title: Monastic Tradition - Way of the Hundred Hands
description: >-
A Monastic Tradition for 5th Edition that allows your character to move fast,
react fast, and of course punch - really, really, fast.

Prescribed for lovers of Fist of the North Star like myself, but not
exclusively. The tradition is centered around speed but offers versatility and
  a variety of roleplay opportunities.

I've been working on this on and off for over a year now, fueled by a strong
passion for speedster characters. Over that time it's progressed from an
overpowered manime mess to a grounded piece of work that can exist within the
DnD fiction fairly well. This is about as close as I could get to having my
cake and punching it too. I hope you all have as much fun as I've had with
  this archetype.

### Way of the Hundred Hands
Monks who follow the Way of the Hundred Hands strive to reach transcendence through speed. They focus on training to move and strike with unrivaled celerity.

#### Hundred Hand Strike
Upon choosing this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to unleash a barrage of martial strikes.

After taking the Attack action on your turn, you can take the Attack action one additional time.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you take one of your turns without making the Attack action.

#### Rushing Spirit
At 6th Level, you can draw upon your spirit for extremely swift and precise motions.
When making a Dexterity check, you can choose to add your Wisdom modifier to the roll as well.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest, unless you expend a ki point to do so.

#### Awakened Reflex
Upon reaching 11th Level, the flow of ki throughout your body greatly bolsters your instincts. While you have ki points remaining, you gain a +2 bonus to your Unarmored Defense AC and can take an additional reaction each round.

#### Transcendent Step
At 17th level, you can overwhelm your body with ki to move imperceptibly fast.

On your turn, you can spend 3 ki points to make a Transcendent Step. As soon as you begin to move, no time passes until you stop moving. When this effect ends, any creature that you moved within 5 feet of takes thunder damage equal to your Dexterity modifier.

After using this feature, you become incapacitated until the end of your next turn.
