# Rakshasa Tiefling
Demons and devils are not the only infernal creatures who's progeny inhabit the material plane.
A Rakshasa's arch aim is to gather clout, money, and power. They are decadent, greedy, and vain creatures who rely on a cadre of loyal servants to assist them in raising their position in the world and gaining dominion. It is for this purpose that they mate with those in the material plane, resulting in offspring that are rakshasa tieflings. Were their children to be full-blood rakshasa they would become competitors and chalenge them for power and station, but to have their children be tiefling - half-bloods born of both the material plane and of rakshasan heritage - they are then someone the rakshasa could subjugate and in turn have their tiefling offspring subjugate more mortals for them.

### Infernal bloodline
Rakshasa tieflings are created from humanoid lineages that have blended with a rakshasa's infernal heritage. The mingling of these bloodlines have left a clear imprint on the appearance of the resulting offspring. These tieflings Have feline faces, fur covering their bodies, and four to five foot long tails, which trail after them and lash or coil around their legs when they get upset or nervous. Their teeth are sharply pointed and their eyes are similar to that of a rakshasa, ranging from gold to yellow to amber with black slits and always containing a fiendish glimmer of disturbing, infernal intellect.

Many of this tiefling subrace have also inherited one of the more unnerving and unique features of the Rakshasa, their reversed hands. The palms of a rakshasa faced out from the body when the arms were at rest. In some instances, only one of the tiefings hands is turned out in this way while the other remains normal.

In addition to the fur, eyes, and backwards hands some Rakshasa tieflings are known to exude a slight smell of brimestone as well. This forever reminding them, and all those they interact with, of their infernal bloodline.

### self-reliant and curious
Not all of the Rakshasa's spawn heed the call to serve their infernal progenitor. Some lean more to the personality traits and ideals of their mortal parentage. As a result those who rebel against their infernal lineage have a tendency to become more curious about the world and its inhabitants than their fiendishly-orthodox siblings. All the while, still remembering their heritage and fearful that others will recognize it in them, they tend to be somewhat secluded and detached from society; overcoming this only after others have demonstrated their tolerance ability to be trusted. Even in the face of all this, some of these Rakshasa tieflings have struck out on their own, cut their own path, and become adventurers.

### Tiefling names

Tiefling names fall into three broad categories. Tieflings born into another culture typically have names reflective of that culture. Some have names derived from the Infernal language, passed down through generations, that reflect their fiendish heritage. And some younger tieflings, striving to find a place in the world, adopt a name that signifies a virtue or other concept and then try to embody that concept. For some, the chosen name is a noble quest. For others, it’s a grim destiny.

## Rakshasa Tiefling Traits
Teiflings share certain racial traits as a result of their infernal, and specifically Rakshasan, descent.

**Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterty or Constitution score increases by 1.

**Age.** Tieflings mature at the same rate as humans but live a few years longer.

**Alignment.** Tieflings might not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many of them end up there. Evil or not, an independent nature inclines many tieflings, especially those born from a Rakshasa herritage, toward a chaotic alignment.

**Size.** Tieflings are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.

**Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

**Darkvision.** Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it
were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only
shades of gray.

**Rakshasa's Boon.**

*Limited Magical Resistance.* When you Fail a saving throw against a spell or other magical effect, you can reroll the save, and you must use the new roll. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

**Rakshasan Legacy.** When you reach 3rd level, you know the cantrip *thaumaturgy*, *mage hand*, or *minor illusion*. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the *disguise self* spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

**Hellcat's Speed.** A Rakshasa is a quick individual. You have not inherited the totality of their innate speed, but have gained some of their ability. Your reflexes and agility allow you to
move with a burst of speed. When you move on your
turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end
of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again
until you move Ø feet on one of your turns.

**Fiend's Talent.** You have proficiency with the Perception skill.

**Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and Infernal.
