## Firearms in the 13th Age
Firearms, despite being relatively new, have become increasingly common on the battlefield. While usually more expensive than a decent crossbow or bow, firearms provide unparalleled ease of use and armor penetration. 
### Rules
#### Class Restrictions
Firearms operate under the same system as normal ranged weapons, meaning that pistols count as d6 crossbow weapons and longarms like the arquebus count as d8 bow weapons when determining your ranged attack penalties.
#### Malfunctions
Early firearms were unreliable beasts that often misfired or jammed under constant use. When making an attack roll, if the natural die roll is less than or equal to 3, the weapon has had some sort of malfunction. You must spend a standard action to attempting to clear the malfunction (11+ SAVE) before using it again.

**Brace of Pistols:** If a pistol fired from the brace suffers a Malfunction, it must be cleared before the brace can be used again.
<br />
**Wear of Battle(Optional)**: If the natural die result is less than or equal to the Escalation Die + 1, then the weapon suffers a Malfunction.
#### Weather(Optional)
If you are attempting to use a non-wheellock firearm in the rain 
or otherwise damp environment, you must spend a standard action attempting to light the slow-match (16+ SAVE) before the weapon can be fired. This only has to be performed once per encounter.
### Feats
#### Firearm Training (Adventurer Tier)
If your class allows you to make another attack, you may reload and shoot the firearm you are currently holding as a part of that attack.
#### Speed Loader (Champion Tier)
 Reloading a non-wheellock firearm is now a quick action. Reloading a wheellock firearm is now a free action, however only two firearms may be loaded in a given round.
