywug, the mud king is eager to impress outsiders of its majesty with displays of treasure and items it has obtained. However, its vanity can make it susceptible to flattery, trickery and bribery and many a wily adventurer has won the favour of a mud king with a worthless trinket and a half-truth, but just as many have found themselves engulfed by its toxic belch, their failed attempts at deception are the last thing they do before the mud king's tribe takes their revenge at the insult.

>***Mud King Vanity.*** The bullywug has disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks that appeal to its vanity. A creature gains advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) and Charisma (Deception) checks against the bullywug when a suitable bribe is offered.

>***Multiattack.*** The bullywug makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its spear.

>***Bite.*** *Melee Weapon Attack*: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. *Hit:* 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) poison damage.

>***Spear.*** *Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack*: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. *Hit:* 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, or 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack.

>***Belch (Recharge 5-6).*** The bullywug belches poisonous gas in a 20-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 14 (4d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
