# Blade of the Archdemon (Legendary)

The Blade of the Archdemon is a legendary blade made for tieflings to unlock their inner powers. It's extremely rare, found only in the most daring of places. Aquiring this item requires great skill and strength backed by a strong party to aid you in your quest.

### Appearance

The blade most often appears as a rapier or longsword. The adventurers would first wielded this weapon were most proficient in these weapons, and they found it most often in one of these forms. Those who know of the blade's existance know not whether there are two blades, one of each type that adventurers find, or if they are one in the same, and the blade choses its form based on the individual it has found worthy of wielding it.

Either way, the blade itself is of a magnificent quality. The handle is comprised of a non-flamable metal and wood composite wrapped in a fine leather grip and laced with gold trim. The blade is a firm and extremely sharp strong steel. Alternatively, the hilt could instead be black with a more slender handle. The blade also gains a slightly reddish hue when the archdemon transformation is activated.

### Location

This blade is extremely rare and hard to find. Those who find this blade are normally considered to be chosen by the blade, being considered "allowed" to find it and wield its great power. It is often found in the den of powerful demons and devils, or the tomb of a previous owner. It is almost always surrounded by powerful demons, but when wielded or hidden away by a living individual, the blade is rarely guarded by a force not related in some way to its owner.

### Abilities

The Blade of the Archdemon has many abilities that it grants to its wielder. It is an extremely powerful blade wielded only by the most powerful of tiefling legends. Those not of tielfing descent are unable to unlock the full extent of its demonic powers.

Whether the wielder is of demonic descent or not, the blade still has the power to ignite with brilliant magical flames for additional damage. This sword deals an additional 2d8 magical fire damage on a successful attack. In addition to this, the blade has a passive +4 enchantment as a legendary item. If you have a resistance to fire damage, then you instead have immunity to fire damage while weidling this weapon. If you have no resistance to fire damage, then you gain a resistance to fire damage while weilding this weapon.

But the blade's true power lies in the latent ability it grants the tielfings that wield it. As an action, you can activate the blade's power to transform into an archdemon. You can choose how this affects your appearance without it affecting you mechanically. You do, however, gain a set of wings that grant you a flying speed of 40 feet for the duration of the transformation. The transformation lasts 1 minute, at which point you revert back to your regular form. You can end this ability early at any time as a free action. If you revert to your normal form while airborn, you can instantly land before reverting if you are within 40 feet of the ground below you. If you are higher than this, you can fly down 40 feet before reverting and taking fall damage depending on how high you were at that point. You regain the ability to use this ability after completing a long rest.

While this ability is active, you gain a bonus to your Dexterity and Charisma of 2, and your maximum possible Dexterity and Charisma scores are increased to 22. These scores return to normal when the transformation ends. In addition, you gain True Sight for the duration of the transformation, and your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d8 fire damage.

### Damage

The blade's quality is very high, meaning it deals even more damage than a normal weapon of its type. If the weapon takes on the form of a rapier, it deals 2d8 magical piercing damage in addition to the passive +4 enchantment bonus and the additional fire damage. If the weapon takes on the form of a longsword, it deals 2d8 magical slashing damage when wielded with one hand and 2d10 magical slashing damage when wielded with two hands in addition to the passive +4 enchantment bonus and the additional fire damage.
