# Lockromancer  

You have learned the ways of the afterlife and discovered new ways of taming pokémon. You use your knowledge to capture the very essence of any pokémon, **its soul**.

When you capture any pokémon, you can choose to change its typing to either Ghost, Psychic, or Dark. Doing this converts the pokémon's HP to Temporary HP and Potions or other healing actions no longer work for this pokémon. If the pokémon receives damage that matches its own typing, it is healed for half that amount instead. 

If the pokémon's HP drops to 0, its soul is released and **you can no longer use that same pokémon**. You must remove it from your team, and it cannot be revived by any healing potion, spell, or ability.

If you choose a background with a preferred type, you gain advantage on capturing that type of pokémon.

#### My Body is Ready

The fine tether between your pokémon's soul and its continued existance is strengthened by your own soul. At level 5 you may choose to sustain 1 level of Exhaustion to heal your pokemon for **1d6 * your Constitution modifier** Temporary HP.


#### My Will is Stronger

You learn how to better control your own thoughts and can focus your energy into your pokémon. Beginning at level 9, you can choose to sustain 1 level of Exhaustion to empower an attack and add your own Intelligence modifier on top of your pokémon's attack damage for 1 minute.  

You also gain the ability to use an entire short rest to remove one level of Exhaustion by meditating.
 

#### No Soul is Lost

You learn of an ancient technique that can defy even the afterlife. Starting at level 15, you can choose to sustain 3 levels of Exhaustion spending 3 hours to summon the soul of a fallen pokémon you once controlled.  

A pokémon summoned this way must fill one of your pokeslots and must remain there until defeated. You cannot summon another pokémon this way until the first one is defeated again.

#### Haunted Past

"I see dead Pokémon."  

From an early age, ghost type pokemon made their presence known to you. You gain adavantage on information rolls relating to Ghost, Psychic, or Dark type pokémon.

**Skill Proficiencies:** Perception, Insight

**Preferred Type:** Ghost

#### Traveling Psychic

"The spirits, they speak to me."

You are more sensitive to the spirits of pokémon past and receive vague messages and hints of the future from them. You gain advantage when communicating with Ghost, Psychic, or Dark type pokémon. 

**Skill Proficiencies:** Deception, Insight

**Preferred Type:** Psychic

#### Dark Professor

"I make the spirits, and they obey only me."

You worked in a lab experimenting with dark powers. You learned how to dominate the mind of any pokémon you control and gain +1 Loyalty upon capture.

**Skill Proficiencies:** Arcana, Intimidation

**Preferred Type:** Dark
