## Omnic

The Omnic Crisis started when the omnic constructs attained self-awareness. Created by omniums, self-improving constructs created by powerful engineers and wizards, these omnics have ascended from mere tools to serve their masters, and are now conscious enough to make their own decisions and to reason. Though peace among their former masters is the common goal of Omnics, the necessity of violence is not lost to them.

### Sentient Constructs
Created from various materials by humans or human-made omniums, all omnics made by the same source tend to look similar, though omnics spawned from one source may differ greatly from another. Typically, omnics are fashioned to look similar to humans, ranging from 5 to 6 feet tall. The material used to create an omnic is usually heavy, resulting in omnics that weigh quite heavy. Most omnics are built with grey metal, but due to their sentience they try to diversify themselves with different colorations or even clothing.

### Curiosity in Life
Due to their recent capability for understanding, omnics are very curious beings. They try to see the best in the world, and explore all avenues available to them. Prejudice against them has been cruel and unyielding, yet the common response from an omnic is patience and understanding. They tend to live life to the fullest, despite having extreme longevity, and even the youngest of omnics are well experienced in the world if given the opportunity. An omnic adventurer is most likely one for the sole purpose of adventuring. Omnics are quick to accept others if shown compassion, and would gladly give themselves to save the life of a trusted friend.

### United with Others
Despite the various amount of omnics they all share common beliefs and ideals, and unity is the strongest that they hold close. Whether it be with other omnics or another race they trust, omnics believe that only together can greatness be achieved. Omnics do not strive to become something great themselves, but instead try to better everyone around them.

Most omnics attempt to integrate into other societies so they may better relations between omnics and other races, while others accept the other races into their homes to establish relations on an interpersonal level. Only the most abused omnics feel animosity toward other races, and even then the more common response is fear rather than hate.

### Seekers of Acceptance
At its core, an omnic's sole desire is to be accepted by those around them. They will put their trust in others, and hope they do so in return. If they work with others, they work their hardest to help achieve their allies goals. Even after being recognized as a wondrous figure, an nmnic strives to uphold and live up to its reputation.

### Omnic Names
Commonly, omnic names are taken from the society that built them. Some integrate clever puns about their construction or the material they were made from, but most simply adopt a name from something meaningful to them, whether it be an ideal, their creator, or simply something they enjoy. Most omnics built from the same omnium share a similar surname, while others who find close friends adopt names to unify them. There are a variety of possibilities when it comes to omnic names, so it is best to choose something based on their creation, such as what race they most associate with.

### Omnic Traits
Though different omniums produce different forms of omnics, your omnic character shares these traits with other omnics.

***Ability Score Increase.*** Your Wisdom score increases by 2.

***Age.*** Omnics are created from both strong magic and incredibly technology. Their construction makes it so they can survive for many years until whatever drives them fades away, usually about 500 years.

***Alignment.*** Omnics tend toward a good alignment, and are often lawful to the groups they inhabit. Rogue omnics are usually chaotic, but few are evil.

***Size.*** Omnics vary based on their omnium, but are most often between 5-7 feet tall. Regardless of your construction, all character omnics are size Medium.

***Speed.*** Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

***Languages.*** You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Typically an omnic learns the language of the people that created it or that it lives around. In addition, omnics know the omnic language, a series of sounds similar to machinery chiming in harmonious patterns, that only other omnics can understand. Omnics prefer to speak so everyone may undersand them, but if dealing with a different race personally they will attempt to use that race's language if able.

***Magic Resistance.*** You have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.\page

***Shut Down.*** Omnics don't need to sleep. Instead, they go into a form of statis, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. While in stasis, you are able to dream afer a fashion; such dreams are actually a culmination of information passing through your mind.

***Subrace.*** There are two significant types of omnics: the humanoid civilian units, and the bastion combat units. Choose one of these subraces.

  #### Civilian Unit
The majority of omnics are civilian units, humanoid looking robots that usually integrate with society. They are excellent at communicating and working in groups, and are often found living with both omnics and other races.

***Ability Score Increase.*** Your Charisma score increases by 1.

*** Personal Connection.*** You have proficiency in the Persuasion and Insight skills.

 #### Bastion Unit
When omniums rebelled against their creators, the bulk of their army was made from bastion units. Highly durable and fitted for combat, they now roam as mercenaries where their skills might be put to use.

***Ability Score Increase.*** Your Constitution score increases by 1.

***Martial Weapon Training.*** You gain proficiency in one martial weapon of your choice.

***Self-Repair*** - Whenever you spend Hit Dice at the end of a short rest to heal, you heal an additional amount of hit points equal to your character level. You may use this ability once per long rest.

  ### Design Choices

This section is merely an explanation of the decisions I made for the time being, as some choices may seem unexpected, but I believe most are resonably implemented (aside from possible balance issues). **Note - **Many of the choices I made were more speculation/guessing, because not all information has been revealed about omnics, so any choices I made that don't have much to back them up I'm welcome to discuss changes for.

***Ability Score Improvements - *** The base omnic race gains wisdom. I was torn between this or intelligence, but I decided that based off of the Shambali's spiritual awakening, and Bastion's curiosity toward nature, wisdom was a better fit for how they interact in the world. For the Civillian Unit, charisma made sense because of them interacting with others (and if we look at Zenyatta, he's a very likable guy). Bastion Units could have had either strength or dexterity, but I didn't want to veer that subrace toward either melee or ranged weapons, so I decided on constitution.

***Age - ***This one took me awhile to come up with a good number for, and I'm not convinced that 500 is a good age for them. Technically they may be able to live forever as constructs, but that of course means you have a character that can live forever. It's also equally possible they only live as long as humans. So this is the one feature I more or less made up and would like opinons on.

***Speed - *** I figured their metal bodies would make them heavy, and as anyone who's played Overwatch can attest, both Zenyatta and Bastion are noticably slow compared to others. So I imagined they'd have less than 30ft walking speed.

***Magic Resistance - *** As omnics are more or less constructs, I decided to see what features they could gain that other constructs had. I think this is a strong feature for a character to have, but they do not gain may other features as a result. But I'm not sure how this feature may affect balance compared to other races.

***Shut Down - *** This was based mainly on the Elf "Trance" feature, and I took the idea from the fact that Bastion turned off for a long time (enough for foliage to grow on him) and then wake up, and the fact that Zenyatta meditates and supposedly dreams (according to one of his voice lines). Not sure how I should word "what" their dreams are, or even if I should mention dreams.

***Civilian/Bastion Units - *** Bastion units are of course a thing, but "Civillian Unit" is not the official designation of omnics such as Zenyatta. I merely used that name because they do seem to be merely civillian omnics.

***Self-Repair - *** Obviously fashioned after his in-game ability, I did not want an ability that would just allow him to heal whenever he wanted. I thought being able to heal an extra amount while resting was good, but I didn't want it to be "every time" you short rest (spam short rests and only use 1 Hit Die every time). If this is too good of healing, I may change it to "when you heal, you heal an amount equal to Hit Dice + twice your con modifier," but I feel it's ok at the moment.

***Normal Healing - *** For the time being this race can heal and be revived as normal. There's discussions in Overwatch about whether or not omnics have souls, but even ignoring that, in game they can be healed as normal people can, and even revived in the same manner.
